Miranda Kerr flaunts her stellar abs in Russh mag: lovely or too show-offy?

Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr covers the October/November issue of RUSSH, which is the “homegrown issue” of the Australian magazine. As such, the Victoria’s Secret model is proudly acknowledging her roots with this slightly intriguing photoshoot. The cover shot itself is quite bizarre though — a corset underneath an AC/DC top seems rather odd at best. In most of the editorial within the magazine, Miranda is showing off an enviable figure including some serious abs that would rival the likes of Gwen Stefani.

Miranda Kerr

Overall, I think Miranda is a well-intentioned young woman even if she seems a wee bit too judgy about epidurals and other holistic health issues. However, she is an excellent and rather versatile model who was chosen (hilariously enough) by this magazine as “a shining example of what we breed in the antipodes” and “a celebration of our world beyond Vegemite and other such clichés.” Certainly, Miranda is one of the most famous models ever bred in Australia, so she seems a fitting choice for this issue. The photos are lovely even if her face is at least partially hidden in most of the shots.

Miranda also covers the October issue of Cosmopolitan South Africa, and I’m including the cover at the bottom of this post, but here are some excerpts from her interview:

On body image: “I have a good relationship with my body and I think that comes down to the fact that I listen to what it’s telling me. I’d say the only thing I can sometimes deprive my body of is sleep, and it’s in those moments of being tired I can feel a little overwhelmed.”

On beauty tips: “My all time best beauty tip is to dry-brush your body daily. It improves the functioning of the lymphatic system, improves circulation and leaves skin smoother. It also keeps cellulite at bay.”

On goals: “I have pictures of places I’d love to go, people I hope to meet, things I’d like to do, and even pictures of friends and family I pray will remain in my life. I find it uplifting to look over the images and focus on them as part of my future.”

Orly is so romantic: “One time in Paris, we went to The Hemingway Bar beneath the Ritz. Sitting there, we were inspired to write love notes to each other. I didn’t know he’d kept these until a few years later – at Christmas – he presented me with a frame containing all those notes. [It’s] my favorite gift!”

[From Cosmo South Africa]

That part about Orlando is so sweet, but I have to wonder whether or not she gave their relationship lip service because of recent rumors that they were on the verge of a split. Yeah, I’m cynical like that.

Here’s the rest of the RUSSH editorial. Miranda’s certainly got a great bod, and no one could ever tell by looking at her that she had a baby less than two years ago.

I think it’s lovely, (I’m jealous of the abs) and she is fairly harmless..

And I like her and Orly as a couple, hope they do stay together..

  2. Isa says:

She has a hot bod but her abs look weird in that photo.
Also I remember her talking about the frames love notes before. The best gifts are thoughtful ones.

  3. Charlotte says:

She was popping up every 5 minutes not so long ago (in Australia) and it was…way too much.
I think she has a lovely, girl-next-door face, but I get a vibe of too much self-importance from her interviews (which I do try to avoid). Not that it would be her fault, as no doubt she’s constantly being told she’s the bee’s knees.
Over all, I’m bored. Maybe she’s not overly-saturated in America, but Australia and the UK have done her to death.

      +1.
She is someone whose picture seems to pop up on just about every webpage I visit, and I just don’t get the level of fame she has. I wish her well, but I also wish she would go away for a good long while.

    • Evadstructn says:

Major over saturation here in Australia. Her interview with Australian 60 Minutes really put me off her.Her earth -mother routine seemed judgy, and her speaking manner is truly irritating. Great body, great model, I just don’t want to hear her talk.

    • Charlotte says:

      ….also, top shot: polterwang

  4. Christina says:

If I’m ever asked to compile a picture dictionary, I will put Miranda’s picture next to the entry for ‘smug’.

No further explanation would be neccessary.

  5. Rhea says:

I think she’s okay. She seems sweet and as someone said here fairly harmless. Would still prefer Miranda than Gisele. 🙂

    • Christina says:

They both seem like shameless self-promoters to me.

But as a model, Giselle is head and shoulders above Kerr. Miranda is completely boring and only really has one look – no versatility at all. To me, she looks like a 17 year old catalogue model, not a high-fashion model by any stretch of the imagination.

      • Rhea says:

Everybody has their own taste. I don’t really care which one is more high fashion, edgy model like you said. I like Miranda because she’s more simple–not as high maintenance like Gisele as a person—to me. 😉

      • stellalovejoydiver says:

Except Giselle doesn´t seem to be calling the paps, and Miranda clearly does.

  6. Kitten says:

She’s definitely the type of girl that looks better with less or no makeup.

    • atlantapug says:

      Yes!

I love all of the photos except the cover shot for Cosmo in the pink dress.

Her head looks an odd shape and the makeup is terrible!

  7. FreeSpiritedGirl says:

🙂 God, what a stunning body! It doesn’t seem like she has ever been pregnant. Wow! Wish I would be like her post delivery. Hehehe

  8. Nanz says:

She looks great. Wish I ha her discipline post-delivery.

  9. Charlotte says:

    she’s so beautiful

  10. eileen says:

She is insanely gorgeous. One of my fave models out now. She reminds me of Helena Christensen! Wiked Game girl.

  11. Green is Good says:

    What the hell is “dry-brushing”?

  12. MonicaQ says:

I have not seen much of Ms. Kerr but I can say that she has a cute face. I have a woeful knowledge of her and her accomplishments except that she’s with Orlando Bloom and my 14 year old self is sharpening knives somewhere deep down.

I can’t look at Giselle without seeing Tom Brady. And as a football fan of just about any team BUT the Patriots (but my love is the Dolphins who share a division, yes they suck. No need to tell me.), that makes me avoid her like the plague. She might even be a nice person but I see her face and then I see Tom Brady’s smug face and my sports rage just pegs.

  13. TG says:

I love the photos, esp. the one in the pink sweater and blue skirt. The Cosmo one is boring, but that is to be expected. She seems harmless to me. I don’t hate people with self-confidence and I can still relate to someone even if they don’t have to struggle with their weight. I do wonder why we never see her with Orly though. How long have they been together? I don’t think it has been even 5 years. He should have kept the notes another 5 years at a minimum.

  14. RobN says:

How does Cosmo always manage to have incredible boring cover shots? It’s the same exact shot over and over again; they’d save a bunch if they’d just photoshop a different head onto it every month.

  15. Rita says:

In her category, the most beautiful woman in the world. Her eyes are her best feature and she should never wear sunglasses.

  16. mzthirtyeight says:

I seriously just find her to be the most adorable thing ever (well, and Harper Seven as far as babies go). Her interiews can disappoint, but I love looking at her for some reason.

  17. DreamyK says:

New Rules: Any post with Miranda or Orly needs to have pictures of Flynn.

Even better: Flynn and Harper together. Cutest babies ever.

    • Boromir's bytch says:

Please no. Pimping out her kid so much is the worst. All those pre-planned pap shots of her carrying her kid while the nanny hides right outside the shot are just awful.

      • Christina says:

        LOL!

I must say I dislike all the fawning over celeb babies – they’re just babies like any other, they poop and scream and keep you (or the nanny) awake at night. Nobody would be oohing over them if their parents were a cleaner and a bus driver.

What’s worse is when their mothers feel the world needs to know every banal detain about their ‘excruciating natural birth’ and tweets photos of themselves breastfeeding, in a red satin robe slit up to there. Get over it, Miranda, thousands of women give birth every single day. It’s not some amazing achievement which only boring knicker models are capable of.

  18. Trek Girl says:

“Too show-offy”? She’s a model, a lingerie model. How on earth is the picture with her abs showing showing off? You could actually say that she’s more covered up in that picture than most of the ones we see of her.

Miranda Kerr is cool in my book. I’m not a fan of hers, but I don’t dislike her and I like seeing her and her son. I also don’t mind any of her comments about her experience with pregnancy or what she thinks about motherhood. I like her more for making those comments.

  19. ct4224 says:

Who cares. All magazines photos are photoshopped anyways.

  20. dahlianoir says:

I listen to my body too, but that bastard keeps asking for pizza. I hate you body !

  21. CityGirl says:

I think she is very cute and I ain’t mad at her but she looks like she’s 12 to me. Just saying….

  22. xoxokaligrl says:

The last person I would listen to about beauty tips is somebody who is beautiful 24/7.

And her abs look like a man’s.
