Jessica Simpson shows off Maxwell on baby’s first People Mag cover (update)

After gestating for what felt like a year and a half, Jessica Simpson finally gave birth to her daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson on May 1. Almost immediately, there were reports that Jessica had cut a deal with People Magazine for the first, exclusive baby photos – at a reported price tag of $800,000. Well, here you go. Baby Maxwell’s first magazine cover. I swear, Jessica is wearing the same nightgown that Angelina Jolie wore in twins’ first baby photos too.

Since Jessica Simpson and her fiancé Eric Johnson welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1, “life has completely changed,” Simpson, 31, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “From how I sleep to what I think about, Maxwell has definitely taken over everything!”

In this week’s issue, Simpson and Johnson give an exclusive interview, plus share the first photos of their little one, who’s inherited her mom’s eyes and her dad’s calm demeanor.

“We stare at her all the time,” says Simpson. “We can’t get enough!”

But becoming new parents hasn’t been without its hardships. Recovering from surgery – Simpson delivered via C-section – isn’t easy, she says, and nursing, which she does throughout the day, has become “a full-on job.”

Still, “It’s the worst if I have to pump and give Eric a bottle to give her,” says Simpson. “I miss holding her and having that closeness.”

For more exclusive details about Maxwell’s first few weeks at home – including all the details of her birth, Simpson’s plans for a wedding and more children, and first photos of the new family – pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.

[From People Magazine]

I’m glad that Jessica talks about having a C-section and how hard it’s been. Once again, Jessica’s pregnancy and post-pregnancy seems in stark contrast to Beyonce’s “I gave birth naturally and I was back to stretching and working out within weeks” story.

As for little Maxi Drew… she’s a cutie. Chubby cheeks!! I like that Jessica put a little hair band on her, and I like that Maxi isn’t even awake, it seems. So cute.

    Awwww… what a cutie… 🙂 Congrats, Jess and Eric!!

  2. lola says:

    beautifull,congrats!!!

  3. Lukie says:

    Big fat yummy baby!

  4. Jackie says:

wow. that is one BIG baby.

  5. RocketMerry says:

Awwww, too cute! Pretty pretty pretty pretty!

Man, now I totally feel my “never ever have a husband and child –> stay away from trouble” policy shake. Darn it!

  6. marie says:

what a cute baby, love the chubby cheeks.

  7. Boo says:

I think it’s the smart celebrity Mom who acknowledges that having a baby is difficult and that it is a struggle to adjust. All of us nanny-less moms out here in cyberland know that that first baby is a whole new life–both vastly wonderful and terribly hard–and I like Jessica for not pretending that it is all sunshine and lollipops. Beyonce just added fuel to her baby-pillow-scandal fire by suggesting that giving birth was a snap.

    • Ainsley says:

I agree! Parenthood is something to go into with realistic expectations. I think the reason so many new moms experience depression is because things don’t turn out perfectly and they feel like failures when they shouldn’t.

      • MollyB says:

Agreed! This is so much sweeter and more relateable than Gisele’s “I was up making pancakes for my husband hours after giving birth” bs.

      • TQB says:

Totally agree. I love the way she talks about the challenges but also the overwhelming love. Really like her acknowledgment that pumping = missing a snuggle. I feel the same way.

    • Rhea says:

As much as I’m also not really sure about Beyonce’s pregnancy, I have to say that there are women that gave birth fast and quite easily. Not enduring as much suffer as other.
But it’s true that Beyonce really seems like want to convince us everything is as easy as a snap (without mentioning a lot of help that she’s getting 😉 ) from the start of her pregnancy until losing her pregnancy weight.

      • Becky says:

Like kourtney k who grabbed that baby and pulled it out of her vagina in less than 10 seconds. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it w my own eyes ( thanks Ryan S.)

    • Rory says:

It was a snap because someone did it FOR her. She ruined her last shred of credibility when she stated “many hours of labour.” That’s what sealed it. I’m not even a mother and I know that ANY woman who has given birth knows exactly to the minute how many hours their labour was.

      • the original bellaluna says:

Word to that. My oldest will be 22 in August; the youngest will be 3 tomorrow. I can tell you how long I was in labour with all three of them, and how long I pushed to birth my first two, as well as the exact time they were born. The youngest was an early ER C-section, and I was out of it, but I was in labour with him for a little over 36 hours.

      • Lukie says:

        Agreed.
I have never given birth, but I have been in the birthing room a few times for family and friends. I STILL remember how long each mother was in labor and when the babies arrived.

How I can remember, but a mother can’t is more than a little odd…

      • Elsker says:

I don’t know exactly how long either of my labors were (somewhere between 7 and 12 hours for both) and the last one was only a year ago… One was induced so I know my hospital check in time but I didn’t care to note when exactly the pains ie “labor” started. As for my other, well, i guess not everyone looks at the clock and writes the time in their diary when their water breaks.

      • MW says:

Wow, you are absolutely right, Rory! I guess I’m being kind of a b*tch but I can’t wait to see if Bey’s belly button has that unavoidable droop like every woman who has given birth. I noticed none of her outfits for her new tour are low enough to tell. Guess her designers thought of that, too.

      • Geekychic says:

My mom is mother of three, and We all came into this world relatively easy (if a little premature), with under three hours of labor. My sister has 3 children-and they didn’t take 3 h to deliver. Still, ask my mom or Sis how long it took for each Child-and they wouldn’t know the exact number.
It’s not bc It’s all conspiracy, But bc woman in my family consider birth something natural, something their bodies Are naturally equiped for-not a disease.
Actually, when my mom gave birth to my youngest sister-some people thought We adopted her-My mom is tiny and her belly never left the look of the first trimester-couple that with the fact she was 40… The tongues were working for quite some time!!
EVERY woman can have different, individual pregnancy. Can We STOP judging on a limited experience (the Only you’re allowed to have!!)?????
You know, There Are cultural differences in carrying your Child-all over the world. For instance, circumcision on babies?? In my country, It’s considered inhumane, on the verge of sadistic. It’s performed Only in orthodox religious families in my country.
But I’m not calling mothers in USA inhumane and not Real mothers-It’s a different culture, i’m trying not to be judgmentAl.
        Because we’re all DIFFERENT.

“if you Don’t remember the exact hours of labour-you didn’t do it; if you weren’t a BiG, unmoving ball half of the time-you’re not pregnant( my mom swam, picked cherries, fell on the rocks, traveled on another Continent-While pregnant)!!….
So, now we’re told what Kind of pregnancy we’re supposed to, allowed to have??!! Just the one majority approves of???
Weak and sad in this day and age when women should accept their differences and one another-but all We do is judge.

  8. mel2 says:

She’s a doll. I’m sure we will be seeing alot of baby Maxwell.

  9. Cleo says:

Is it just me, or is Jess’ face ‘shopped’ to the max on that cover!?

    • Kaye says:

She doesn’t even look like herself.

    • I.want.shoes says:

      Thought so too.

    • TQB says:

Whatever. I would have killed for some airbrushing a month after my son was born.

      • DreamyK says:

Seconded! Recovering from childbirth, breastfeeding, 4hrs sleep a day, colic etc..does not make for a rested mom. I would have loved to have been airbrushed in pics the first month after giving birth.

        Adorable baby!

    • Fritzi Schnitzer says:

She looks like Kyra Sedgwick now. WTH?

  10. clare says:

If the cover hadn’t stated her name with that picture, I would have thought that was Ice-T’s woman – Coco?- holding a baby!
    Baby is cute, though!

  11. Elisabeth says:

    they airbrushed her neck

  12. sarah says:

    1) CUTE baby!!

    2) Whoa BOOBIES!!

  13. Chatcat says:

Jess looks good and that baby is too adorable!!!! One of the more natural celeb/baby People covers in a very long time!

    • Snarky says:

      Natural?? Try photoshopped.

    • pwal says:

      Natural… not so much.

The baby looks natural, but Jessica looks weird, like her face is pulled too tight. My hope is that she didn’t sign off on the photo tweaking, since it seems to contradict the image she was projecting before giving birth and when she embark on the Weight Watchers campaign i.e. I’m human and that I’ll take whatever happens in service of having a baby.

  14. Missy says:

I bet she’s glad she chose the c section now, that baby is so massive I think having her naturally would have ripped her apart!

    • Agnes says:

or the baby might have not even fit through the birth canal – the docs might have scheduled the c-section.

    • judyjudy says:

My second born was a giant a baby, 10 lb, and I birthed her vaginally (at home). I’m a small woman and my body (and girly bits) snapped back quickly. It’s amazing what a body can do. The main factor is the head. If the baby has a big head – ouch, trouble. But if the head isn’t big, the rest of the body is just chubby smush and is easier to deliver.

      • Belle says:

Have to disagree just a bit on this one… my second was 10 1/2 pounds and got stuck at the shoulders, with the doctor nearly having to break her collar bone to deliver her.

My lady parts didn’t snap back quickly, having had a grade 4 tear (for the second time, as my first baby was a difficult delivery as well).

In retrospect, I firmly believe both of my deliveries should have been via c-section. Oh, and no… I did not have GD with either pregnancy though both babies were big (my second being the biggest). They are now a skinny-minnie 15 and 10 year olds(:

      • Seagulls says:

You can birth big babies, but a lot of it is how the baby is positioned (well, and head size…). Spinning Babies!

      • MollyB says:

The head size is rarely the problem. Big ass babies with bowling ball heads can just fly out but babies who have shoulders wider than their head can get into big trouble. I had to have c-section with my second for that very reason.

  15. birdy says:

Interesting she went to the nanna nightie route that Angie took when she posed with a newborn. Jess does look a bit photoshopped but thast was to be expected.

  16. Rhiley says:

She is cute. She looks like a little Cabbage Patch Kid.

  17. Mia 4S says:

Pimp that baby Jessica! Gotta stay relevant some how! Cute baby but let’s call it what it is. It’s not like anyone would be talking a out her without it.

  18. jelly says:

i imagine this comment won’t make it to the wall, but am i the only person who doesn’t find most, if not all, human babies kinda’ ugly. i mean, out of all the babies in all the species, a newborn human versus a foal/calf … no way, the human just looks like a glorified caterpillar. and this baby is no exception; it’s pretty ugly.

    • kristiner says:

She’s not “ugly” but she’s definitely not “cute”

Most babies look busted until at least 6 months when their features start coming in.

9lbs, 13oz is a lie. Maxwell is a biggin. She seriously looks like those gestational diabetes babies. She’s 11lbs for sure.

She’s the same size as Harper Beckham and how old is Harper again?

Jessica does sound happy so I’m happy for her. It’s a nice change from Fakeyonce’s SUV hopping, bump fluctuating pregnancy.

On a diff note: WTF did they do to Jessica’s face? She looks Botoxed and like a cat woman in the mouth they shopped her face so much. Yuck.

      • jc126 says:

She might have been 9 lbs. 13 oz. (jessica is short), but I totally agree that the baby looks like those born to moms with GD. I just saw a blurb about the cover on the Today show and made the exact same comment you did!

      • Kimble says:

I would lay money on her being a diabetes baby – classic look.

        I wouldn’t have recognised JS’s photoshopped face!

      • Amanda_M87 says:

Yeah no way that baby was 9 lbs 13 oz, she’s massive! And with the cravings for bad foods that Jessica said she was giving into, I’m not surprised.

      • littlestar says:

Forgive my ignorance, but what does a gestational diabetes baby look like? The big head and very chubby face??? I’m quite curious to know.

      • orion70 says:

“not ugly and not cute either”

I think the word you’re looking for is “breathtaking”

        😉

      • normades says:

@littlestar: I have a friend who works at a maternity ward and told me a “GD baby” as y’all are calling it, we’re horribly unnaturally fat. They looked like they were pumped with water to the point that even their skin looked too tight for them.

There is a difference between a baby born from a mom who had GD but kept it under control so was born a healthy weight and a baby whose mother had GD but did not. I don’t think “GD baby” is a good term.

I am of course saying this because I had GD but kept it under control and had a healthy weight baby.

      • Samigirl says:

I guess I got lucky. My “GD” baby only weighed 6lbs 5oz (3 weeks early), but I took care of myself and kept with the diet. If you don’t…your kid can be huge. Had Harlow gone full term, she would have been a 9 pounder :-/

      • Lukie says:

Some babies are just jagunda babies.

My Godson was a big freaking baby @ 9 lbs., 11Oz., 22″. His mom did not have GD.

Also, let us remember she is breast feeding. Mother’s milk is more fattening & makes yummy, fat, babies with rolls (at least all the breast fed babies I know).

I think Maxwell is yummy. I want to bite her cheeks!

      • Karen says:

You’re accusing her of lying about her baby’s weight? Bleh.

It almost seems like people are disappointed she had a healthy baby after everyone ragged on her that she wouldn’t and now people need to insist something MUST be wrong no matter what she says.

    • Agnes says:

i don’t find babies in general cute either. some of them are very cute, but not the vast majority. 🙂

    • bluhare says:

Thank you Jelly. I think they could have found a more flattering shot of that baby.

    • QQ says:

I with you Jelly, vacilating between ” Um Really” and ” Um do they get cute after?”

But seriously in another note all that baby pimpage and her own body oversharing is was got us to the point where Ann “Fucking Cant Interview for shit” Curry and People ” Live in Celebs anal cavity” Magazine are openly in an am show artlessly discussing “her gut” ” when is she starting the weight loss” “how many pounds is she losing” and “motherhood is everything she expected it to be” and wht not… And is frankly, completely gross

      • Seagulls says:

Hey! That’s what I call Ann Curry, too!

      • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

All that you say is true.

I remember being in a book store some years back and getting the stink eye from a stranger for the crime of gently chuckling at a bookmark that read, ‘Don’t Have Ugly Children’. What am I to do, literally not judge the books and their accessories by their content? Feh!

    • mary simon says:

Not the best picture. They could have showed the baby off much better had Jessica been holding her in a more comfortable position.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I’m with you. I don’t find babies as cute as say kittens. Still some are cuter than others and this one is not cute in the least.

I had no idea about GD babies because my friend had GD and her baby looked normal. Reading about moms who kept on the diet makes sense. My friend kept on the diet and gained very little weight.

I have seen babies who look like this when I was a kid and had no clue that GD existed. The woman I’m thinking about totally pigged out so that was probably it.

The good news is that they grow up normally. She won’t always look like a cabbage patch doll.

      • jc126 says:

Not every GD baby looks like that, true. Nor does every 9 lbs. 13 oz baby have that look; I was just a half ounce under that, but my mom didn’t have GD and I didn’t have that “look”. It’s just that Jessica’s baby REALLY has that appearance. It doesn’t make me want to pinch her, it’s sad to see.

    • Otter says:

Omg thank you. My knee-jerk reaction was something more along the lines of “horrified.” All babies creep me out, but this one is especially not cute. D:

  19. lucy2 says:

Cute (and big!) baby, and I’m happy for her, but the selling the photos/magazine spread thing always feels a little weird to me.
It’s good to hear her talking realistically though – I agree it’s a stark contrast to Beyonce.

  20. Maritza says:

That’s a big beautiful baby! Congratulations to Jessica and Eric!

  21. dorothy says:

Little chunky monkey. What a beautiful baby.

  22. ShazBot says:

I know you’re pretty locked onto this Beyonce conspiracy, but Hilary Duff was pictured going into pilates 2 or 3 weeks post-birth. If a woman doesn’t have a c-section, a body can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to recover, and once it does you can go back to the gym if you want, and I’m sure these women with their night nannies aren’t nearly as exhausted as a real-life mom, so they have the energy to do so (and I guess motivation, as they are famous).

    • Chatcat says:

Shaz…I am locked into the Bey fake delivery of a baby because of the “prebirth” issues not the post. I mean I had 3 successful pregnancies, my first at 24 when I was in the prime of fitness and my baby never folded in half when I sat down nor could you get in and out of vehicles with the ease she did. I don’t care who you are, how fit you are, how much weight you gain or don’t gain, there is photo after photo and film clips showing her doing things that a pregnant body can’t. PERIOD.

  23. PrettyTarheel says:

Can we discuss whatever the hell the photoshop geniuses did with Jessica’s shoulder? Only at her very tiniest did Jessica Simpson have bony or little shoulders. She’s always had a very solid upper body, and when she gains any weight, that’s where a lot of it goes. You will never see her with a tee-tiny sharp shoulder, there’s going to be some meat on it. Talk about calling into question the validity of the whole picture. Did they just ‘shop a baby into it too?

    • Isa says:

I know right?!? Look at how wide her shoulder is! It’s like two feet away from her neck.

  24. Samigirl says:

It makes me soooo happy to hear celebs speak about breast feeding! Also, Maxwell’s outfit is adorable.

  25. Veruca says:

Cute pics — and when Jess comes out (in a year or so) and talks about her 50 – 60 pound weight loss (and the struggles of losing the last ten), at least we’ll believe her.

(Hey Samigirl! How’s the baby doing? 🙂 )

    • Samigirl says:

She is well, thank you so much! She’s up 2 pounds from her birth weight, and she’s only a month old. She only wakes up once in the night to nurse (her brother was an every hour and a half kind of guy), so I’m blessed to be able to sleep! She’s already smiling and cooing at me, and I think it’s the best thing ever! Thank you for asking 🙂

      • Veruca says:

You’re welcome! Glad to hear all is going well (and that you’re actually getting sleep!). 🙂

      • normades says:

Sorry, a bit late here, but CONGRATS Samigirl! Hope you are happy and well!

    • ol cranky says:

Jessica finally announced the contract with WW (that we all knew about).

  26. Meecey says:

Man those cheeks! Like a Sumo wrestler! All babies r adorable tho.
I didn’t even think of photoshop til u guys said it so I looked again…
Yikes! Congrats Jes n good luck on no buttered pop tarts now!! Lol

  27. someone says:

Why do all celebrity baby photo shoots involve beds and nightgowns? Are we to believe these ladies lay around all day breast feeding the baby in bed, and the photographer is simply documenting this? Honestly, do we need to stars in their nightgowns and beds? How about we get crazy and see a picture of a new mom wearing sweats rocking the baby in a rocking chair. That would be more believable.

    • Belle says:

More believable? Who in the world wants professional photos taken of them right after they have a baby, looking like crap? ANYONE who has photos taken with their new baby is going to want nice photos… it isn’t just a celebrity thing. JS is already being honest about life not being completely rosy with a newborn… and let’s be honest, if she did allow ‘real’ photos where she is in sweats, looking tired and crappy, then a bunch of people would be calling her a slob and suggest that the least she could do for a photo shoot was put something nice on and do her hair and make up.

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I don’t know why people do anything.

Jessica’s starting to look like Ana Gasteyer, no?

  28. Cathy says:

Congratulations to Jessica on her baby. She’s a cutie.

  29. constance says:

Congrats to her. (Nice thing said: check)

I hope she can stop parading herself around as a tabloid tart and raise her family. I am totally not surprised she is doing a photoshop’d cover for money. I bet her father is freaking out with the lack of Simpson desperation oozing out into the media. Has anyone seen her sister lately?

I guess I never put my sons in sack outfits and headbands, but I thought that was a female baby at first. They are so cute and ambiguous at that age.

  30. Len says:

The more I look at this picture, the more I think these are two different images shopped together. They put another head on the body…really weird!

    • bluhare says:

I just went back and looked and I agree with you. The angles look all wrong.

      • normades says:

Agreed, Jess’s head looks all kinds of weird. I bet the baby is ‘shopped too.

  31. Courtney says:

some of you are real dumb Maxwell looks nothing like A GD baby take a gander at the recent photos of Mariah Carey’s twins granted they’re 13 months old now but you can still see that she was a gestational diabetic. as for celebs selling pics of their kids to magazines get over it they’ve been doing it for nearly 3/4 a century if you don’t like it don’t look

    • bluhare says:

Just a suggestion. If you’re going to call half the posters on this thread dumb, you might want to make sure your punctuation, sentence structure and spelling are correct.

    • Samigirl says:

      Scandalous!

      • normades says:

YUP. Like I said above you can have GD (like myself or SG) and have a healthy weight baby with proper medical care and diet.

  32. Me says:

Awwwwww love this!!! She looks gorgeous as always and that is one chubby healthy baby! I love the chubster babies!! She should feel so proud!

The thing about certain celebrities sounding smug in regards to giving birth is the fact that most of them do it naturally. I have had 2 babies at home and totally naturally. Am I just one of the lucky ones who had easy births? No. My first took 3 days to birth, was born face up and had a head 2 inches bigger than the larger end of average fetal head circumference. I tore during both deliveries (3rd degree) and both times I had hemmorhages that needed double shots of pitocin (which my midwife carried so no hospital transfer was needed).

And despite all of that, after baby 1 was born I was up cleaning the bathroom within a few hours. After baby 2 I was at home alone with both of my girls the very next since my husband had a very demanding job at the time.

There is something to be said for doing it naturally and avoiding the standard hospital procedures. Medication, epidurals, fasting, machines and monitors and even IV fluids can really impact a woman’s strength. Im not knocking the medical way of giving birth (I was born via c-section!) but until you experience it totally naturally… you’ll always think the rest of us are kind of smug. Its not smugness. Its just a different experience.

    • Anahata says:

I don’t think most celebrities give birth naturally!! They love to schedule those c-sections. Not sure where you’re coming from here…
But also bear in mind a lot of women have no choice. If not for those dread IVs, epidurals and emergency c-sections neither I nor my daughter would have survived. Consider yourself very lucky you had the options (and the funds for a midwife) that you did.

  33. T.C. says:

Women have babies everyday they don’t get magazine covers. Pimping babies to stay relevant is getting old quick.

  34. Rory says:

Her face looks very jacked and Botoxed. She can’t even smile her usual smile.

    • CaramelKiss says:

Does being preggo and/or having a baby make you lose your chin cleft AND grow dimples? Jess NEVER had dimples and the shoulder being photoshopped to hell just makes her look unrecognizable! Thank goodness for headers.

  35. hillbilly in the corner says:

LOL…..Head been photoshopped on that cover…unless Jessica shoulders are 3 feet wide her neak is coming up out of her right shoulder area….lOL

Baby is cute but I sure can see why is was a C section, won’t want to try and push that head out on my first baby , at 8 lbs my first was hard enough…but ten , She would have been a only child………..
I agree with the fake Buyounce theory //because the woman never once waddled, or had trouble getting up or down out of a chair or a car and never dropped down in her last month…you know when the baby is laying right on your bladder and you have to walk spraddle legs to balance the weight between your hipbones…never happened….thats why …LOL

  36. chris says:

I thought being on the cover of People was reserved for celebrities or at least people of relevence. What has Simpson done lately, besides be pregnant for what seems (or looks) like the last 4 years? Does she have music or movies out? I’ve been sick of this chick since I saw what an idiot she was on that newlywed show with Lachey. Probably why he dumped her and married someone with a brain…

    • ZenB!tch says:

Vanessa has a brain? I’m no fan of Jess (or Nick) but I don’t even know why Nick and Vanessa still get papped. They are less relevant than Jess. She hosts some bad show on some channel. I surfed past it, saw some flaming dwarf fashion designer, screamed and moved along.

    • Snowflake says:

she is a millionaire thanks to her clothing and shoe lines. just b/c she’s not a famewhore doesn’t mean she’s unworthy of a people cover. so i’d say that “idiot” probably makes a lot more money than you. not bad for an “idiot.”

Ugh. Why do you have to make me defend Beyonce?

I’m about 60/40 on the Beyonce baby conspiracy (60% of me leaning more on the side that says she faked it). However, assuming she did physically give birth, why do their comments post-pregnancy have to be contrasted as if one person’s comments are more commendable than the other’s? Because Jessica gained more weight? What a pregnant woman eats is her prerogative, but clearly, Jessica chose to enjoy her pregnancy diet more so of course weight loss would be harder for her.

Also, as much as I dislike Beyonce, chick has a killer work ethic, and yes, that includes the workout regimen she chooses to follow. Even before their respective pregnancies, Beyonce clearly had the more disciplined diet and workout schedule.

Not saying one is more right than the other, but they are two different things and IMO, not comparable.

    • Ailine says:

Beyonce have birth to her baby. This conspiracy stuff is so tired and childish. There are at least two pictures of her with a pregnancy belly. I wish people would stop comparing their experiences with pregnancy with hers. Some people, like Gisele Bundchen, bounce back and don’t get that big while pregnant. Deal. With. It.

The dress folding thing depends on the fabric!!! Let the conspiracy die!!!

*Sorry this comment wasnt particularly aimed at you, but it was one conspiracy theory comment too many.

  38. Isa says:

Her baby looks like a Sing a Ma Jig Doll. They should’ve taken a better photo where the baby’s face wasn’t all squished.

Ashley’s face pisses me off. I can’t stand the way she sticks her face out in all her pictures. Why does she do that?!

  39. Chellez says:

Honestly, y’all need to shut up with comparing EVERY pregnancy to Beyonce! U single her out for her ability to get back in shape within wks after birth, but u haven’t said the same of Peaches, Keri Russel or any other celebrity in the past year and before who’ve done te exact same thing. To put it plainly, u don’t single out the white girls. Ever. But bcuz Beyonce was always a curvey black girl, it’s impossible for HER to do the same? As hard as that ho works?! Ignore security fotos that shows what an elephant she became like very other woman in her last trimester. Believe that stupid blogger Sandra Rose, who was once obsessed w Beyonce on her blog and since she was completely ignored, hated her since. She started these rumors and everyone fell for it and now, it’s a stupid distraction on ur site. That’s the only reason why this annoys me. U don’t know or have any facts, so can we stick to actual gossip and rumors with legs? Cuz this has none. #RantOver

    • Lorian says:

      Hi Lainey 😀

    • Nicole says:

Solange, don’t you have better things to do?

    • Ailine says:

I agree as well. People are just champing at the bit for the opportunity to knock Beyonce down a peg. Women can be so envious…

    • normades says:

Even after the dress folding in half video I wasn’t convinced Beyonce was faking it. What makes me believe it more and more are her sketchy post-delivery statements (in labor “for hours”, eating lettuce and breastfeeding etc…).

But I have always been VERY critical of Jessica’s pregnancy because I thought she was being very irresponsible and I don’t believe for a second that she will lose the weight in a healthy way.

My point is, please don’t make assumptions that people are critical of things because of race.

    • ZenB!tch says:

Please – I just called Jess’ baby fat and not cute.

Halle is nuts and Zoe Saldana is Hispanic not black. I don’t remember hating on Zoe by me or anyone else – unless we were saying she is too thin.

      @normades THANK YOU!

      • reinvent says:

Zoe Saldana considers herself to be Black. She describes herself as Afro- Latin.

  40. Diana says:

I think her chubby cheeks are adorable. Here is another pic from Who Magazine, that I think is even
    cuter:http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/120530/simpson_main_17sc531-17sc54u.jpg?x=400&sig=hi_iWgfgghkjSLP2X3HU7A–

    • Belle says:

      Jessica’s face looks strange in that one too…. but you are right, even cuter pic of the baby!! Darling, chunky little thing, isn’t she? (;

  41. skuddles says:

Whoa, chubby cheeks! Baby is very cute… Mama looks weird – is that photoshop or did she do something to her face??

  42. the original bellaluna says:

What an adorable little pork-chop! (The baby, not Jess.) 😉 I just want to nom-nom-nom her chubby little cheeks!

  43. Crazy Charlize says:

Damn, that is one fugly sprog.

  44. Adrienne says:

We are quite sure the gown Jessica Simpson is wearing on the cover of People is a “Queen Anne’s Lace Eileen West Couture” gown. Angelina Jolie’s People Cover was also an Eileen West gown.

    • Original Lucy says:

They probably photo shopped Jessica’s face onto Angelina’s body…but what did they do to her face…they should have photo shopped Angie’s face on her too!

    • someone says:

I just don’t get the nightgown thing. Why do all these celebs want their picture taken in a nightgown lounging in bed? It’s not like they are still in the hospital, where they might legitimately be wearing a nightgown.

  45. B says:

I never find newborn babies to be cute at all, but this one is especially…not cute.

  46. NM6804 says:

Where’s the Photoshop tool that says “add 10 years in the face”?

    • Siren6 says:

That’s some serious photoshoppin’ to perform a virtual lipo on that jaw and chin.

  47. UniqJaz says:

Isnt 800,000 a little bit of money compared to millions other celebrities get? Thats a very cute baby. She is gonna be a beauty when she grows up !

  48. F5 says:

Aww, bless her and all the little ones:)

  49. Camille (The original) says:

    *huge eye roll*

Next up is the roll out of the weight loss. Watch.

  50. tru tru says:

she admits to a C-section but NO TUMMY TUCK!!

I wish folks would STOP comparing Beyonce to everyone–IF she had a kid or didn’t the child is hers–bottomline.

now WATCH Jessica make millions off of this kid and her “supposed weight loss” and no one will utter a word, EXCEPT AAAWWWWW!

BUT if Beyonce had SOLD her kid’s pics, weightloss pics and started a baby clothing line–everyone would be “talking”…

    ROLLS eyes
    the double standard is ridicilous

  51. Karen says:

Everyone thought Blue Ivy and Hilary Duff’s baby were so gorgeous, and I thought they were ugly babies, and now this baby I think is adorable, and so many people are calling her ugly. I guess I really have totally different taste then the rest of the world.

Maybe its just because people don’t like Jessica? No one is as mean about other people’s babies and I kept my mouth shut up until now about the other two because I felt bad. Oh well, I’m okay with being different.

    • kristiner says:

Blue Ivy was kind of pretty. Her face was very mature for a baby.

Not gonna lie, Cruz is kind or alien looking. People say babies can look like aliens bu Hilary’s little boy does. His little head!

  52. lisa says:

I don’t like the cover. Jessica is a very pretty woman. The cover does not look natural. It looks like they had the picture in one setting and didn’t like it so they photoshopped it to put it in something different. Her shoulder looks weird and the hand placement does look real. Like they are not her hands at all.

I’m surprised the didn’t get a better picture of the baby. She looks like her father to me. But it’s early so time will tell.

I like baby covers. Don’t consider that pimping a child any more then some celebs that are seen everyday with their children. Why only some get called for pimping is beyond me.

    • lisa says:

OOps ok..now I see why the picture looks strange. They cropped out Eric for the cover. I had not seen the entire thing.

I saw the woman from People basically saying Jessica and Eric are having sex already. I thought you had to wait a while. We could see another Tori/Dean.

  53. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Does anyone else see the Giant Baby Lawyer from Ugly Americans?

  54. Kayla says:

I love babies but this isn’t a cute child. Lord knows I cannot wait for the day when we stop comparing all pregnancies to Beyonce’s. Jessica Simpson gets the biggest pass on this site had this been beyoncé selling pictures, profiting from her weight loss or launching maternity lines she would have been called every name in the book but Jessica gets an Aaawwww lol. I wish her all the best, motherhood is a blessing hope she enjoys it

  55. Chellez says:

My thoughtful response to @Normades gets deleted cuz I called into question the moderators, not commenters, unintentional racial bias. So y’all censor for real? Before I was posturing. Now I believe it’s fact. Whatever.

    • normades says:

Sorry to hear that. I would have liked to have read your reply. All opinions are valid.

But I think you can go to the Peaches post to see that the post-baby weight loss is up for equal opportunity quesioning. It’s just that Beyonce is a mega star and Peaches is not so of course people are always gonna come back to Bey.

  56. Carolina says:

I don’t care about Jessica or Beyonce’s baby stories; I’m just stunned at the terrible picture they chose of Britney. Did they use all their photoshop on Jessica’s arm and not have any left over to remove the piece of hair in Britney’s face?

  57. jane says:

    big ugly baby

  58. Kel says:

I agree they could have positioned the baby better. I’m sure she’s much cuter than she appears here.

  59. Katie says:

Congratulations to Jessica and Eric!! And thank you Jessica for being honest and real about what it’s like to be pregnant and then have a newborn.

  60. Sal says:

Why do people do that? Why do people have a beautiful little girl a go and ruin it by giving a little girl and very unfeminine, masculine name? Why? Whats the purpose? Whats wrong with giving a girl a beautiful girl name? Why do women go out of their way to give a girl a really unattractive/or masculine name? I’ll never understand.

  61. Her baby is lovely. However, I am rather freaked out by the shape of her face in this picture. It looks like someone went crazy with the photoshop wand.
