“How is Oprah still the highest-earning celebrity in the world?” links

How in the world did Oprah manage to make $165 million over the past year?! Her network is failing and she’s had to fire so many people, so how is she still the highest-paid celebrity in the world? Michael Bay is #2. Ha. [Bitten & Bound]

Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, CA. is an upper middle class area and think their shite don’t stink. To no ones surprise, they celebrated Senorita Day dressing as day laborers, housekeepers, gang members and knocked up teenagers.

” Some students dressed as INS agents and went around “arresting Mexican students.”

That’s terribly sad in this day and age of cultural awareness. Let’s hope that instead of Senorita Day, Canyon HS has a “don’t be a labeling douche” Day instead.

I like Amber Heard as a brunette. I think she pulls off nicely both the brown and the blond hair. As a blond she does look much more glamourus and unique, though.

Really? Wow. I guess the 50 million or so she’s dropped to prop up OWN hasn’t caught up with the accountants yet.

I would guess Oprah still owns a lot of daytime shows, and a magazine still? People at the top of corporations like that ALWAYS get paid.

Brad and Angie are engaged and have 6 kids. Let it go already.
And every single one of those a**hole kids on Senorita Day are a sad reminder of what racism really is. It’s not always burning crosses and white hoods.

Dressing up in stereotypical, mocking garb on a day meant to celebrate a culture is not protecting your country, it’s simly being racist.

    • Nymeria says:

The term “Hispanic” refers to race, not culture.

Individual Hispanic cultures are cultures. “Mexican” is a culture. “Peruvian” is a culture. “Guatemalan” is a culture. The melding of Indian races and cultures with the above cultures does not negate the fact that in the end, the people inhabiting each country are, generally speaking, considered Hispanic in terms of their race. How individuals within each culture wish to classify themselves is a different matter.

      You dig?

Try saying “European is a culture, not a race” and see how stupid that sounds. I’ll wait.

There are common elements in all European cultures, just as there are in Hispanic cultures, but German culture, for example, is very different from Irish culture.

I guess I shouldn’t expect much from someone who calls illegal immigrants “ugly” and “squat.” Do I really need to explain why that sounds so repugnant?

Hispanics are an ethnic group who have their origins in the Latin or Spanish speaking world. My grandfather was raised in Brazil but was of completely Caucasian descent, as am I, although I have a “Spanish” last name. The US Census hasn’t categorized Hispanics as a race since the 70s, but rather as an ethnicity. Hispanics are of many races, although it is certainly true that many Hispanics do see themselves as a race. To each his own.

Actually Nymeria, Mexican, Peruvian, Guatemalan…refer to nationality.
And *European* refers to a continent/geographical area, not a race.

@Nymeria- I hate to defend someone who appears to be a schmuck like Garrish Utley but Hispanic is not a race, it’s considered an ethnicity and people often do refer to European culture (usually as a reference to Western European or “continental” culture) even though each country has it’s own culture. European is not a race, btw, there are 3 “races” (and I will stick to using the historical/clinical demographic terminology so please don’t be offended): Caucasoid; Negroid; Mongoloid (aka, and also considered an offensive term, Oriental)

Oprah has stake in Rachel Ray, Dr Oz, Nate Berkus, she has that studio in Chicago, O magazine…As for Doug Pitt I saw the Australian interview that L & S is referring to he said he isn’t in contact with her but sure they are friends after he was asked about her.Im sure one of the tabloids will claim the Pitts will attend Aniston’s wedding which sparked a fight between Brad and Angie.Brad left the house in tears on Maddox’s dirtbike.LOL

Sometimes I feel like some people are a little too happy when Oprah seemed to be struggling with her network. Whatever happens with OWN, it does not take away from the fact that she is still a very successful woman who has overcome a lot. Lady O is still slayin!

Dear God, what kind of child has no problem sharing with strangers that she thinks she has a stalker… but does not mention it to her parents? How sad. And honestly, if you have a stalker, it’s probably not a good idea to keep tweeting about having one- they know you’re on to them. Tell your parents. Tell a teacher. Tell a cop. Don’t rely on the twitter universe.

    Such a sad story

I’m so tired of hearing people say someone (usually a woman) “stole” someone else (usually a man). Putting it that way takes away the man’s culpability. It takes two to have an affair, and both parties should be held responsible. Unless Angelina actually kidnapped Brad, she did not “steal” him.

I hate to say it but I grew tired of Oprah a long time ago. She is amazing though with all she’s been able to create and the remarkable amount of money she’s made. I met her after Hurricane Hugo when she brought her show to Charleston, SC. It was a real disaster and she kept telling her people “I’ve got to get out of here.”

I switched off Oprah when she publicly chastised the author found guilty of plagiarism. She accepted no responsibility for her part. It wasn’t her place to shame him and went against her confessional type of TV. It was horrible to watch and I’ve never bothered again. She is someone who has bred co-dependent audiences with expectations of getting things to miraculously fall from the sky on their lap as instant rewards for their membership into her cult. I can’t stand her.

I watch The Way We Were over and over and over again specifically for Robert Redford. That man, especially in that movie, is walking sex. They styled him magnificently in that movie; navy uniform, sideburns, sweater over the shoulders, aviator sunglasses, OMG. And the fact he was romancing Babs in all her feminist glory, well that movie cannot be topped for romantic movie of the century!!!

Oprah just verbally berates the money until it jumps into her pocket.
Sorry, but her behind the scenes show about OWN didn’t do her any favors. She looked like an uppity witch.
