More photos from last night’s Teen Choice Awards! Here’s Zoe Saldana in a two-piece ensemble by Jonathan Saunders, a designer I am not familiar with. At first glance, I actually liked this on Zoe, although on second and third glances, I’m not wild about it. The design is… okay. It’s the kind of thing that only a girl with Zoe’s build can really pull off. Put this skirt and a cropped shell on a girl with short legs or any kind of curves, and it would look completely awful. So… kudos to Zoe for choosing something that is appropriate (and unique) for her figure. That being said, I guess my problem might be with the fabric. Notably, the print. The print isn’t all that great. It looks like a 1970s print… for pillows.
Next up: Gwen Stefani, who walked the red carpet with No Doubt, and No Doubt performed at the awards show too. For the carpet, Gwen also wore a two-piece ensemble, and I ended up liking hers a lot more than Zoe’s. Gwen went with Yves Saint Laurent – look at that vest! That’s really awesome. And I like her general styling here too – usually I want to wipe off some of her makeup and edit her outfit, but this version of Gwen is pretty great. Gwen’s shoes are Louboutin, by the way. Is Tony wearing Doc Martens?

It’s funny you mentioned the seventies my first thought when I saw this outfit was “didn’t I have an outfit like that when I was 10?” Yes I did but even then my material was better then Zoe’s.

I like Gwen’s top, she does look good. How often must she touch up her roots too? It’s a wonder her hair hasn’t all fallen out.

I don’t hate Zoe’s outfit. It add volume to her scrawny figure.
Gwen’s outfit is nice but I can’t help but imagine that she must be sweating under that leather vest.

I liked Zoe’s outfit too! My only doubt is if it wasn’t exactly right for Teen choice awards; a bit to…I don’t know, mature? Grown up? I mean, the references were probably all lost on the girls watching this. Otherwise, cute, pretty and even somewhat sofisticated.
I disliked Gwen’s appearance; her outfit seemed un-summery (you’re right, she probably sweated the heck out of that vest). Her make up was still very clownish and her hair… ugh. Talk about fried. Girl needs to do a total makeover: Gwen 4.3, Natural Style.

I don’t mean to be small and petty or even insulting but IMO Zoe Saldana always has and will look like the Grinch that Stole Christmas. I’m sorry. That’s shallow but there it is.

It’s the lines around her mouth. It’s weird how sometimes she can look really pretty and others like she’s old. Not sure if it’s the lighting or camera angle.

Zoe’s shoes clash with her dress. She’d look better if she gained 15 lbs. The slightly bare midriff isn’t helping, either. Gwen knows how to work a kid-friendly, rockstar persona when the occasion requires. Me likey.
I find Zoe to be annoying. Her posing is often too try-hard, especially in photo spreads. A natural model she is not. She also hasn’t wowed me with her acting skills. CGI acting in Avatar does not count. But mainly, on a purely superficial level, she looks a lot like my cousin, only taller and thinner. My cousin is a straight up manipulative bitch, so there you have it.

Perhaps some of it is. Hey, I’m only human. She is an okay actress and overrated as a fashionista. She’s often praised because she’s skinny enough to wear size 2 couture. Meh, that’s not enough. She’s worn a lot of fugly outfits in the past. Fan Bingbing is a hundred times better on the red carpet. Zoe probably has a sweet personality but she looks a lot like my cousin. It’s similar to a nice guy who repels you because he looks too much like an asshole ex-boyfriend.

I like Gwen when she’s dressed simply like this. Would have liked edgier shoes, but overall, I’m pleased. And yes – Tony’s in DMs. The shoes of the Gods!!

Zoe has a gorgeous figure and the worst taste in clothes. Gwen looks incredible. Love her vest and shoes so much. I wish she wasn’t wearing sunglasses for the carpet.

ok, could you imagine Kim K in Zoe’s dress?… that short, girly girl poof is a look she used to go for…yikes…now THAT would be wrong! as for Gwen..she most likely is quite grey by now so the roots might not be as obvious for continually having to touch up. hard to say. Most women are going grey at her age but not all. I’m 47 and still plucking those silly things out and my hair is super dark..but, it won’t be long till i have to used those toxins to cover them. *sigh*

Hmmm…usually I can’t find fault with Zoe Saldana, she rarely puts a foot wrong fashion-wise.
But…I’ve seen her make better fashion choices.

I so wanted to defend whatever outfit she is wearing cause I kinda like Zoe but god that is awful. I hate everything about it and I don’t care if she’s skinny and can pull off anything. No one call pull off that ugliness.

I dig the colour and the pattern of Zoe’s skirt and blouse but not the cut or style. As for those shoes, ugh!

Gwen Stefani is the picture of perfection here. Although I’m a die hard Gwenophile, so I’m biased. I also love how the boys are all platinum here too. I REALLY like how Adrian Young will forever be a punkass SoCal kid from 1993, even when he’s wearing a sport coat.

I think she’s looking good here, it seems she softened up her shade of red lipstick but this band’s been DOA for over a decade since No Doubt doesn’t really have anything to do now that Gwen can’t whine about not being married. Do something, and/or let Emily Haines get on with her work.

I love both outfits. Zoe looks great in that African print. Gwen looks fab as ever with those cat shades and leather vest. Not exactly a summer outfit, but still fab.
