The latest issue of In Touch, not the most reliable source I know, claims that “The Honeymoon is Over” for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and that Cruise limits Katie’s time on the phone with friends and has tried to change her interests and hobbies. They say that Katie was chatting with Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom at their second wedding party/stateside Scientology recruiting blitz, and that Tom shut her down when she mentioned an interest in going to the exclusive nightclub Hyde. The article draws a lot of conclusions about Tom and Katie’s home life and implies that Katie is Tom’s shadow of her former self:
Tension was already in the air at Tom and Katie’s LA wedding reception on December 9, where a guest saw Katie talked to Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom about the Hollywood hotspot Hyde.
“Katie was asking what it’s like and saying she’d never been,” the onlooker shares. “Kirsten and Orlando were telling her that a lot of their friends go.” But when Tom walked up and joined the conversation, the tide turned. “Kirsten said they had invited Katie to Hyde, and Tom got a concerned look on his face. He said, ‘Oh, that’s no plance for you or me to go, Kate.’”
When Katie walked off with Tom, 44, “she looked really embarassed,” the witness says. “It was like she’d just gotten into trouble.”

If this is indeed a true quote, I would guess that the “guest” that overheard it was one of the servers, but who knows if it’s accurate?
The article goes on to say that Tom forces Katie to keep her phone calls with girlfriends short, and has convinced her to give up her favorite hobbies like ceramics, painting and singing Karaoke. The only things that she seems able to do are Tom-approved activities like shopping, attending his children’s sports games with him, and taking up his hobby of learning to fly an airplane. He is also controlling her career and insists on having approval of any new projects she takes on.
They say that Katie seems to be comfort shopping as she routinely drops tens of thousands of dollars on clothing and shoes with no concern for the price.
If all this is true and is more than conjecture on In Touch’s part it wouldn’t be surprising. Cults retain power over new members by limiting their social contacts with outsiders and coercing them into adopting a new identity so they can’t escape back to their old one. It seems like Scientology’s most visiible spokesperson Tom is using those same tactics in his relationship with Katie. I for one am not fooled by their PR wedding and cute baby.

Doesn’t it seem like she spends and awful lot of time shopping? I’m a mom and I’m always shocked by how much time she spends away from her child just out shopping. Maybe that’s just the way the media spins it. But she always looks so bored too. I just don’t get it. There is something about it that doesn’t feel good to me.

As much as I hate Tom (yes, HATE) the pictures of Katie were taken just before Christmas and they’re saying she’s comfort shopping? Puuuulllllease. As much as I like to bash on Tom, it’s more believable that Katie was Christmas shopping. Yes, even wacko athiests buy presents.

Not only is she not smiling in any of those pictures, she looks on the verge of tears to me.
On a separate note… I know she gets bashed for it all the time, but I love her sense of style. I’m not an OLD lady, lol, I’m 33, so I’m older than her, but I think she always looks so sophisticatedly classic. I’d happily wear her castoffs from what has to be a hell of a revolving closet the way this girl shops. Of course, I’d have to be about 1/4 of the woman I am now to fit them.

ThisGirl, “wacko atheists”? Has this site turned into a condemnation pool for bored church wives? Besides, Scientologists are not atheists. “Xenu,” I’m sure, is a God-like figure. I can’t feel sorry for Katie. She’s a grown woman, she’s heard the whispers. She had plenty of time to back out. If the rumors are true, she traded in her independence and self-respect for a marriage of convenience and wealth.

I’d have no problem trapping Tom and his money with a kid in my belly and an amazing pre-nup and another one on the way. -
What is the deal with the super shortie bangs in the front? I had bangs like that when I was in Kindergarden when I experimented with cutting my own hair.
She does have a great sense of style and is very stunning. I loved her in the movie - Pieces of April.

Her going out sad and alone shouldn’t surprise anyone. I highly doubt she’s allowed to go with anyone other than her guards, aka keepers. We don’t see her out alone with Suri because we and Tom knows that if she were, she’d bolt like a Tomahawk missile.
Cults do this to people. If you don’t already know about Scientology, get informed. She’s been sucked in, the vacuum has her, and only God can save her…or Jack Sparrow.

Wow! I see a lot of people still believe what gossip media reports about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes whem it has been proven once and again that most of what they published about the couple in 2006 was just not true - invented. Let’s be real! What the media reports about Tom and Katie has zero credibility at this point.

I know that celebrity gossip has to be taken with a grain of salt, but there is something seriously wrong with this woman. She has looked zoned out and exhausted well before the later stages of her pregnancy. She didn’t look that way pre-Tom. I don’t think the cult theories are far off.

Re the “super shortie bangs,” a lot of women lose some hair post-partum, and when it is growing back, it looks wispy and childlike, especially around the hairline.

I hate to say this, but she’s one person who should’ve have been partying with people her own age in her twenties. She’s too young for him.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. Katie, sorry.. “Kate”, always looks sad and exhausted when alone. With Cruise she’s doing the “grin and laugh like a maniac” routine but when alone and shopping, you can see she’s dead inside. Retail therapy is obviously not working. I’m sure he controlls every aspect of her life. I don’t know whether to feel sorry or say “you’ve made your bed *Kate*” A guy changing his gf/wife’s first name is NOT a good thing and I’ve heard him say “Kate” many times on TV. He’s a control freak of intergalactic proportions.
