Is this post just an excuse to look at pretty pictures of Matt Bomer? Yes. It is. And I don’t feel bad about it either. Matt Bomer is beautiful, and if he didn’t want us to look at him, he wouldn’t be playing a male stripper in Magic Mike. And he wouldn’t be talking about his body and how he had to bulk up and wax everything down. While none of that is my cup of tea – I don’t care for waxed, oiled beefcake – I did enjoy the visual of Matt Bomer, stripping down and someone applying the wax to his beautiful, muscular body.

Anyway, I’m including some promotional images from Magic Mike, including some from the Entertainment Weekly photo shoot. The camera loves this man. And in interviews, he comes across as a really sweet guy too:

Matt Bomer is “proud” to play a male stripper in the upcoming movie Magic Mike — but that doesn’t mean he was thrilled by the grooming requirements.

Asked how he felt about having to “manscape” — the shaving, waxing and general grooming of a male’s nether regions — for the film, Bomer said he took one for the team.

“We all had to go there,” Bomer told PEOPLE Tuesday at Park & Bond‘s special dinner at Perla in Manhattan to celebrate New York’s most stylish dads. “I’m not going to say it was fun, and personally I will never do it again, but for that project it was necessary. We were all in the boat together.”

He added, “What was important to me was to tell the story authentically, and I wanted to reflect what the dancers in real life do. And that’s part of their job.”

Bomer, decked out in a Paul Smith suit and an Ovadia & Sons tie, said he did research to get into the head of a male dancer.

“It was us against the world. But in a lot of ways, that was the mentality of a lot of exotic dancers I talked to,” Bomer said. “It’s a profession that’s not widely accepted by the general populace, so even though they raz each other and it is a sort of locker room environment, they help each other out and look out for each other, and I feel like that’s something we picked up on.”

His costars include Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey, and Bomer added, “Channing’s brilliant in this movie, and I know they’re not going to be the immediate audience, but guys will really like this movie. I’m calling it now!”

I feel like Bomer was really close to saying that he manscaped “for the sisters” but he didn’t think he could pull it off. I do think Bomer is the kind of lovely gay fellow who does special things for the “sisters” though – and he must know that all of us love to look at him? The sisters like pretty things. Now take off your pants, pretty boy.

Bomer also told Access Hollywood that “I think I put on maybe 10 or 15 pounds for the film, because it’s a lot of pressure to go out there for anybody and start dancing in front of a group of strangers.” Tim DeKay once said that Bomer was already solid muscle – DeKay referenced a scene where his character had to lift Bomer’s character, and he said he could barely do it because Matt is so heavy and well-built. So, add on an extra 15 pounds of muscle. WOOOHOOOO!!! And in case you get lost in the sexual fantasy, Bomer also told AH that he was spending Father’s Day with his partner and their three kids – “We’re just gonna hang with the family, barbecue. With three boys, it’s pretty kinetic around the house… We like to swim, have a barbecue, stay outside.” Aw… now THAT is sexy.
