I could stare at these photos all day. In fact, I actually had to hold back and just pick and choose what I considered the most interesting shots as far body language and facial expressions went. These are photos from yesterday’s Olympic equestrian event (Team Jumping), in which the British team took home silver medals. On Team GB? Zara Phillips, granddaughter of the Queen, daughter of Princess Anne, and cousin to Princes Harry and William. And cousin-in-law to Duchess Kate. Zara’s family was out in full force to support her – and these are some photos of Kate, Will and Harry in the stands cheering her on.
Can I just say? At most public events, Kate’s smile seems shellacked, sometimes forced, sometimes frozen. I don’t really blame her for that, and it’s only a mild criticism of a completely subjective reading of her body language. But in these photos… she seems so un-forced. So much more relaxed. So comfortable. Maybe it’s because she forgot she was being photographed. Maybe it’s because she’s interacting with her husband and her brother-in-law and they’re both paying attention to her and that makes her genuinely happy. Maybe she just loves horsey events.
Kate wore her favorite Stuart Weitzman wedges for the event. I don’t know who made her nautical-striped tank, but the navy blazer (which she took off at one point) is Smythe, and it costs more than $700. Kate did wear the same blazer for the past several days, so I guess that constitutes a “repeat”. Plus, I’m pretty sure that blazer has been in her closet for a while, right? I think she was photographed wearing it last year too. I’m a little bit surprised Kate didn’t wear her own Olympic medal in Waity-ing.

It’s believed a British Military Officer is the father. Harry is a DEAD RINGER for the guy, from Red Hair to just about everything else.
That said, it doesn’t seem to matter. He’s very close to Prince Charles and his half-brother Will, and seems to be friendly with Will’s wife.
Looks like the royal family has a bright future if these 3 are any indication. I sure hope so anyway.
Yes, he clearly is upChuck’s son. The ginger comes from Di’s family and Harry’s close-set eyes and honker of a nose come straight from upChuck. Block out the rest of his face and just look at the eyes and bridge of nose and it’s very clear.
Could be you are right. But there has been a lot, and I mean a LOT of articles about the paternity, and I think it’s worth at least acknowledging the possibility. There has been a lot of research done by the British Press. It’s a fairly convincing bit of information.
But as I said – regardless, Prince Charles and the two boys are very close and they are a family no matter paternity. I’m glad they all get along so well and care so much about each other. They live in a world of hyper-criticism and spotlight, and by banding together they can hopefully weather the storm without going bonkers.

I was very happy for Zara, watched the whole event. Cuz horsies are my thing and until they allow endurance riding in, eventing is the closest thing.
I just saw them at the double scull rowing where the Brits won-go girls and Waity and wills were there looking very happy with one another again. I think they are just fine. They were very stoked that they won.
Waity wasn’t at the rowing – it was just wills and Harry. Who looked v bored & only perked up when the cameras were on them (I was sitting quite close by).

She looks always SO happy, to me it always seems a bit fake and don’t tell me she doesn’t know she is being photographed. She knows. All the time. I don’t think she is a natural smiley person like her sister.
I don’t think you chew the inside of your mouth as she is doing in the fourth pic if you think you are on camera.
I remember William used to be one of the hottest princes out there. What happened to him? As for Kate, even her curls are more relaxed in these photos.
I think William is one of those people with “inner sexiness” so that he’s not much to look at in snapshots, but I always find him compelling in video – the way he moves, etc. it’s not obvious anymore, lol.
I think the same thing. When he was about 18ish, oh mama. I don’t understand it, it’s not just losing his hair, everything changed and elongated or something. Very sad. I imagine Kate was crushing on those teen photos too. Do you think she noticed the change?

In fairness when you’ve been with someone a while you stop noticing how they look with any objectivity. I agree though: I recently saw a photo of William when he first went to university and my jaw dropped. I’d completely forgotten how spectacularly beautiful he was at that age, because by his mid-twenties he wasn’t at all attractive, in photos at least. Swiftest drop-off in looks ever. (Well, if you discount Lindsay Lohan, and she had drugs on her side.)
They are making baby eyes at each other! I am sure William’s job is stupidly stressful, which affects them both. I also think Kate flirts with Harry when she has nothing better to do, and that it’s part of her staying in there game.
I find her to be OTT with her facial expressions.Just look at the last picture…too forced.I think the Palace handlers told them to act it up a bit.
She might have been exaggerating while joking around though… I do the same thing sometimes when I’m teasing my boyfriend. Maybe not to the same extent, but we still make faces at each other and joke around.
That’s exactly what I thought–lots of press about how flirty she is with Harry and not with William. I think she and William were told to turn on the “chemistry” for the press.

Waity is not at all pretty when she makes huge smiles. Her lips are way too thin and then there is s view of her all her dental work. Her nose is a bulbous like her father’s nose. Again, she is sporting the espradilles with the super skinney painted on jeggings instead of flats. She does think she’s hot sh*t.
Also I bet this picture of a big happy family is because of all the recent comments about her relationship with Wills. Everything is looking way too forced and fake.

William looks more and more like his uncle Prince Edward while poor Harry looks more and more like Prince Charles, esp the one photo second from last.
Other than the red hair, I’m not sure why many questioned Harry’s paternity since Harry had/has Charles’ little close set beady eyes and protruding ears since day one.
As well as his jawline, both Harry and William are so tall and lean, and Charles short and pear shaped, I think it was easy to dismiss similarities but if you get pass the differences, his sons take his side of the family as much as their mothers and it showing more with age. Harry’s jawline and smile is the spit of Charles
Yes! Diana gave them their height & lean-ness. Wills got his hairline directly down the line from Prince Albert, Victoria’s husband. Look at any sketch/painting of Albert, and compare it to Wills…exact match.

Now that William is paying attention, looking affectionate again [did hell just freeze over!], she’s relaxed. Her smile is relaxed, her hair curls are relaxed. And her attentions to Harry aren’t OTT anymore. no guffawing, open mouthed grin.
I agree completely. We all know Kate is right there just waiting for his affections, that she would do anything for him in a heartbeat. But William wasn’t even looking at her at those few events with Harry around, so she talked to him so she wouldn’t just be standing there silently and awkwardly. Good for him for giving (or at least pretending) a hoot again. She just wants his attention. That’s all she ever wanted.
She does seem more relaxed here. The attention is not on her, it’s on Zara and the other competitors. She is just there to cheer her on.
You also forgot to mention Zara and her team won silver in this event! I think Zara is the first person to be related to a royal family (since technically she has no title) to win a medal!
Zara’s father Mark Philips is a gold and Silver Olympic champion. Munich 1972 and Seoul 1988 Olympics respectively. Same event
Princess Anne competed in the Montreal Olympics but didn’t win a medal although she was European Champion [Individual]in 1971 and 2 silver medal winner in 1975 [Individual and group]. Also same event.

Oh wow! I didn’t realize there had been so many!
Um….there is one picture when it appears they might be looking at each other. Might. In all others he is looking past her at Harry, someone’s tie, Bea and Eu, a bird, a souvenir neckpiece, air.
I am not saying they might not be back on solid ground, just that these pictures show nothing even resembling hot for each other. The closest shot looks like she is grinning at his left sunglasses lens. The more interesting shots in DM show B &E basically contorting themselves to sidestep her while she goes into crash position to examine her wedges. The most engaged shot in DM was the look she gave Harry. Again not saying they aren’t back to patting the muffin man, but these photos look like she is with her cousin or talking to Peter who sat next to William. Though I give her a point for mimicking crowd enthusiasm so well. Yeah, I am that bitchy today.
There was a shot in the DM this morning where she has her hand on his leg and he’s lacing his fingers with hers. They were both looking at/talking with the person she was sat next to, and it looked very normal, natural affection between a young married couple. No idea what their relationship is like, but I am not buying that it’s terrible. Seems like wishful thinking from people who want them to split, to me.
It’s not that people want them to split.
It’s the fact that Palace pr has sanctioned so many stories about how much they are in love using OTT emotive language which would have them practically humping each other in public.
It’s similar to the OTT stories about what a style icon she is when all she has done is be presentable.
Most people when looking at celebrities can usually spot the BS a mile away, but for some reason, they assume that W&C are above such tactics too.
If the palace sanctioned that romantic ski holiday story today, with these pictures, we would believe it.

Oh, the Palace PR is ridiculous, granted. The transparent efforts to make them a couple the Twilight fandom would go gloopy about are hilarious. But the efforts by those who never wanted them to marry to begin with are equally extreme, equally myopic, and just as plausible. The only difference is that the Palace’s strategy is deliberately chosen, whereas I think it’s wishful thinking from those very invested in disliking Kate. Nothing wrong with the latter; we all have various celebrities we despise. But it doesn’t make for objectivity.
They seem a fairly average young couple to me in terms of how they get along.
And I’m sorry, but it very much is the case that a lot of people who loathe Kate want them to split. Surely you know that’s so – was before the marriage, remains the case now.

I was going to say the reason she’s the center of attention is because she’s sat in between and he has to lean over her to talk to Harry, and Bea and Eugene. Had it been just the two of them?
And it probably helps that his cousin is in such an event. William and Zara get on and I bet he’s incrediably happy for her (hence that happiness has infected other parts of his life). Let’s see if he goes bcak to his normal self.
I do wonder if she isn’t quite shy. You know, the kind of person who is OTT at big events because the anxiety gets the adrenaline pumping and they can’t relax.
I also remember at the wedding, on the carriage ride when they went under Admiralty Arch or wherever, there was a break in the crowds and he thought they were unobserved. He immediately took her hand and leaned in closer, then as soon as they approached the cheers again he let go and moved back. Didn’t seem to know cameras were way above recording it. I think he’s like his grandmother that way, and rigidly unaffectionate in public. Here, he’s assuming all the attention is on Zara and so he relaxes more, and so does she.
And on another note I was so proud of the British team here! They did amazingly well, given we’re a tiny country with a small population. Gorgeous horses and ridden so beautifully.
He is not a cold person in public. There are lots of pictures of him being affectionate to people in public.
Immediately after the wedding and canada, he was openly affectionate towards her in public. Loads of pictures and videos. Gradually over time, he stopped.
And the palace has deflected the pr to kate and Harry BFFs as a distraction.
Now we have a set of warm pictures, all their pr is going to pump out stories that are about how much and desperately they are in love.
Again, LAK, you nailed it IMO. I doubt anyone thinks H and K are even thinking about a fling. The point we joke about is the giant contrast in interaction style between K and W and K and H. Versus the “they burn with passion” press comments when W and K sit blandly next to each other. And the sweet K bit, when she is from many accounts and photos something quite opposite.
I didn’t think he was very affectionate to her after the wedding/Canada, tbh. What I do remember is a solid history of critics saying how he was cold to and not into her, going back years. I remember comments about his ignoring her as far back as when he got his wings for the RAF and she was an unexpected guest.
Like I say, I think people (both sides of the coin) see what they want to see. I think they behave pretty well as they always have done, personally.
And I’ve heard accounts that she’s a very nice girl, so, you know. It comes down to what people choose to believe, really.
I remember reading reports where people who have met her said that she’s trying hard to be nice and it puts them off.

They’ve been together more than a decade, I think some of the initial lust has worn off… which is completely FINE. The problem is that the media constantly paints them to be this over-the-top, head-over-heels in love couple whose romance culminated in a fairy tale wedding last summer (ignoring all the numerous breakups in between) when pictures clearly state the opposite.
They’re never going to be all touchy in public with each other, I don’t think they’re that type of couple. Which again, is FINE. But the media and their PR should really back off a bit with regards to their ‘Will and Kate are soooo in love’ propaganda.
Kate adores him, he loves her but she loves him more. So he sets the pace of the relationship. There are also some cute harry Kate pictures, one with a stuffed animal.
Duchess Dolittle of Sausage Curls! I saw pictures of her entering the event in yet another pair of inappropriately tight jeggings and as mentioned, those god awful Cankle wedges.
The Katers are even worse than the anti-Brangies. Cankles, seriously? So lame.

I checked out the pictures on Lainey’s site, and from what I could see it wasn’t WILLIAM she was giving all those looks to, it was to the man on Will’s right. She is leaning froward a bit & NOT looking at Wills. The REAL chemistry happens when she & Harry (so friggin cute!) interact~Hmmm.

The rest of the royals (not just England) in the Olympics, bar Princess Anne, don’t deserve to be there. The athletes got there because of their hard work, passion, and dedication.
The royals got there because they were born/married into the right family. To see them being photographed more than the actual athletes, and being praised just for attending an event, is sickening.
Granted, the Windsors were there to cheer Zara on, so good for them and for Zara.
But do we really need 100s of photos of Kate? And no, don’t tell me that she’s Kate and she’ll always attract the media, because I know that. I’m questioning that very thing.
Zara should have been the focus of the event, as well as her proud Mum, but instead we get Kate’s hyena smiles and Mufasa hair for the majority of the photos, and 5 photos of Zara.
The Olympian was the afterthought. Blech.

Zara is my favorite non-royal royal and I am peeved on her behalf. And on my own, because I really like to read about her and her actual achievements.
Eighty gazillion pictures of the royal triumvirate of HarryKateWills – all spectating on their butts – and so few of the one who did all the competing! Sheesh.
I think the affection between Kate and Willie is a bit calculated, frankly. I don’t think they dislike each other, not at all, but at the same time I don’t for one second believe they ever forget the cameras.

@ Californialady1939: You’re thinking of Diana’s lover, James Hewitt, who became her lover AFTER Harry was born. Harry looks very much like Diana’s father in both baby and young adult photos, and is looking more and more like his father Charles every day.
I love the 3rd picture where she is looking right at his eyes. Such a relaxed look of affection.
Kate gladly reciprocates affection when her husband actually pays attention to her. William seems very happy and relaxed rooting for his cousin. And since his mood seems to dictate his wife’s, the mood between both is joyful here.
I know she’s in a tough position, having married into the royal family and being kept on a tight leash (but hell, that is what she wanted). And I know anyone who loves his or her significant other only wants to be loved back. There’s absolutely no blame in that. But Kate still strikes me as a woman who wouldn’t be able to hold her own without a man under any circumstances. Whether or not he happens to be of royal blood. She also seems like someone who needs to be constantly validated–for superficial things like her looks, clothing style, etc. She’s never struck me as intelligent or articulate. Or really even all that mature.
But she’s also never struck me as being shy, as some people might argue. Uh uh, nope. She LOVES the cameras. She seems to crave attention. I think she’s aware that she’s being photographed and observed EVERY single time she’s out and about. In live video footage, she can often be noticed stealing glances wherever she is to check and see where the cameras are and whether they’re focusing on her. And she gauges her behavior accordingly. She’s certainly not stupid in that sense. She’s probably a little less “on” in these photographs because William is engaging with her more (though I do think that she’s still putting on a bit of show in some of the pics). She doesn’t need to overcompensate for his lack of attention by putting on her usual “YAY, I’m so extremely happy and shiny, and find everything to be so humorous” act in public.
On an unrelated note, her eye/eyebrow area looks tighter and slightly more upwardly stretched here. Maybe it’s the lighting or maybe she had recently gotten her brows done or something. I just hope she isn’t going crazy with the Botox.
And yes, William needs to invest in a different pair of sunglasses!
@ S. I agree with you in many points. Kate LOVEs the cameras. She is not SHY as Diana was once. Thats why Kate always show that maniac smile (showing all her teeth) for cameras and its the kind of smile that you can see is a fake one. As recently everybody got the vibe that something was off between Will and her, so you can see by the pics that she had to put that act like she is on the top of the world and everything is pink and cheerful in her life.
I noticed that in these Olympic games the pictures of them smiling in the crowd, in many pictures they dont smile at each other , its more like they smile while interacting with others (ie: Harry is always there like a 3rd wheel in the relationship…The one that makes the jokes) and the media only publish the pics of W&K so it seems its Kate and Will laughing “together”.
For example, pic #3 in this article it seems like Will is looking at Harry or something and Kate is smiling (her trademark smirk smile) and looking at something past Will.. and he is not even smiling.
In the last pic, Kate is smiling (again an overacted smile like trying to show everybody how “happy” she is) directly to Peter who is sitting next to Will while Will is looking at something else. Probably the palace told Prince William to look more happy in these events as rumours were getting out of control and thats why Harry is there doing his job entertaining the royal couple Lol.
