@ S. I agree with you in many points. Kate LOVEs the cameras. She is not SHY as Diana was once. Thats why Kate always show that maniac smile (showing all her teeth) for cameras and its the kind of smile that you can see is a fake one. As recently everybody got the vibe that something was off between Will and her, so you can see by the pics that she had to put that act like she is on the top of the world and everything is pink and cheerful in her life.
I noticed that in these Olympic games the pictures of them smiling in the crowd, in many pictures they dont smile at each other , its more like they smile while interacting with others (ie: Harry is always there like a 3rd wheel in the relationship…The one that makes the jokes) and the media only publish the pics of W&K so it seems its Kate and Will laughing “together”.
For example, pic #3 in this article it seems like Will is looking at Harry or something and Kate is smiling (her trademark smirk smile) and looking at something past Will.. and he is not even smiling.
In the last pic, Kate is smiling (again an overacted smile like trying to show everybody how “happy” she is) directly to Peter who is sitting next to Will while Will is looking at something else. Probably the palace told Prince William to look more happy in these events as rumours were getting out of control and thats why Harry is there doing his job entertaining the royal couple Lol.

Waity wasn’t at the rowing – it was just wills and Harry. Who looked v bored & only perked up when the cameras were on them (I was sitting quite close by).

Kate gladly reciprocates affection when her husband actually pays attention to her. William seems very happy and relaxed rooting for his cousin. And since his mood seems to dictate his wife’s, the mood between both is joyful here.

I know she’s in a tough position, having married into the royal family and being kept on a tight leash (but hell, that is what she wanted). And I know anyone who loves his or her significant other only wants to be loved back. There’s absolutely no blame in that. But Kate still strikes me as a woman who wouldn’t be able to hold her own without a man under any circumstances. Whether or not he happens to be of royal blood. She also seems like someone who needs to be constantly validated–for superficial things like her looks, clothing style, etc. She’s never struck me as intelligent or articulate. Or really even all that mature.

But she’s also never struck me as being shy, as some people might argue. Uh uh, nope. She LOVES the cameras. She seems to crave attention. I think she’s aware that she’s being photographed and observed EVERY single time she’s out and about. In live video footage, she can often be noticed stealing glances wherever she is to check and see where the cameras are and whether they’re focusing on her. And she gauges her behavior accordingly. She’s certainly not stupid in that sense. She’s probably a little less “on” in these photographs because William is engaging with her more (though I do think that she’s still putting on a bit of show in some of the pics). She doesn’t need to overcompensate for his lack of attention by putting on her usual “YAY, I’m so extremely happy and shiny, and find everything to be so humorous” act in public.

On an unrelated note, her eye/eyebrow area looks tighter and slightly more upwardly stretched here. Maybe it’s the lighting or maybe she had recently gotten her brows done or something. I just hope she isn’t going crazy with the Botox.

And yes, William needs to invest in a different pair of sunglasses!

Zara is my favorite non-royal royal and I am peeved on her behalf. And on my own, because I really like to read about her and her actual achievements.

Eighty gazillion pictures of the royal triumvirate of HarryKateWills – all spectating on their butts – and so few of the one who did all the competing! Sheesh.

I think the affection between Kate and Willie is a bit calculated, frankly. I don’t think they dislike each other, not at all, but at the same time I don’t for one second believe they ever forget the cameras.

@ Californialady1939: You’re thinking of Diana’s lover, James Hewitt, who became her lover AFTER Harry was born. Harry looks very much like Diana’s father in both baby and young adult photos, and is looking more and more like his father Charles every day.
