Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga for ‘On The Road’ Cannes premiere: beautiful?

We covered the On the Road photo call earlier today – go here to see. These are some of the early photos from tonight’s red carpet premiere in Cannes. Just know that all of the photos haven’t come in yet and this post is just for the early ones, so you can talk about fashion and stuff. You know what’s nice? Robert Pattinson came out to support Kristen Stewart’s film! I think that’s sweet. I didn’t even realize Sparkles had arrived in Cannes yet (I’m not a Twihard) – his film promotional work doesn’t start until Friday, I think. So he came early to spend time with Kristen and to support her film. Sweet.

As far as I can see, Sparkles and Kristen didn’t pose together on the carpet – she was too busy with her cast. As for Kristen Stewart’s dress… it’s Balenciaga. She wore Balenciaga earlier today, and I’m guessing her fashion contract means she has to wear the label for day and night appearances. This dress is pretty – it’s not blowing me away, but at least it’s not some hideous, fur-ball Marchesa.

Kiki Dunst looked… eh. I’ll say something nice about this Dior – it’s an interesting color choice for her. Kiki often chooses the lightest creams, whites and pastels, and it’s nice to see her in something bold. But I’m not crazy about this dress. Also: I’m really starting to wonder if she IS pregnant after all.

Ah, VIGGO!!! Why does he look so hot to me right now?

PS… Name that ginger. I can’t.

Stewart’s dress is pretty except for the trashy slit.

    • Call Me Al says:

I think it’s pretty but I just hate looking at her in it. She just seems so uncomfortable in everything. I liked her yellow pants better.

    • corny says:

it’s not bad, just not as good as she thinks it look on her

    • yuk says:

Stewart just does not wear couture well. She always looks like a kid playing dress up. She never appears comfortable and it shows.

  2. Maguita says:

The dress is ok, does not fit well on the bust, and why of why the casual black belt?

The biggest surprise today? Lainey is calling Kristen Stewart’s performance in OTR fearless and magnificent. Magnificent..? Well, I am ready to be impressed and to forgive her Bella Swan.

RPATZ has gotten his hotness back. And looks like he knows it too. Arrogant sexy British fart!

    • Cleo says:

“On the road” opened in France today so I went to see it and Kristen is amazing in it. I was actually really surprised. You’ll have to forgive her Bella Swan.

      • Maguita says:

Wow, that is awesome! Care to give us a review of the film, and who impressed you most?

Btw, if you’ve read Jack keouak’s book, can you please tell us if the movie favorably compares?

        Merci à l’avance!

      • Lila says:

Was Sam Riley good? I find him to be strangely hot…I’m French too, although I live in California, but I usually spend a week there in the late summer visiting my family…I may just have to see it when I am there instead of waiting for the Fall US.

      • Cleo says:

The entire cast is absolutely outsanding. Garett Hedlund really impressed me. Sam Riley is very good (I have to say I find him hot too). And Tom Sturridge was a big surprise to me, he gives a strong performance.
About the movie itself, I’m a little less enthusiastic. I mean it’s good but a little too long and you can definitely see how difficult it was to adapt the book. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to see it, I definitely think you have to but it’s not a masterpiece.
I never read the book (which I’m a little bit ashamed of) but I think they cut off some parts and maybe some characters.

      • another nina says:

Big Yes for Tom! He is very talented.

      • belloque says:

Well you must be one of the rare next to Lainey who is paid for such reviews.
Others are all mixed to extremely negative.

      • Cleo says:

@belloque: Well, I wish I could be paid for it lol. Seriously, read my post again, you probably misunderstood. Yes, I think the cast is fantastic but I’m not that impressed by the movie. It’s interesting to see because of the actors, some beautiful images and some good scenes, as I said it’s not a masterpiece and other Cannes movies like “Rust and Bones” or “Moonrise kingdom” are far better.

      • Maguita says:

Thank you so much for your review Cleo. That was very nice of you for taking the time and giving us your impressions.

        Bonne soirée!

      • Tiffany says:

belloque, the Hollywood Reporter and Variety gave the performances great reviews. Those are very credible and highly regarded publications.

  3. Mirella says:

I love the colors in Kristen’s, but that’s all. Kiki’s dress I actually like, that color is great on her. I’m wondering if she is pregnant. Hmmm.

    • Siren6 says:

Totally agree! And I think that is the most relaxed and comfortable looking Kristen has ever looked on a red carpet.

    • Rice says:

I actually prefer Kristen’s dress to KiKi’s. The fuscia pink (?) looks overwhelming on her. But that’s just my opinion.

  4. Sammy Moore says:

I like the design of the dress. But it is too low cut for my taste.

  5. miriam says:

The dress would have been better if it was a mini. What’s up with Kirsten Dunst’s face? She looks to have put on weight.

    • Jaybird says:

I gotta say, I disagree. I think the dress would look better either with the slit beginning at the knee or with the hem ending at the knee. With the deep v-neck, a mini dress would have been a greater skank-tastrophie than the it is now.
Regarding the preggo Kiki situation, I agree that something is off. Either she has booze bloat, some unfortunate fitting, or she’s with child. Or perhaps she just gained some weight?

  6. OlsenTriplet says:

Perhaps “washed” is the best way to describe her look here. As in, she could be beautiful all the time if she washed herself and her clothing regularly.

  7. JB says:

Sorry, everyone. I love her. She is a beauty. Never read or saw Twilight . I love her hair with that dress.

  8. marie says:

I like the color of Kirsten’s and Kristen’s isn’t bad but it needs to be shorter? All the men look fantastic though..

now the real question, were there any low flying birds among these pictures?

  9. Sophie says:

the dress COULD be amazing, but something about it is bugging me. I don’t mind the slit but I think the fit of the skirt is a bit off. and the embroidery and colours are fabulous.

  10. Jackie says:

greasy hair at cannes…way to stay classy kstew.

    • zoomie says:

Really? I like her hair or maybe I like it cos I have crazy flyaway hair that my mum says looks like an ungroomed horses tail, no lie.

    • Kreia says:

“Stay classy” and she are enemies. Along with proper shampoo.

  11. Jilliterate says:

I’m not sure I’m ever going to find Kristen Stewart beautiful, exactly — she always has this sleepy-eyed, “I need a nap” look on her face that I don’t like — but this is one of her better looks, I think. I like that dusty teal colour on her, and most importantly, she looks comfortable. She’s wearing the dress instead of it wearing her.

    • DreamyK says:

She and Rob look like they took a few tokes before hitting the red carpet.

The dress initially looked like something Scarlet O’Hara would wear i.e. drapes. Upon closer inspection, I see the detail work, which is interesting, but still not a big fan of the dress. It overwhelms her petite frame.

  12. zoomie says:

The ginger is Danny Morgan or Shane from Off The Hook, a little known comedy tv series about a group of teens starting uni that came on BBC. He was really funny in it, if you like childish, immature humour like me.

  13. lower-case deb says:

the shadow under RPatz eyes! especially in the first photo of him.
    Makes me sleepy by proxy.

  14. Mean Hannah says:

Don’t care for Kristen’s dress…the color, embroidery/beading and slit are a bit reminiscent of a cheongsam but not in a good way. I actually love Kirsten’s simple dress and the belt…the color is beautiful on her. Her face does look a bit fuller than usual.

  15. another nina says:

I like Viggo and Tom Sturridge.

  16. mia girl says:

Fashion-wise, Cannes Kristen is so much better than Snow White Kristen. I love this dress and think she looks great.

Kiki looks lovely as well. That pink is beautiful on her. I think the dress works.

Rpatz in a suit is a fine sight, but Viggo in a tux trumps all.

  17. Lise says:

Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedllund didn’t sign any autographs or even looked at the fans who waited HOURS for them. Brad Pitt yesterday talked to a lot of people, fans, journalists, before the premiere, i’m not a fan but it really shows that he’s professional.

    • marie says:

      that doesn’t surprise me.

    • Ann says:

Judging from the video, they weren’t given time to sign. The cast arrived around the same time, posed for photos and went in. Sometimes, they have to abide by the event’s handlers and schedule. Both Garrett and Kristen are usually pretty good about signing for fans, so they may have just been sticking to the schedule.

    • tell the whole story says:

I read that NO ONE from the cast signed autographs. Don’t single out 1 or 2 just because you don’t like them. Perhaps there was a reason why none of them did. Who knows?

      • Lise says:

I talked about these two because I’ve only heard the journalists in Cannes said their names. Even if the whole cast did this, it still means they’re ungrateful.

      • tell the whole story says:

Wow, ungrateful, ok. Couldn’t just have been that they were on a schedule, and had people directing them around (as someone else said above). I’m sure you will find a reason not to like her/them regardless.

      • Lise says:

The director had time to talk to the French television so I don’t see how they couldn’t even say hello to the fans. And I don’t hate her, I didn’t have an opinion on her character before that.

    • Chatcat says:

Serious question here…why do people want autographs? I have never asked for one of anybody or never desired it either. I meet professional athletes personally at charitable events, as well as “local” celebs and the occasional “star” and enjoy being introduced or engage in a small chat but beyond that why would I want their signature?

Having said that I find many other folks that are really more fascinating at these events as well that are famous in their own fields…such as cancer research and awareness programs for MS and I don’t want their autograph either. I guess I just don’t get it.

      • Veruca says:

I think it’s one of two things: those who are obsessed with movie stars and covet things like their signature or their hair…

and then there are those who simply sell them on Ebay.

  18. Chatcat says:

    1. I just bought a runner last w/e at TJ Maxx for my dining room table that must have been left over material from KStew’s dress! It looks better on my table trust me.

    2. I like Kristens’ dress…both the color and the style…and the pictures of her these last few days looks to me like the posture of being prego.

    3. Viggo = all that is man…Rob = all that is not.

  19. Ann says:

I like Kristen’s dress, it’s a good style for her and the detailing is very pretty. So much better than the SWATH Marchesa thing. I also like her makeup, her complexion is great and the natural makeup shows it off.

Kiki looks great too, the hot pink is a great color for her. She’s usually in pastels and nudes, she looks great in bright colors.

Viggo is so handsome, as always. I’d love to see him touch up his hair color a bit though. 🙂

And RPatz looks good to me. Boy cleans up well from his normal hobo look.

TomStu is a hot mess, as always. Don’t know what the hell is up with his hair. Hope its for a movie role. Because otherwise, there is no excuse.

  20. kay says:

I love Kiki’s dress. I don’t care for her hair though.

Finally, in the totally candid shots of Kristen, the ones where she is not even aware the camera is capturing her in the pic and it’s not face on, she looks pretty.
The group shot where she is smiling up at her co stars, she looks beautiful.

    • another nina says:

I agree, there are several pictures where she looks beautiful (despite the dress.)

  21. Lila says:

Love Kristen’s tdress actually…Also, I totally think KiKi Dunst could be preggo…She is looking a lot fuller in the face…Kind of psyched for this film…Love Sam Riley…Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter were very complimentary of Kristen’s performance..Believe THR was the one which called her perfect.

  22. mary simon says:

Not that fond of the dress. The lower half looks like grandma’s curtains. Still, it is a step up from the Sasquatch dress. Her hair could use a good wash. And she’s not giving anyone the finger, so I guess that’s good.

  23. Genevieve says:

The dress is lovely, clearly a Balenciaga work of art, heavy on the hand-worked beading. I love Kristen Stewart, as I’ve commented earlier. However, except for the super high leg slit, it seems a bit…matronly??…on the youthful Ms. Stewart. Am I wrong here?

As for KiKi…lovely dress, but that’s the only nice thing I can say about her. I think she’s generally a hot mess. Ugh. And by the bye…wouldn’t you think someone with her income would FINALLY fix that awful snaggletooth?! Just sayin’.

  24. Stubbylove says:

I think that dress is the best things I’ve seen KS wear – it’s gorgeous, looks great on her figure and paired with great shoes and hair. That being said, she’s still a twit.

  25. riri says:

Kristen Stewart’s dress is simply very unflattering.

The neckline (if you can call it a neckline) is emphasizing her lack of bosom.

  26. ZenB!tch says:

I like Kristen for the first time ever. I’m not a Twilight person so I have no Kristen hate. I just never like her fashion choices. This is the first time I’ve seen her look like a young woman.

Dunst looks old and either fat (for her) or Preggie.

I <3 my Viggo so nuff said.

  27. Becky says:

    1) Viggo does look hot
    2) I love KS bitch face almos as much as her hair. I will hate on twiglight all day but Kirsten is the shit
    3) what color would look good on Kristen? I honestly can’t think of any except yellow. Maybe what she needs is to ditcht the blond

  28. Crystal says:

Kiki looks flawfree. She really is the Queen on Cannes. I hate pink but she rock it well. WERQ !!!

Kristen…That dress is ok but the fit is just off. I like the bead work but that’s it really. I swear Balenciaga have really been trolling with these outfits they put Kristen in. I’m starting to think they’re Harry Potter fans who secretly hate her and try to make her look as bad as possible.

The look could have been worse…Met Gala anyone ??? Balenciaga need to leave my bb Kristen alone…

Footface Pattinson looks tired. Poor thing. Or maybe he’s hungover…

Garrett…Lord I’d hit it so hard. He is yummy.

It seems that Kristen’s performance is getting good reviews so I’m interested in seeing this movie. Considering some critics gave her good reviews in Twilight, I don’t trust their opinions anymore.

What’s going on with Cosmopolis ??? Has anyone seen it ??

  29. CTgirl says:

Kiki looks great and KS is meh. KS really should take some shampoo and a brush to her hair.

  30. Joie says:

Kristen looks beautiful. ROb looks hot. I’m glad that they we’re able to add some sparkle since there was no Brange.

  31. Aria says:

Kiki looks smug as Natalie Portman did during her Black Swan tour, premiere, award season o whatever. Maybe she’s preggo.

Kristen S looks like she needs a shower.

  32. LAK says:

i am surprised Sienna Miller missed an opportunity to walk the red carpet

  33. aquarius64 says:

Stewart’s dress is a big improve over the Marchesa mess at the UK SWATH premiere. This dress should have been worn at the MET Gala instead of the one that looked like a drunk seamstress put it together. However, the hair looks messy for this kind of gown and the Stewart Slouch comes through on some pictures, ruining the look. I wish she learns not to look like she’s in a hostage video.

  34. Effy says:

This girl’s hair might be really untamed.

  35. moo says:

she’ll never impress me as a dress up kind of girl….

  36. shailee says:

Kristen looks beautiful, her make up was flawless, and how nice of Rob to show up and support his girlfriend.

Kristen is getting great reviews, bye, bye Bella

  37. TXCinderella says:

I think K-Stew and Kiki both look pretty, and thank God Tom Sturridge trimmed his nasty looking beard!

  38. maggiegrace says:

The Keekster has a fuller face so I wouldn’t be surprised…. I used to irrationally loathe her, now I just as irrationally love her.

  39. Caro says:

Pattinson came to support his (boy)friend Tom Sturridge, having Stewart there is a nice coincindence.

Underwhelmed by On the Road. Frequently fails to capture magic & rhythm of the book, or sense of time. Hedlund miscast, K-Stew good #cannes

    Xan Brooks ?@XanBrooks
On the Road screens at Cannes. Stylish, tiresome loop of pretty faces & chambray romanticism. But oh, Viggo Mortensen is terrific

    Damon Wise ?@yo_damo
On The Road about as good as it could be; lovely to look at but episodic and verbose

    David Jenkins ?@daveyjenkins
ON THE ROAD (Salles) Tediously literary, self-consciously pretty and shallow as a puddle. Was willing this to end from minute two. #cannes

ON THE ROAD is like watching the video rushes of someone else’s beatnik-themed stag party.

ON THE ROAD: Yasss, yasss… Salles gets Sal, Dean, Marylou & Kerouac & all the madness & sadness & angels sur la route. #Cannes

    Ryland Aldrich ?@RylandAldrich
Keruacdaptation mostly successful. Salles does a commendable job of capturing spirit & velocity of ON THE ROAD in accessible story. #Cannes

    Ryland Aldrich ?@RylandAldrich
Kristen Stewart brings little to ON THE ROAD past her vacant gaze & pointy little tits. Kirsten Dunst only slightly better. #Cannes

    Ryland Aldrich ?@RylandAldrich
But ON THE ROAD supposed to be about Sal & Dean and Sam Riley & Garrett Headlund do very well at that. Tom Sturridge good as well. #Cannes

On the Road – great doc naturalism and sense of place (Motorcycle Diaries: 2, essentially) but it entombs the zeitgeist more than lives it.

ON THE ROAD is more on the razzle. Or perhaps The Inbetweeners with added Proust and prettier boys.—

ON THE ROAD: I always assumed that would be a difficult film to make perfect. I was right! #Cannes

Disappointed by Walter Salles’ ON THE ROAD sadly. Too too too long and not that special. Enjoyed it but was expecting much more!

    Daniel Nussbaumer ?@NussbaumerTV
“On the road” by Walter Salles: Pretty aimless story with too many road trips. I liked to use of 1940s/50s jazz though. Not a winner.

    Hollywood Elsewhere ?@wellshwood
Walter Salles’ On The Road is masterful and rich and lusty, meditative and sensual and adventurous and lamenting all at once.

    Hollywood Elsewhere ?@wellshwood
On The Road, yes, is episodic and roaming — how could it not be? — but like Salles’ The Motorcycle Diaries, it works.

On the Road, a beautifully crafted, largely fine film that, alas, nevertheless lacks the fire. #impossibletask

    @CineVue
#Cannes2012 On the Road: a handsome recreation of a novel that unfortunately cannot escape its own cliches

@firstshowing On the Road: Rambling, vintage, sexy, smoke-filled bounce around America 40s. Long journey, gorgeously shot, but tiring.

ON THE ROAD (to boredom) is criminally conformist and without a single beat of interest #Cannes2012

    @GuyLodge
To state the obvious, On the Road is clearly not unfilmable. Sam Riley might be, though.

    @PWellinski
ON THE ROAD (D+) should’ve been called in the loop-clearly the weakest of all Walter Salles movies, he never reaches the core of the book

    @MatchCuts
ON THE ROAD (C-): Soulless, like being stuck in a car with beatnik assholes for 2+ hours. Has none of the book’s danger, allure. #Cannes2012

The Telegraph: “Many have speculated that On the Road, Jack Kerouac’s seminal beat novel, is unadaptable for the screen, and Walter Salles’s game attempt suggests that this may indeed be the case. Despite its pretty cast and sun-ripened colours, the film quickly settles into a tedious looping rhythm of Sal Paradise (Sam Riley) experiencing some kind of beatnik debauchery with co-wanderers Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund) and Marylou (Kristen Stewart), before retiring to a shady corner and scribbling wildly in a notebook. Neither the journey nor the destination seems to matter a jot.” 2/5 stars

The Playlist “Cinematographer Eric Gautier (“Into the Wild,” “A Christmas Tale”) does incredible work, but after a while the film feels like any other roadtrip — no matter how beautiful the scenery flickering by through the window, eventually you just want to get out of the goddamn car. • Susie says:

Mainly positive with amazing comments about the cast’s performances

      http://ontheroadfilm.livejournal.com/111539.html

    • Lila says:

Wow, it’s seriously pathetic that you did all of that…Over invested, much? All of the actors for the most part have been getting good reviews for their acting (yes, even KStew…Variety and The Hollywood Reporter gave her kudos)…the film itself is mixed.

      • Lila says:

I don’t understand searching, cutting, and pasting multiple reviews (and obviously cherry picking the poor ones, although some of those reviews were not bad at all) just to be negative…I get overly passionate, positive fans a bit ( still think they are psycho)..but I don’t get people who go to the same lengths to be negative.

      • Crystal says:

Pathetic??? The film is getting mixed to negative reviews (like the book did at one time). That’s what was posted. Most of the reviews didn’t even mention the acting. Would you have found it so pathetic if Halo had only posted the best reviews ??? Nope. Didn’t think so.
I don’t think halo was cherry picking the poor reviews considering there aren’t that many 5 star reviews floating about.

No need to be so butthurt…these reviews probably don’t even matter to the white, male, twenty-something hipsters on tumblr and instagram who salivate over this book even though they can’t even finish it. Most of them just carry it around for a few weeks, often putting it conspicuously on the table of the café where they are hanging out, trying to convince women (or men) that they’re interesting.

      • @Crystal says:

Jumping in here to say that I would think the same thing of someone who went in and cut and pasted numerous positive reviews and tweets. Reading them, I understand…Taking the time to post them and take excerpts, no comprendo on my part. Maybe one or two reviews, but not numerous ones. No need for you to get so butthurt and defensive over someone else. It is kind of sad to go and look up seven or eight reviews and twitter and then cut and paste it all on a blog. And you are dead wrong about no one mentioning the acting. Variety, Premiere, and The Hollywood Reporter (actual critics that are usually among the lines of Ebert, NY Times, and Village Voice, not random film blogs) are the most important critics there and all three praised the acting of Stewart, Hedlund, and Riley. Even some of the tepid reviews praised the performances. The general opinion seems to be the film is okay but too long, the performances are great. Why are you denying a fact? Give credit where credit is due. Hedlund and Stewart did well according to some of the major critics. You can disagree with those critics, but it’s stupid to act like they didn’t say it.

      • Crystal says:

        Um.
@ Crystal…firstly you need to put your own name down.

Secondly, I’m not here for butthurt K-Stew fans or haters to be honest so you can go back to celebuzz or wherever you came from.

Thirdly when I said they didn’t mention the acting I meant that the reviews Halo cut and pasted didn’t mention acting. Wasn’t talking about every single review published so you can take a stadium full of seats. I wasn’t denying any facts.

Lastly, I’m a fan of Kristen so if she’s getting good reviews then more power to her. Ebert and the Hollywwod Reporter also say nice things about Twilight so they’re opinions mean nothing to me tbh.

Dunno what’s pathetic about pasting reviews. I haven’t got any bloody time for it but it seems that the only reason you find it pathetic is because she missed out all the good reviews. If a fan had cut and pasted all the good reviews noone would call it pathetic.

An no, I’m not butthurt or defensive at all tbh. You can go back to Kristen’s fansite now. Bye.

Kiki Dunst pregnant with Garrett Hedlund’s baby? I. would. be. so. jealous. That’s all.

    • Lila says:

Seriously, she’s either gained weight or she is preggo…I’m kind of leaning towards the latter because of her face…

  44. B says:

Why doesn’t she EVER put her dang arms down or at least pose them better?!

  45. Emma says:

Robert Pattinson cleans up really nice.

  46. Kim says:

Oh Viggo! SOOOOOO handsome & talented. Its time for him to win on Oscar.

  47. Janet says:

That dress looks like it was made from a bedspread but it’s not as bad as some of the horrors she’s worn lately (notably that Marchesa thing that looked like it was scraped off the ceiling), but the slit adds nothing to it. And she’s never going to look good in anything she wears until she learns how to stand up straight.

Dunst’s dress looks really good on her and I love the color.

  48. cris k says:

Kristen looks really pretty, critics praise the work and talent of Kristen …… be a success!! Bring on the awards!

  49. carly says:

the movie has ggod/bad reviews, but most of them are PRAISING Kristen, I know it’s hard for some to read it, but looks like she did a great job.

  50. Khalesi says:

Is it just me or does Sam Riley look a combination of Stephen Fry and Kyle MacLachlan? Weird.

  51. LittleDeadGirl says:

Love the dress and she looks very beautiful in these pictures. She’s smiling more so I have to give the girl credit. She’s doing better on the red carpet.

  52. Lilly says:

i think kristen looks so sultry here. the dress isn’t for everyone’s taste, but i really like it.

ps did you really have to call him a ginger? that’s so offensive and junior high. i think redheads are beautiful. if i had naturally red hair, i would love it.

    • Another Nina says:

Well, this is how he referred to himself – ginger – during press conference. So, he is fine with it.

      • Lilly says:

that’s fine. the word ginger itself is an awesome word. i would rewrite history to redefine ginger to mean the awesomeness of being a gorgeous rehead, but i still think it was written offensively in the original post. “name that ginger, i can’t.” ? it’s cool if he’s trying to reclaim that word. i hate that it stems from a derogatory term, but i understand. but the person who wrote the post didnt know this as she didn’t even know who he was.

  53. fd says:

Kristen looks gorgeous. I like that her makeup and hair are not overdone. I don’t love the dress but it’s fine and I like the fabric. Kirsten Dunst’s dress is shapeless. Nice color, but shapeless.

  54. fluffybunny says:

It’s ill fitting, I think that’s the issue here. Does she ever actually get garments fitted? If you’re going to wear a garment that someone has painstakingly hand beaded it’d be nice to do someone the courtesy of making sure you show it off. Someone needs to tell her that she should just act like she likes doing press, hell someone should tell her to act like breathing the same air as our us lesser beings isn’t a chore. I will say her hair is a pretty shade of brown now. In some light anyway. I like the dress, don’t like the “actress” or her attitude. And before anyone says “well don’t read the posts then” I actually come in to have a laugh at her stans going on the attack.

Not seeing the film, I couldn’t even finish the book. It sounds like an interesting premise but every time I tried to get through a chapter I kept reading it like an episode of The Wonder Years. God only knows why Kevin was narrating the book in my head, but he was. I mean I love Kiki and Viggo and isn’t Amy Adams in it too? But I’ll pass.

“Does she ever actually get garments fitted? If you’re going to wear a garment that someone has painstakingly hand beaded it’d be nice to do someone the courtesy of making sure you show it off.”

“…it’s Balenciaga. She wore Balenciaga earlier today, and I’m guessing her fashion contract means she has to wear the label for day and night appearances.”

Why do you assume she didn’t show up for fittings? Wouldn’t it also be the responsibility of the designer to make sure the garment fits? I’ve never heard of her being late or unprofessional.

Well if she had it fitted, the garment wouldn’t bag and pucker like it does. And the designer cannot get the garment to fit properly if there’s nothing it fit it on. Sure they would have received her measurements, but they fluctuate and a dress like that would have taken a significant amount of time to create.

I haven’t heard of her being unprofessional or late either, but her continual stream of ill fitting, poorly put together red carpet ensembles leads me to believe she doesn’t bother having them fitted. Hey, I could be wrong.

  55. KatC says:

I haven’t read the book, so I’m hoping that some here who have can help me out. I’ve heard that Kerouac meant for it to be a pretty scathing portrayal of the beatnick lifestyle, and that it’s commonly misunderstood by most readers to be the opposite.

Given that, is it possible that the movie is actually faithful the the book in that it shows how empty and boring the former day hipsters were, despite their active lives? Or should it matter, if the movie is ultimately not entertaining?

  56. Anna says:

Dunst reminds me of Danes when she’s styled like that. Danes always wears pink.

  57. Amy says:

I love Kirsten’s dress! I think she looks gorgeous. As for KStew, I like the dress but I think it would look nicer with a shorter hemline. I’m not her biggest fan, but she can wear quite a few looks and doesn’t look too great when she’s draped in a skirt like that.

  58. SJI says:

Why do they have to keep putting these out of place belts on everything? You have a nice dress, and then you ruin it with a belt that looks like it was just thrown on in a random dark color. Match the damn belt to the dress, how hard is that?!
