Addictive personalities just change what they are addicted to. She's addicted to shopping, she was addicted to sex, she was addicted to cocaine and who knows what else? I hope it's worth it to her since her career has tanked since all this happened. She constantly makes poor choices but she's definitely an adult and needs to learn from her mistakes. I know NA/AA can work for a lot of people, but I think the "all or nothing" mentality is a little dangerous for the population as a whole. It can foster an unhealthy mindset and lead to a cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe being a friend of Bill W might be the best call for her in the long run, or maybe she should learn some self-restraint.
