Emma Stone in D&G, Roksanda Ilincic in Madrid: adorable or awful?

Madrid agrees with Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. Maybe it was the light, maybe it was the food, maybe it was a decent night’s sleep or maybe it was just a really great, bouncy hotel bed and naughty hotel sex. Whatever it was, The Amazing Spider-Man photo call and premiere photos from Madrid are probably my favorite from the whole publicity tour. Andrew and Emma finally seem connected and flirty and adorable and OMG I want to watch them be cute together forever.

Of course, it wasn’t all good news. While Emma’s hair and makeup looked decent, she continued her run of looking better at the photo call than at the premiere. At the photo call she wore this beautiful sort-of color-blocked Roksanda Ilincic dress and Louboutins. It doesn’t really seem “summery” but I love the colors and I like it a lot on Emma. Yes, that turquoise part looks like a dust ruffle. I give you that one. But I have the feeling that it was a lot cuter in person.

For the premiere, Emma wore this milkmaid-esque, WTF-is-happening Dolce & Gabbana. I’m sorry for those of you who will defend this, but it’s TERRIBLE. It’s an awful design. It’s unflattering, it’s dated and it looks very much like someone’s tablecloth, complete with white (crotch) doilies. Why was it so difficult for Emma to find cute outfits to wear during this promotional tour?!? WHY?!

If it weren’t for those terrible puffy sleeves, that second dress would be awesome.

    • alexis says:

Maybe the dress is vintage and she didn’t want to have it altered.

    • deehunny says:

I was just thinking that. If there were no capped sleeves at all it would have been better.

  2. marie says:

pretty girl, but I’m not a fan of either dress..

  3. gee says:

The red dress looks better in profile, and the white one looks like the very pretty pillow on my mother’s couch.

    • CG says:

I thought that too about the red dress! Weird. And has she had some work done? Her face has been looking slightly different the past few days, and I can’t decide if it’s because she actually did something or if it’s just a combination of bad makeup/bad hair color/weight loss that’s throwing me off.

      • T.C. says:

Her face looks wonky. The lines around her mouth area are deeper making her look older, her eyes look huge, and the blonde hair makes all those look worse.

hairpins must be going for extra cheap in the shops these days.

  5. Eve says:

I went to see Prometheus yesterday (yep, I should have listened to you, Mia Girl) and actually enjoyed the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. I’m considering watching it now.

    • Bite me aka aniston says:

I’ve read that Prometheus didn’t live up to the hype … I have a great home entertainment system should it be a rental

      • Eve says:

I’m not sure if you’re asking me if it’s worth a rental…but here goes my opinion: it should be the last one on a list of ten movies you’re planning to rent.

It most certainly didn’t live up to its hype — I can honestly tell you that.

I didn’t hate it. After watching it, I wasn’t angry that I had left my house, took the bus and spent a little more to watch in 3D because I already knew it wasn’t going to be all that. I just wish some of the reviews I read weren’t so damn right about it.

The visuals are indeed beautiful — but I disagree with those who say the plot is confusing: it isn’t. It’s simply silly. And some of the characters’s attitudes/decisions weren’t merely stupid, they were inexplicable!!!

    • mia girl says:

Eve – you can always go see The Avengers again to restore your faith in the summer blockbuster… I think your 8th or 9th view of the flick is a necessity!

      • Eve says:

        But I can’t!!!!! 😥

I live in a shitty city — there are only two cinemas here (each with 7 screening rooms) so, even with The Avengers being a massive hit, other summer blockbusters must open too…which means it would eventually lose rooms for movies like MIB III, Snow White and the Huntsman, Madagascar III and Prometheus (remember that The Avengers opened on April 27th here).

Right now, the only available showing is in one theater — and dubbed (which I refuse to see).

I mean when I say I’m heartbroken because I can’t watch it anymore. The Avengers is the antidote for all bad movies I have watched/will watch in 2012. But I’ll have to wait for the DVD.

      • mia girl says:

So sad! I might got see it in your honor then

I’m not sharing your mild enthusiasm for the Amazing Spiderman. I like Garfield, but I am not sure this movie is going to deliver. How about you see it first and let me know? :).

In the meantime, whatever you do, under no circumstances whatsoever are you to see Rock of Ages. I got dragged by a group of friends (someone’s birthday). That script must have had the code name of Suck of Pages because that crap was crappier than crap on crap, wrapped in crap, served with a side of crap. Plus, I cannot ever unsee Cruise’s performance. Shudders….

      • Eve says:

Go watch The Avengers again…do not squander the opportunity I’d love to have!

About The Amazing Spider-Man: well, I sometimes fear recommending movies to people…but I’ll try to give an unbiased opinion so you can decide for yourself.

That script must have had the code name of Suck of Pages because that crap was crappier than crap on crap, wrapped in crap, served with a side of crap.

LOL! So…do you think it was bad? 😉

      • mia girl says:

Well, let me take a step back and say that I am not against crappy movies and often love them. And I fully realize that one gal’s “crapy crap” is another gal’s “entertaining crap”. So there may be others that find ROA entertaining crap. No offense meant to this who have that opinion. I do not share that feeling. I would have rather seen Prometheus again. 🙁

      • Eve says:

Oh, I got that. I was just trying to joke — I was originally going to post: “So…do you think it was crap?” (FAIL!, I know). I actually loved that sentence — totally going to steal it and use it in the future (will give you the credit, I swear).

Don’t worry, if I ever watch Rock of Ages (unlikely) it’ll be solely for Russell Brand.

    • Bite me aka aniston says:

Thanks Eve, might have to drag my arse out of the house to see it!

  6. Kloops says:

Can’t help it, but I almost always think she’s adorable. However, I hate the dresses and hope she goes back to red hair

  7. Jade says:

It seems like there milking it in those photos. I believe there in a relationship but they’re doing the most.

    • mia girl says:

Yes. It’s like their people told them that their body language was off on the previous red carpets, so now they are working the lovey stuff way too hard.

This may just be photo asumption but this interaction doesn’t look sincere to me. Emma looks like she’s forcing it. In yesterday’s post @Maguita thought that they looked done with the whole romance. I think she’s on to something. At least Emma looks like she’s “over” it.

  8. merski says:

That last photo…. Man, I love these two together!

  9. Eleonor says:

WTF? It seems made with a Grandma’s balnket.

  10. alissastoner says:

I LOVE Emma and I love her shoes in the first pic but the last dress is awful it looks like my grandmas tablecloth, not cute.

  11. Mikki says:

I want her shoes from that red/blue outfit – that’s about the only thing I like! But she does look adorably happy with him in these pics.

  12. Liv says:

I actually like the dress!! 😉

  13. Belle says:

Really like the 1st dress (I even kind of like the blue dust-ruffle-thing)… and OMG, LOVE those shoes!

Hate, hate, hate the second dress… YUCK!

  14. A Fan says:

I think she looks great – at least there’s some individuality, unpredictability, and uniqueness in these dresses. They are interesting…which makes her interesting. Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana are also individualistic in their clothing – and at the same time wear mostly figure flattering outfits. So even if they all slip every now and again, it’s far better than the Britney Spears of the world. Now that’s awful.

  15. normades says:

Love the milk maidy dress, HATE the other. Love reading this site, but ALWAYS disagree with their fashion taste.

  16. whateverusay says:

I miss her red hair. Off topic, I know.

  17. phoenix says:

Does anyone know how this is tracking? I feel like it might open less than expected.

  18. Vera says:

I like both to an extent. I agree that the red probably looks cuter in person – the one where she is walking made me believe it probably did (and seeing that the back had the same blue detailing). The floral one I though I really liked from the first picture, but then I got a good look at the sleeves. Not a fan of the sleeves. If the dress didn’t have them or they weren’t so poofy it would have worked better, and if the white in the center went all the way down the dress and didn’t have the awkward crotch thing going. Otherwise I’m a sucker for florals like this, and if it had been done better I would love it.
