Chris Hemsworth is in talks to play the lead in Spielberg’s ‘Robopocalypse’

These are photos of Chris Hemsworth, his wife Elsa and their baby India Rose in Santa Monica on both Friday and Saturday – note the costume changes. There isn’t a lot going on with Chris, Elsa and the baby, so I’m just covering these photos because you ladies seem to love Chris’s beefcake vibes, his giant arms and his general “doting father” thing. I am enjoying these paparazzi-friendly outings with the Hemsworth-Pataky family, although I will admit (again) that it seems like Elsa and Chris are definitely playing the Affleck-Garner game of PR mechanics: lots of baby pics, lots of family outings, lots of beautiful photos to appeal to the “mom fanbase”. What’s weird is that Chris really doesn’t need the added boost to his image – women already love him and support his films. Which makes me suspect that Elsa is trying to get more work in Hollywood.

In other Chris news, did you know that he’s ALSO one of the many “rumored” actors up for 50 Shades of Grey? I don’t think his career needs that – check out his IMDB page to see what kind of work Chris is getting these days. He doesn’t need to do a fruity “Twihards buy some handcuffs and cry about it” movie. Although… that rumor probably isn’t the worst thing. I hated the idea of Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender for Christian Grey – like, those rumors made me physically ill – but the thought of Chris’s massive arms and killer body doing a lot of sex scenes? No, he shouldn’t do the movie. But I give you permission to “cast” Chris in your S&M sex fantasies, because that is HOT.

Also – Steven Spielberg wants Chris! That alone should tell you that Chris won’t end up in 50 Shades. According to Deadline, Spielberg wants Chris to play the lead in his next big film, Robopocalypse. The film is based on the book (by the same name) by Daniel H. Wilson about “the human race’s attempt to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising.” So… Terminator, right? Like, the Terminator backstory. That would be a good choice for Chris.

Robo-whatever-calypso. YEAH RIGHT. OKAY, shut up and take my money !

  2. Rachel says:

God, not every decision has to do with PR. I know LeAnn likes to call the paps, but that doesn’t mean every celebrity has them on speed dial. Sometimes innocent outings are just innocent outings.

    • Beta says:

These pics come from Fame/Flynet and WENN
      (see ref), paparazzi agencies.
I doubt these two are big enough for 2 agencies to have paps posted outside of their home 24/7

      • yoyo says:

I was wondering about that, like why are they constantly getting papped? I mean he’s not that much of a big deal. He doesn’t have that profile and truth be told I didn’t think he was shooting for that but apparently he is cause he had to be calling the paps to take the pix every few days. And I know he’s got big strong arms but he can’t be going very far with that kid cause no matter what the kid would get uncomfortable and his arms crampy. So yeah, I think this is a PR move and it’s getting too obvious and needs to stop.

    • Jane says:

While I go love the photos of him holding his sweet little baby, I wonder why she isn’t in a stroller since it would seem safer. Anyone can trip and fall and it isn’t as if he doesn’t have time at home to carry her around.

    • Ann Emmess says:

I get an innocent vibe in the sense of “nice enough people doing something harmless and cute with the bebe.” But not in the sense of “nice enough people who don’t get how this helps their image and don’t nudge it along.” I don’t know much about her, but he strikes me as the sort who’s probably a lot more knowing/astute than people instinctively credit him for. The open face and the big arms — now accessorized with a baaaybeeee — are a pretty good diversion.

  3. Marianne says:

Robopocalypse is a GREAT book. You should read it.

    • Green is Good says:

Ditto that. Great story brilliantly told from the POV of survivors of the “robot” uprising. This includes cars, toasters, any electronics devices used by mankind. Scary and it sucks you right in!

  4. lisa2 says:

I think he is being groomed to be the next Arnold. It would be nice to see him in roles that are not all beef cake. See if he has range to do more. But maybe this is his niche.

The pictures of the family are cute, but I also note that if this was some other celebs there would be screams of photo ops and pimping kids/babies. so yep the Double Standard is still alive and well. Man it just never gets sick.

    • Hughie says:

I agree that he needs to mix it up and not be beef cakey all the time. Maybe thats his niche like you said but, some of us are getting sick of it already.

    • CG says:

I was thinking that too! Like, even though every actor wants to work with Spielberg, is he like, “Oh great, another action movie?” Does he get tired being the franchise-y action guy all the time? Does he just want to do some little indie drama or something? But I really don’t care what he’s in, because I’ll watch it! And I def co-sign that Elsa’s setting all this up.

  5. marie says:

who is his wife, I mean what has she done besides Chris?

  6. Jade says:

Am I seeing things or is the title for the article incorrect?

  7. Jacq says:

I thought his wife was his mother in the first thumbnail.

  8. beyonce's bump says:

Ya I am not quite sure what pataky has done. Chris carrying his little baby DOES get old. It was cute the first five times. smh

    • Chattycat says:

Does that woman ever hold the baby herself? What’s wrong with a stroller?

I like him less and less with each picture and I have no idea who she is other then his wife. He seems to be led around by a binky.

  9. serena says:

Awwwwww, oh my god the baby totally seems like a doll in his (hot) arms.

  10. Anna says:

Ummm, this is about Chris but it says Liam in the title 🙂

And good god, I know he’s got strong arms, but I’d go nuts if I had to carry my baby around like that all the time, essentially robbing me of the use of an arm or even two. His wife’s a lucky bitch though 🙂

  11. Eve says:

This number of paparazzi/candid pictures isn’t weird. I already told you that’s what you should expect if Pataky is around. Nobody gives a flying f*ck about her alone, so she’ll milk every opportunity she’s with Hemsworth to get noticed. See the way she smiles in that fifth picture? I bet she tips the paps.

If she manages to do with Hemsworth the same she did with Adrien Brody, we’ll come across many more photo ops. Maybe even a tacky photoshoot is in the works right now.

    • QQ says:

Oh Eve, you mean like patting African children in the head amidst a quote about her “gorgeousness” and posing in front of a castle in an empty Bathtub type shit?

      Pataky could OutLeeAnn LeeAnn

      • Eve says:

Yes, that one. She was all made-up, with the kids — conveniently wearing traditional African attire (because that’s what they must wear everyday, right?) — around her…

        http://www.laineygossip.com/Content/images/articles/brody-pataky-1-29jan09.jpg

That small text below in that page’s left corner reads:

Actress Elsa Pataky walks along a road in South Africa surrounded by a group of smiling local children, who are mesmerized by her beauty and down-to earth affection.

P.S.: there were TWO tacky photoshoots — one in Africa, the other one in the fake castle.

      • Vivienne says:

Oh, lol, thanks a lot for posting that link. I looked at her African photos and I almost barfed. She’s such a fake, and I hope she doesn’t ruin Chris’s career with her BS and parading for publicity photos. It’s one thing if they’re camped outside the door. I’ve really tried to be happy for them and like her, but she’s awfully unlikeable. Maybe it’s because she comes across is such a phony. Besides her Barbara Eden (Jeannie) looks, there must be something in her personality that he admires. Baby is a cutie.

    • another nina says:

I absolutely wholeheartedly agree with you, Eve. Pataki is the only thing I don’t like about this Chris. Her castle is the memory I can’t get rid of…
Speaking of Chrises, how’s your favorite, the one with gonorrhea? Is he any better these days?;) ahahahah

      • Eve says:

Yes, my favourite is (allegedly) the one with gonorrhea. In fact, I don’t like — nor dislike — Hemsworth. He does nothing for me. But I cringe every time I see these photo ops. His marriage to Pataky will give *thisbitch* the attention she WOULD NEVER get on her own.

By the way, I saw your dig at MAH husband on another thread — which I can’t remember — saying he had no personality…I let that one slide, but you’d better watch out.

      • another nina says:

Yup, I was sure you would notice it ahahah 😉 But in all seriousness, I wanted to give him a chance – people keep talking about him, and I love coming across someone interesting… I honestly read four or five of his interviews – in Details, in GQ, etc – the one that was done by a girl-reporter that got drunk, etc. And I can’t grasp anything… He is so closed up, it’s ridiculous. The only glimpse of light was a story about a 6 y.o. boy in nyc, who was returning home with his mom via central park, and the kid was wearing captain america’s outfit, completed with shield, etc. Apparently they were shooting final scene in Avengers, and the boy saw Chris from a far. Suddenly, a woman, standing next to a boy, shouted something along the lines – Chris, come here, look at this wonder. Naturally, it’s was momma evans. So, chris was at first reluctant just because he did not want to ruin boy’s illusion. But eventually they took a very sweet picture. I just realized that I might have told you this story before but I smile every time I remember about that picture, so pls be prepared for another five re-itterations of this story.
        p.s. I hope you’ll let me out of the side-eye bullpen 😉

      • Eve says:

Yup, I was sure you would notice it ahahah

Yeah, you’re totally throwing the bait there 🙂 .

I don’t mind that you don’t think *MY* Chris is all that, honestly — in fact, I enjoy our fake fights here on Celebitchy.

I read that story on Laineygossip (was written by Sarah though) and it’s really sweet. Both Evans and Tom Hiddleston were really nice and down-to-earth and made that kid’s day!

      • Kay says:

The one in Africa was the worst. It was SO offensive! Yes let the pretty blonde white lady pose with all these poor “mesmerized” African children. They’re not in “awe” of her beauty, they were in awe of the fact that it is hot as Satans balls there and she’s in full make up and wearing leather boots. Bitch please take a seat with all that foolishness!

    • Jenna says:

      Whoa, whoa, whoa…am I still a 51% share-holder?

  12. Cathy says:

He really does nothing form me. But him as a Terminator, he’s got the Terminator body so that sounds interesting.

  13. Lady Lupton says:

Don’t they own a pram? Surely they can afford one.

  14. Diana says:

Oh no… I m on serious CGI fatigue. Too many superheroes, too many apocalypses… Still Spielberg + Hemsworth? Definitely. Maybe.

  15. LittleDeadGirl says:

God he looks so much better with dark hair. I really honestly didn’t care for him until I saw him as the Huntsman and I think he has some real acting potential. I want to see him in a gritty dark movie.

  16. Jenna says:

Gosh I love the man, but even I’m getting tired of all the photo-ops. And I have no doubts that Elsa’s the one behind it all.

That being said, I’m still excited about the movie AND he even won a TCA last night. Loved seeing those pics of his pretty face and see-through shirt. Unf! 😀

  17. RHONYC says:

    gosh! *swoon*

i swear to Zeus, beefy DILFs carrying their offspring is ‘the’ new porn!!!

i don’t know why its so damn sexy, it just is. ugh! 😕

  18. Az says:

I’d watch him read the phone book as long as he was flexing those arms the entire time.

  19. Minxx says:

I wonder what Adrien Brody thinks of all this… and what happened to that castle he bought for her when they were dating? LOL!
She definitely bet on the right horse with Hemsworth.. MUCH more potential as far as HW blockbusters/attention are concerned.

  20. Mia 4S says:

I am starting to side eye all these photo ops. His wife is definitely a player and I can’t help but think a little less of him.

Talent wise I’m undecided. The Marvel movies don’t really require great acting, and RDJ and Ruffalo pretty much overpower anyway. Still, he has buckets of charisma (see 5 minutes in Star Trek). We will see.

  21. jen7waters says:

Oooh my Thor! A Spielberg movie, YAY!!

    India <3

  22. Megan says:

I don’t know who his wife is really, but is she known for being a bad person? Like a bitch or something or has anyone met her? Just wondering since everyone seems to like to rip her to pieces for taking walks with her husband and their baby. Chris seems like a pretty down to earth and cool guy, I doubt he would choose to marry this woman if she was as awful as you all claim her to be.

    • RHONYC says:

ppl are prob just mad that she’s had her way with 3 hotties in the last 4-5 yrs, locking down & marrying the 3rd/best outta the bunch. good for her!
      i don’t hate.
      i appreciate.
      b*tch got skillz. 😉

  23. I Choose Me says:

In pic No 3 he reminds me of Ryan Kwanten a little bit.

  24. joan says:

Im happy for him, so he has avengers 2, thor 2, SWATH 2, and now this, not bad Mr. Hemsworth

  25. Kay says:

He did say he was kinda getting his fill of the big action movie thing because of Thor and SWATH, but it’s Spielberg, what actor would turn that down.

On the Elsa thing, it’s interesting I just saw a press junket video where he said he and Elsa met through their mutual dialect coach. That is the exact same way she met Adrian Brody! Coincidence? Probably not… Like I’ve said before she’s a starter wife, he’ll get over the pap thing quick.

    • Vivienne says:

I think she tied CH up as quickly as she could. She’s so goooood with all of her experience! I disagree that he’ll get tired and ever leave her. My vibes are that he’s a deep caring and sensitive person, and a family man. The only way he’s leaving is if she cheats on him. And she’s finally got her ace in the hole. She’ not letting him go and that’s why she got him tied down so quickly with a baby. Of course, I don’t know how Aussie men are, perhaps their culture is different, but I don’t see him ever leaving when he has a child with her. She’d have to be unbearable or cheat. He’s stuck with her, so I hope she’s nicer than she appears. Anyone else feel this way?

      • Kay says:

I understand what you’re saying about him, I see him being very loyal also. My view is that he seems like a very down to earth guy, so as much as he is a family man I think all that attention, which is mostly generated for her benefit, will get tiresome eventually.
That being said I wouldn’t put it past
her to cheat on him. I just hope some time in the future he finds someone who will not use his accomplishments for her own gain, that’s what I meant. 🙂

    • Eve says:

On the Elsa thing, it’s interesting I just saw a press junket video where he said he and Elsa met through their mutual dialect coach. That is the exact same way she met Adrian Brody!

Oh my god, then that’s her MO! This bitch is more cunning than I could possibly think. I bet she went to that dialect after seeing his list of clients.

      • Vivienne says:

Exactly!!!! Unbelievable set-up from the first moment. I feel so sorry for……deserves better.

      • Kay says:

Yep, super creepy! I actually got chills when I heard him say that.(The bad kind, obvs.)

If anyone is interested here is the link where Chris says how they met:
        http://www.mix1011.com.au/shows/drive/videos/chris-hemsworth-caught-up-with-sami-lukis

And Adrian Brody said that is how he and Elsa met in the castle photo op article.

      • Vivienne says:

I think there were even more contrivances by the Mrs. Everything all adds up from everything I’ve heard said, too. I don’t see how anyone could be happy in the long run with someone who manipulates things to get what they want. Just awful!!!

Adriene Brody should be kissing the ground and thanking his lucky stars that he escaped this poisonious spider’s web, and all he paid really was the money for a faux castle. Poor CH.

      • Eve says:

Adriene Brody should be kissing the ground and thanking his lucky stars that he escaped this poisonious spider’s web, and all he paid really was the money for a faux castle. Poor CH.

Unfortunately, Vivienne, I think it may have cost more than just that castle. I think his relationship with Pataky may have cost his career. In order to please her (read it “buy her everything”), he accepted roles in some shitty movies — that was disastrous for his career.

It certainly cost his reputation — most people now thinks he’s a pushover and a fool. Let’s face it: he was.

P.S.: I don’t think she’ll make any mistakes with Hemsworth though — I mean, she can’t afford that. He’s the big prize, she’s a nobody (aside from being married to him) and 36 years old. She’ll do everything she can to keep him, including watching him like a hawk.

      • Vivienne says:

Too bad for Adriene Brody. I’ll have to look at his film history and see what’s going on with him now, but this is all very interesting.

I think it’s weird that everything always points to manipulations and cunning on her part. When asked if the pregnancy was planned he said, “Yes and No, but he had to remain tightlipped about it.” Meaning, she set up the pregnancy as well. (My sympathy for CH grows.)

  26. Feebee says:

I read that he’s got the role. Spielberg loves his sci-fi. Randomly I saw the book today (ha, in amongst chicklit and biographies?) and bought it. It sounds a little Terminator-esqe and who doesn’t like a little Terminator? The new Arnie? I hope he tries a few different roles soon otherwise he might be stuck there. It’s not the worst thing but….
