Back in April, Star Magazine had an interesting story (with photo evidence) about Antonio Banderas fooling around on his wife, Melanie Griffith. Star claimed that Antonio and some busted-looking blonde were down in Cancun, partying and flirting and looking very much “together”. I was surprised by the lack of commenter surprise – it seems like many of you thought Antonio was capable of cheating, or has already been cheating on Melanie for a while. Anyway, here’s a new story from The Enquirer – while Melanie and Antonio were in Cannes last month, Antonio was flirting away with attractive women in front of his wife, and Melanie was so displeased, she threatened to leave him.
Melanie Griffith is threatening to give her Spanish heartthrob hubby Antonio Banderas the boot after seeing him getting overly cozy with two exotic beauties at the Cannes Film Festival! Antonio was caught on camera cuddling with gorgeous Goga Ashkenazi, a super-rich businesswoman and socialite from Kazakhstan at the Cinema Against AIDS party. But that wasn’t all! Antonio was also snapped getting down on the dance floor with Bollywood stunner Mallika Sherawat, who was decked out in a revealing see-through black dress.
“Melanie’s eyes almost popped out of her head when she saw that,” a source told The Enquirer. “She couldn’t believe Antonio would dance so close to another woman. Antonio knows he’s a heartthrob and he makes no secret of his love for beautiful women. Even though Melanie didn’t catch him cheating, the photos of Antonio with Mallika and Goga really freaked her out.”
Insiders say a furious Melanie lashed out at Antonio, 51, as soon as she saw the pictures, but the flirtatious actor just brushed off her concerns.
Making matters worse, rumors swirled that he’d invited stunning Mallika to Spain to tour the new facilities of an AIDS charity they both support.
“Melanie feels there is absolutely no reason for Antonio to be inviting anyone to Spain with him, except HER… she told him if she ever sees him cozying up to another girl, the marriage is over. Neither one of them really wants out of the marriage, so he agreed to her demands just to keep the peace.”

I was just looking through our photos, and I can’t even find any of Melanie in Cannes this year. Was she even there? Was Antonio flying solo in Cannes (and then in Monaco for the Grand Prix), and while he was there, he was flirting up a storm with available women? Yikes. Whatever is going on with them, I do have some concerns. Maybe they have some kind of arrangement – they’ll stick with their marriage through the bitter end, and both of them gets to do whatever they want for their extracurricular activities? Hm.

Exactly!! She might be seem desperate to keep him, but he seems desperate in his own right, to chase a long gone time when he WAS considered a heartthrob, and this type of desperation is even much more pathetic in my book!
Melanie really jacked up her face. When will women learn that a bit of weight and natural aging looks better than whatever they are doing to their faces? I know there isn’t much excuse for a spouse to cheat but what is there left when a couple probably doesn’t have much in common or aren’t intellectual enough to have stimulating conversation and one of them has a jacked up face to the point where it looks downright scary? Antonio looks like the kind of guy who would cheat anyway. No surprises there.

Not saying its right but cheating is just a way of life. I don’t believe that a couple can spend 20, 30 years together without someone cheating. Women get old, men get old the sex may not be fulfilling anymore or the people grow apart. Instead of going through a costly divorce they kist stay together. Melanie use to be so pretty. I wonder if women who’s looks decline after plastic surgery is one of the reasons why their men cheat.
There are plenty of people who stay together for their whole lives without any cheating. And you can’t blame the women for the men cheating! It’s no one elses fault but their own when they decide to cheat.

I think Hollywood couples are in a category of their own. The availability factor makes it difficult to not stray. I think your average married couple are more likely to just grow apart.

i agree. both genders have so many options in hollywood, inside and outside of the industry. in addition most of the celebs have huge insecurities which also leads to seek attention and approval from other people.
i think its also easier to cheat when you have a lot of money, not only because its attracts people but because you can pay off people and spent time away from your partner in a different house or fly in your affair.
they also get so many things stuck up their butt that they think they can do it and get away with it. if people in hollywood think they are above the law why wouldnt they think its alright to cheat on their partners.

Honestly people having affairs, mistresses, etc. has been a part of pretty much every society.

It’s not about monogamous or not. It’s about not being respected by your partner. If Melanie had condoned these affairs, this wouldn’t be an issue. It is sad to assume everyone will inevitably cheat. 1. Because its not true and 2. Because what does that say about our society?
Polygamy and cheating are two different things for me.You can be with as many as you like without dragging someone else with you by marrying them and eventually lying and hurting them.Monogamy and polygamy are two choices I fully support.But if I ever cheat I know I’m just a coward.
Cheating happens for so many reasons. I would hope that someone who has done it before could learn from their mistakes. I don’t think it’s true that you’re only as faithful as your options (man or woman) I get flirted with, etc. a lot and I love my husband so much that I don’t give the flirtations a second thought. Sure, it’s nice to know that you are still attractive but at the end of the day, I only want to be with my husband who I love more than life itself. It’s really sad if this story is true and Melanie is being so disrespected by her husband. I hope she stands up for herself. Ultimately, you are the one who decides how you are going to let people treat you.
Well I’m just going off what I see around me. Seriously, there are sooo many people who I know that cheat and think nothing of it because they love their sig other but just want to have a little fun. I kinda agree w/puleeze. Monogamy is a nice thought but does not always happen. I used to think i would leave a guy in a heartbeat if he cheated. But if you think about it, 30 years is a long time to go without a slipup. So if you love someone, are you going to leave them after 30 years and kids, b/c of one slipup? everyone is human and no one is perfect.
There’s only so much a person can put up with and reading the comments that he has stuck it out with her through substance abuse of any sort is enough for me to be like, if he has had enough, then fine with me. Anyone who’s ever seen Truth or Dare knows this is TOTALLY possible.
I was never a fan of A.B. but then worked with him for a few weeks some years ago and he was beyond charming. Like unbelievably sweet. He had an entourage of women working for him (publicist etc) that were quite plain-looking and grumpy but he was constantly in a good mood. Melanie would call very very often and seemed needy and he was always patient and saying lovely things to her ( at least the stuff we did hear). He did flirt up a storm the rest of the time, though, with lots of women, from waitresses to actresses, but it seemed very tongue in cheek. He was incredibly down to earth. I didn’t give two cents about him before but I did pity him for having such a needy partner after meeting him. It can’t be easy spending your life with an alcoholic who is chasing the youth rainbow at any cost.
I can’t believe he stuck with her for as long as he has. She’s an insecure, needy addict. But what she has done to her face has turned her into a true Grotesque. Especially combined with the desperate looking young sexy clothing she affects. Makes Demi look dignified.
Could be he’s figured out that taking care of a clingy wife is a good way to get a sympathy fuck.

He’s Spanish! What do people expect? Actors are always cozying up to money to find producers. When I visited an actor in NYC I’d dated for years, he was chasing Russians in nightclubs. I demurred and stayed behind. They’re hustlers. It means nothing.
Honestly, I always got the feeling they had some sort of “arrangement”, an open relationship. Which is not bad, if they both agree on it, why not?
Also, people commenting on why she just doesn’t leave, well it’s different when you have kids, no? I know my dad never divorced my mother, because of us, his kids.
They obviously have an arrangement which allows them freedom (ie him) to be with other people (ie him with other women).
So what is the big deal? If they want this arrangement, then it’s their life, their deal. Who cares?
I think he is Melanie’s caretaker more than romantic partner. I think he may see other women (or may have in the past) but he does love her and knows she can’t be alone. Then again, his flirting could have triggered her plastic surgery addiction – trying to look younger and prettier to compete and keep his attention. She looks so much better these days, and he did help her stop/undo some of the worst plastic stuff.
I think he evolved in to being her caretaker. I think it was passion and emotional intensity then it turned into compassion and empathy. They also have a daughter together, so he’s vested in a lot of ways.
Hollywood couples are no different than their regular counterparts imo. I just think that it comes down to the fact that alot of males don’t take into consideration to be honest enough with themselves when they’re with a woman and don’t want to let her go because they don’t feel they’ll do any better as far as finding that “forever” partner, so they give her what she wants, simulate a monagamous relationship but aren’t really putting in the effort of truly being together. I think if more males were TRULY honest with themselves and actually carried it out, there may be less of this treating their partners crappy the way they do…
Melanie’s mother looks better than she does. Mel’s been a mess for years, Doesn’t excuse cheating by AB but it is pretty hard to feel spousal passion for a needy dependent alcoholic addict.
Melanie and Antonio are proof that home-wreckers don’t grow old gracefully. Example: Elizabeth Taylor compared to Debbie Reynolds. Elizabeth grew old terribly with multiple health issues, but Debbie Reynolds is still alive and kicking . She was awesome in Will and Grace as Grace’s mother. Melanie and Antonio look like crap.
