It always pleases me to see more Virgo babies in the world. For real! Virgo babies shall inherit the… paperwork? The details? The anal retentive world. Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo (Vanessa Lachey, it seems) welcomed baby boy Camden John Lachey on September 12, just a few weeks ago. And yesterday, both Nick and Vanessa debuted Camden on their Twitter pages. Vanessa wrote, “@NickSLachey and I are honored and humbled to introduce you to the new Love of our lives, Camden John Lachey.” He’s so cute! I see more of Vanessa in him right now – I think Camden definitely got her darker coloring, but I bet he’ll start looking more like Nick in the months to come.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to a couple introducing their baby via Twitter? I kind of like it. Although Vanessa and Nick’s baby debut might not be “worthy” of a People Magazine cover (although Snooki and her baby got one, so who knows?), I’m sure they could have managed to get paid for the first baby pics in some way. Like, Us Weekly or In Touch or even OK! Mag would have paid something like $50,000-100,000 for the first photo shoot, I would think. So it’s kind of cool that they gave it away for free. I like them more for doing it this way.

Smart to do this via twitter. No matter what they do, the mags will turn it into a Lachey/Simpson competition, and it would’ve been way worse if they had chosen to do a cover.

True. A publication will still do a beautiful shoot & sell mags – there are those of us (me!) still not on Twitter. I think it is a most advantageous approach, because it has to put off the paparazzi hounding them for the “first shot” every time they leave the house.

I think this is the right way to do it now. Sure they probably could have gotten a few $$ for his picture. But honestly the public is sick of seeing babies on covers and gives a lot of shade to those who still do that.

I agree with the top comment – Twitter might be non-traditional, but it’s way better than pimping your baby out to People Magazine.

Vanessa can be skinny, pop out 5 more that are beautiful babies. The one thing she cant do is be Jessica. Jess captured his heart and mind at a young age. She will always be #1. First loves remain first.
Really? This is what you posted? I doubt Nick cares. He and Vanessa have been together for quite awhile now and seem well suited and happy. Their son is absolutely beautiful! I am happy for them as well as his ex-wife and her new baby.

That’s hysterical. Most of my friends and I never feel that way about our first love. More like thank God, we would have outgrown them.
Maybe for a few years after the divorce he was torn up, but the Jessica he loved, great body and dipsy but kind of cute for her age is not the thirty-year-old girl battling weight problems, who before pregnancy looked like a truck driver at times, who still talks like she’s dumb as rocks. It’s not so cute anymore. I can’t imagine any man not getting sick of her dumb remarks. Plus, she moved on to quite a few men after him. That takes the bloom off the rose. Jessica is a sweet girl, but I don’t see much that would make him pine for her.
Vanessa is just gorgeous and so sweet. He’s been with her a long time. I watched their marriage special. Great couple. Jessica is just a distant memory. When Jessica looks like Sally Struthers in her forties (that’s mean, Sorry) and Vanessa is just gorgeous, we’ll see how the first love stands up.

I always got the impression, from the few episodes I watched of their show, that jessica got on nick’s nerves.
LOL That’s funny, I think you need to get over the Jessica/Nick fantasy. First loves are just that, FIRST loves. They eventually fade away the majority of the time. Jessica and Nick have both moved on, I think it’s time you do the same. It’s not 2002 anymore and they’re not 20 something anymore.

So cute! I think it’s wonderful that they released these photos for free. It seems to me like most celebs look at their babies like money making/publicity machines. From the first pap photos of the “baby bump” and all the articles following, to the “exclusive” fist photos, to the mega deals with Weight Watchers or Jenny. This says a lot about them as people. Congrats!

I will just add to the chorus of how adorably gorgeous this baby is! 😀 I miss when mine were this little, and that pic actually brought tears to my eyes.
And I much prefer parents introducing a baby to the world via Twitter or FB than via magazine cover. I’m a sucker for baby pix, but I’m not on-board with the idea of selling a precious new little life’s pix to the highest bidder. There’s just something seedy about it.

I like the twitter method – I’m always weirded out by the whole magazine covers for money, even if it does go to charity. There’s something about attaching a price to the kids that never sits well with me, and I just like the casualness of a regular photo, not some big fancy shoot. To each their own, but that’s how I would do it.

Anyway, I guess I’m the only one but I like it when celebrities sell their baby photos and donate the money to charity.
It does get a bit weird when they start comparing the amount of money brought in by the kid.
