I didn’t get a chance to use these photos yesterday or Sunday, but I know everyone loves some Hot Viking Action, even if it comes late. Alex had been filming in Vancouver for several months, then he went to Toronto to promote his film What Maisie Knew at TIFF, then I think he went back to Vancouver, and then he was back in LA for Emmy weekend. Now, True Blood was not up for any awards. So it’s not like Alex HAD to be in town for Emmy weekend, you know? But still, Alex was there, and he was partying his Viking ass off.
These are pics from throughout the weekend – on Saturday night, he was at the Marmont, then on Sunday night he partied at the HBO post-Emmy event AND the Sunset Towers (the suit pics). He looks really good, doesn’t he? Like he’s happy and tan and well-rested. I wonder if he’s got a new girlfriend? Maybe this is his “single and ready to mingle” face, though. Anyway, while Alex was at TIFF, he did an interview with the LA Times – you can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Working on What Maisie Knew with child actress Onata Aprile: “It didn’t matter how good all the other actors were. If we didn’t have an amazing Maise — if you don’t watch the movie and fall in love with her — then the movie doesn’t work.”
On Onata: “It’s so wonderful to work with someone like that — once you get over that she’s better than you are. She’s not self-conscious, whereas we actors try hard to fake it and she doesn’t even have to try. It’s frustrating. She doesn’t deserve it,” he said with a laugh.
On his divorced parents: “My parents still hang out, are still best friends and still spend Christmas together. Dad likes to cook every night, so Mom will come over and have dinner with Dad and Megan and all the kids,” said Skarsgard. “It’s much less dramatic than ‘What Maisie Knew.’ It wouldn’t be a very good movie.”
Too many dramas: “I need to find something with Danny McBride or Will Ferrell, something like that,” Skarsgard said. “I need a comedy. I need something fun.”
See? That’s what I said and all of the Skars-loonies jumped all over me! I said he needs to break out of doing these dark roles and sci-fis and action-dramas and stuff. He needs to show an acting range beyond “intensity and brooding hotness.” The only problem is that there are so few good comedy scripts out there, and they usually go to actors who are known for comedy. We’ll see, though. I would still like to see him lighten it up.

I watched Zoolander last night, and I barely screamed when I discoverd he was in it!

I do, and my observation does not come from the shiny skin or the size of his forehead. It’s from the lack of expression in the eyebrow region compared to other photos I’ve seen of him.

He reminds me of Keanu Reeves. Modest, unpretentious aura. Sometimes they look plain, but other times they look so amazingly gorgeous especially when they have to dress up. The difference is, Alex is more immaculately dressed than Keanu.
