Tom Hiddleston is the dorky Boy Scout of crushes: would you hit it?

I will pretty much give wall-to-wall coverage to Michael Fassbender and Benedict Cumberbatch whenever we have new photos of those lovely men, but for the most part, I haven’t really fallen for Tom Hiddleston, despite many of you trying to get me interested in him. The way I feel about Tom – if I’m being completely honest – is that my heart is already owned by two ginger boys, Fassy and Prince Harry. Do I have room, do I have the time, do I have the inclination, do I have the need to fall for Tom Hiddleston? I don’t know. I’ve come across various videos and interviews from Tom which made me go, “Huh, he IS cute.” But I’ve yet to have that crush-defining moment where I go, “YES, my new obsession!”

Anyway, these are some new photos of Tom in Cologne, Germany, meeting with some German Hiddlestoners. From what I’ve heard and seen, Tom is really sweet to his fans. Well, he just seems like a sweetheart in general. Fassbender is a boy’s boy, happy that he’s gotten a higher profile, but he still treats a lot of his “fame” with some skepticism and “coolness”. Whereas Tom is just incredibly earnest and… I don’t know, there’s something winningly needy and nerdy about him. I’m not saying that in a bad way – he just seems to be the Dorky Boy Scout of the Young, Hot British Actors.

And much like my beloved Cumberbatch, Hiddleston’s hotness definitely improves when you see him in motion, and you can hear his voice. He also does great impressions – his Owen Wilson is AMAZING.

Cute, right? Sigh… maybe I do have room in my heart to love him.

Dear Hiddlestoners: how much do you want to be a pen cap right now?

YES. A blue-eyed (albeit a little thin-looking in the pics) Brit? Yes, yes, yes. I don’t usually like gingers, either. I know I’m weird for being attracted to Loki.

  2. Turtle Dove says:

    gorgeous when he smiles… *sigh*

  3. carrie says:

he looks like one of my colleagues but he was fine in THOR and in Spielberg movie

    • Adrien says:

He looks like a regular dude on pictures but totally steals the spotlight from hunky Chris Hemsworth.

    • CG says:

The first time I saw him was in War Horse, and when he came on the screen all blond and upper-crusty and perfect, it was literally a “take my breath away” moment in the theater. I just sat there thinking, “Who is THAT????” As soon as the movie ended, I Googled him, and I have been a serious Hiddlestoner ever since. When the Avengers trailer came out, I even watched it on YouTube about a million times just so I could hear him say “I have an army” in that vagina-exploding voice. So, yes, I would do very, very naughty things to him, all day and all night! ;)

    • Liv says:

He has so much charisma! Totally my Avengers crush! ;-)

  4. dee says:

NO. He’s ugly and overrated. It’s the same with Cumberbatch.

  5. Jacq says:

Who? What’s he in? Kaiser, stop trying to force your crushes on us!

  6. sanna says:

I looked at his twitter a while back and it was SO embarrassing. he has the worst fans too. Thumbs down.

  7. jamie says:

HELL YES TO INFINITY. What a great start to my day

  8. original almond says:

    Like there’s no tomorrow.

  9. Little Darling says:

I’ve never heard of him! So for the title and the menu picture I thought, No WAY…too skinny and his cheekbones kind of yucked me out. Once inside I thought, eh, not bad, petty cute and started to read a bit more of what Kaiser had to say I found myself thinking, I would probably like him and have a crush on him (tall lanky smart funny dorks are pretty much my type). Then I saw the picture/video of him with scruff (I LOVE me some scruffy dorks the most) and I have to say, fireworks went off in my pants!! I am definitely a sapiosexual, and when a man adds humour into the mix…stand back!! :)

    Yep. I’d do him.

    • Little Darling says:

I’m sooooo repeat posting on this!!! :)

Okay, so first of all, I responded first on just the top half of the post, after reading what Kaiser wrote. Then I finished scrolling down to the rest of the pictures and saw DIMPLES and a beautiful smile! The panty thump-o-meter went waaaay up. Then I clicked into the video…oh man, I think I started to sweat. He IS so much better in action, and to watch him impersonate my other panty killer Chris Evans…sold. This guy is a sugarball rolled in charisma and honey. DELISH.

  10. Tiffany27 says:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!! An emphatic yes! Where is Eve to back me up?!?!?

  11. DeltaJuliet says:

I never had a thing for him as Loki, probably because I disliked the character so much. But now that I have seen him as himself, well, I have a HUGE crush on him. He’s adorable. I do’t want to do dirty things to him though, I just want to snuggle him and hold hands like a young teenager :)

  12. Eve says:

Answering some of the posters above: he is LOKI in Thor and The Avengers!!!

The video showing him eating chocolate before an interview is the cutest:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwlEhOmcmgM

  13. void says:

The way his eyes light up when he smiles, his laugh…I love him forever. And he is so, so incredibly talented.

  14. Beth says:

Totally, liked him after his stint on MTV After Hours. He was really cute and funny. I have heard his is secretly married to another actress though.

  15. GoodCapon says:

    A resounding YES!

I’m still waiting for Henry V to be available online :(

  16. ds says:

I like him. He does a really really good job as an actor and is funny. He reminds me of a friend. Gay friend though. Maybe that’s why I don’t find him to be hot. But I like him. So, I am all for Hiddle love. Sweet guy

  17. Maria_Spain says:

loki ? ehm… YES YES YYYEEESSS!!!!!

  18. Kate says:

God, I looove his voice:)of course, eyes and smile… but his voice gives me shivers

  19. Feebee says:

Had never seen him before Avengers (I skipped Thor) but was captivated enough to google him afterwards. He did masses of Avengers publicity so I’d have to say after watching some of that I was Hiddlestoned. Temporary condition unlike some of his fans who are unfortunately bat-shit crazy.

But in answer to the question… yes.

  20. Rose says:

I have to say he came top of the list when I was lining up my Avengers, to my surprise! His voice, yum.

  21. Cathy says:

I’ve never seen either one of those movies, but he is kind of cute. So yeah, I’d hit it just for some fun.

  22. Leigh says:

I think my crush defining moment on Hiddleston came when I saw this clip from “The Hollow Crown” (the four-part miniseries the BBC put on prior to the Olympics). Hiddles played Prince Hal in Henry IV (parts 1 & 2) and Henry V, and this part where he’s wooing Catherine of Valois? SWOON!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ-SAaiudCY

Of course, I’m a huge nerd so that does it for me. ;)

  23. Hubbahun says:

You are so spot-on when you say you need to see him in ‘motion’ to get it – I didn’t see the attraction at all at first – then I saw the Avengers…sigh… Yeah I’d hit that.

  24. grabbyhands says:

I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a fangirl, but I find him adorable. Sweet and funny. He’s obviously excited and happy about everything that’s coming his way right now and that’s cool. The poor guy is saddled with tumblr nutjobs that are almost as bad as the ones for the Batch. Those girls are cray cray.

  25. Halfmydadsage says:

The duo of my British crushes. Tom and Benedict. Loki and Sherlock. Cmon these two are magic to watch. And both gingers too. Thank you for posting them both. More! More! More!

  26. Madpoe says:

    OH THANK YOU! :)
My crush only just begin with Tom this summer and I was hopin’ to see some pix of him. I enjoy hearing how he is with his fans, I would be too shy to approach him (or anyone I liked) to ask for a pix, so the more I hear how normal, laid back and cool he (or someone) is the more I’d probably be comfortable to at least smile back.

  27. Schneeweißchen says:

Did he get his eye-lashes perm’d? Also he dropped weight :/

  28. mirianaval says:

I am Italian and I apologize for bad English.Tom is a wonderful actor, with a magnificent voice and a special MIME.Very sweet with fans deserves a great success.

  29. Ranunculus says:

I think he is really talented and he has range (Watch him in Avengers and in Archipelago, the guy can act!). His voice is gorgeous and he has a face that the camera loves – so I am interested in what he will do next. Unfortunately he comes across as a bit smarmy and try hard in interviews, which I hope is just because this massive fame is just a bit overwhelming to him. I hope he gets a lot more cooler about it in the future.

  30. couldn't help it says:

I swear, in certain photos he reminds me of Kaiser’s Fassypants. From the eyes & up?

  31. Steph says:

He is tall, intelligent, charming, eloquent and has the most insanely captivating English accent so yeah I would effin hit it. OMG would I ever!!!! Got dayum he does it for me! I would take an intelligent man over Hemsworth-type beefcake anyday. That scene in the Avengers when he saunters down the stairs in a full suit and coat combo??? Seriously, I died…

  32. Kristen says:

Have you seen, “The Deep Blue Sea”?? There’s a scene, toward the end, where he’s sitting w/Rachel Weisz… watch that and then get back to us.

  33. Jen says:

I’d hit that and marry that. If you think there’s room in your heart, Kaiser, he’ll find his way in sooner or later and then there will be no turning back!

  34. Chickie Baby says:

You’re right—he’s kind of cute in a dorky way. Pretty smile, too.

  35. Shaitana says:

I do believe he has lost weight recently, perhaps for the role he is filming? Anyways, YES I would hit that. He is single, charming, intelligent, talented, handsome and seems to genuinely enjoy what he does and appreciates his fans. I can’t believe some of the people commenting here with such vitriol about he and his fans. Fine you don’t have to like the guy, but do you have to be so insulting?

    • Eve says:

What? Most people here are being incredibly sweet when talking about him.

But there’s no denial that he has some really obsessed fans. And it’s worrisome that he indulges them.

    • Charlotte says:

Yes he’s playing a vampire in the new Jim Jarmusch movie, which is filming at Germany right now. Interestingly Fassbender was orignaly cast for the role.

      • Ranunculus says:

Wow, that’s interesting. Yeah I think he is really talented. Fassbender is good, but honestly I am more interested in what Hiddles is in. He, Renner, Hardy and Gosling, IMO are more captivating and more talented than Fassbender. Hope Hiddles is not going down the staged pap route Gosling is doing. Stick to acting guys, everything else is stupid BS. Look what happened to Gyllenhaal, who’s career is literally dead.

  36. LadyLupton says:

Yes please, all day long and twice on Sunday.

  37. valleymiss says:

Omg, that video of his impressions is hilarious! I especially love his Samuel L. Jackson: “If you’d told me this was a costume party, I would have brought mine!” He’s funny! (I don’t care for Cumberbatch at ALL, but Hiddleston is cute. Not hot, per se, but cute.) It always makes me laugh, though, how ppl started saying that Katy Perry without makeup looks like Loki! Lol!

  38. lisel says:

Yes Hiddleston is a nerd, he’s one of those actor/movie fanboy nerds that women flock to when they get tired of the usual beefcake and half a brain on the side type of men. He’s very intellegent, very focused, he seems to enjoy what he does without being a douche about it and he’s an amazing actor. Some of his fans on the other hand can be catty, possessive, insane fangirls who stalk him to his hotel, steal pictures from his private Facebook, beg for attention on Twitter, and go insane whenever he’s with a woman who isn’t them. Adore him, hate his fandom.

  39. EscapedConvent says:

I think Hiddles is adorable. (And we can call him “Hiddles.”) War Horse left me incredibly depressed, but I would say see it for the brief time Hiddleston is onscreen. His character is heart-wrenching.

And, I hope I don’t rattle anyone here too much by pointing out that many people have noticed Hiddleston’s resemblance to Fassy.

  40. Amy says:

Wow. Reading through the comments here has enlightened me to his creepy fandom and terrible tweeting, and that’s a lamer aspect to him I wish I didn’t know about. I’m a casual crusher, but I love him (totally using “love” in a non-stalker-y, casual way).

He’s looking a little too scrawny here, but I would still hit it so hard. He’s too adorable (and that smile!!). I wish he got as much coverage here as Fassbender. A girl can dream….

  41. sanna says:

Ugh I’m so sick of these slight wimpy British men taking over (Hiddleston, Ben Wishaw, Sparkles FootFace). Why is everyone an Anglophile? Accents don’t mean anything.

  42. Arina says:

I love love LOVE him. And though I’ve unknowingly followed his career ever since Cranford (he seems to be doing just the stuff I love to watch) I’ve only just recently gone into a full blown crush for him. His Prince Hal/Henry V definitely did the trick for me. So talented. And handsome in that understated elegant British way (sort of reminds me of a young Ralph Fiennes). Add to that him being an Eton, Cambridge & RADA graduate, speaking several languages (Ancient Greek & Latin among them), playing the piano & guitar… well, what more do you need, really? I’m a sucker for incredibly intelligent & well read men and proud of it tbh. As someone else pointed here before, much more of a turn on than the hunky not so intelligent type. :p Don’t relate to the Cumberbatch obsession though, I do however think he’s also a fantastic actor. On the other hand, totally get the Fassbender attraction. :)

  43. Mel says:

Thanks for providing MY crush defining moment!

  44. Darlene says:

…yes, I would…again and again and again and again

  45. Sofia says:

HELL YES I’d hit it. All night long, and hopefully well into the next day.

    But seriously:

Tom is not only very, very good-looking, but he’s the sweetest man ever. If anyone knows of any serious deal breaking flaws, please let me know. I haven’t found a single one yet. His accent doesn’t even really play a big part in my attraction to him. His overall personality is what I like about him, and I seriously never, ever, ever like celebrities outside of their various characters. I actually like Tom more than most of his characters, but that’s not because they’re poorly done or anything. They’re good and I think he’s a fantastic actor.

    Whew. Oh…

Slight and wimpy?! I guess it’s a matter of opinion. You can always have Tom Hardy.

  46. Malificent says:

Tom’s not movie-star perfect, he’s normal-guy cute. And he has the ability to be a great character actor like Alec Guinness or Gary Oldman. Which means that he’ll be thanking the Academy decades after every hunk-of-the-month he currently works with is long gone….

And genuine talent is always hot! So, yes, I’d hit it so hard that the Earth would spin off its axis….

  47. jamie says:

I challenge the handful of commenters who say they wouldn’t hit to go watch Henry V.

Im in as fan 8) don´t know how to use twitter so…i rather live this way my fanatism XD

  51. j. eyre says:

Oddly, it was a post by you, Kaiser, several months back that attracted me to him in the first place. I barely knew of Tom Hiddleston but you posted a photo of him that stopped me mid-scroll and I have been snared ever since.
But I second the suggestions of not looking at his twitter or his fandom.

  52. Camille (The original) says:

He’s cute (as someone said ‘cute in a ‘normal guy way”) and he IS much better in motion (those impressions were fantastic!) than in still photos, but no, I probably wouldn’t hit it. He seems like he would be fun to hang out with (in the friend zone) though :) .

  53. Marianne says:

I love me some Hiddleston. WAAAAAYYY more than Cumberbatch.

  54. dread pirate cuervo says:

I would hit it early & often. Love me some Loki.

  55. ichsi says:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO now celebitchy has fallen to the Hiddles virus as well… There’s basically no site i read on a regular basis where he’s not constantly popping up! I liked him as Loki and he seems quite charming, but he’s not the sex God, nor the great thesp everyone making him out to be!!! Aw, shucks!

  56. jaynie says:

Oh lord. I came out of 2 years of lurking on this website to post this comment.

There is always room for a Hiddleston obsession! That man is just beautiful. I would hit it harder than Chris Brown hit Rihanna.

  57. ToastedSkin says:

omg a tom hiddleston post! you have no idea how happy this makes me.
& that impressions video is fantastic, he’s so good at them. His chris evans was so perfect too.

  58. JB says:

    Gorgeous man is gorgeous.
    More of him always! *salute!*

  59. ViktoryGin says:

    All day, everyday baby

I love watching him in interviews and hearing him speak. Not just for the sound of his voice but for the substance of the things that he says. Yes, he’s erudite, but their is a soulfulness to his eloquence that is disarming.

  60. Confused says:

I get why people are saying his fans are creepy because a lot of them totally are. But his Twitter? How in the world is his Twitter creepy? He’s unbelievably kind to EVERYONE, quotes Shakespeare, acts like a normal person in that he gets excited over stuff like the Olympics and The Dark Knight Rises…

There’s also NO WAY he’s smarmy in interviews! He’s incredibly smart, yes, which I guess is intimidating to some people, but he gives very articulate responses and goes with the flow of the interviewer. Like when he was interviewed by those radio station guys, he was cool and edgy, rapping Will Smith’s “Miami.” But he can sit and discuss Shakespeare with scholars, too. Well-rounded and charming, this guy. Don’t see how anyone could dislike him unless they were jealous.

  61. LondonLou81 says:

    Example of talent, intelligence and charisma making the man FIT. God knows, I’m a giant, but every time I see Radders interviewed I think, ‘yep…he’s Harrp Potter, he’s about 5 inches shorter than me…but we might be able to make it work for at *least* a decent snog?’ :-}

  62. Birdie says:

I am only attracted to him as Loki

  63. Sheryl says:

He’s so adorable, I love him!!!

  64. Zoe .R says:

I will always love Tom Hiddleston …….he’s also really hot as Loki
    To Tom : I love u Tom I’m ur #1 fan :) !!! Please reply :) !!!

I love Tom Hiddleston. He is wonderful. If I ever write a letter to him, it will not be to proclaim my undying love for him, or to try to get his attention. It will be to tell him how I thought he was a jerk (I’m not good at figuring people’s character), but I grew to realize how wonderful he is. He is a sweethearted guy, and I will always think of him as a friend who holds a special place in my heart.
