Blake Lively’s first ad for Gucci perfume: beautiful or too nose-job-y?

I was surprised that more people weren’t interested in Blake Lively’s latest endorsement deal. Less than two weeks ago, the announcement came: Blake Lively got her second major endorsement gig. Her first was for Chanel (obviously!) – she represented (represents?) Chanel purses, and she was handpicked for the gig by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. Now Blake also represents a brand new perfume – Gucci Première. Blake got to call the shots too – she asked for (“demanded”) Nicolas Winding Refn (director of Drive) to film the commercial. Which I can’t wait to see, because it will be interesting to see if Blake is a better actress in a perfume commercial than she is in films and television. I’m starting to think of Blake like I used to think of Megan Fox – a glorified music video girl who just overshot her mark.

That was all just some tangent, though. The header is the brand-new ad for the perfume. Thoughts? It’s very…eh. I like the dress in the ad – too bad they’re not trying to sell me the dress. Is the image striking? Not really. It just seems blah and basic. It’s not Blake’s fault, I don’t think. She looks pretty, she’s giving good face and face-reflection, although I think the face-reflection (full-on) is prettier than her profile. The weirdness of angle means that your eye (my eye) comes to rest on her profile… namely, her nose. Namely, her nose JOB. Remember vintage Blake and her perfectly fine (although slightly larger) nose?

I’m sorry, but Blake’s nose is man-made, and I’m not crazy about some (obviously) sculpted nose job being the centerpiece of a multi-million dollar ad campaign. I know I’m nit-picking, but all I did was stare at her fake nose for three full minutes when I first saw the ad.

I’m also including some additional photos of Blake on Friday. I have those shoes in a different color.

  1. Sienna says:

Hmmm I don’t really like her profile now! It looks so.. angular? Unnatural?

  2. loma says:

    Her original nose was beautiful!!

    • RocketMerry says:

Yes it was! And it also made her face much prettier and interesting.
Now her face is just plain, flavourless and boring.

    • gigi says:

Exactly. Now what they gotta go do that to her? Her face was never meant to be classic. If that’s what they wanted they should’ve gone with another girl.

  3. ahoyhoy says:

Her nose looks like it was made in wood shop, and somebody got too lazy to sand the edges down.

That IS a bad nose job. Whew.

    • Rhea says:

LOL 😀 I think it looks better in person than in the ad. IMO, they add a photoshop to her nose so it seems more unnatural. A plastic surgery sometimes fix the face/body parts for better BUT on the other side your face would not have the character that set you apart from the other people anymore.

  4. mwa says:

Why does she have deep wrinkles?

    • Amelia says:

Too much sun and too little water.
Just the way she smiles too. I smile more with my cheeks (if that makes sense) and it seems she smiles with the whole lower third of her face.

    • Mary says:

I agree, prob too much sun. Maybe she smokes as well? I just found a couple wrinkles and am choosing to blame it on the ciggs. It is a good motivation to quite though.

  5. loma says:

Kaiser, where did you get those shoes?

  6. Jayna says:

It looks like Madonna’s ad for Truth or Dare perfume. She looks kind of budget in the face for the ad compared to a beauty like Charlize or Nicole in perfume ads.

  7. lower-case deb says:

is that a huge zit at the end of her nose, in the advertising? or just bad lighting and angle?

  8. Amelia says:

Crikey, what the hell has she had done to the tip? It’s not only unoriginal now, it’s freaky! I’d get a refund if I was her. Can you get refunds on surgery? Money back guarantee? :p
She looked much cuter with her original nose IMO. It gave her character. And that is the reason why I’ll never have a nose job.
I do like the colour of the blue dress though. Same colour as my bed sheets 🙂 nice and calming.

  9. Miffy says:

I don’t get this girl’s appeal. I’ve never actually seen her in anything so maybe it’s one of those things you have to see in motion to understand but her endorsements and photo campaigns just make me go ‘meh’. I find her average looking at best, not even in a quirky way.

Anyway, she needs to watch the plastic surgery. That nose is looking a like that baby version of Jodie Marsh’s.

    • Jayna says:

I like her. She fought for a role in The Town as a mid thirties coked-out local woman. She was early twenties. But she pulled it off. She was excellent. I think there’s more to her than people give her credit for.

      • ahoyhoy says:

Affleck’s movie? I don’t think she ‘fought’ for that role…try another verb.

      • Liv says:

I don’t know why some people thought she was good in The Town. I found her awful, I didn’t believe her for one minute.

      • Puffy Schmuffy says:

        @Jayna.
We are deffo in a minority but I like her too. Loved her in SSOTP and Elvis and Annabelle. (Crushing on Max Minghella me!!)
Her nose is still prominent Only I think this Gucci snap’s done some touch ups. To me she’s really beautiful in motion but photographs poorly

      • Vic says:

You do know her part was reduced like crazy once she landed the role. The original draft of the script is out there, you can read it.

I’m not buying the ‘she fought hard’. Since when do you remove almost half the actor’s screen time if they impress you? There was definitely something fishy going on there..

      • Kolby says:

I thought she was way outclassed by the actors she worked with in The Town (which is a good movie, btw). Her accent took me so far out of the movie, thank goodness Renner was there to bring me back.

  10. birdie says:

Well I think her new nose suits her better, I am all for nartural beauties, but to me she looks prettier now.

    • Alexa says:

I agree, I think it looked HUGE before.

    • lamamu says:

Aside from whether or not the new nose looks better or not, I think it’s hypocritical for people to selectively criticize actresses for their plastic surgery. It’s Blake Lively’s nose job… Angelina Jolie’s nose job… Jennifer Aniston’s nose job… All three had nose jobs. What’s the big deal? Their faces are their source of income. How can they be judged for it? Lively now has multi-million dollar ad campaigns with two of the biggest fashion houses in the world. (Same for Jolie and Aniston) Was the nose job such a bad idea?

  11. LoriF says:

That nose job is 1970s era bad.

  12. Tiegs says:

Wow, I’m pretty sure those sandals are Balenciaga, and they ain’t cheap.

    http://www.balenciaga.co.uk/en_GB/shop-products/accessories/women/shoes/classic?xtor=SEC-7-GOO&gclid=CLbEicn3-rACFcYmtAodNkYC-Q

I like Blake’s ad, and pretty much everybody has a nose job or two in Hollywood. Gucci/Blake as a brand doesn’t really work for me though.

    • bea says:

Right! $500 for summer sandals. If I paid that much for shoes they would basically be my BEST shoes, not something you wear with a sundress. Must.be.nice.

      • Tiegs says:

I know, right? I couldn’t justify spending that kind of money on a pair of casual sandals, I rarely buy expensive shoes anyway. I’m sure Kaiser just has a similar looking pair.

  13. Rosy says:

The awful thing about doing a nose-job is that unlike other body parts, the nose keeps growing as we grow older. That’s why it looks so weird now. The bone, I think, at the tip is not adjusting well making it seem like she has a pimple or something.

I think she looked better after the nose-job but it does look freaky sometimes.

  14. Rosy says:

Btw, her chin is the real issue here. She needs to get on that ASAP

  15. Samantha says:

Her original nose gave her face character and set her apart somewhat from all the young generic blonde actresses out there. She still looks good, but now the only thing that sets her apart is the lines around her mouth…

  16. Alexa says:

Salma’s husband owns Gucci and I think they became BFFs from the videos I’ve seen, Salma even said on GMA that Blake is “Mexican”, talks like a Mexican, eats tamales. I think it’s cute that for once two successful women got along instead of catfighting. So maybe Salma offered her this deal.

    • normades says:

Good point. She prolly got the contract like she does by brown nosing the higher ups.

  17. bea says:

Wow – the nose from two angles and they’re both bad. They should use photos of her full body and not get too close to that face. I do not understand her allure.

  18. Crystal says:

This ad is too similar to that Chanel ad she did a while ago. There’s too much writing too.

I like Gucci perfume and I’ll probably buy it. I wonder what it smells like.

I think her new nose looks better than her old nose but she needs to stop messing with it now. She’s entering into Ashley Greene territory and that’s not a good look.

She’s pretty average tbh. Not stunning but I know she has a lot of haters on this site who think she has a ‘butterface’ or that she’s ‘ugly’. I can’t stand her but considering most of you on here stan for that swamp looking homunculi of human cells, Benedict Cumberbatch, none of y’all should dare try and call her ugly.

    • Amelia says:

Insult BC again and I’ll set the Rage Monster and Crackhead Screeeeee on you.

      • Crystal says:

LOL. Please no. You Cumberbitches scare me, especially the ones on Tumblr. They need help. Seriously.

Sorry boo. I love all my fellow Celebitches but y’all need to come better than that Sid from The Ice Age looking motherf*cker. He looks like his species leaves their young to die alone in a forest or something.

I wouldn’t hit it with a stolen vagina tbh.

I still love you though…LOL. *kisses*

      • Amelia says:

We were genetically modified to scare 😛 Seriously, we’re the Jason Bourne of the blog world.
But if you think we’re scary, watch your back for the Hiddlestonians. If you even insult the city he’s in then you’re on the black list.
Haven’t ventured onto Tumblr in a while for that very reason :p

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I’m definitely not trying to insult any fellow C/B’ers but man, I too cannot for the life of me understand the Benedict Cumberbatch infatuation. I find him incredibly unattractive (to put it nicely). BUT maybe it’s something where I just need to see him on-screen? Maybe he just doesn’t photograph well?
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen him in anything so that probably doesn’t help. Does anybody have BC movie recommendations?

      • Crystal says:

        @TheOriginalKitten
LOL. Yeah girl, his face actually offends me. He’s so fug but I think the fascination with him has to do with his voice, his acting (dude has skills) and his personality (even though he’s said some questionable things in the past). If it wasn’t for those things most of his fans would run a mile if he was an average guy on the street.

Apparently he looks better in motion but I can’t cosign that because even though he’s a great actor, he’s as fug on screen as he is off screen.

My problem with the Cumberbatch love comes from the fact that there’s no woman on the earth who could look that bad and make it far in Hollywood. They wouldn’t even get the opportunity.

I also think that English actors are given leeway if they don’t look like ken dolls (R-Pattz, Cumberbatch, Hiddleston, Matt Smith, Andrew Garfield) because we have such low expectations of them anyway. A lot of english actors/actresses have mad skills because training and drama school is a must here, but they’re not much to look at.

      • Amelia says:

Kitten, watch Sherlock and Wreckers. He also did a bio pic about Stephen Hawking. Now, I will be honest, he did look like a total geeky meh in that.
I completely get what you’re saying about the double standards appearance wise, Crystal.
You could argue that Gabby Sidibie (sp?) although she is endangering her health by being so overweight, she has managed to carve out a career for herself because she has the skills to back it up. And the actress who played the stepmother in a Cinderella Story who jacked her face. So you do see some unconventional looking women becoming successful. Granted, you could probably count them on one hand and it severely limits role choice too.
Personally, I’m a fan because he has screen presence and isn’t afraid to own a scene and upstage everyone. And the Sherlock hair ^^ he also seems genuinely kind. And I’m oddly attracted to the tall, skinny body type.
Going back to the old cliche, beauty is in the eye of the beholder ^^

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Crystal-TOTALLY with you on the double-standard. Other examples Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and the like. The issue is that many women are attracted to men based on personality, talent, style, etc etc whereas most men are just looking for a hot piece. That fact alone makes for a pretty biased market in Hwood.

Amelia-I will def check out Sherlock & Wreckers-thanks for the recommendation!
It was mentioned that he has a nice voice and I’m a voice girl so who knows? Maybe I’ll become a Cumberbitch?

WORD! So much word! I really like Hiddleston, but his fans are starting to scare the hell out of me. He’s like the king of tumblr pages — and some are downright disturbing, like the one ENTIRELY dedicated to trash his EX-girlfriend (Susannah Fielding, if I’m not wrong). I mean, the woman is not even riding his dick anymore but they’re still trashing her (for no good reason, in my opinion).

I’m getting turned off by that — and by that creepy publicist of his. Hiddleston’s shadow doesn’t follow him as closely as that guy does.

        EDIT:

        http://antisustomstans.tumblr.com/

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

@Eve-I don’t even know who Hiddleston is but I checked out the link you posted and..YIKES 🙁
I could only read a few posts before I started to get scared. Seriously. I feel bad for people like that..
We all have our celeb crushes (Fassy FTW!) but to have a blog devoted to talking sh*t about a woman you don’t even know, to talk about a celeb like you ACTUALLY, GENUINELY know him or anything about his life is just really really creepy.
Makes me wonder if the author of that blog has any personal life whatsoever. Seems like someone with serious social retardation….

      • Eve says:

        Kitten,

Tom Hiddleston is the actor who plays Loki in “Thor” and “The Avengers”.

By the way, those posts are just some of many — I posted the link to that tumblr page because it’s completely devoted to trashing the woman (who, I repeat, is not even dating him anymore). But if you google her name and tumblr, you’ll find out that she’s regularly trashed by girls on many other tumblr pages. They call her “poor man’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead”, that she’s ugly (she is not, believe me) and that she’s a famewhore. Basically, no one is good enough for him — except, of course, themselves.

On that blog, I was baffled by the girl who called her classless and vulgar because she “let him put his hand between her thighs in public” (he was NOT doing that). I was also amazed by her statement that if he knew there were blogs/posts like that about his (then) girlfriend but did nothing to stop it, then “he really didn’t care for her” (quotation marks because those are her words, not mine).

Amelia is absolutely right: as crazy as Cumberbitches are, they’re still tame when compared to Hiddleston’s fans.

    • Puffy Schmuffy says:

      LOL LOL
Well damn Crystal! May I borrow that line? I think Blake is gorg BTW.

      • Crystal says:

Of course you can borrow it, my love. Any hater of BC’s face is a friend of mine.

I think Blake is pretty basic but her body is the stuff dreams are made of. Lord.

      • Wizza says:

        @Puffy Schmuffy
IKR Crystal is great isn’t she.
Aside from the typical flow of haterade/slurs in ALL Blake posts from the usual suspects. Crystal, A, Cammille, I Want Shoes, bring their A game with their wit/insight!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  19. Blue says:

I like her dress and shoes in the last shot.

  20. Jaime says:

Meh, it’s not bad. At least her mouth isn’t hanging open and her chin tilted upwards.

  21. ewww says:

I`m sorry but it`s just awful. She looks old and they went overboard with the photoshop. Also this girl is not classy, rather cheap and trashy so she is just not right for high end campaigns. She does make an effort to be sophisticated and classy but she isn`t.

  22. LittleDeadGirl says:

She’s gorgeous in the ad but I honestly feel nothing for the whole thing. I don’t want to go buy it. She’s just so booorrrring to me. I don’t get why they paid her for the ad when they could have gotten any generic hot blond.

  23. sara says:

    I don’t believe is nose-job or photoshop.
    if you see this site
    http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/first-poster-for-nicolas-winding-refns-venice-bound-short-film-for-gucci-starring-blake-lively-20120702

has a picture of her with the same nose, talking to director of comercial.
I think it’s just make up, they do this all the time, they have skills to do this kind of thing.

    • Jen says:

Look at more photos, then. Definitely a nose job! She had her gums or teeth fixed at the same time; now she doesn’t have that same gummy smile, which I used to find kind of endearing.

  24. Marissa says:

I really don’t like the campaign ad. I know they were going for old school Hollywood, but it doesn’t deliver. An ad, especially if it’s a top designer like Gucci, should be eye-catching and provocative. I’m not saying that she has to be decked out in trashy clothes and underwear, but she’s not a model. Blake doesn’t know how to sell the product. Not to mention that the shot also made the nose job more obvious. The blue dress, however, is gorgeous.

  25. Blen says:

    boring, basic, blond

  26. Mara says:

She is a very pretty girl with a very nice body .

  27. Sour worms says:

Oh, please with all these ‘her nose was fine, she didn’t need surgery’ comments. Her nose was big as hell. The nose job helped her go from an ugly duckling to an average looking woman. And, if she still had her old nose, she would be getting ripped apart and named called endlessly through this comment section. This hypocritical attitude is evident in every Kim K or Nicole Kidman post. People will fly into their threads talking about botox overload and then turn right around and criticize some woman for her fine lines and wrinkles.

  28. Mouse says:

Whoa, I’d never seen her original nose. Looked better before the plastic. Too late to go back and the new nose hasn’t made her any more interesting or appealing.

  29. Alice says:

She’s had at least 2 nose jobs (maybe even 3), her whole mouth fixed, teeth, gum, whitening, veneers, and a boob job.
I’m waiting for her to get her two lines around her mouth botoxed because I assume that’s next.

  30. Kim says:

Ugly ad, ugly girl. She just is not a pretty girl.

  31. Mrs.Krabapple says:

It looks like they were going for a Lauren Bacall look, but Lively just can’t pull it off. Instead of trying to ape other (better) actresses, she should find her own niche.

  32. Wizza says:

    Strikingly lovely. Like the concept
I still say she looked best in Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants though

  33. natalina says:

No one is natural anymore, her new nose is awful–her natural nose was much nicer….

  34. Chris: now with 10% less negativity says:

She reminds me of Grace Kelly in that B/W shot.

  35. benny says:

She looks NOTHING like Grace Kelly.

She looks a little like Lauren Hutton. Or as someone further up said, Lauren Bacall.

But Grace Kelly? No. In fact, I would say HELL NO.

    • Chris: now with 10% less negativity says:

I said she reminded me of Grace Kelly. I saw the photo and I thought of Grace Kelly. So sue me. 🙂

  36. Jovia says:

Wish I could say that I had those sandals but with bunions, I wouldn’t be able to wear them. Well, I could, but wouldn’t.;)

Blake looks pretty in the blue dress with accessories but have to agree that all I could look at was her nose in the ad. Not a good angle, imo. I liked her pre-surgery face in these pics but she’s in a business that reduces women to their external physical appearance and maybe she did what she’s done to simply up her chances in her chosen career field.

Never having seen her in person before and after, it’s hard to say if she looks better for it.

  37. LucyOriginal says:

Say what? her nose is fake? noooo… *shocking news*

  38. Hm says:

Her nose job is fine. It’s still a strong nose, not scraped down to a nub. The ad is altered to give her nose a more shaped tip. Her nose is very straight and blunt in reality. I agree that whatever she has had done has refined her looks and helped her career. Beats working 9-5. Why not?

    • Camille (The original) says:

I agree. The nose job(s?) have given her a more refined/sophisticated look and I think it suits her face. At least she doesn’t look like Miss Piggy or anything. *shrugs*

  39. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

A pretty face and bottle for the perfume but what are the actual ingredients?

  40. sashavice says:

Eh, she looks like a million volleyball players I went to school with. Nothing special, and definitely not Gucci.

  41. me says:

Is it only me but in her side profile she looks like cate blanchete
