Robert Pattinson seems “happy, friendly, relaxed” during his promotional tour

If anyone is keeping score, it took less than 24 hours for me to go FULL TWIHARD on Robert Pattinson’s publicity tour for Cosmopolis. In the past, I’ve had moments where I really enjoyed Rob. He’s almost always a good interview, he’s funny and he usually comes across as a sweet guy. But something about The New Rob… it’s turning me into a squealing Twihard. I really did do a little “squee!” at these photos of Rob yesterday in NYC. He was just walking from his hotel to the car. He wore a simple white t-shirt, dark jeans, with a hint of boxer shorts sticking out from behind. And he’s just perfect!!! OMG. Is that what Twihardom feels like?

Anyway, I’m sure this will be one of many Twihard-y posts about Rob today, so let’s just get to some of the stories circulating about him. It seems that at the Cosmopolis afterparty on Monday night, Rob was in a halfway decent mood:

Robert Pattinson turned his frown upside down! After a charming appearance on The Daily Show and a red carpet walk at MOMA, the 26-year-old didn’t shrink into the corner for the Cosmopolis premiere afterparty at The Dream Downtown hotel in NYC’s Meatpacking district.

Following a private dinner at the hotel’s Library, the Gucci-clad actor — making his first public appearance since news of girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s affair broke — “looked happy,” one observer tells Us Weekly.

“He was friendly and spoke to everyone that said hello.” One topic that never came up? “There was no talk of Kristen,” the observer says. “He was smiling and laughing a lot.”

Arriving at PH-D (the penthouse at the Dream Downtown) around 10:30 p.m., the star and his pals (including Cosmopolis costars Stanley Tucci, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand and Sarah Gadon) parked themselves at a banquette near the DJ booth — surrounded by six bodyguards. Pattinson drank bottles of Budweiser as he chatted with other revelers — and, with the doors opened to the outside terraces, he puffed on an electronic cigarette.

Leaving PH-D past midnight, the star and his group just moved the party downstairs — to the Electric Room, a bar in Dream Downtown’s basement — for a few more drinks. The fun, chill evening was about “celebrating with his friends and costars,” a source explains to Us. Guests were treated to an open bar care of Ciroc vodka.

“It’s really too bad that there was a cloud over his big night. He knows that everyone wanted to ask and bring it up,” adds the source of Pattinson and Stewart’s troubled romance. “He’s ready for life after Twilight now — now more than ever.”

[From Us Weekly]

People Magazine had many of the same details, but People’s unnamed source said, “He was very charismatic, all smiles, looking very relaxed and hugging all who stopped by to say . The general crowd gravitated towards his table, but he was shielded by security. He was surrounded by women and the movie’s cast. The whole room was watching him, and he looked genuinely at ease and comfortable the whole time.” Apparently, Paul Giamatti, was “looking over at Rob, and looked like he felt sorry for him.” OMG. Paul Giamatti is all Twihardy and horny too. JUST LIKE ME.

Other stories… Variety reports that Rob is signing on to Werner Herzog’s new film called Queen of the Desert. My gut reaction was “DRAG QUEENS!!” because I thought it was some kind of remake of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. But it’s actually about the desert, and the relationship between Gertrude Bell and T.E. Lawrence. Bell would be played by Naomi Watts, and Pattinson has been cast as T.E. Lawrence, also known as “Lawrence of Arabia”. I could actually see that. You know who would have made an outstanding T.E. Lawrence? Benedict Cumberbatch. I’m just sayin’. I’m not hatin’. Anyway, this new role is part of Rob’s new strategy to get as far away from sparkly vampires as he can get. He’s also doing a military role with Mission: Blacklist, and several mysteries/action/drama films.

Meanwhile, Radar claims that Kristen Stewart is relieved and “filled with regret” after watching Rob’s interview with Jon Stewart. A source claims, “Just like his devout fans, Kristen tuned into Robert’s interview with Jon Stewart with drawn breath. But after seeing him deflect the questions about her, Kristen’s anxiety soon disappeared and instead she was filled with regret. While she was obviously relieved that Robert didn’t trash her, the realization that their relationship was finally over hit her hard. Kristen was praying that after the dust settled she would get another chance and she was clinging on to that hope.” Now she wants to see Rob in person and work on having a friendship with him. A friendship that would involve him publicly forgiving her, I’m assuming.

And what have you expected? Tears and screams in public?

  2. Anna says:

The Trampire wants him to forgive her so she can have her career back. She’s always been calculating and her publicist is leaking these “pity me” stories.

She truly enjoys playing the victim and her idiot fans blame everyone for her scandal but her.

    • carlie says:

oh sweet jesus. I’m just imagining her twirling a handlebar mustache as she plots her next evil move. lol I dno’t know what it is about kristen and robert that bring out the fanfiction in fans but it’s poetic….

    • deehunny says:

KStew cheating on him so publicly is the best thing that could have happened for his career. Hurts now, but he will be reaping the benefits for years to come.

  3. Launicaangelina says:

He was definitely hot, composed and charming during The Daily Show interview. I enjoyed hearing him speak with his real accent, too. He is definitely handling himself like a champ in the cheating scandal aftermath!

    • bluhare says:

I agree. I never knew why people got so fired up about him, but his interview with Jon Stewart was great. Admitting he’s too cheap to hire a publicist and now he’s paying for it! Pure gold.

  4. gee says:

He better not take her back! He’s so much sexier without her.

  5. Birdie says:

I love how you brought Cumberbatch’s name in this story. I love this story now so much more. Benedict… what were we talking about?

    • Genevieve says:

      @ Birdie…

HaHA, I see you picked up on the TRUE focal point of this story, as did I 😉

Benedict WOULD make a completely YUMMY Lawrence, wouldn’t he?

      Great suggestion, CB…more Cumberbatch, PLEASE!

      • Birdie says:

Yes, he would be a fantastic Lawrence. Nice to see a Cumberbabe noticing the true point, too and YES: MORE Cumberbatch, please.

  6. carlie says:

And Rob didn’t come out of hiding to look like a huge wuss, he came out to look like he’s moved on and is post-twilight and doing big boy parts like Cosmopolis. Whatever’s going on with him, I’m sure he’s okay. How could he not be with that awesome hair?

  7. Vee says:

He continues to be himself during this “unofficial Rob Pattinson week” in NYC. And he is awesome through and through!

For those just joining us in the appreciation of this talented, humorous, intelligent and kind guy- welcome!

  8. jill says:

No matter what Kristen did, It still won’t help this guy’s wooden acting.

  9. Len says:

I never payed attention to this guy untill the scandal, and then yesterday..that blue suit..suddenly I’ve become obsessed!

  10. marie says:

Wonder if he’d be offended if I walked up to him and said “twihards don’t shake hands, twihards gotta hug” think I’d get a hug? I’d be willing to try, ha ha kidding.

And of course Kristen regrets getting caught and dumped, cheaters normally do. He looks better without her, now he needs a hot rebound..

    • another nina says:

I bet, if you show him 8 tickets to cosmopolis, you might get as well his golden locks…

      • marie says:

ha ha, I don’t like him that much.

      • ORLY says:

Nina- Are you still traveling all over the place?

Rob looks delicious. I think it’s because he got rid the of 110 lbs of misery.

      • another nina says:

Oh Orly, I’m still in the middle of the nowhere ;(
Yup, Rob looks good. I thought he lost it after all that horror last winter…I could never understand why pretty people love putting an effort into looking ugly…And hah, yup, he is a walking demo that 110 lbs of misery and pretentiousness is never good for your health…

      • Jane says:

        What horror last winter?

  11. Emyv says:

He is looking better then ever. I think I’m also turning into a Twihard <3

  12. Aussie girl says:

He truly is a Phoenix rising out of the ashes. He is a man now & his credibility has just sky rocketed with me. This boy is now a hot man. Wow & wow. I feel like a 16 year old gushing over him but what the hey, he deserves it.

    • Izzy says:

Right??! Suddenly I’m a fan of Rob’s, though I still refuse to see a Twilight movie or read one of the books. Does this make me Sparkle-licious instead of Twihard-y?

However, I did see the spoof, Vampires Suck. Hilarious!

    • Hanna says:

Right? Trampire had him looking all miserable and shit.

  13. another nina says:

Rob is cool, and is a pleasure to listen to. I wish he had some monthly TV segment, I don’t care what he talks about, he is usually interesting regardless. His acting, on the other side…Hmmmm, I really hope he is working with an acting coach. Dude, you saved money on PR, and rightfully so. Now it’s time to splurge!

Yup, CumberB. would have been perfect.

    • ORLY says:

He could use some coaching, but having seen Cosmopolis (twice. don’t ask) I can say he did a decent job.

      • another nina says:

Hurrah! Thank you dear Orly! I was seriously contemplating buying ticket and not going –to avoid embarrassment – you know pattz is my soft spot…

    • Crystal says:

      nina !!!
It’s been too long bb, how’ve you been ???
      I’ve miseed you.

      • another nina says:

bb, hon, how are you, my darling!

      • ORLY says:

Crystal!!! I haven’t had much time and Nina has been away, but I see you’ve been represent’n. HA.

      • Crystal says:

@nina: I’m good honey. I know you’re working hard. Get that money bb !!!

@ORLY: LOL. I have to hold it down on here since you and nina decided to go and get lives and leave me !!! I’ve been working from home and I have too much time on my hands tbh.
Hope you’re having a good summer. Did you go anywhere nice ??

  14. lola says:

I don’t really get why people are acting like he grew a pair overnight. He’s always been a good looking, affable guy who never took himself too seriously.

maybe some of you folks are just late to the show or something. lol

    • Diana says:

THIS! even so, like I said in another post, I’m really enjoying the Rob-love-fest. 🙂

  15. Len says:

Did anyone see Remember me? It was on tv here the other day and the ending…i’m still shocked

  16. chloe says:

Just saw him on GMA and he handled himself pretty well even when they tried to get him to talk about Kristen, I think these interviewers need to realize he’s not going to talk about it and he’s there to talk about a movie.

  17. pretty says:

Good Morning America Interview was not good..
    The interviewer sucked hard!!
I’m not an American so i don’t know who that ingerviewer was but he was so not funny and the way he said “elephant” literally was not smooth at all!!
Rob was not comfortable with that idiot interviewer!
    I loved loved Jon Stewart.
why that idiot interviewer couldn’t do it like Jon?? -__- !!

    • Elizabeth says:

The interviewer was George Stephonopolous. He is supposedly a serious political journalist so it was weird that he was doing a celeb interview.

  18. serena says:

Like hell, Kristen just need to gtfo of Rob’s view. No friendship -it would be strange too-

  19. Cookie says:

He looks kind of upset and tired. Kristen Stewart is a major idiot. She probably smoked so much weed with her director friend that they were too stoned to realize what they were doing.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Yeah I was gonna say..looks pretty broody (like Edward ha!) in these pics. Maybe he’s just hungover and/or exhausted? He is being put through the ringer this week. Regardless, looked fairly happy in the Jon interview.

  20. Mirella says:

The GMA interview was a little rough. George isn’t the best entertainment reporter, he’s so much better with the political stuff. I wonder if they went with him because Lara would’ve been too pushy. In any case, Rob looked great & answered the best he could. Funny & charming as alwways.

  21. keats says:

You know, he still does nothing for me lookswise, but having finally seen him in an interview, I get it. The guys got boatloads of charm. I…kind of want him to be my boyfriend.

  22. Jennifer12 says:

Rob is going to be just fine; it’s interesting to see that the assumption is that he and KS are over. I wonder if that’s really the case. Just saying.

  23. jess says:

I don’t get his appeal. Hr seems nice but blah.

  24. Crystal says:

Now that K-Stew is off his d*ck he finally has time to shower.

Has he been working out? He looks like he’s lost weight. UNF. He’s so hot.

I love him, I love him. I’m not sorry.

  25. v says:

The more time passes the more I feel something’s off with the whole thing.Dunno…this feels too choreographed. He seems cool though,he should focus on his acting now… 😛

  26. Dumaurier says:

This must be absolutely maddening for him, now everyone wants a piece of him. I don’t think he was ever comfortable with his sex symbol status now it’s been amped up x100. I truly wish everyone would let him be, this can not be good for his overall well being.

ETA- It also bothers me that everyone was writing him off just a few months ago, casting him as Sparkles and nothing more..it just seems disingenuous now to act like he’s something more

  27. Adrien says:

Queen of the Dessert – Gertrude Bell? Yet another film with costumes. Rob should stay away from period films if he wants to remove that Twilight stink. He should do supporting roles on a comedy film or a Wes Anderson movie. Rob is a likable guy but no one sees that coz he chose to play emo or angsty roles on movies.

  28. Beck says:

Did anyone read the story on Gawker about his supposed cheating ways (some speculated that it from Stewart’s camp)?

    • Adeli says:

It’s the psycho ravings of a deranged Kristen fan. That person has been posting that list on various sites for years and is a known threat to Rob’s security team. If you are actually genuinely unaware of this and you’re not just trying to stir by bringing it up here, I advise you not to waste your time on that tripe.

    • Ann says:

It’s not from Stewart’s camp. It’s from an internet troll/Pattinson stalker. She’s been at this for years, on every website that allows unmonitored comments. Half of those rumors she made up herself, then she posts on every site imaginable. She sends to HollywoodLife and other bogus sites, who then go ahead and write stories based on her drivel. Complete whackjob.

      • yuya says:

Is she the same cray cray Angelina stalker that shows up on Jezebel and here every so often? I rememver her having a creepy obsession with this couple too.

  29. Sam says:

OK Kaiser i have a total twihardon for him now! Was never a fan before, only saw the first movie and it made me laugh when it wasn’t supposed to. But he has been so professional and looked so amazing through this that i am now a fan. mmmmmm yummy!

  30. kate says:

I don’t get the comments that Rob is all mature, because this guy for years has been giving interviews that always self Self-deprecating now all of a sudden he doesn’t want to talk about his feeling.
Sorry folks people don’t change that fast. Yes he has a PR and they are working overtime.

    • Adeli says:

Huh? What does “self decating” mean?
Rob has never spoken about his private life ever. FACT.
Rob does not have a PR team. FACT.

The Rob I’ve seen over the past 2 days is the same self-deprecating, charming Rob I’ve seen in tons of interviews. The only thing that’s changed is that he appears to be anxious and embarrassed at having to field questions about the cheating scandal. And yet, he’s still out there promoting his movie like a BOSS.

You need to get your facts straight and maybe use words that actually exist.

  31. Anguishedcorn says:

I just enjoyed the juxtaposition of the title of this post and the picture you chose. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

  32. kate says:

The only way to cover a scandal is to create a bigger scandal. Like it or not Stewart has the dirt on him. and that why he is playing the I not taking about my personal life card.

  33. geekychick says:

I think Radar Online is full of BS, I trust Lainey in her judgement: all this KStew stuff is made up.
And Kaiser, please don’t go full Twihard, I love this site because you were so cool about Pattinson!

  34. DANDILION says:

He’s got a rich and happy life and interesting career ahead of him.. many women to kiss and make love to.. doesn’t he?

  35. kate says:

Didn’t Rob say that he was allergic to vagina. Maybe that why Stewart was desparte to get away from the sexless showance.

  36. original almond says:

FFS, people are acting like this scandal has made him this awesome, incredible person who’s bursting with talent and noblesse-oblige. Give me a f*cking brake. He’s still a one note actor with great interview-side manners and an odd face. He’s as talented as Lipbite McLewd. The significant difference is that he knows how to poke fun at himself and how not to appear like a giant douchebag.

    • Jane says:

Jealous, are we? And the word is break.

      • original almond says:

Yes, it is obvious I am seething with jealousy and repressed desires. You have figured me out.

    • Janet says:

I disagree with your assessment of Pattinson’s acting skills; I think he’s a fairly decent actor, not great, but reasonably good; but I almost fell out of my chair laughing at “Lipbite McLewd”. Can I steal that? (I’m stealing it anyway.)

      • original almond says:

I have no copyright on it, so all’s good.
As for Pattinson, perhaps I should have mentioned that, unlike Lipbite’s case, I still have some hope of being proved wrong regarding his talent. I guess I’ll have to see Cosmopolis and see where that leaves me.

But it chafes me so hard that he’s going to play a role Peter O’toole absolutely owned. I do not think that at the moment he is capable of pulling it off. But if I’m proven wrong, I’ll actually be happy for the guy.

  37. Jane says:

What a true champion. This man is sizzling. Sex on long legs.

  38. Kosmos says:

In many of the publicity shots I saw of Kristen and Rob, it always seemed like he was making an effort to make HER comfortable, not ever the other way around. I often saw shots of him looking at her, but she was never looking at him, almost never. I often wondered if she took him for granted, maybe didn’t even love him, I didn’t really know. Her pics, her on-air interviews & her written interviews all make her appear a bit immature and self-absorbed, but I never got that feeling from Rob. He has always appeared to be more mature and professional. I think its a good thing this happened so that he can have the chance to move on to someone more deserving of his attention. Kristen just needs to do some soul searching and growing up.

  39. void says:

He has class and he has poise. I’m loving seeing Kaiser get all Twihard, I’m turning into one too now. Amazing, what if this helps the franchise by somehow influencing all of us who couldn’t care less before to want to go see the new one, simply because we are so proud and enamored of Rob? Brilliant. It’s like suddenly I’ll do anything for him, he’s such a class act. I swear all of this is just going to guarantee the longevity of his cult following.

  40. hairball says:

Can you imagine having people taking your picture all the time – like regular people on the street with their cells?? I couldn’t take it.
