Katy Perry has done the unthinkable and appeared completely (?) make-up free in a new video for her upcoming Part of Me 3-D concert movie. Unlike the movie’s trailer, it sure looks like Katy’s entirely bare-faced in this promo, which is a far cry from both her overly underdone “minimal” music video Marine look as well as Katy’s usual excessive war paint and drag-queen makeup tendencies. Here’s the video clip, and it’s actually rather endearing to watch if one ignores Katy’s quirky face pulling:
See? She looks like of cute here and much better than I expected after Russell Brand posted that really awful photoon Twitter of Katy waking up from a nap. While I really like Russell, that was a d-ck move. Here Katy looks so much younger without all of those false eyelashes and piled on face paint. While I understand her need to do so onstage, she could easily afford to go a bit more casual on a day-to-day basis. Considering how much makeup Katy usually wears though, she looks surprisingly decent here though, right?

Judging from the pictures, she HAS eyebrows, they’re just very light. My own brows are pretty full, but the hair is so light they look patchy sometimes, so brow powder is a must. Good for Katy Perry for figuring this out. Now if someone would just pass the tip on to Britney…

Mine are as dark as Katy’s hair dye but thankfully they are on the thinner side so I don’t have Madonna brows. EWW! I’d rather have to do some extra painting.

Well her eyebrows look better when she pencils them in. Eyebrows make a huge difference to someone’s face. She still looks pretty though.

I think she looks adorable. She looks like a real person that you would want to have as your really good friend. The over made-up look made her seem like Barbie and not real. I love this look but I get that she has to do the Barbie look or close to it for her work.

Eh. I actually expected her to be much prettier without war-make up, like most women are.
She does look younger (seriously, no eye make up can make any woman look five years younger, and much more sunny/innocent), but not as pretty as I thought she would be.

Soo much prettier! She usually wears so much eye make-up and weirdly it makes one of her eyes appear much larger than the other.
All she needs is to paint in her eyebrows slightly and put on a bit of mascara. But I guess that doesn’t go with her whole bubble gum pop image.

She really does look like a different person, like anyone I’d see walking around the mall.
She has great skin (hard to believe, with all the makeup she wears), & a pretty face. She’s annoying as hell, but I have to give her props for being brave & self-confident enough to actually ‘expose’ her real ‘self’ to the world. Other celebs who’ve claimed to be makeup free have usually looked like they were lying, but Katy definitely isn’t.

and i’m so glad that all the makeup and paint she slathered her face with haven’t done any lasting damage yet). i hope she’ll read all the positive comments and not become a paint junkie.
(i have a cousin, not very much older than me, who is “addicted” to makeup. basically it damaged her face and now she has to put on even more makeup to cover up. it’s a vicious circle)

She had pretty bad skin. She has here makeup no makeup – at least foundation and concealer. Her skin is too smooth and there is no any discolorations or redness. Too perfect to be real.

She has TERRIBLE skin, are you kidding me? That’s why she piles on the makeup. She’s not bare-faced here either, I believe, just went lighter on the makeup.
I’m not judging her for having bad skin (it happens, we all know), just that, I’m sure, she could find a better stylist to help her cover whatever problems she has.

I think she looks really good w/out all the makeup. I honestly thought she was “hiding” something because she not only wore makeup, but ALOT of makeup.

She’s cute! She looks a lot younger without all the make up. But I understand how it’s part of her “persona” and why she wears it.
As for those wondering about her terrible skin- she is a proactive skin care spokesperson. So maybe it really has helped her skin. It works for many people.
I wish she’d get rid of the purple hair she’s sporting lately. I don’t think it’s flattering to her (as well as the dark lipstick). I think she’s so cute with black hair.

Lol I can SO relate to her plight. Katy is naturally dark blonde and dyes her hair black. I have medium brown hair and dye my hair black. We are both pale with blue eyes and light, barely-there eyebrows. If I don’t fill mine in, I look like Katy does. Cuz the thing is, the eyebrows ya DO have get washed out by the flash of the camera. It IS pretty amazing how she looks like an entirely different person. I’ve said it before, but there are precious few celebs who can pull off the no makeup thing and look pretty and like themselves: Jessica Simpson, J. Lo, and Jennifer Love Hewitt come to mind. Without the makeup, they still look like cute women, just less made-up versions of themselves. Katy looks totally different.

There have been pap photos of Katie without/minimal make-up and she does look pretty. Everybody looks horrible when they first wakeup in the morning. It was rude for Russell to do that.

Oh my, she looks exactly like my teacher (my teacher’s gorgeous). That’s a good thing. She looks fine, not stunning, just ok pretty. I thought she looked plain when she posed next to VS models on their fashion show. VS models aren’t conventionally pretty but they are super stunning. Also, remember her make-up less face Russel Brand posted on his twitter? She looks so ordinary there. She looks so cute on the youtube clip above. So yeah, better than expected… better than Zooey Deschanel sans fards (sorry Zooey).

Yup, same here! I do leave the house without make up for small errands, but I have blonde brows and lashes that can’t be seen without make up. My eyes are big and kind of round… so without mascara, I look like a fish!!

I wonder if the Katy Perry’s and Lady Gaga’s, who generally look like the average woman, hide behind their makeup and crazy outfits because of their insecurities. It’s a shame because it would be nice to see these successful women looking more like average girls. Even Adele piles on the makeup and I think she doesn’t need that much either.

I think I remember reading somewhere about Adele being self conscious all the time (about her weight, mostly). But she’s also a very private person who runs from the spotlight (enough so to wear a trench coat & PJ bottoms on an outing so no one would recognize her xD)
But I think Adele keeps it pretty tame compared to Katy & Gaga.

My thought was Katy has guts because now she will be recognized on the street when she runs around without make up.

I blame that crap for my sun-damage splotches. In 2004 I had lovely even toned skin. In 2005 I worked for them and had free or really cheap Proactiv up the wazoo. I wore SPF60+ that I ordered from Europe and everything like I normally do but by 2006 my face was as mottled as Michael Bay’s – coincidence? I think not.
Now I need to get lasered – sigh.

Ugh! I used it around the same time, and ended up with the same problems! My skin was red to begin with and it got even more irritated. I think when they tell you a product will basically bleach your towels, you should stay away from it!

I agree with those who have said she’s not completely without makeup here. She’s at least wearing concealer or light foundation, and some light lip gloss. No way would KP ever go completely bare-faced if she knew she was being filmed. But still, it’s effectively the same thing, right? She’s not “done up” so we can actually see what her real face looks like.
I remember when she & Russell were married, he said in an interview that he thought she looked the best without makeup, and that he loved her first thing in the morning when she woke up “all confused and annoying” (he said this with affection). So however ill-advised it was for him to tweet that infamous photo, I honestly don’t think he meant it to be as much of a “dick move” as it seems.

For tv/film especially HD, you need make up – its compulsory, because the camera picks up every single flaw whether u have good skin or not! Working in film myself you tend to get used to the hours of make up that music artists put on.
So no she isn’t make up free at all, it looks like she has two different foundations on and heavy concealer – just ‘make up less look’ which is popular.
