Katie Holmes: “If something’s not okay, then I make it known, I will deal with things”

As we previewed last week, Elle Magazine hit the jackpot by giving Katie Holmes their August cover, and doing an interview just about six weeks before she filed for divorce. We had some of the early interview excerpts last week, and now Elle has released an additional image from their cover shoot, plus even more quotes. Here’s some additional coverage:

Get ready for Katie Holmes 2.0. In mid-May, the Kennedys actress, 33, sat down with ELLE magazine for a revealing cover story interview for its August issue, which hits stands July 17. And, in new excerpts from the prescient sit-down — exclusive to Us Weekly — Holmes drops even more illuminating hints about her impending split from Tom Cruise and her planned reinvention.

(About a month and a half after the Holmes and Yang designer chatted with ELLE, she filed for divorce from Cruise, 50, after nearly six years of marriage; the former couple settled their divorce on Monday, with Holmes getting primary custody of their daughter Suri, 6.)

The former Dawson’s Creek star admits to ELLE that, as a younger woman, she struggled with her sexual confidence: “I always felt like a little girl before . . . I didn’t even know what sexy was.”

The secret to feeling sexy? “Anytime you feel good about yourself, you embody sexiness,” the soon-to-be-single Holmes advises. “It’s almost like a power or a confidence or a secret.”

Just as tantalizingly, Holmes alludes to her ability to cope and address problems — no matter how intimidating — with adversaries.

“If something’s not okay, then I make it known,” says the star. “I will deal with things . . . the way my mom taught us girls how to be. She stressed listen, learn, always be strong and be true to yourself.”

In previously released quotes from the interview, Holmes snapped when asked about the stigma of being “Mrs. Tom Cruise.”

“He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years,” she said of the Rock of Ages star. “I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”

Indeed, a source told Us on Monday shortly after news of Cruise and Holmes’ settlement: “She is . . . very happy. She can move on and finally live her life.”

[From Us Weekly]

The way she talks about her sexuality… it’s making me wonder. Could it be… no. NO, of course not. Of course Katie Holmes didn’t quietly set up some jumpoff on the sidelines. Of course she wasn’t screwing around. Because if she was, wouldn’t we have heard about it? Unless the dirt she had on Tom Cruise was just that damaging – so damaging that Team Cruise couldn’t even fight back. Plus, what if Katie had fooled around on Tom? Wouldn’t most of us give her an “Atta girl”? True, cheating is wrong. But isn’t there a “Xenu Exception” in the cheating rules?

Anyway, Bedhead went through some of the rumored details of Tom and Katie’s divorce settlement yesterday. By most accounts, Katie got primary custody of Suri and Tom is allowed visitation, although there are many rumors about “limitations” being put on Cruise’s access to Suri. Something about no Xenu, no Xenu-tastic handlers, etc. Us Weekly had an exclusive yesterday with a “source close to Holmes” who said, “She won and is happy. Very happy. She can move on and finally live her life. [She] did this only for her daughter. That was all she cared about. [She] pulled it off brilliantly. She has her career back and her daughter. She will be a huge star now. . . This was all played so well. Katie is very happy with how it all came out.” Haha. Brag much? But seriously, Katie should be proud of herself. She pulled off a ballsy coup de grâce on her marriage and she came out of it A) With everything she wanted and B) With her public image better than before.

Meanwhile, people are starting to wonder/worry about Tom Cruise. What’s next for him? Jennifer Love Hewitt? Probably not. LaineyGossip alluded to some intense auditing, which will probably involve David Miscavige in leather chaps with an e-meter clenched between his cheeks (don’t you love that image?). But don’t worry about Tom too much – as Rolling Stone hilariously/eerily points out, within the Church of Scientology, Tom Cruise is a God. Or a demi-god. Okay, he has GOD-like powers. You should just read this story – Tommy is an Operating Thetan who has traveled the Bridge to Total Freedom and has achieved a “rarefied sense of enlightenment.” Scientologists believe Tom can move sh-t with his mind and telepathically communicate with humans and animals. FOR REAL.

I’m majorly on Team Katie and have been cheering her on this whole time! I’m so happy for her and Suri…but “she’s going to be a huge star” is kind of laughable. Just be a famous super-mom like Jennifer Garner.

    • Rin says:

I was on team Nicole, but I’ve never been in team Katie. She always seemed like a C lister that was using him to a leg up in the business.

They get married and suddenly she’s another “celeb” with a fashion line, and we’re subjected to her doing things like singing on television…

Plus, the fact that those two crazy people BOTH treated Suri like an adult letting her stay out on all hours wear clothing in the wintertime that was inappropriate…

Don’t like her. I think she made her deal with the devil and now I’m starting to have some sympathy for him. She could have waited until after he turned 50. That was harsh.

      • Britt says:

Um, no, harsh is condoning and/or ordering people be tortured or used as slave labour whilst earning $75 million dollars a year all in the name of ‘religion’…What a crock of shit.

He is a cluster fuck, she was naive and completely overwhelmed.

We should absolutely celebrate her for being as strong as she has been in order to protect Suri from what is obviously a dangerous cult with equally dangerous members.

      • I.want.shoes says:

I will always be Team Anyone-but-Tom. But I’m not all that impressed with Katie. She lost major points when she claimed Isabella and Connor called her “mom”- I thought that was rather insensitive for the woman who is their mother but lost them to the Co$.

      • Tiffin says:

Rin, I’m glad you have sympathy for Nicole because I think she deserves it.

But have you thought that maybe Katies fashion line and singing on TV was only what Tom ALLOWED her to do? For all we know he may have been picking the (awful) movie roles she’s had. If he’s the control freak we think he is, then treating her like that makes sense.

As for Suri, yes we’ve all criticised Katie, but again, what else was she supposed to do? If she caused trouble and went against Tom I have no doubt she’d have ended up being audited for weeks and heaven knows what brainwashing of Suri might have been done in that time. After all, they did brainwash Connor and Bella against Nicole.

As you say, Nicole was treated abominably by Tom so even all these years later, he gets absolutely no sympathy from me. What’s the saying? ‘What goes around, comes around?’

      • jc126 says:

I don’t like her, but I don’t like him at all either. I think Katie wanted to be more famous and more rich; Cruise’s nuttiness was well known when they married. And now, is she exposing the C0$? No, she’s taking a payout. Kid to protect or not, she’s not heroic or brave. I AM glad she dumped him, of course.

      • Molly says:

If she hadn’t married so young, she might have had a better chance of having become a bigger star.

      • Lithe says:

@Rin, sounds like you’re on the side of whoever gets dumped. First Nicole, now Tom.

      • gg says:

@jc126 – “And now, is she exposing the C0$? No, she’s taking a payout.”

A “payout” for not singlehandedly bringing down the Cult?? Hog Wash!

This is a DIVORCE settlement, sweetheart, not a federal case. There is money involved with raising a child and money is always involved in a settlement.

Katie Holmes is not and never was going to singlehandedly bring down a cult that has been going for many decades. Wake up.

    • neelyo says:

Supermom is a new category of celebrity now isn’t it? She’s no more offensive or untalented than many other so-called stars but I think that her offscreen reputation is too big for any role that she’s likely to land.

I can kind of see her giving up the acting and becoming a Jackie O type figure. There will always be public fascination with her. She’ll quietly work on her fashion line and live a fabulous private life and maybe even land a foreign gazillionaire who can provide protection for Suri and then leave the US.

      • Mia 4S says:

“Supermom” is the career of choice for the low talent stars desperate to stay famous (Alba, Duff, Simpson) and those who age out of the starlet roles without truly establishing themselves (Garner, she was trying to produce a parenting talk show). Holmes fits this group. She deserves huge praise for getting her daughter out of the cult but that didn’t suddenly make her fate Blanchett! LOL at Cruise’s “superpowers”, he deserves no sympathy. Although its ironic that he could probably seriously benefit from some psychiatric care!

      • ZenB!tch says:

Do you guys think The Simpson will allow another Supermom so close in age to her? Katie may have been a mom first but The Simpson seems to be shooting for the Younger GenX/Older GenY position.

I hear very little from Alba (ugh) or Duff. Jennifer Garner has the Mrs. Ben Affleck thing going for her (press wise) and The Simpson has the product conglomorate.

Maybe Katie can do something in between. The ex-Mrs so and so with a part time career?

    • bettyrose says:

Pre-Tom, Katie wasn’t someone I ever thought about. Mid-Tom/CO$, I just felt bad for her and hoped she’d get out. Post-Tom/CO$, I’m very impressed with her. I realize she probably has a family/support system who’s keeping her strong in all of this, but even so, I admire how she handled the situation. I don’t think her future is in acting, though. I’d love to see her become a fashion/super mom type celebrity who supports women’s causes, though.

BTW, what happened to the long, nasty drawn out divorce proceedings that dragged CO$ through the dirt? I had no idea a custody case could be resolved so quickly.

      • mewmow says:

@jc126, I have a feeling the “payout” you speak of, was her baby girl! What Mother wouldn’t take that payout???? I sure would! 🙂

      • jc126 says:

mewmow – can’t reply to you directly – I agree a baby is a great “prize” and worth anything, but I would absolutely never have gotten involved with someone like TC. I’d rather have a baby by a sperm donor than by him. And Katie had Chris Klein, and I’m sure she could’ve gotten another, non-lunatic guy.

      • Bluebear says:

Chris Klein is a huge ass who is just as controlling as Tom Cruise he just doesn’t have the power of that cult behind him! Just read a few quotes from the wonderful Mr. Klein:

“I don’t need food to impress, man, it’s a flash of a smile and a nice conversation. And at the end of the day, she’s cooking the food.”

Chris Klein: “I’m not tolerant of (women gaining weight) at all. When a woman isn’t feeling good about herself and you combine that with her period, eventually she’ll ask you if you like her body, you have to say no.”

Interviewer: “They’re just looking for you to say, ‘You look beautiful to me, honey.'”

Chris Klein: “If they do, it’s placating. II don’t placate.”

      • ZenB!tch says:

        @bluebear (can’t reply directly)

Chris Klein is probably eating his words right now. Who is Chris Klein? I bet the younger women on this site keep having to Google him when the name comes up and I do not mean that in the “too young condescending” way. Why would an 18 year old woman born in 1994 know who Chris Klein is?

Other than American Pie what did he do? What has he done. To me he is the likely bio-dad of Suri Cruise. That is it. If it wasn’t for that I would have forgotten all about him.

The sad thing is that I remember when Katie broke up with Chris Klein. I don’t know what she was plugging but it was all over the fashion mags. She was talking about how she was so excited about her new life, how she was going to move to NYC, live the single life for a while, perhaps try working in the theater. I could see all the little Greenwich cafes dancing in her head.

Then suddenly she was back in LA, and knocked up by Tom Cruise (yeah right).

I guess she is going to try that again but with a little buddy this time. It may be more fun this way. Girls time in NYC. I can totally see Suri in those little cafes.

    • Tiffin says:

      cmc,

I wanted to say that a comment you made about Katie early on in this whole drama has stuck with me:

‘She just gave our imaginations a shovel and let us dig his grave ourselves.’

It’s so brilliant! You should copyright it!!

      • cmc says:

Thanks, Tiffin! Occasionally, I’ll have a moment of brilliance. Kinda wish it happened with something besides snarking on a celebrity’s divorce though…haha.

      • mewmow says:

@jc126, you and me both. So easy to see thru the creep. Lol I going to assume she was young and caught up in the whirlwind that is life, otherwise I see no other way! Myself? I would of run the otherway. 😉

      • Stephers says:

cmc, that shovel comment was sheer brilliance! I remarked on it recently. You certainly summed up this whole shake down in one simple sentence.
I will remember that quote for a very long time 🙂

      • Amy says:

You’ve got my vote for “best comment of the TK divorce” too, for what it’s worth, cmc.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

The only credits I can remember within the last year(ish)(without referring to IMDB) are her brief dance cameo on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ (which was pre-filmed) and that horrid portrayal of Jacqueline Kennedy in that redic mini-series. I do hope she gets more roles now, if for no other reason, just to piss off TC and his followers…oh and the woman empowerment thing 😉

      • Jayna says:

She was in a thriller. Bad reviews. She was Adam Sandler’s wife in his comedy. She doesn’t get offered any great parts. Nicole during her marriage to Tom had really good parts and the last two movies she did while married to Tom that cam out soon after the split were her as lead in both movies and she was phenomenal. Both movies did good at the box office – Moulin Rouge and The Other, that Tom produced for her. Katie doesn’t have the talent Nicole foes.

      • lulu says:

She was in ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ and honestly, it wasn’t Katie’s fault the movie was mediocre. She’s no Meryl Streep, but then neither is Nicole.

The best thing to come out of all of this is to show that co$ CAN be made to roll over, if you hit them just right. It will be interesting to see if anyone else defects on the heels of this latest blow to thei ‘Star Flock’.

      • ZenB!tch says:

Katie also never has to live down “Eyes Wide Shut”.

I have no clue about Katie’s talent or lack there of. I’ve only seen her in the Batman movie and she was fine as window dressing. As I said in another thread, Nicole played the same part a few years before in the first Schumacher Batman.

I do have an idea of TC’s controlling personality and I think he stopped whatever efforts Katie made at a career. I don’t think he wanted Nicole part deux.

    • CC says:

Yea, I’m Team Katie the mother, but for a career, she has to prove herself. Sometimes it’s all about small victories, and not every star is destined to mega-stardom.

      • Raven says:

She’ll probably have a career like Brooke Shields, who has done some television, parts in films and Broadway. She keeps working but is not considered top of the line.

    • Marie says:

It really is kind of laughable to think of this as a big ‘get’. We have been told over and over the divorce was in the works for months. This really was a calculated interview, most likely initiated by the Holmes camp, to coincide with the public announcement of the divorce. Who could really believe this was coincidental??

      • annieanne says:

Exactly. Katie didn’t pull off this divorce overnight. She’s known for months what her end game was and the magazine was part of it.
She needs to get her career restarted and she knew her PR would never be better than right after she announced the divorce filing.
Perfect time for a cover story.

      • ZenB!tch says:

She knew when the article was coming out. She knew when she was going to file. She knew this had to be done or at least in the works by August/September when Suri starts first grade.

I’m not dissing her, just saying she has been planning for a while and she knew what she wanted to say in July 2012.

Why is she a cover anyway? She has nothing coming out, does she? She called them not the other way around. She had something to say and maybe she even hinted that she would be a much bigger selling issue than one would have thought 2 months ago.

  2. G says:

If Tom had anything on her, he would have levereged it. He had nothing, NADA.

    • beyonce's bump says:

      Exactly.

    • RocketMerry says:

Yep, I agree. Katie is probably clean as clean can be. I think she needed to be, in order to plan her escape undisturbed.

I think in the interview she could have been referring to how she felt while still married to Tommy: un-sexy, unappealing, unworthy… Just imagine trying to please and, ahem, excite Tommy. Shivers, right? Unless she was wearing a strap-on all the time, Tommy probably did not even look at her. Which makes me wonder, how the heck did they conceive Suri? Was she unconscious and artificially inseminated? Eh. Wouldn’t put it past the co$.

  3. Brittany says:

Well maybe he needs to work on his “powers” because he obviously couldn’t communicate with Katie (telepathically or vocally).

  4. Amy says:

Nothing to see here, folks. We’re just sweeping the floor.

Unless something untoward goes down one one of those “liberal visitations,” I’m expecting silence from the newly-established Holmes household (unless you live on the other side of the wall from it during the time a certain six-year-old learns the meaning of the phrase “consistent routine”).

And frankly, that’s exactly as it should be.

    • Micki says:

Too good to be true.I don’t think it’s only Tom’s failure that Suri is the way she is.Katie’s been snapped several times alone with her at late-night performances so…”consistent routine” might be something new to her too.
And Cruise capitulated worringly easily and way too soon.I suspect that she won the battle but not the war.
This man can hold grudges and outwait her.

      • wilkiecollins says:

But can he out wait the public too because we will be watching. If KH dies of a stroke at 90 I’ll still believe the cos is to blame.

      • Micki says:

        @willkiekollins:

Yes I think he can outwait us too because how many of us still follow…say Mel Gibson and his baby mama? They also reached sort of settlement, she stopped all of a sudden talking…do we know what ACTUALLY happened and what’s happening (probably)?
This divorce is going to be dropped as soon as the next one emerges.

      • Amy says:

Micki – I will confess to having an optimistic streak! 🙂

On a more serious note, based on my own experience with divorce and kids, it was a lot easier to establish consistent household rules when I wasn’t being undermined on a constant basis. And my ex wasn’t even a Scientologist!

    • Micki says:

      @Amy

      I hear what you say!
My firstborn is 5 and his brother 11 months old.My husband had different ideas from mine about parenting.Luckily I had a job in a kindergarten as a student and it opened my eyes like nothing else.No talks with other mums, books ets. can prepare you for the harsh reality. So, yes, you’re right, it’s not funny to be overruled. But with Tom being the working one and Katie being more often at home than not I am not sure what to expect in the future.Hope for the best for Suri’s sake but have to confess-I have a pessimistic streak.

  5. brin says:

Well he didn’t see this coming.

  6. Melissa says:

Yawn, this story is beginning to get boring. I don’t think Katie is going to be too interesting on her own.

    • Nev says:

      word.

    • Cam S says:

      @ Melissa
Glad you sad it. Wasn’t interested in her before Tom-she was a COMPLETE BORE while with him- and doubt she’ll be all that interesting now.
But good luck to her! She definitely has balls when backed into a corner (but what Mother doesn’t?)

    • Jen says:

      Never was, never will be.

    • gg says:

I think she’s going to try and make sure she’s not too interesting as far as her personal life goes. She’s probably had enough “interest” to last a lifetime.

I do realize she probably wants a career and for that attention is important, but putting myself in her shoes, I’d be letting out a sigh of relief the pressure is somewhat off, attentionwise, about her connection to the the co$.

  7. Green_Eyes says:

That photo of Tom is just creepy.

    • sarahtonin says:

That’s him talking telepathically to your inner aliens.

      • Green_Eyes says:

Lmao…must be a sad & one sided conversation. No inner aliens here. Now depending on what weighs heavy on my heart at times i may have to wrestle a few inner demons as the saying goes. But nope no inner aliens;)!

      • Happymom says:

        Maybe that’s why I can’t lose these last 10 lbs?? I don’t need more treadmill- I need an e-meter!

    • sapphire says:

Tommy blew it with Steven Spielberg though-I gogogled this and found out TC was trying to recruit the director and had the bad judgement to attack Kate Capshaw.

      • Boyjack says:

I read today that Kate Capshaw is still on the Scientology list but am sure that’s wishful bragging..no way those 2 would countenance being linked to Scientology. Too smart!

    • Aubra says:

      I’d still hit it!

      • gg says:

You’d hit a mind controlled freakazoid? I’ll pray to Xenu for you.

        Remember, desperation is unattractive …

  8. Bad Irene says:

Okay so now little Tom Dolittle here can talk with the animals. Thats not odd at all, nope.

  9. Rin says:

Nicole Kidman I felt got a raw deal, divorced a week before she would have gotten half. Katie got a fashion line out of it, will now get indie movies –and she’s a terrible actress–a lot of money, etc.

All they did for years was talk about how “amazing” marriage was and how the other person was “amazing”. It was enough syrup to choke on it. They should have been forced to stay with each other for what they put the public through.

    • Dena says:

Katie Holmes (and probably with the help of her dad) had the example of Nicole Kidman going into the marriage as a template for what NOT to allow to happen. Nicole Kidman was in a weaker position than was Katie Holmes.

As a woman, I am happy for KH and her daughter given what seemed to be her situation but cunning, sly fox, super-woman, super-celeb she is not. She has/had a team of handlers at her back with whom the accolades and kudos should also be shared. In truth, they all stand on NK’s shoulders IMO.

      • Tiffin says:

At the same time though she played the most important part of compliant, obedient wife right up to the end. She blindsided Tom just like he did to Nicole and I gloat when I think about it. Part of me thinks that Nicole does too.

        Payback is a bitch!!

    • Esmom says:

“All they did for years was talk about how “amazing” marriage was and how the other person was “amazing”…They should have been forced to stay with each other for what they put the public through.”

They were pretty insufferable…but in reality we should have all realized it was all just a performance for the public. Showmances in Hollywood are not new. In fact it should be another category of performance altogether — film, TV, and fairy tale relationship — that the public is happy to consume.

      • Bess says:

Another classic quote from Nicole about her marriage to Tom, “We’ll be on our honeymoon for the rest of our lives.”

      • the original bellaluna says:

Bess, let us not forget that Nic was only 23 (and a virtual H-Wood unknown) at the time.

    • Tara says:

Where have you been? Katie was never on my radar, but even I loved her in Pieces of April. She never had problems getting Indy roles, and I don’t think she’ll have trouble now. Frankly I hope that’s the way she goes. Her mainstream roles have definitely seemed forgettable. Her career preCruise was much better than the one he allowed her to have later.

      • gg says:

Yes, she needs some good indie flicks to keep her busy. Nicole did a bunch of really interesting movies I’d never heard of until I researched all her movies.

      • the original bellaluna says:

I liked Thank You for Smoking. 🙂 Of course, I also liked Australia.

        Go figure.

    • Jayna says:

Nicole got far more than Katie. She got a huge portion of his fortune.

    • cruiz2 says:

Haha! Exactly, ad nauseam! We all got screwed in the end.

  10. sarahtonin says:

Tom’s next wife will be a nice, compliant Co$ girl he meets while auditing and practising his superpowers at the celeb centre. And by superpowers, I mean the only thing he can move with his mind – his money from his bank account to theirs.

Btw, when you become an OT they give you a bracelet. So when you jump off the bridge do you get a cape?

    • Dena says:

      Perhaps Juliette Lewis?

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

Maybe Elizabeth Moss? I know Julliete and while she is a weird scio, she is way to wild for Tom. No controlling there.
My husband was in a long time band with her old bass player.

Not going to be her. Look at the naked pics with Pervy uncle Terry!

      • sarahtonin says:

Elisabeth Moss is a really good guess. She’s young and ambitious and completely indoctrinated. If you start see her glamming up and going really Hollywood, you know it’s on.

    • Lady D says:

I nominate Elizabeth Canalis for his next wife.

      • Veruca says:

Lohan. She can get addicted to his crazy and drop the coke & adderal.

He can parade her around as a Scientology success story.

        Win-win.

I just hope he lets her drive when they go out.

      • gab says:

Veruca – I love your suggestion! Two birds, one stone! 🙂

    • Relli says:

Laura Prepon? Who i did not know was also part of the CO$ until Radar informed me yesterday.

But i was reading comments on another site and someone was talking about numerology and some importance about “89” within the CO$. They guessed that his next wife would be born from that year which puts my first runner up Julianne Hough out of the race being born in 1988.

  11. Green_Eyes says:

Lol… Agree he needs to work on those OT powers. So wife #4 should come from w/i the Cult or he may have to give his decoder ring back!

    • sarahtonin says:

If he buys from the store direct this time he should get a warranty, or at least free servicing for a year.

      • Tara says:

        Hee Hee. +1

      • gab says:

Tommy may already have chosen the next “wife.”
He and his scio buddies are in a think tank trying to come up with a synonym for the word “amazing” because none of them have formal educations past the 9th grade. But as soon as their magical thinking reveals a new adjective I’m sure we’ll all get the good news! 🙂

    • sarahtonin says:

Gab: study tech teaches you to look up any words in the dictionary you don’t understand then use them in sentences. Perhaps that’s why they keep using amazing, they’ve just learnt it and they’re practising hard?

  12. Aussie girl says:

Yes there is a xenu exception. But no I dont think Katie cheated. Bravo to Katie she did pull this off & based on how super quick it went down, she must have had some serious dirt. She has emerged from this a bigger star & all though I’m sure that wasn’t her 1st priority it does help. As for tommy boy I predict the next Mrs Tom CO$ to be from within the cult. Not an actress someone they can have full control over

  13. sarahtonin says:

Speaking of that link to Janet Reitman’s article, has anyone read her book, ‘Inside Scientology?’ Worth buying?

    • Lizzie K says:

I bought it when it came out, but couldn’t make it through even halfway. All that stuff about L. Ron and Dianetics may be fascinating to the Sci-bots, but OMG it was tedious to me.

I really was looking forward to reading it before it came out, but it was seriously a boring disappointment.

      • Squiggles says:

I borrowed it from the library. The beginning is a little dense, but once the back story is told, it is pretty good and informative.

As a fast reader, it took me a week to get through it. Normally a book like that I can get done in about 3 days. Just to put the denseness of the start into perspective. I did have to go back and re-read some parts to clarify some of her points.

But, if you get the chance, do read it. It is very informative.

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

Great book, if you know a bit about it or have a vested interest in it. I will say that from MY experience, every word is true.

    • sarahtonin says:

Thanks for the tips. The background stuff, although painful, is prob good ammo to counter trolling, so worth pushing through.

Info is power. It’s because these people didn’t have knowledge that they were sucked into the pseudo-science in the first place. Lurkers should’ve paid more attention in high school, perhaps? 😉

  14. mln76 says:

Eh her films were much better before Tom but she wasn’t the best part of any of them….It’s possible she’ll get some critical acclaim now that she can have a personality again but huge star HA!!!
Oh and if she did cheat Tom probably wouldn’t want that out there because it would only do more to question is heterosexuality and virility….If she cheated she did so with the full permission of Tom because he was busy with his men.

  15. Gwen says:

I doubt she’ll be a huge star – at least not in acting.

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

Not only that, but every hweird sci will NOT work with her now. She is an SP, even if Tom does have contact through her for Suri.

Cos is very powerful in Hollywood. Beck, ribisi, remini, alley, travolta, Lewis, etc.

Cult leader knew that controlling Hollywood is controlling media.

No, no jump off. She had a handler 24/7. I’d be getting some hot piece now, though.

      • Happymom says:

According to Lainey Gossip-you can add Will & Jada and JLo to that list . . .

      • TheOriginalTiffany says:

There are a ton, actors, directors, producers. Good luck on the mainstream job front.

My bet is that she moves somewhere far away for a while to protect Suri and just lay low.

My grandfather still has tails after ten years and my most recent escapee has constant tails on her. They both moved across the country, him down south and she might be bumping elbows with Katie if you get my drift.

LRH said and it is quoted in the RS article that Hollywood was the key to cos. they also mention, which I have before, his obsession with satanism and aleister

        Hahahahaha!

Every cos person in town will NOT work with her and I think it is her best interest to lay low.

List of hweird scios? Here is a wiki list.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Sorry for the bizarre double post. My iPad hates me in the early AM.

      • Emily says:

Co$ is not powerful in Hollywood. Whenever a celebrity leaves the Co$, their career improves.

      • gg says:

I think they are not as powerful as they want everybody to think.

      • Veruca says:

They’re powerful enough to get away with this shit for all these years.

The kidnapping, extortion, and abuse allegations are not new, and are quite extensive. Why hasn’t CPS, the police, or the FBI done something? I’ve heard something about an inquiry now, but what about the last 25+ years of nightmare stories?

      • gg says:

@Veruca – I dunno. Smack my head when I think of how all this lawlessness can go on. Answer is probably that they are famous for having “insiders” in the justice system, police departments, and IRS for ages protecting them, and squads of lawyers paid to stymie court actions, paper their persecutors to distraction, and the side of good runs out of money, patience, and/or the Plaintiff either disappears or is “persuaded” by goons to drop the lawsuits. I’ve been tracking the craziness of the co$ since the 1970s when they opened a Dianetics center in Atlanta, and they’ve gotten spread so much farther and wider than I ever imagined and it makes me physically ill when people are preyed on like this.

That hasn’t all been perpetrated by Hollywood though. They are evil in many states in the US. Look at Clearwater, Florida and the Freewinds, and Gold Base. They have other concerns not associated with the entertainment industry, i.e., busy running all those “help” groups they love to form. True, they love hooking in entertainers but they are not in the majority there.

What I meant was they don’t run the film/entertainment business. There are plenty of normal people doing their own thing and the co$ just LOVES it when people say they run Hollywood. They don’t.

    • sarahtonin says:

I don’t think she cares that much. I think her priorities have changed. The blackballing threat is what they hold over entertainers, but if you are not afraid, they have nothing. I don’t think there are that many left in HWeird anyway and she certainly won’t have trouble in the NY theatre scene, where I think she’s probably planning to head to.

Edit: Just for perspective, in 2008 there were only 25,000 scientologists in USA. (In 2001 there were 48,000, so it might only be about 10K now). I think you’d have your own carpark and wing at the celeb centre because no one is still in it.

  16. Dana M says:

I doubt she had an affair. Knowing what she did about COS and the consequences….if she’s smart, I doubt she did. Glad she is out and can live a ‘free’ life now.

  17. Eleonor says:

I don’t know if she will become a HUGE star, If I remember well her acting skills arent’ that much. But I imagine she can do well.

  18. Esmom says:

I cannot for the life of me imagine Katie having a jump off — when or where would she be able to pull it off? Up until recently she’s been monitored 24/7.

Now that she’s free, however, it will be interesting to see who she eventually pairs up with. For now I’m sure that romance isn’t her top priority.

  19. Thea says:

Well if Tom a operating thetan that can move shit then I say FAIL. He needs more auditing because he didnt stop this divorce or move anything or do anything spectacular……I see serious auditing aka major money paid to COS. And a new beard by christmas….

  20. MeMyself says:

Does anyone really think Cruise will marry again? Imagine the interview. “THIS time, I’m really in love. I know I said so, three times before and especially with Katie, but I it’s just so amazing. She’s magnificent, this number four.”
I know that some people do get married more than once, hell, I’m on husband two, but FOUR times? It starts to be a joke.
Not that Cruise isn’t one already.

    • Aussie girl says:

I really do think he will get married again & yes have more kids. This time it will be a quite wedding with a quite CO$ girl.

    • Lizzie K says:

It’s horrible to imagine the life of No. 4. The level of Sci-goons Katie had to put up with will have NOTHING on No. 4! And at the first faintest hint that she might have a thought that wasn’t implanted by her Sci-minders, she will be disappeared like Miscavage’s wife. There won’t be a divorce no. 4.

    • Esmom says:

It seems unfathomable but who knows. Look at Elizabeth Taylor. She became kind of a joke in that regard, as he already is.

    • Tara says:

Would be funny if he just called her “number four.”

  21. Julie says:

i dont think she was cheating. not because i think she wouldnt do it butmore because how much time all this divorce mess needed in preparation. moreover im sure she was watched by scientology people the entire time.

also would it be technically cheating if all of the rumours about tom cruise and the holmes/cruise marriage are true?

she certainly is no saint and knew what she got into when she married TC. but hey maybe it helps with Co$. the divorce and all the speculation alread did some damage, so thanks for that, katie.

  22. bej says:

I read a funny story on VV of Tom practicing his auditing skills on a young $cientologist by making him concentrate and talk to bottles and ashtrays, telling them to move. Then when they didn’t move, he was told to pick them up, move them & thank them. Woooo! Great telekentetic skills they have there.
    http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2009/11/tom_cruise_was.php
    Too funny

  23. Chris: now with 10% less negativity says:

Tom’s three marriages ended when his wives were 33. Hmm 33. 3 and 3 gives us 6 by 3 wives that leads us to 666.

    Xenu! : )

    I’m joking of course.

  24. Katie says:

I am team Katie all the way. I’m so glad she’s out and that this didn’t get crazy contentious. However, her into source is jumping the gun a bit. Katie doesn’t have the makings of a huge star.

  25. Lucy2 says:

I don’t think she’s shown the talent needed to be a huge A list star, but I think her career will do okay for a while- because of all this attention she will probably be offered a lot of roles, and then it will depend how she does with them.
Lol, he is so enlightened and full of superpowers that he didn’t notice his wife plotting for some time to leave him and take her daughter! If he ever wakes up and realizes what a sham this whole thing has been, his whole world will collape.

  26. DanaG says:

It’s funny how Tom is supposed to be telepathic but didn’t pick up anything about Katie’s plan to leave. Maybe she had a scrambler? Does Tom even have a dog I just wondered I’ve never seen them with any pets. I think if he keeps to character he will start dating again soon but if he want’s to keep divorcing them at 33 she will need to be pretty young if he wants a few years marriage out of her. He is 50 if she is around 25 it is going to be even more icky. Hopefully he has learnt he needs a CofS girl cause his converting them doesn’t work. Katie I can see waiting awhile she will want to concentrate on Suri and working. In time she will meet her own Keith Urban!

  27. Bite me aka aniston says:

She doesn’t have the charm nor the talent to be a true movie star, she should just stick to being Suri mama

  28. Hope says:

Omg, my OJ came out of my nose at “Xenu exception.” Thanks for making my morning, Kaiser 🙂

  29. Elizabeth says:

I am dying to see what Tommy boy will do for his next photo-op girlfriend! Three times divorced at 50 isn’t so good. Who will CO$ find who will view this as a step up? How low will they have to go? Will they start scouting at high schools for his next “amazing” mate?! 🙂

Bitchy but I had to say it!

  30. Spaniard says:

“Scientologists believe Tom can move sh-t with his mind and telepathically communicate with humans and animals. FOR REAL”

I’ve read long ago that scienciologists said that Travolta had the power of heal with his hands, maybe that’s what happened with that masseur’s boys, he only want to “cure” them and we all just misunderstood his real intentions.

Seriously, this people are mental cases, they should be forbidden like in Germany.

    • TheOriginalTiffany says:

They all do. It’s called an “assist”. My step grandmother tried it on me saying she could cure my massive asthma attack.

She basically stroked my back and said I was healed. Freaked out, I ran to my room for my inhaler, which actually worked!

So much for healing, and teleporting, just like the rest of the sh*t that comes out of the cult.

Have fun licking those floors, you home wrecking biotch

      • Lady D says:

You’re breaking my heart OTiff. Props to you for your strength, and prayers that you get your family back happy and healthy.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

LadyD, that’s the tough part. Even though two have escaped, and I do mean escape, as in reprogramming, kidnapping, forced punishment, etc. they will never be my family again.

They aren’t normal anymore. I can hardly explain it. They’ve had to fly to the ends of the country, no one calls, they are just GONE. Their real selves, their real personalities, nowhere to be found. Brainwashed to the end, even after breaking free.

It IS sad. More for them, I still have a large loving family, they have no one but their new spouses, I guess. Shame because he is my last living grandparent and he hash’t called for a birthday or Christmas or anything, not even when I was a kid and he was in the cult. It has never changed, it’s like we don’t exist.

  31. Hautie says:

Oh, how I love that picture of Cruise.

    It just creeps me out.

And I can hear that maniac laughter of his, every time I see that picture!

  32. Turtle Dove says:

Another slap for Tom? Katie returning to Chris Klein.

Who do you think KATIE should date now that she’s exerted her freedom?

  33. sonia says:

I Henry the 8th I am….Henry the 8th I am I am….thank you Patrick Swayze for teaching me that song 🙂 now I sing it in my head every time I read about tiny Tommy searching for yet another wife to stroke his ego and tell him how amazing he is.

  34. serena says:

I like very much the first picture of Katie!

  35. Tiffin says:

‘Holmes drops even more illuminating hints about her impending split from Tom Cruise and her planned reinvention.’

    I think that should read:

‘Holmes drops even more illuminating hints about her PLANNED split from Tom Cruise and her impending reinvention.’

  36. Black Pearl says:

I’m sure Nicole has an opinion about all these.. too bad we’re not gonna hear Ȋ̝̊̅†. #teamsuri

  37. mewmow says:

My God, that last pict of Tom. Holy crap. I have always thought him creepy, but I think that is the first time I have seen actual evil from him. Seriously freaky sh-t eyes. 🙁

  38. RHONYC says:

    ahhh sookie-sookie, nah!

Katie was already in stealth La Femme Nikita mode whilst doing this article,
crossing her T’s & dotting her I’s. lol

i gotta feelin’ in 6 months time Jessica Biel’s gonna be in tears wondering:

    a. how on earth did Katie resurrect her career from the dead?

    b. how on earth is Katie now getting ‘way’ better film offers than her?

    tee-hee 😉

  39. TG says:

I really wish they wouldn’t say she is going to be a huge star because like others on here I don’t believe it. I wish she would just concentrate on acting if that is really what she wants to do like her movie “Pieces of April” which I thought was good. Agree with most on here her fashion line sucks. No matter what I will always be impressed with how she handled her escape. I just love how mr. 75 million got his a$$ handed to him. So much for telepathy, he certainly didn’t see this coming.

  40. SalmaNella says:

Be interesting to see how Tom deals with this situation because right now his public image is pretty tarnished. That has really got to chaff his hide. hahaha

  41. Jovia says:

Thanks Kaiser, for another posting of my all time favorite Cruise Control photo!;) I wonder if behind closed doors and underneath the Operating Thetan facade, Tom secretly feels like a fraud? (Because he can’t *really* talk to the animals and levitate things. Well- he can talk *at* the animals, ashtrays and doorknobs but you know…*cough* LOL)

  42. Lisa says:

She’s so wimpy to me. It’s no wonder Tom easily manipulated her.

    • mewmow says:

@Lisa, she obviously wasn’t a manipulated as you think. Thinking she a pretty good job of showing she was more in control than anyone, especially Tom, knew. Are you reading the same thing?Did you post on the wrong story? 😉

      • Lisa says:

I’m going to admit I didn’t even read the story. lol. I should have tagged that as a general comment. I still think she’s a bit of a weakling. Technically, the best manipulators are weak themselves, hence their need to control everyone around them.

  43. Katyusha says:

    She really is beautiful.

    • gg says:

I agree! She looks dropdead gorgeous in these photos. Yes, they ‘shop them and that may even be a wig, but I do think she’s lovely in the right sexy clothes. We never, EVER see her in anything sexy and it’s a breath of fresh air to see her in these mag photos.

  44. Stephers says:

Everyone has their opinions on her talents as an actress. Who knows where her career will go after this.

I do believe that the best acting she has done in her entire life has been in the last 10 days and perhaps the 2 to 6 months prior to that 🙂

  45. lori says:

Someone here on another post, said Katie should start Suri learning early, about the hard sciences, especially space and how the planets were formed, evoution, geology, etc so that when she does hear about Scientology and Xenu she will understand what a fable it is, with no supporting evidence. She will be able to think of all the evidence she has seen for herself about the universe and nature. I also hope she does this and includes Suri having lots of strong social ties, friends, family and teachers who are of different backgrounds, non Scientologists. That way, when Tom and the cult start the brain washing attempts, Suri will see them for what they are, and have a strong background of knowledge and support to resist him. Conner and Isabella didn’t have this and were so ignorant and naive. They were home schooled and kept ignorant and compliant. Suri would benefit from as much socializing and school as possible, and several trips to museums of science and natural history.
Suri would also benefit from therapy. Even if it had to be that Katie befriended a psychologist and just had very casual lunch dates with the three of them. That way, when Tom starts ranting about the evils of psychiatry, Suri can point out the many friends they have who are lovely, rational people who have been a benefit in their lives. Let the light shine on the darkness of ignorance. The antidote to the willful ignorance of cults is education and socialization.

  46. Emily says:

Rolling Stone hilariously/eerily points out, within the Church of Scientology, Tom Cruise is a God.

If Rolling Stone says that, they’re wrong.

Amy Scobee (a former $ci executive) said that David Miscavige seemed to be treating Cruise as some kind of god and all other Scientologists resented it. This got reported recently (by Radar iirc) as her saying Cruise was a god to Scientologists. Nope. Quite the opposite.

Miscavige can probably find some poor Sea Org girl to foist Tom off on, but I wonder if Tom would accept that. His ego demands an actress, and something else in him demands he marry Catholics.

    • sarahtonin says:

Yes Emily, I agree. That big award ceremony saying he was the hardest working scientologist pissed a lot of people off, especially sea org who dedicate their lives to the cause. We all know how hard they are worked.

Many really resent him and DM uses him and abuses him. He’s not all he’s cracked up to be. I don’t want to give him sympathy though. He’s a fkwit who is too stupid to realise he’s just a cashcow.

Imagine all the good he could’ve done had he donated that money to a real cause?

  47. Maritza says:

I’m happy for her and Suri, now just for curiosity I wonder who would be a good match for her? Jake Gyllenhaal perhaps…

  48. G says:

Here’s hoping his next contract beard is a oral surgeon because his gumline needs work! Ewww…

  49. XOxoXO says:

If anyone wants a chuckle, go to YouTube and search ‘Family Guy Tom and Katie’ or ‘Stewie Cruise’

  50. BC says:

People should not be applauded for having children. Where I come from ( and common sense dictates) the question of how a couple will raise a child is addressed before the wedding/making of the commitment. It’s difficult for me to understand how such a significant subject comes up only in separation proceedings.

  51. Lila says:

Katie bugs me. Don’t get me wrong- I’m a long way from Team Cruise- but I just can’t quite edge my way onto Team Katie either which is weird because I’ve been hardcore Team Nicole for years. I just don’t really think this new badass persona is who Katie really is. I think it’s who her family is and she became unhappy and now is following their lead like she always followed Tom’s. This article reads more like posturing than a secret inner strength coming out.

The idea of Katie becoming a huge star is laughable. I have no doubt she wants to follow the Kidman model of hit films, critical acclaim and an Oscar in two years but in the best acting she’s ever done she wasn’t even the best part of the film. She’s just not that special as an actress. IMO all she’ll ever be is Tom Cruise’s ex. And I don’t feel sorry for her for that because I think in that regard she got what she signed up for. She wanted to be crazy famous and rich, the wife of her movie star idol. Unlike Nicole who got both, Katie chose that over a career. She got what she signed up for.

  52. erika says:

Why doesn’t tommy date a CO$ girl…? You know, a nice CO$ girl he can bring home to meet Grandma : )
Seriously though, I’m not seeing a Hollywood actress for Tom, I know we all rip on JLove but let’s give her a lil credit. Tom is wack/ CO$, controlling, etc., 3 divorces, I think at this point, actresses have had enough. But, again, why not a CO$ girl? It’d be a eHarmony, perfect match! None of these CO$ problems would sneak through, children could be raised CO$. But I don’t think he has the guts or the humility to date ‘below’ him. We’ll see.

Katie? “Girl…you a woman now!” Can’t say I’m a fan of her as an actress but after this? I’m just a FAN! Girl played it smart, cunning n’ sly. She CONTROLLED the most controlling control freak of all time! She dared to play with the Big Boy’s Network and she smashed them! I hope to see her as an inspiration to women out there in abusive/controlling/f**ked up relationships ‘plan a strategy, keep a poker face, cool, calm, confident and DO IT! Seriously! I hope she gives normal women out there that inspiration!

Katie can bring home the bacon!

Fry it up in a pan…

And never ever let Tommy forget he got canned

    Cuz she’s CO$ free, Enjoli!

(*God I just showed my age!!! Anyone remember these commercials? Anyone?)

  53. Kim says:

True to yourself my behind! She married a man she didnt know/Tom, for money and fame and stayed in a cult for him. She is not very intelligent.

  54. skuddles says:

Shortstuff may have a “rarefied sense of enlightenment” (oh give me an effin break!) but he can’t hold onto a woman if his life depended on it.

Boy do these CO$ crazies have Cruise’s number or what! They play right into his massive little man ego – you’re SO gifted, SO special, you’re practically a GOD Tom!! Which, of course, keeps Cruise exactly where they want him.

    • sarahtonin says:

I think they tell everyone the same thing. Funny how everyone has a ‘win’ the first time they start sessions yet they are told it is really unusual and they are special? Of course Tom is ‘enlightened,’ but not enlightened enough to see he was sucked in like every other lemming.

      It’s just lovebombing.

  55. Fue McCormick says:

I wonder how OT VII is workin’ out for Tom?

  56. phoenix says:

Tha quote is very corny. And very dawson’s creek. I like that she seems like a dork.

    • RHONYC says:

uh, yuh-huh…me thinks dats de point!

the new ‘KatieKampaign’ is: make everyone remember why they knew my name in the 1st place, b4 the embarrassing cough-jumping fiasco.

i never saw it, but Dawson’s Creek put her on the map & rumor had it that ol’ ball & chain Cruise put the kebosh on a poss ‘Dawson’s Creek Reunion Movie’ that Jimmy Kimmel has been tryin’ to cook up for a while.

Katie was down, but Mr. Telepathy poo-pooed the idea & said “just give me a min, while i move these plates with my mind”.

well, you know the rest…the plates are still waiting…

looks like her former fans might be in for a treat! holla. 😉

  57. phoenix says:

    “I deal with things”.

  58. ZenB!tch says:

I don’t think she had an affair – only because she knows that could cost her Suri.

I do think she may have met someone, that made her feel different or she implying she is ready and has been celibate too long (since Chris Klein).
