Duchess Kate wears soft pink McQueen for Jubilee church trip: lovely?

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations march on. Last night was the big concert, and this morning was the St. Paul’s Cathedral visit for something called a Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving church service or something like that. I’m considering doing a separate post for the Queen and the other royals, but I know everyone loves (to hate on?) Duchess Kate, so these photos are very Kate-centric. We don’t have any full-on views of what she wore to last night’s concert – you can see some photos of it here. Apparently, it’s a 150-pound dress from Whistles.

As for this morning’s trip to St. Paul’s Cathedral, Duchess Kate wore Alexander McQueen. AGAIN!! At least this one wasn’t a repeat, though. Some are saying this dress is “metallic” but really I think it’s just a really soft, sweet, flattering beige-rose. This color would look awful on most blondes, but on Kate it kind of works. And Kate still loved lace – if you look closely, this really seems like this dress has a well-cut lace-overlay. I’m not as “in love” with this dress as I was with the red McQueen over the weekend, but I like this fine. It’s completely appropriate and pretty, especially for a church service. I even like her Jane Taylor hat/fascinator thing.

Poor William, though. His bald spot is glistening in the sunlight.

    Beautiful!

    • brin says:

      ITA…gorgeous!

    • bluhare says:

I think so too. And her hemline is below the knee!! Probably because she had to spend the morning sitting down in the front row.

      • LAK says:

this is the first time i have seen a long hemline on her, excluding her wedding dress.

      • bluhare says:

Yep. I think it looks a tad frumpy, though. But practical.

      • sarahtonin says:

I’m OK with the length, it’s appropriate for a church service, especially one at St Paul’s. The only issue I have is that the lace makes the hem look frayed in some pics. Otherwise Kate Middleclass looks the part.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I think it was appropriate. It’s a fancy church dress. Am I wrong – I seem to remember McQueen being avant garde and edgy once.

To be honest, I hate all her clothes since she got married but looking frumpy is part of her job.

The $200 Whistles dress is my favorite, it’s not what I would wear to a concert but at least it looks like something someone under 60 would wear somewhere.

William looks so old and boring and stodgy.

    • corny says:

Fartsy Tartsy Barbie and Blah Baldy Ken.
      What’s the fuss all about?

      • Sabrine says:

Not much estrogen in that skinny body. She may have trouble getting pregnant unless she gains some weight. Wonder why they’re waiting? They’re not that young.

    • Egads! says:

I will get slammed for this, but so what? Royalty. What the heck is that? The Brits cling to this ridiculous notion that some incestuous, greedy, and selfish spawn decided that they were ROYALTY and that the masses should pay their bills, fill their coffers, build their homes, amuse their sons and basically, do whatever the heck they wanted because THEY were somehow superior. This is total BS. These people are not special. They don’t sh1t gold and they don’t help people. The Brits are idiots to follow these scum bags. If the bitchy old hag dies tomorrow, maybe that will be a wake up call. Perpetuating this farce is the Brits’ greatest mistake. Kate is a regular person. I hope William can be one too.

      • Hakura says:

LMAO! As an American, I can’t speak from experience, but I always thought of it as “Someone did something great for the people & became a hero of sorts, which gained him plenty more opportunities to be ‘in charge/gain’ admiration status…

So, in honor of that ‘hero’, they pass on the admiration to his children. And round & round it goes, to the point where many believe it’s inherited through actual bloodline…Thus starting the whole ‘incest’ thing while trying to avoid ‘contamination’.

Note – I mean absolutely NO disrespect to anyone, whatsoever, with this post. I’m just displaying the product of my ignorance in childhood as to how royalty ‘worked’ & why.

  2. LisaMarie says:

I clicked on that link thinking, “a 150 pound dress, holy hell I’ve gotta see this!” and then realized it was pound, as in British pound. I am oddly disappointed.

    • kay says:

I thought the same thing. lol!

I love this dress, the pinky one. just gorgeous.

    • Nicka says:

I did too! I feel like we got duped…I was expecting a huge, heavy, princessy, poof of a dress! 🙂

    • Lindy says:

Ha! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who did the EXACT same thing. In my defense, I need some coffee badly.

Actually, I love this pink/rose outfit. One of my favorite things she has worn. I liked the red dress from yesterday, too, but I think bright colors (like that red, or even the famous royal blue dress she wore for engagement pics) are too harsh on her. They bring out her angularity and emphasize her sharp, hard-looking face. This paler color and the cut of the dress–tailored but not sharply-defined with angles and stiff lines–does wonders for her.

    • Gabrielle says:

Same thing. I was like, why is it so heavy?

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Agreed..was expecting some huge “princess” gown lol

    • DeltaJuliet says:

Good lord, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that!

    • ZenB!tch says:

Me too. I did like that one although not for a concert. I would totally wear that dress to work. I’m guessing Whistles does not have stores in the US?

    • ClumsyMe says:

I clicked on it thinking “Dang, hows her skinny ass going to hold that heavy dress up?!”

  3. Amelia says:

I haven’t a clue what that colour is, I think beige-rose is fairly accurate. I was going to call it aged ivory … and this is why I have nothing to do with fashion!
In that last picture … is that a baby bump? Or just posture? ¬¬

    • Sisi says:

well, it’s been a long weekend with a few late nights, so I assume that’s just her microscopic version of party-bloat (and yes I was also looking at her stomach area with suspicion, I admit it 🙂 )

kinda unfair that her bloat looks this tiny, you should see my gut after a night hardly sleeping. Sometimes my pants won’t close anymore.

    • bluhare says:

      I thought it was peach!

      • bluhare says:

Talking to myself again, but in a close up on the DM site, it looks like taupe lace with a cream underlay. But they called it blush.

So, a true neutral as no one can agree on the colour!

  4. Lipsy says:

This is too obvious to say, but I love how both of them are so TALL.

  5. Anne says:

Once again she is dressed like a woman 10 years older than she is. I know some on here think she is being told what to wear but I actually think this is her taste. It’s dreadful, but if she’s happy so be it.

    No padded bra today.

  6. RhymesWithSilver says:

@LisaMarie- I did the same thing and thought “What did it have on it that it weighed so much?!” Derrrrrp…

  7. Jackie says:

i think she looks very pretty. too skinny, but pretty.

william is looking more and more like edward.

    • Hautie says:

      Kate really is thin-thin.

And I bet anytime she actually eats something solid. She gets a food packed, baby bump.

I dread the day she does end up pregnant. And the British tabloids make her life a living hell.

They will be on her for every pound she gains. Till she drops it all within a week of birth.

    • ZenB!tch says:

William is looking like Edward… LOL.

I said Old and Frumpy – same thing I guess.

  8. Green_Eyes says:

    She looks very lovely:)

  9. backwards says:

    She looks beautiful.
The Queen was also wearing a nice shade of mint. She must be worried about her husband in hospital, but hid it well. Such a stoic woman.

Harry, Wills and Kate looked so tired during the service. Must have been a big night!

  10. Khara says:

Everyone please notice the length of the hem, just below or on the knee, which is perfect, instead of always above the knee! This length is totally fitting for the princess she is supposed to be!
And the colour of the dress is lovely, very appropriate for church…but, please dear Princess, loose those cheap looking LKBennett shoes, they have been around for far too long!

    • Happymom says:

I’m guessing they are really comfortable and since she’s on her feet so much of the time-that wins out over breaking in new, more exciting shoes.

      • coconut says:

i think those gagoriffic shoes ruin this and all the other outfits she wears them with. i’m confident there ARE other relatively comfortable high heeled shoes.

    • LAK says:

@Khara – i was jumping for joy when i saw the length of the skirt.

Also, she went to McQueen again and once again the dress is tailored properly to suit her.

The colour is good on her. So once again well done Waity.

      • deep says:

@LAK..why do you give her a complement and then slam her by calling her “Waity”? Kinda underhanded I would say. And, by the way…she’s not waiting anymore. William married her over a year ago. And, before that they were engaged for a few months. So, again..why the “Waity” slam??

      • flower says:

It’s not Kate who is doing the waiting any more it’s us…..waiting for her to actually get into the swing of her job, she still barely does a tap of royal work (this weekend excluded) and of course she is still keep us and the royals waiting for the baby news not to mention she still waits on Wills beck and call (he is the boss don’t you know)…..so yes, still Waity.

      • Nancy Blue says:

‘Waiting’ for a look of love from chilly Willy. He usually looks as if he doesn’t want to be anywhere near her. This has been commented on many times in various blogs.

  11. Gossip PHD says:

Kaiser – can you do a post discussing her weight issues.

    • Anne says:

Kate is a woman with very little to occupy her time. I think a lot of her daily schedule is taken up doing what wealthy women who don’t have to work do; getting their hair done, eating very little, exercising a lot and wearing expensive clothes.

If there is a problem, there are plenty of people around who should know how to begin dealing with it. She’s seems to have a very supportive family and I’m assuming William doesn’t want to produce Bulimia/Anorexia: The Sequel.

    • bondbabe says:

      She’s young, she’s active, she’s skinny…. Let it go.

(Would you request a post if she were fat?)

      • Gossip PHD says:

Sorry- she is not “skinny”. Look at photos of her 2 or 3 years ago; She is a shadow of her former self.
I wish someone could report on her breath.

      • LAK says:

She told someone in the crowd on her first engagement after the engagement was announced after they asked her directly about her rapid weight loss, that losing weight was part of a plan!

So, no this is not natural. She wants to be this skinny even though she was pretty thin to begin with and many ana girls rejoice at her decision.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

I think it should be noted as an issue when there are pro-ana websites that exalt the skinniness of Kate. These groups are like “all hail Vic Beckham, Kate Middleton, Olsen twins, etc.” It’s sick.

      • Amelia says:

I’ve had an ED since I was 16 and I’ll admit to logging onto pro-ana sites every now and then (I’m tempted to put a filter on my laptop and give the passcode to my bf). And EmmaStoneWannabe you’re quite right – she’s cropping up an awful lot recently. The speed with which she lost the weight last year before the wedding is not normal. A similar thing happened to me. You have a goal or an event you want to lose weight for and then come that goal, you find yourself stuck in a hole you can’t climb out of. I reckon the Palace will keep any and all disorders out of the media though.
It’s a pity, it would be good to see this tackled rather than brushed under the carpet. She could be patron of BEAT.

  12. sandy beach says:

She looks very frail and is a shadow of her former (healthy) self. Wonder how the royals are dealing with this situation, thinking back to Diana’s problems. It’s the proverbial elephant in the room I guess.

    • spinner says:

I do not think Kate is too thin. I think she is mindful of her weight like most of us are. She is athletic & has great muscle tone & definition. She looks absolutely beautiful here. Love that shade of pink & that is one of the best fascinators I have ever seen. Love her.

      • blonde on the dock says:

ITA She looks gorgeous! Fabulous legs.

      • Mare says:

I agree. She looks normal and healthy. Her problem is that she has no hips and because of that appears too skinny in some photos but looking at her legs and arms, she looks fine.

      • sandy beach says:

Spinner, she was healthy and athletic looking BEFORE the dramatic weight loss. Now she just looks emaciated and quite fragile.

      • Mika says:

Kate is extremely thin! If you met her in real life you would see how thin she really is!

      • arlie says:

I think I am going to throttle someone if I hear one more comment on Waity’s great “muscle tone.” Waity does not have any muscle tone, as I have commented on here several times before. Her arm muscles are actually atrophied. They stand out prominently only because there is no fat around them. This is borderline anorexia. And perhaps you didn’t see the photos of her in the black velvet gown where her shoulder blades are sticking out like bat wings. It’s beyond grotesque.

    • flower says:

‘Naturally thin build’ is the ultimate denial line of those who have dieted (or vomited) themselves into runway model slimness but one of the best visual gauges of an eating disorder as opposed to a naturally slight build is the upper chest, hips and back. If the area between the neck and breast is obviously bony, with little fleshiness or the back bones are extremely prominent and well defined in a backless dress than that person is malnourished for their skeletal structure. You can see this on runway models some will be like walking skeletons (the bulimic/anorexic ones) others will look very lean but they still hove smoothly contoured bodies, not bony (the naturally thin ones)

Kate has been exhibiting the’bony chest’ signs for some time now, a couple of years ago she had a nice smooth upper chest and shoulder area, now it’s quite bony, which can be easily seen when she wears a low cut or sleeveless evening gown. I don’t think I have seen her in a backless gown or a bikini (recently) to tell if these areas have also been defleshed but I would put money on it. She is still young and hasn’t been overly thin for very long but if she keeps this up for the next 5years or more she will start to suffer severe health problems not only physically but mentally.

  13. deep says:

Kate does it again..simply flawless and beautiful from head to toe. As usual. Go Kate. 🙂 William and Harry look great too.

  14. Amy says:

I did the same thing with the dress link hahah but I saw the comments before I actually looked at it.

Hair pulled back again! Not one picture in this post of her playing with it! Yay Waity! Next step: the eyeliner.

  15. Stubbylove says:

Gorgeous and appropriate – love the color and hat. Damn she’s skinny but this look is really perfection.

  16. deep says:

I know this is off topic, but can anyone tell me why the Royals point? I was always told not to point and that it was rude to point. I have been watching the Queen this morning and yesterday and all of the Royals point. Why??

  17. Maura says:

Am i the only one who thinks william barely acknowledged kate yesterday and today. They seem so unlike charles and camilla whose love and passion for each other is always evident.

    • Suzie says:

I noticed this too. But then, I’ve noticed it on previous occasions and wondered if it was just me.

    • maemay says:

Check out popsugar they have nice pictures with kate and will smiling and laughing.

    • zut alors! says:

I noticed that when they were standing on the balcony today. Kate interacted more with Harry than William. Prince Charles and Duchess Camila on the other hand, seem very attuned to one another.

    • The Original Mia says:

I thought it was weird Kate didn’t sit between the brothers, so she could interact with Harry.

It’s clear she adores him, but I just don’t see the same adoration from him towards her. Maybe he’s stoic.

    • LAK says:

It’s become more evident with each passing month.

Many people commented on it, especially with the river pageant.

Pictures can be selective and subjective, but when you see the video…..eeekkk!! i know they’ve been together for many, many years but since they made it official, the wedding and Canada are the only occassions he has been openly affectionate towards her, in pictures and in video.

Charles/Camilla, even HM and DoE are still openly affectionate and in tune. W&C are not. This is a very one sided relationship.

      • bluhare says:

I hate it when I start to come around to someone else’s point of view. 🙂

      • LAK says:

Bluhare – it’s my powers of persuasion…’evil laugh!’

      • Minxx says:

Gosh, I noticed that too! In fact, I noticed it some time ago – she’s very much into him but he’s not all that crazy about her. I mean, he has this resigned look about him and it seems that Harry takes upon himself to amuse his sister-in-law. I was quite shocked to see that, at the concert, William basically ignored his wife and chatted and laughed with Harry. It’s sad to see so little warmth in him towards his young wife. When you look at other young royal couples, for ex. Spanish, Dutch or Danish, you see a lot of touching, warm glances etc. The Belgian crown couple is so clearly in love (after 4 kids), same for the Swedish princess Victoria and her husband, Daniel. I see nothing like that here and I don’t think that William is incapable of love, I start to think that he’s not IN love with his wife.

      • LAK says:

@Minxx – people always excuse his lack of warmth towards her by saying he was brought up that way or doesn’t indulge in PDA and yet there are many pictures on the internet at various occasions, sometimes with Kate present where he is warm, affectionate, laughing, touching, hugging other people.

The rumour that he settled for a trusted friend is gaining more and more currency.

      • Sachi says:

Don’t forget that walk around the park in Edinburgh right after Zara’s wedding that they did while holding hands…and looking angry and tense.

I’ve said it in one of my rants and crazy theories here on CB :D, that Kate is more relaxed around Harry and she laughs more freely with Harry. Heck, she’s more relaxed around Camilla and Charles than with her own husband.

When it’s just her and William at events, she’s always looking meek and child-like, as if looking to William for cues as to what to do next. William, for his part, has looked grim whenever Kate is asked/interviewed. You can tell he looks like he’s bracing himself for whatever she’s going to say. He seems like someone who’s anxious and scared that Kate will bumble again after that disastrous UNICEF interview. Not a good sign. I may criticize Kate for many things, but William doesn’t seem to have any confidence in his own wife.

And it always struck me as very strange that upon finishing his tour of the Falklands, William took a week-long vacation by himself, and then took another vacation with the MIDDLETONS, not with his wife. It would make more sense that he would want to be alone with her after 6 weeks because they’re still supposed to be at the honeymoon phase and he should have been so excited to see her. But William seems to enjoy spending his time with her family than with her only. Every vacation they’ve taken together, except their honeymoon, they did with Kate’s family.

I called him William Middleton before, and I stand by it. It was said in many articles that Carole Middleton worked hard to portray the family that William has always longed for: warm, caring, close-knit, etc.

I think he wants Kate’s family more than he wants her.

They never seemed like a couple in a passionate love affair. Even at the beginning of their relationship, they never struck me as two people who couldn’t get enough of each other. I’ve seen William be more affectionate with others than he has been with Kate.

They always came across as just being friends.

9 years is a very long time to be in a relationship, but in many photos of them together, you can count in one hand the number of photos that show William being loving, attentive, and affectionate with Kate.

This is why I never believe it when some people say that William and Kate’s story is a fairy tale and they look so in love. No, they don’t. I’ve yet to see them actually looking into each other’s eyes and silently communicating their love for each other. Just a quick glance would suffice. Or one photo of William looking tenderly at his wife. His cheating and philandering also make it hard for me to believe that William and Kate are so in love with each other. I doubt that Kate never felt humiliated and degraded after all of William’s shenanigans, no matter that she still took him and chased after him time and time again.

Their body language is often out of sync and they don’t appear as “one”, but more like two friends who got stuck in a marriage. Kate is more in sync with Harry and Camilla.

    • bluhare says:

No, Maura, you’re not. I really noticed it while watching the boat parade on Sunday. They hardly interacted at all.

But she’s had 10 years to decide whether to deal with William. I mean, if a man cheats on you and you let it go and go back to him, put up with it because he says he’ll marry you eventually (because you’re a “safe” choice), then you get what you get.

      • LAK says:

he wasn’t cheating, he was testing her! so says Rita Skeeter Junor!

      • bluhare says:

If my husband had tested me that way, his arse would be firmly planted in the curb.

And I bought that book. I hate myself for doing it. I’m going to start reading it today.

      • LAK says:

you know what’s amazing, most if not all of his girlfriends have dumped him for cheating except Waity.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that she advised Chelsy to take any cheating on Harry’s part in her stride because that is how royals are raised. I am happy to report that Harry has never cheated on any of his girlfriends.

I can’t bring myself to read that book because i already know how much it denigrates Diana in order to make Charles and William and by extension Kate look good. I think i would be curious to know just how much detail it has that is not already in the public arena regarding William, and how that was presented.

I think any man who tests his mate that way deserves a well aimed kick up the backside and a stomp.

      • Sachi says:

They did “interact”, although it wasn’t a gesture of love or affection.

Make of this video what you will:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aahTlfnIu0c

Look at around 1:15. William wasn’t gentle towards Kate at all, especially when her umbrella hit his hat and he started grimacing, crouching, and putting his hands up in response. You can see the way he flexed his hand and clenched his fist as Kate was going down the stairs, as if to calm himself down.

        What is up with him?

He seemed irritated with her and practically shoved her on her way with a small, impersonal touch on her back. He looked like a strict Dad telling his daughter what to do when he pointed down the stairs.

He was very, very tense last Sunday. Even during the concert, he didn’t interact with Kate. They didn’t look like a married couple at all. Not even the smallest, quickest PDA was seen.

I found William’s theatrics with Kate’s umbrella touching him to be overly dramatic and very tense. He could have just stepped out of the umbrella’s reach, he didn’t have to respond like that. You can see Kate turning in surprise and tensing up.

I don’t know. He seemed like he was in a bad mood and there was no humor in him towards Kate. He just seems to be scolding her all the time and pointing to her where she should go and what she should do.

I really wonder what it must be like to be married to William. He seems so cold and stern, like he demands everything to go his way.

Is it any wonder why Kate looks so relaxed and happy in Harry’s company? Harry puts people at ease. William probably seeks to intimidate.

    • Nancy Blue says:

The lack of communication/love between them has been reported and noticed on so many blogs. A particularly good one is Enclave24. Another very good blog with a different approach is StiringTroubleInternationally.com altho haven’t seen anything to date on the latter regarding Kate and Wills lack of interaction.

  18. GoodCapon says:

Oh I see she’s back to wearing neutral colors again.

They might as well rename Alexander McQueen fashion house as ‘Sarah Burton’. Her designs are too safe and dull for McQueen.

    • littlestar says:

I really like Sarah Burton’s designs – I believe she does an excellent job of re-imagining McQueen. I agree, they are on the safe side, no where near the spectacle of McQueen’s hayday haute couture days. But I think the positive to the “safeness” of her designs is that they are more accessible and wearable now. If you look at the actual collection itself, it is still quite risque, but more wearable, making more people apt to buy McQueen (which is great from a marketing point of view, who doesn’t want greater sales?).

    • bluhare says:

Excellent link GoodCapon. I would wear the hell out of some of those dresses. I love AMcQ!

      • LAK says:

Bluhare – i have the dress underneath the red coat. it is gossamer light even though there is so much material.

      • bluhare says:

You have that????? To die for. I’d go for one of his long sleek ones, although these days I’d have to get nuclear powered spanx and a lipo on my bum to wear one!

I also love his highland fling ones.

      • LAK says:

Highland Fling is pretty hard to find. Also his last collection. i was at the V& A today which has re-opened it’s fashion section. They have just one dress from the last collection.

Daphne Guinness is selling some of her collection through Christies on June 27th. You can see it online. I am pretty sure it will be wildly expensive as these auctions go. I will just view and appreciate.

Sarah Burton’s designs are every where ie second hand shops and sales. People clearly don’t like them.

    • LAK says:

Sarah Burton has watered down McQueen’s designs. She herself said she wanted them to be more accessible and feminine.

He always said his clothes were about challenge, armour and strength.

So you see corsetry, strong shoulders, very narrow, military lines and very strong design elements and very strong colours. He was also a genuis couturier who could work with any material. Plus he was a trained saville row tailor which comes through in all the designs. It is such a pity he is gone because he really was one of a kind.

She was his assistant and eventually hired to take charge of the ready to wear aspect of his designs which were always a watered down re-interpretation of his designs.

Kate is wearing the blandest, most simple aspects of the label, but the sign posts are evident in the tailoring, the hidden corset/bra, the shoulders. She looks polished, appropriate and her weak spots cleverly hidden.

      • Bad Irene says:

Story goes when McQueen worked on Saville Row he once made a suit for Prince Charles and stitched a not very regal word into the lining of the suit jacket. It was C U Next Tuesday. Cant recall when I read that but is always made me laugh.

      • bluhare says:

Irene: Seriously? That’s pretty funny, although I don’t think I’d find it funny if someone stitched that into something I ordered. Wonder if Charles paid him.

      • LAK says:

@Bad irene – that is true. He was working for tailor that supplied to Charles.

McQueen hated main stream people and popular culture and once had Victoria beckham escorted out of his stores – she retaliated by saying she would never wear his designs but of course many years later she was seen in them after she had re-invented herself as a fashionista with her own label.

He was a man of extremes as were his friends. i honestly do not think he would be pleased at Kate’s endorsement.

      • bluhare says:

LAK: Plus he wore the hell out of a kilt. Love a man in a kilt.

      • LAK says:

That McQueen tartan is to die for. Men in Kilts are just to die for.

Oddly, i saw a man in a mini kilt from Jean Paul Gaultier – it sounds so wrong but it looked really good.

    • France says:

At least, someone who thinks well : of course Mac Queen Couture died with him. What Kate wore since her wedding, included the wedding dress, is not elegant, not fashion, not creative, and badly cut. Look at the side of the skirt here…
But these clothes are they her choice ? or an obligation, part of the job ?
Just to say, there are not a lot of wealthy people who knows what to wear to be truly elegant… Carolyn Bessette was elegant, vraiment élégante !

      • LAK says:

Kate is not fashion nor does she know anything about fashion, based upon her clothing choices over the years. It’s pretty much sloane wear.

I think she stumbled on McQueen because her Step sister-in-law Sara Parker Bowles is a fashion journalist who favours McQueen. There was hardly any interaction between Kate and William’s family prior to the engagement which is probably when she started hanging with some of them, especially Camilla and her kids, then she was steered in that direction.

Irrespective of designs, the only time Kate has looked polished and properly fitted is when she is wearing McQueen. So from that perspective she should wear that label for all time.

    • ZenB!tch says:

Could there be two lines? McQueen and McQueen Royal? LOL.

  19. lucy2 says:

    Very pretty and appropriate.

  20. GoodCapon says:

Have you guys seen the balcony photos… there are only 6 royals there. Where are the others? They could have included all the Queen’s children. It’s such a shame.

    • LAK says:

i think that was deliberate to showcase the next generation of relevant working royals.

This is what Charles wants, and HM is giving him as a farewell [even if she lives to be 100] stardust, gift.

    • bluhare says:

I think Chuckles is asserting himself for once. His wife sitting next to the Queen in the carriage? Although that’s only because the DoE wasn’t there. She wasn’t allowed to show her face ten years ago. Just the people he wants on the civil list when it’s his turn on the balcony? Actually, I agree with him on downsizing the royals.

  21. littlestar says:

I think it’s a beautiful dress. As Kaiser said, it’s perfect for a church service. Did anyone else notice that today Kate was looking at William with love in her eyes? And nothing from him :S.

There! I said something nice about Duchess Dolittle today :).

    • Snowangel says:

Maybe Will is sad, because he is thinking of his mother. He is also attending the Jubilee of the person who may well have ordered his mum (Diana’s) murder. At the very least the Queen helped make Diana’s life a hell on earth. I am sure he will be in a better mood once this is over.

      • Tania says:

        LOL are you serious???

      • LAK says:

Is that you Mohammed Fayed? Didn’t we settle this with that expensive court case you dragged us through?

regards to the wife and kids.

And you are still not going to get our passport if you keep making these accusations.

        EIIR

      • Lou says:

Hilarious !!!! At least Prince Phillip is getting a break from taking the blame …

  22. MizzVJJ says:

Beautiful as usual. We can’t deny, she’s got the perfect body for rocking clothing! I love her style. Not over-the-top, and not giving in to the pressure of having a flashy new look every outing.

  23. Reece says:

Looks like a tea length pink covered up version of the long black one she wore before. War Horse premiere?
Very pretty. Very girly. I got nothing else. It’s good. I really like the hat. Poppy on her head. 😀

  24. Ravensdaughter says:

Very pretty. She is so lucky to be tall and slender-she can wear almost anything.

  25. Jenna says:

I like it! But about Will’s bald spot. Yikes…can’t something be done about that? He’s only 29!

  26. jm says:

Only because she is usually so super skinny and flat, doesn’t she look like there is a bump in the last pic – and the ribbon is riding up? I think its just a bad angle and either way I think its a great dress

  27. Cathy says:

I like the dress. It looks good on her and it’s perfect for the event.

  28. Seagulls says:

She pulls the color off nicely, and it’s a great length, too.

Now if she’d just please fix that eyeliner!

  29. Sachi says:

Very pretty outfit. The hat is prettier.

Her makeup is better here. But she just doesn’t look fresh or youthful. There was one photo of her standing close to Camilla and I thought Kate looked only 10 years younger than Camilla’s 64 years.

The dress is nice, but I wish she’d wear other style/cuts. It’s always this sheath dresses that emphasize just how thin she has become and makes her terrible posture all the more obvious.

And before anyone comes and says, “That’s just how her body is…she’s naturally skinny and athletic.” NO. She is not. She used to weigh a good 20-30 lbs heavier 3 years ago and she looked gorgeous back then. She looked healthier, happier, and livelier.

Now she looks frail, dried up, and ill. Look up her older photos. There was a glow about her that is gone these days. I won’t attribute it to eating disorders and stress over her new position or whatever, but her appearance has changed a lot since she dropped the weight.

  30. Reagan says:

If you have seen Kate’s photos before William she was a big , healthy athletic girl, Look at her photos when she is sitting with her old boy friend Willem Marx, Kate was always a healthy big girl, she was never skinny. She started on this road to skinny AFTER meeting Pr.William. She looks horriblly thin now. I wonder if she has some body or eating issues? Reporters who see her in person say privately how worringly thin she is, they won’t print it because they don’t want to upset William’s first year of marriage, but many will privately chat with you and tell things they can’t write in the papers. Kate is so thin that it is alarming. A friend went to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party and saw Kate in the flesh and said no way that skeletal body(in person) can possibly be healthy.

    • sandy beach says:

Reagan – the weight loss is fairly recent, around the time of the engagement I would say. I don’t think she was “big” before – she was slim and athletic. Your comment about the press not wanting to upset William is interesting—-if he needs the press to point out the obvious (i.e. she is risking her health)then he is thick as a brick. Especially when you look back to his mother’s problems with eating disorders, you’d think that the royals would have nipped this problem in the bud.

    • Mika says:

I was at Bucks this weekend for the garden party and saw Duchess Kate. She IS alarmingly thin in real life and it does not look natural. Her skin is rough and she looks AGED like someone stole her life force!

I don’t think this lace peach dress is appropriate for a church occasion – sorry. Far better choices out there to wear to church.

      • bluhare says:

You were at the garden party? Did you meet the Queen? I think I’d rather meet her than Kate, actually. Kate will be around a lot longer.

PS If someone stole her life force, I think his name is “William”.

      • Mich says:

        @ Bluhare

“If someone stole her life force, I think his name is “William””

        Hahahahahahahaha! Thx for that! 🙂

  31. melmel says:

I really like the dress but it seems like it is a reincarnation of a blue one and a red one that she has/ She tends to wear lots of lace. I also think her skin up close is so saggy. She looks really old upclose

    • Mika says:

Agreed. Too much lace for a woman so young. Lacey Katie – the wedding dress, the blue dress, the red dress, the black dress now this peach one! All the same lace dress in different colours and lengths!

Katie is a one trick fashion pony – watch her style – belts, buttons, lace and pleats!

And by jeebus please retire the nude heels!

  32. Kim says:

Love the dress but she needs a new makeup artist. Her blush: to dark, to much and the eyeliner is awful. It ages her. Fresher, lighter makeup would do wonders on her.

Has she had something done to her nose? It looks widdled down since the wedding?

  33. Anne says:

You kidding? This dress is so much better than that pink monstrosity she repeated.

  34. Dragon says:

    The saying goes:
A bold patch on the back of the head: The man is a good lover!
A receding hairline: The man is a big thinker!
A receding hairline and a bold patch at the back of the head: The man thinks he is a good lover! 😀

  35. Rianic says:

I love Kate. I admit it. And I love Botox. It looks like she may have dipped into it – that or has had her eyebrows done. They’ve looked more arched the past month or so. I’m VERY careful and get minimal units w my shots to prevent the Spock brows.

  36. sup says:

how on earth does she manage to look so boring in all her expensive outfits and weird hats… yawn… zzzz….

    • Mika says:

She does not want to upset the apple cart! Everyone in the royal circles know that Diana always upstaged Charles and Kate does not want to upset or upstage William. She has no personality and this shines through at every outing – that’s why she looks so BORING!

      • bluhare says:

That makes me think that on Sunday, Kate came out in her dress, William looked up from the paper and said, “You aren’t going out in THAT are you?”

      • sup says:

she has no personality because she won’t let it affect her plans-she comes off as calculating and aloof, but will play nicer than her sister, in that manner she may seem more intelligent than pippa who no longer plays the bubbly innocent girl, but in reality she is just more blessed than her sister, looks-wise. waity was the designated duchess from the beginning and the only reason why things haven’t worked out for pip is her looks. and now they’re trying to create a princess stephanie out of her, make pippa the wild girl of the family, to create more headlines or something.

    • ZenB!tch says:

They all look boring. I thought Diana looked boring too. Her hair! Her clothes! UGH!

I didn’t think Diana was remotely interesting (aka young seeming) until near the end, although her awful BF made me ill.

      • sup says:

yeah but diana was well groomed. and she had scandals surrounding her name. kate is too boring to be scandalous lol

  37. apsutter says:

She looks lovely. I love the hat and the sash and the lace! I’ve been watching as much of the Jubilee as I can. I wish that I lived in Great Britain so I could watch it properly on BBC. It would have been so fun to be there. Did any of you guys watch the concert? It was wonderful and the finale was amazing!

I am not going to say anything about doolittle because the celebration was not about her.the celebrations was for the one and only Queen Elizabeth.i actually had some tears in my eyes during c Charles speech, that was the first time I saw genuine love between them, plus when the crowds cheered hm and doe, it was so sad that he was not there with her.today was an end of an eaera, England will never have such an amazing monarch in future ever.i hope for the sake of hm that doe is fine, he was such a dele at river parent much better then sully 30 years old William.the only thing that I did not like was the balcony appearance, it was such a tight slap on Anne’s face, she works even more then Charles and still she was not included.she was the only one that I thought deserved to be there with her mother but this is monarchy we care more about who is born to whom rather then real work and their contribution.

  39. Anna says:

Does anyone else think she might be pregnant? She looked very happy today in contrast to the rest of the family, who all seemed a bit downcast about Prince Philip’s absence…just a hunch…

    • HK9 says:

Yup, I think she’s pregnant too (I know I’m probably completely wrong) but I wondered when she didn’t turn up at the races…..

  40. princesslizabeth says:

    She looks lovely.

  42. Mika says:

Sophie Winkleman is just one year older than Duchess Kate. Sophie is a lady who is married to the son of Prince Michael of Kent and boy is she the epitome of style with a youthful edge and the outfit is spot on! Also she looks younger than her age of 31! Katie needs to befriend her and quick for some style tips! Another fashion winner was Sophie Wessex – she always gets it right but no one pays any attention to her but she is immaculately dressed at all occasions.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2154825/Queens-Diamond-Jubilee-Camilla-leads-way-gold-royals-don-finest-Queens-Thanksgiving-service.html

I think Katie takes a lot of advice from Camilla and for some reason Camilla is steering her wrong! We all know Kate has no close girlfriends and seems to have shunned official help from stylists and dressers. Someone needs to steer poor Katie in the right direction sartorially because she misses the mark everytime.

    • bluhare says:

Sophie Winkelman does look nice. Don’t like the metallic shoes with her outfit, but the rest (and the hat!) looks great. She really looked wonderful at W&C’s wedding too. Sophie Wessex does dress well; she knows her style and she knows how to rock a hat, but I don’t know why I’m not a big fan.

Someone who really does need to get some fashion advice is Zara. I love her, and I think she can look amazing, but today was not one of those times.

      • LAK says:

i agree with your assessment of Zara. I do love her hats though. Although perhaps not today’s effort.

Just had a thought. Zara and her Mike also waited similar time frame as Waity and William before getting married…..No one was sitting at home for somebody else to propose, not getting on with their lives.

      • Sachi says:

I think Zara is gorgeous, but she often doesn’t wear clothes that are appropriate for her body type. She has the “Windsor chest”, which means it’s big and sits low on her torso. Most of the time her outfits emphasize the lack of proper support in that area, and it ruins her whole look.

Most of the time she seems like she just doesn’t care. She’ll wear whatever she wants even if it flatters her or not.

I would say, however, that Zara comes across as confident and comfortable in her own skin. It’s one of the reasons why I think she looks good 90% of the time even when her clothes can be deemed a disaster: she always looks happy, animated, and glowing that her smile alone can overshadow her (lack of) style.

      • SISI says:

        @LAK
C’mon …No one have any idea of what Kate did (or is doing) in the privacy of her home, at any time!! The accusation that she was “sitting at home for William to propose, not getting on with her live” is at best baseless, at worse … well, being very negative!!?
Fact is for reasons of their own, Zara & Mike and Kate & William waited for the same length of time (7-8 yrs) before getting married. But, different from Mike (& most men), William knew he was not just choosing a wife but ALSO a future Queen of the UK & the Commonwealth (and also add to it his traumatic childhood – re: his parents disastrous marriage, messy divorce & mother’s sudden & tragic death)… enough to make any one think twice (not to grasp that would have make Kate totally unsuitable)!!

  43. Fue McCormick says:

Damn! … In the first photo I thought her midriff was showing for a split second. Wouldn’t that have been hysterically funny?

  44. Daphane says:

EVERY OUTFIT SHE WEARS FEELS LIKE SOMETHING SHE HAS WORN BEFORE.

  45. mar says:

she is the most lovely girl out there right now. Nobody has her poise and charm, and elegant fashion sense!!!!!!!

  46. psu says:

She is empty, no amount of makeup and expensive clothes could cover that, reason why Will looks so distant from her, Harry is kind enough – otherwise she’d look totally stupid grinning all by herself in a constantly too tight or too short designer dress with 9 inch heels, does she really have to try so hard, the 2 princesses are much natural and down to earth/normal. She is no beauty nor model, try work on something inside, it’s getting annoying.

  47. JulieM says:

The dress is pleasant, but not stunning. She always looks nice; nothing more. How interesting that Harry pays more attention to Waity than her husband does. Well, Dolittle; this is what you signed up for. A distant husband who is not in love with you. We gotta find Harry a partner!!

  48. ZenB!tch says:

Let me know when you get the Chuckles post up. I have things to say. LOL

  49. benny says:

It’s obvious she has an eating disorder, compared to what she looked like pre-engagement. At the time, her fans explained it away as “pre-wedding nerves.” Yeah, right.

However, I do think she has a very stressful life, living with people who look down on her and don’t respect her. People made fun of her for looking down at her notes every three words when giving a speech, but I think she was TOLD to do that by people who think she’s a simpleton — “DO NOT say anything that we have not written down for you! DO NOT stray from the script! DO NOT let us catch you saying something we haven’t pre-approved!” Her eating (or lack of it) is probably the only thing she controls in her whole life.

And I think the royal family will deal with it exactly the same way they dealt with Diana’s disorder: ignore it.

  50. Andie B says:

Sophie Wessex usually looks very elegant. On the day of the pageant on the Thames she was wearing a dress with Paris written on it and little pictures of the Eiffel Tower. I would have to question whether that was appropriate for an event celebrating your Mother in Law’s 60 years on the throne. Beatrice and Eugenie need to find a happy medium between looking young and tarty, and dressing too old. At the Church service Beatrice was dressed like a 50 year old, and Eugenie’s purple dress made her look round shouldered with that cowl neck. I’m no fashionista, but those were my observations.

  51. bgirl says:

    Absolutely FLAWLESS.

  52. SmartGirlsAlwaysWinInTheEnd says:

Is it my eyes, or does anyone see that little piece of string hanging from Kate’s skirt in the last photo. XD

    Wow. She’s SO couture…

  53. Maria says:

She looks so much better in muted colours than in very bright ones. I think this Mcqueen dress compliments her natural colouring a lot better than the bright red one.

  54. Maria says:

I loved the dress but it made her look so thin- the Queen and Princess Anne and Sophie looked far better. I also felt that she interacted more with Harry.
When Diana was thin, everyone said she was a basket case etc. With Kate, no one says a word.

    • SISI says:

Kate is fully accepted by the royal family. She interacts well with everybody, esp. with Harry, Charles & Camilla. There are lots of pics showing her & William happily chatting to each other and to other people. However, at the balcony, due to Prince Philip’s absence, William had to stand closer to the Queen (& interact more with her) and kate with Harry – It would be bad manners for the Queen to travel alone in the carriage (hence Charles & Camilla joined her)or be left alone at the balcony …So really, William & Kate were being gracious (inclusive) with the Queen & Harry

  55. vava says:

Based on observations over the past year, whenever Waity wears a dress with a high neckline, she wears a padded bra. Just look on the internet and you will see a glaring disparity between her figure here and the ones with a plunging neckline. Message to Waity: pick a bra size and stick with it!
