Bradley Cooper brings his rescue pup to interview: does this make you like him more?

We’re not really fans of Bradley Cooper around here. Kaiser and I have reached the consensus that he’s a talented, solid character actor, but there’s something lacking that would make him lead material. It’s like it’s hard to get a read on the guy. He’s not the sexiest alive, and he’s far from the most interesting. So I’m kind of warming up to him now that I learn that he takes in rescue dogs. Honestly I don’t consider myself a dog person since I don’t have one, but I really like that he adores his dog. Cooper brought his dog, Charlotte, a chow/retriever mix, to “Live with Kelly” and explained that he found her at a rescue dog event for Much Love Animal Rescue. (There’s video on People.com on this link.) He also said that Charlotte doesn’t have any bottom teeth. I believe that Charlotte is Cooper’s only dog at this point. People did a photo profile of Cooper and his dogs last fall, and they mentioned that he used to have another rescue dog named Samson, saved from euthanasia at a shelter, who passed away in 2010 at the age of 13. Cooper loved Samson so much he has a huge photo of him in his house right above what looks like the dining table. So yes, it does make me like him more! Here’s the story from People:

Bradley Cooper has no problem winning over humans (hello, Sexiest Man Alive!) – it’s his dog that’s the problem.

When The Words star first met Charlotte, his chow/retriever mix, “She was on the streets of Compton, actually,” he told Kelly Ripa and Sam Champion during a Thursday appearance on Live! With Kelly.

“She has no bottom teeth,” he continued, as he described the “little polar bear” and “little toughie” he found through Much Love Animal Rescue.

It may have been love at first sight between the pair, but Charlotte was apparently unimpressed with Cooper’s acting credits when he adopted her that day.

“When she saw you, did she recognize you?” Ripa asked. “And was she like, ‘I am hitting the jackpot!’ Can you imagine?”

In fact, Charlotte had no previous knowledge of her new owner’s past work. “I was like ‘Hey, I was on Alias,'” he said. “She’s like, ‘Nope.’ I’m like, ‘Wedding Crashers?'”

It didn’t keep Cooper from forming a lasting bond with the well-behaved pooch, and he told the audience, “She’s the best.”

[From People]

Now I know what Cooper really cares about, it makes him seem more relatable to me. He told People last year that he sneaks Charlotte on set with him even though he’s “not supposed to.” That’s cute, and that dog is precious! Maybe I don’t consider myself a dog person, but I really love other people’s dogs and wish I could have one. I just travel too much. This story is making me melt a little.

Cooper is in the new Dax Shephard film, Hit and Run, and he’s also in an upcoming movie with his ex girlfriend, Zoe Saldana, a plagiarism thriller called The Words. The NY Daily News asks if Cooper is giving Saldana the cold shoulder, since he admitted to them that he hasn’t spoken to her, saying “I only talk to Brian [Klugman, the director and childhood pal]. That’s the only person I ever talk to. [from the film].” The News notes that Zoe didn’t come to a preview of the film in The Hamptons that Cooper attended, and neither did their other co-star, Olivia Wilde, “who was linked to [Cooper] in March 2011 after he split from then-longtime girlfriend Renee Zellweger.” Who hasn’t this guy slept with?

Here are some new photos of Cooper at the premiere of The Words in Philadelphia yesterday. Neither Wilde nor Saldana were at this premiere, either. He looks really hopped up on something, doesn’t he? Those are not sober or even drunk eyes, those are stimulant eyes. I could be wrong I guess, or maybe he just had a whole pot of coffee.

    NO!!

I seriously need some corrective vision, because I thought that was a polar bear for a couple minutes.

    • ZigZagZoey says:

I have a huge white lab(named Zoey) that looks even more than a polar bear than this dog! I had never had a white dog before that, and I think I will always have a white dog. She is so beautiful, but sadly she is getting really old. Best dog I have ever had.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Hi ZigZagZoey! She sounds beautiful! I have never seen a white Lab. I saw some white Golden Retrievers last time I was in EU…

      • ZigZagZoey says:

Hello Kitten! She’s not a thoroughbred or anything, but mostly lab. She has a huge chest/neck area and her ears are on the small side for a lab, and that’s what makes her look so much like a polar bear.
Cool ~ I have never seen a white Goldie, but I would love to!!

    • Reece says:

I totally thought that too for a minute. Then the rational brain kicked in. 🙂

    • JudyK says:

HAHAHA! Before I opened the link, I also thought it was an adorable Polar Bear!

      Love that dog!

      • Hotpockets says:

After some coffee, I think I can see a little better, but Bradley Cooper is giving some crazy eyes in those photos, goodness!

    • Kristen says:

You’re not alone. I thought that too.

    • Rux says:

Thank You! For a few seconds, all I could think was “Oh cute a baby polar bear walking around NYC”

I live in NYC, there are stranger things I have seen walk down the street.

    • Becca says:

AHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA I could not stop laughing!!! too funny!!!

    • steph says:

Hahaha! I did too, lol. I was only half looking and not thinking AT ALL, and just thought, “that dude has a polar bear on a leash.” Nothing wierd about that.

  3. jinni says:

No dog is cute enough to get pass his date raping, fratboy face/serial killer eyes. I have no idea why he looks that way to me now because I used to think he was cute on Alias.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Yes! Those crazy eyes are seriously fear-inducing. Police, go through his closets ASAP!

ETA: he actually looks pretty good here http://www.celebitchy.com/182066/did_zoe_saldana_cheat_on_her_boyfriend_of_10_years_with_bradley_cooper/

    • polk8dot says:

I think he photographs very badly. In the movies he looks quite handsome, even hot. But in posed photos he always comes off like a tweaker hopped up on RedBull. Especially the eyes – they ALWAYS look so beady, and stalker-ish. That explains why I like looking at his pics when he’s wearing sunglasses.
Plus, with that facial expression in most of his pics, I can’t help but get that crazy image in my mind of his feet doing a flapper dance below the cut-off line. And if a photo can imply that a person stinks, I think his do.
What the heck is happening to him? He joins the long (and alarmingly fast growing) list of Hollywood stars who DO NOT AGE WELL.

  4. someone says:

i’m sorry i’m not making a comparison here, but isn’t that ryan gosling’s thing? hasn’t he brought his dog to interviews before? is this some kind of ploy to get us to like bradley cooper more and finally accept him as sexiest man alive…lol either way, his dog is pretty adorable 🙂

    • jinni says:

I was thinking the same thing about Ryan doing this or something similar to it. Personally, I find it annoying when people bring animals where they aren’t supposed to. It’s great that you love your pet, but that doesn’t mean everyone else does; even if they’re well behaved. This doesn’t include seeing eye dogs because those are highly, trained professionals that are doing a job.

      • Sunnyinseattle says:

Yes Jinni! I especially hate it when people bring their dogs in their arms into stores. Especially grocery stores. And then no one working tells them they can’t have them there. I love dogs and have 2 myself, but I would never bring them in a store. Gross. And what about people that have allergies? Just rude! 🙁

      • Gayle says:

Eh, I wish the U.S. were more like France and Germany where people are allowed to bring their dogs into any public space and even ride the buses and subways.

Let’s face it, kids are a lot more annoying than dogs, typically. The allergist lobby is the most annoying of them all.

      • TrustMeOnThis says:

        “Allergist lobby” – seriously?
I love dogs but there really are folks who can’t be around them. Shops and public spaces are for people to share. Dogs can go to the dog park. Overly entitled dog people are just as bad as pushy parents.

  5. Thea says:

Those are coke eyes…..and Not the canned drink.

    • HulaHoop says:

      I think you’re right…

    • steph says:

^^This. I can totally imagine his head doing little jerky bounces in this picture like people in that state tend to do. He looks like he is sucking on his teeth/clenching jaw. Gross.

  6. Relli says:

Aw I like the B.Coop! And that pup is adorable!

  7. mmhmm says:

    AWWW!!! <3

  8. bella says:

LOVE the dog and I believe people who care for them are good people.
This will NOT, however, make me like this guy. I just don’t and I don’t get what anyone finds appealing about him.
Not that he’s awful or anything…I just don’t see star quality…sorry, Bradley. Very sweet to rescue dogs, though.

    • ZigZagZoey says:

Exactly. LOVE that dog, but Brad is ~ IDK ~ There is just something kid of slimy that I don’t like!

    • MW says:

Exactly, ZZZ. It might be not being able to get past that if he could play such a creep in Wedding Crashers, he must really be one. I think I MIGHT respect him more, seeing he loves his dog, but he doesn’t appeal to me more.

  9. Jackie O says:

its going to take more than a dog.

  10. Kelly says:

He thought that dog would know him from Alias? That’s so stupid. That dog’s way too young to have watched Alias.

    She is a cutie, though.

  11. KellyinSeattle says:

Not much here. So he has a dog. So? I find it irritating when people bring animals inside when they’re not supposed to. My psychological problem, I guess, from when my neighbor brings “baby” over and she poops on my floor. Cooper – no opinion one way or another.

  12. ramie says:

lmao @ serial killer eyes! I knew there was something very off about Brad. Good for him for adopting a shelter pet, but I’ll never think he’s attractive.

  13. TheOriginalKitten says:

I never like B Coop that much but I am in LOVE with this dog!! So effin’ cute!

You know how most women’s biological clock starts ticking? I think I have a dog clock ticking in me because lately I can’t stop thinking about how badly I want one!

  14. Happy21 says:

He’s not my fave but I have a soft spot for people who love animals.

  15. Tif says:

I find him attractive during certain roles, but not when I see him in magazines/photos. But, yes, this does make him more endearing to me. Obviously he brought along the dog for some other (more self-serving) reasons than this, but any time people can promote adopting from shelters and rescue agencies is a GREAT thing.

  16. neelyo says:

Yikes! In that second photo he looks like Stains, that dog on The Soup who wanted a cupcake so badly.

    http://youtu.be/tlDW9nr7yiY

  17. F5 says:

    No ﹙︶︵︶﹚

  18. Amelia says:

    He named his dog Charlotte?
    ….Oh Chrissakes, gimme, gimme, gimme!
I know that sounds weird, but there genuinely is a context that doesn’t make me sound like a madwoman for happily jumping him because he named his dog that ^^

  19. RobN says:

Can’t help it, I love the crazy eyes and the fact that he’d adopt a special needs dog.

    • TrustMeOnThis says:

Run, run from the crazy eyes! If you learn nothing else in life, learn that. TMOT.

  20. Sookie says:

Cute dog and awesome that he adopted an animal in need instead of a purebred. But I agree with some of the previous pots that cite that “dog fever” in Los Angeles has gone too far: bringing your dog to the grocery store, the mall, to a nice restaurant, the doctors office, etc is just ignorant of people who may have allergies, be uncomfortable around dogs, business owners who could incur property damage, etc. As for the pictures, he’s high on something, and it isn’t just booze!

  21. Dolores says:

….Um, those are coke eyes, see the broken blood vessels?

  22. lori says:

I have a hard time finding Capricorn men sexy no matter how “nice looking” they are. The just read boring and self centered to me. Patrick Dempsey is another one, nice looking guy but I just can’t find him sexy.

    • Aubra says:

Us caps aren’t boring, we just don’t put it all out there! We unwind, trust me, just when the time calls for it!

We were born the same day…lmao

  23. lucy2 says:

That dog is really cute, and it’s great that he rescued her from a shelter.

I used to find him cute on Alias, but he does nothing for me now. He is not at all sexy IMO.

  24. Stellax2 says:

I have a different perspective on this because I grew up with him and his family along with mine.

I’m a huge dog lover. I have two of my own. One adopted and a lab. Charlotte is sweet dog.

Cooper isn’t the most enigmatic actor and I’m aware that he knows that; having said that he will capitalize on his strengths most of the time. A certain type of persona and behavior follows or becomes part of any said person. I wish him the best.

There are many actor’s that are not as dynamic on screen, interviews, etc., as they are in person. One example that comes to mind is the very handsome Benjamin Bratt. Most critic’s do not like his acting but do acknowledge he’s much more dynamic in person.

    Does this make any sense?

  25. Michele says:

Awwwwww that’s such a cute dog. I watched him yesterday on Live with Kelly and his dog was so well behaved on the set during the entire interview.

  26. yellowshaba says:

Years and years ago I used to watch this travel show called globe trekker, and bradley was one of the shows travelers. Its funny cuz in that show I thought he was attractive and inte lligent. Now I see him and its the total opposite. not sure why I don’t care for him, he’s not the typical hollywood sleazeball, but he’s just idk..meh…..

  27. keats says:

    Ol’ foxface cooper.

  28. Dahlia1947 says:

I was loving him more then i scrolled down to his wide, and scary eyes! He was hot in HJNTIY and cute in Limitless.

Yeah sure he’s a little bit more hot to me knowing that he takes in these doggies. 😀 There I said it. lol

  29. Rux says:

    I like his hair.

  30. NYC_girl says:

Men with blue eyes have always been trouble for me.

  31. silly you says:

sorry, the dog doesn’t help. he’s as bland as can be. love the dog, tho.

  32. LeslieM says:

I really lime him but I hate “The Hangover” and hate that he was in it. Every other word was F$@& and in the end he acts as though he’s having sex with s tiger. I hate the tought of teenagers watching this. My husband thought it was funny but I HATED it. There are so many actors who go their entire careers without making movies like that. Channing Tatum is one that I completely boycott after seeing that Jump Street movie.

  33. tru tru says:

he can NEVER be my sensitive Ryan Gosling, so he needs to stop it..

    not buying it

  34. Carolinax says:

Cooper has been doing a ton of press lately, I think that’s why he’s got the case of the crazy eyes. I met him a month ago and he was a really nice guy. His dog is really adorable.

  35. jen7waters says:

Nah, still a douche. Love the dog, though.

  36. skuddles says:

I have a soft spot for anyone who rescues animals…. takes a special kind of person to do that.

  37. Camille (The original) says:

BC is fug but his dog is adorable!

  38. Mimi says:

great mix! chow mixes are great. full breds can be a little mean but i had chow/border collie mix..loyal, protector, sweet, calm, understood english and my body language better than any humans…he was like a real life 70 lb teddy bear. RIP JACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! i miss you!

  39. Aubra says:

They labelled him the “Hardest working guy in showbusiness” yesterday on the Today show, since he has three more films coming out this year and one next year, plus he’s set to film again next year in Philly. Us January caps are an ambitious lot as well as late bloomers…I totally get him!

    Charlotte is soooooo adorable

  40. bgirl says:

YAY for rescue dogs! Love the coverage…he’s a great ambassador for rescue.

  41. hairball says:

I never found him attractive – he had a few moments in Hang Over where he looked attractive, but that was rare. But I LOVE that he adopted and brought attention to it! I adopted two dogs last year and Love them so much.

In my area, between 2 major animal shelters, over 5,000 dogs were euthanized in 2011 alone. SAD and wrong.

  42. Maria_Spain says:

    NOP -_-

  43. trina says:

So what’s his story with Saldana? Why would they have to stay clear of each other?

I don’t know much about his love life except that he seems to have dated both Aniston and Renee Zellweger for about 2 minutes.

    • Aubra says:

He said last week when he was on Stern he was dating somone but didn’t say who. I am pretty sure it’s Zoe because on twitter back when he was doing that play in MA, people were tweeting that they met them both, and then the last week of june, there is a pic of his mom and her with a group of people. All this after they supposedly broke up. But I think they were hiding mainly because she probably overlapped like a ratchet wh*re and cheated with him on her fiance. Plus I think Jennifer Lopez was a fake thing to throw off that he was REALLY with her:

      1. In his “Sexiest Man Alive” article, he was asked if he was dating JLO amd he said something about how stories like that were hard to hear “when you’re really dating somone else”, and then those morning after photos of him and JLo I also think were staged because the night before he was at an awards show, the same one Zoe was at…SO either it was all a mess ruse, or she’s still very much his future ex girlfriend…

  44. Aqua says:

No,I dislike him just as much now as I did before. The dog on the other hand is absolutely adorable!
