The more I listen to the music (yes, I downloaded it from iTunes) and watch the video with my 5 year old son, the more I realize all the other influences that went into it!! Trillion, you are so right about the David Bowey/Bing Crosby connection. I hadn't seen it for years, and just hearing the instrumental intro, I burst into laughter. Thank you for sharing it. Others in my family who don't typically "get" Colber(t), have melted - the initial edginess of the piece eases up after multiple viewings and listenings. With each time, I realize how brilliant the writers, producers and casting directors were - clever lyrics in all the new tunes, perfect casting for the messages - and the harmony experienced in this version of "Peace, Love and Understanding" is the best I've heard.
