Jennifer Lopez in a blue tube dress in Las Vegas: totally ’80s or totally fug?

I still don’t have a hate-on for Jennifer Lopez’s white booty shorts and crop-top. It WAS a dated outfit, for sure, but… I still think it looked okay on her. But this outfit? This outfit sucks. These are photos from J.Lo’s “post-party” at Pure nightclub at Caesars in Las Vegas, also on Saturday night. The white booty-shorts outfit was from her pre-party, I guess.

First thing – something nice: I think Jennifer’s body looks GREAT. Is it just me or does she look especially toned and fit? And I do think the idea of this tube dress is fine – it shows off her bangin’ body, and that’s fine. I just take issue with the color and the weird “skid mark” feature on the back. That’s just… I don’t know, dated? The tube dress combined with the teased hair and the heavy makeup is just rough to me. She looks super ‘80s. Totally ‘80s.

Meanwhile, Benny Medina has just confirmed that Jennifer is getting into the whole “3D Concert Movie” game. J.Lo’s concert movie will be called Dance Again, and Medina told Extra that “the film will chronicle the last few years in Jennifer’s life as she faced big changes. Her instinct is to get right back up, go on the road and ‘dance again’.” Yeah… combined with Jennifer’s woe-is-me interview in InStyle, it really feels like she’s trying to get some additional mileage out of her divorce. Most people were on Jennifer’s side in the first place, but it’s not like anyone really felt like she was a “wronged woman” deserving of an outpouring of sympathy, you know? Basically, I feel like J.Lo is trying to re-brand herself as a sympathetic figure now because she’s received so much criticism because of the Casper Smart stuff.

    Big 80’s…especially the hair.

    • Miss Piggy says:

The color is gorgeous. Looks like it was designed by Swatch. Remember when they did a line of clothes? I had a minidress by them that I wore into the ground.

      • Ramona Q says:

Yes, the blue color is pretty. The bottom hem is lumpy, the white cross-walk pattern is strange and severe, and the chest isn’t flattering. But the color – it’s great.

  2. the original bellaluna says:

Umm, a LOT of the 80’s was fug. Not as fug as say, the late 60’s and 70’s. But DEF fug.

80’s hair is only the look if it’s Halloween or you’re a televangelist. There is no grey area.

    • brin says:

      Mornin bella!

    • Erinn says:

This woman’s hair always looks a mess. She either has it slicked so tightly back against her scalp, or apparently we jump into the kind of hair style all the little girls with long hair had in my grade school in the 90s.

She needs a (new?) stylist desperately.

    • marie says:

you mean to tell me my hair’s outta style? just because I can pull on my bangs and the rest of my hair comes with it means nothing.. ha, kidding so glad I no longer have to buy Auqa Net..

And when I saw her dress, Debbie Gibson’s “Electric Youth” popped in my head, no idea why..

      • the original bellaluna says:

marie, did you have the Wall of Bangs? 😉

      • Micah says:

        “Wall of Bangs”! Excellent!

But I have to admit, to create the perfect ” W.O.B.” required both skill and technique. Much like the “Farrah Feather” from the 70’s.

I also love the “volumized sides” where the effect was like a Cobra from the front,….very Crystal Carrington.
        lol.

      • marie says:

@bella.. oh yes I did. If an open flame had got near me “POOF” my hair would have been gone..

    • Liberty says:

@ bellaluna — hahahaha awesome!! So true!!!

Side note: the, er, back muffin? To be expected, or, a fail?

      • the original bellaluna says:

🙂 Back muffin – to be expected, I think. Maybe the half-up/half-down hair was an attempt to conceal it?

      • looseal says:

In order to stay up the dress has to be tight…muffin back is the result. That lady doesn’t have much fat or loose skin on her. She is toned and sexy hot.

      • skuddles says:

I noticed the back muffin too and couldn’t help but be comforted… doesn’t matter how hard you work out and watch your diet, the back fat starts to creep in at some point. It’s an age thing. But, minor flab aside, her bod is looking pretty damn fab.

    • Veruca says:

      @bella —

I was going to say, “Totally 80s or totally fug” — is there a difference?

      😀

      Morning All!

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Only if you are at an 80’s party.

Though strangely when dressed comically for an 80’s party, I had to stop at the store on the way and got so many compliments.

Canada, that’s on you:) Toronto likes the 80s!

    • OriginalTiffany says:

It’s the makeup! Argh! So much heavy white and black.
This looks like pictures from my 80’s party.

Her figure looks great, oops, saw the back muffin-eek, but her stylist, hair and makeup peeps should be killed! Early morning for you, Bella!

      Toddles attack?

I know I promised not to bitch, but today is day one with no painkillers. Grrrr. No likey. Mucho advil and antibiotics for breakfast. Mostly it’s the soft diet. I want food, damned husband cooking bacon for everyone but meeee! Freaking mashed potatoes-he offered to mash pork loin for me last night, really?

      • Veruca says:

        @OTiff —

Ok, I know your hubs is a nice dude, but making bacon when you can’t have any? That’s just Evil!!

I was late in the game last week, but sent you good tidings. I do the same today. Hope you feel better very soon (and can then eat the bacon, too).

Oh, and pork loin is NOT the same…

      • the original bellaluna says:

GAH, no painkillers?!? Tiff, that’s awful. And Advil & antibiotics on a nearly empty stomach is hard on that stomach.

Hubs, not Toddles. He’s got a summer cold (or something) and he keeps trying to breathe through his nose (while asleep) and he can’t.

My hair’s bone straight, and I still have to be careful with the half-up/half-down. (I tend to look very Jersey Shore. Minus the orange.)

      • Abby says:

I recently spent 6 weeks with my jaw wired shut. I swore I’d never put meat in a blender, but after a month or so I broked down.

Blended turnkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn was REALLY good.

Pizza blended with extra pizza sauce tasted like pizza flavored tomato soup and was also really good.

      • Mooshi says:

        to OriginalTiffany and Abby

I hope you both feel better. I’m going through the same thing of not being able to eat solids too.

I have a clogged & infected salivary gland and my neck looks like a golf ball is in it. My jaw is KILLING me.

Lucky me ….I had to see a doctor that doesn’t believe in painkillers.

Back on topic…….Ahhhh the 80’s. I used to wear dresses like that out to clubs. Fun times.

Now back to silently cussing out my doctor.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Thanks guys! Thoughts go out to Abbey and Mooshi too! I feel you. I used to do salivary tests for blocks glands. Super painful! Dr. should def be cussed out.

Got walked all around the Air and Space museum leading to throbbing pain and a call to surgeon. Pain killers on their way, but I have to go in again if it keeps up. Though with the vicodin, it shouldn’t keep up:)

My hair was always bone straight, but the humidity here fluffs it up the first day after I shampoo. I get Jersey shore look too if I’m not careful, just so much hair. If I go big, I try for the “Adele”, I like a good bouffant:) One is a while-mostly it is in a ponytail.

Love the WOB, lol. We called it the Phoenix swoop, because they had that DOWN out there in the desert. Aquanet by the gallon and dippity doo gel.
Poor us! FIrst, the huge feathers in grade and middle school(remember carrying your comb everywhere so you could always reflip your feathers?), then the asymmetric or WOB in the 80’s, big spiral perms of the 90s! You young ladies have it SO good now!

JLo is a hot mess from the muffin up.

      • Mooshi says:

        OriginalTiffany

Between all the aquanet being sprayed in the highschool bathroom and the lighters we used to melt our eyeliner its a wonder we are all still alive!

        (chuckles)

      • skuddles says:

You bitch away Tiff, pain totally sucks. I’d blame it on the dead guy 🙂

  3. Eleonor says:

Makeup and hair totally wrong, the dress is fine.

  4. phoenix says:

I like the dress but not the hair.

    • OriginalTiffany says:

I hate the hair too and this is why I have to be careful not to do the half up thing with height. I have long, wavy hair and it would look the same if I styled it this way.
It is it’s own entity. I suspect she did it to make her hair look extra long, at least mine’s real.

Do any celebs have their own hair with no extensions anymore?

      • deehunny says:

        @Phoneix & OT:

I too like the dress. I usually like the dresses she wears. I don’t mind the hair, but the makeup is way to severe.

I was thinking the same thing earlier today when I was reading a post about The Cracken– all these women need to stop with the extensions– enough already. Sometimes they look really really bad and you can totally tell where their real hair ends

  5. Nev says:

    lovely.

  6. Tastykakes says:

Well. I like the colour. And the cut of the dress is flattering, save for the tiny smidgen of back fat overhanging. Her skin looks good. Not sure about anything else going on there.

  7. Nanea says:

I like the front part of the dress, could do without hair and shoes. And the hemline looks strange to me.

  8. Len says:

I think she looks really great! Love the dress, the hair, the make-up. She’s a risk-taker and I like that about her.

  9. Krock says:

    Love it from the front.

  10. Cazzee says:

Could that be called back boob? There’s quite a bit of it…

  11. CreamSoda says:

With her hair like that, in the pic from the back she reminds me of Charo.

Don’t know if that’s good or bad, but the few times I’ve seen Charo on television in the past few years she still has the same style as I remember her having back in the 80s.

    “Cuchi-cuchi” people!

  12. shontay says:

Totally 80s and I totally love it. Fab from head to toe. Finally, her ass isn’t hanging out and it’s a good look for her. It’s youthful, sexy but not embarrassing. Great body, too except her chicken legs always bother me.

  13. sillyone says:

That was my first thought, back boob..Couldn’t the dress be pulled up a little in the back so that doesn’t happen?

  14. G says:

it’s the hair and make-up from another century that’s gone wrong here.

  15. rose says:

she looks great! love the fit and color of the dress. big hair sometimes is fun…her body is unbelievably fit and her skin is radiant. maybe there is something to this relationship with Mr. Smart…they say that the wrong guy can suck all the pretty out of a woman but that has certainly not been the case with her!

  16. Maritza says:

I predict everything 80’s will come back on style, big hair included. She looks fabulous!

  17. HadleyB says:

I actually like the blue dress and she looks good BUT she was wearing a white short outfit the same day and has a totally different body shape, her face is fuller in those pics so I am going with these are really photoshopped?

When you see them side by side its like 2 different Jennifers, a before and after – by 15 pounds.

  18. I.want.shoes says:

I like the dress but what is going on with the hem? It’s like she didn’t have time to have it tailored so she just decided to use double-sided tape to fix it. And by “fix” it, I mean ruin it.

  19. Bailey says:

Love the color, hate the dress, love the hair.

  20. RHONYC says:

    that dress is awesome…

for my EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD daughter. lol

    womp. 😉

  21. Rux says:

I think the dress is flattering on her but as you stated, the skidmark things on the back and front take away from it. Her body IS banging and she looks amazing however that make up and hair TOTALLY SUCKS! I liked her better when she did the neutral/natural look. She is too beautiful to cover that up with so much car paint. Lastly, the relationship with Casper still skeeves me out. I miss the original Bennifer!

  22. Hanna says:

    Get off the stage, hag.

  23. Ed Varilo says:

If Jlo gets any fatter is not going to fit in any toilet, car, or even in a door way, As we all predicted, once Jlo was fired from Idol and her career gone, she would return back as being the queen of the tabloids, filled with files and drama.

    • The Truth says:

      Haha career gone, you wish

Currently on a sucessfil world tour, has been in 2 sucessful films, was named the bestselling celebrity fragrance seller, named Forbes Most powerful celebrity, bestselling clothing line at Kohls, achieved her 13th number 1 on the Dance chart with Goin in, Dance Agin at 1.4 million world wide, has just signed to Creative Artists Agency, has new film Parker out next year, raelly I could go but , oh well

Know what you are talking about

      and btw she looks good

  24. Reece says:

I would say 80’s if she had the Aqua Net bangs otherwise just meh hair. I like the dress though.

  25. bagladey says:

I’m not hating the dress, stripes and all, but I’m LUUUVing the colour. Dress too tight in top back, squeezing the hell out of her back.

  26. yolo says:

IMO – she is the #1 celeb that is constantly getting cramped in our faces (tight race for 1st between her and JA). I have been SO over her since she began. I have to laugh out loud when people talk about her “dancing”. She’s overrated.

  27. Bee says:

So nobody saw that back fat spillage in the third pic? I agree she has an amazing body, but the hair, dress, makeup combo is a no.

  28. idk says:

I really like the dress…perhaps a different hairdo would have been better though.

  29. Emma says:

I never liked her and still don’t, but I would love to know what this woman’s secret is for looking so fab. Of course she has all the money to do everything, but she looks so natural. Her skin is amazing and you can tell she works her butt off to stay so fit, which you have to at her age.

  30. Onyx XV says:

She is beautiful but the dress is both 80s and fug – those two terms being synonymous, of course!

  31. Sarah says:

I love the whole thing. She looks great!

  32. Tania says... says:

Ugh! Hate the hair, hate the make-up!

  33. bgirl says:

If only she would wear the correct size, she would look flawless. Her body has been improving while on tour naturally. Why oh why do people insist on wearing too small clothes???

  34. Happy21 says:

I’m not a big fan of JLo but I think she looks gorgeous here! This is the best I’ve seen her look in a long time.

  35. KellyinSeattle says:

For some reason, it looks like to me that she’s attending a Transformers premiere

  36. mk says:

wowzers! I think she looks great
