Blake Lively included Penny & Baxter Lively-Reynolds in her wedding

The last I heard, the December issue of Martha Stewart Weddings should probably be coming out in early to mid-November. Which means that we probably have a month more to wait to see Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ wedding photos, which were given (sold?) exclusively to that magazine and no other. Blake’s wedding was planned by Martha Stewart’s wedding planners/organizers, and the whole thing is some kind of brilliant cross-promotional move, I guess. What I think is particularly funny, though, is that until the magazine comes out, Blake’s wedding planners and her wedding gown designers (the talentless women of Marchesa) keep talking about Blake’s wedding to People Mag and Us Weekly. Everything keeps getting built up, higher and higher, so that everyone will be inevitably disappointed when the magazine comes out and the whole thing is revealed as some kind of budget, faux-country affair. Because that’s what it sounds like:

The setting, the dress, the decorations – Blake Lively knew exactly what she wanted, in intimate detail, for her wedding last month to Ryan Reynolds.

“She had pages and pages of pictures. She knew everything that she wanted from the very beginning to the very end,” wedding planner Tara Guérard told PEOPLE Monday at the Martha Stewart Weddings Bridal Fashion Week party in New York.

“The problem was she had 250 photos, and she wanted all those elements in her wedding,” Guérard added.

The results, though, were stunning. “[From] simple, elegant flowers to comfortable seating, she wanted the wedding to be very family and friend-oriented, very private,” Guérard said. “It was in a barn, and it was really fun to take this rustic barn element and dress it up inside. It was really lovely, lots of candles, just like she has at home. … She wanted it to feel just like she was at home.”

It was a “charming, charming wedding,” added Martha Stewart, who was among the attendees at the Mt. Pleasant, S.C., nuptials. “Real people, real love. Just really nice [and] personal, which I think is what a wedding must and should be.”

Stewart said her favorite part of the wedding involved the couple’s dogs, but was coy about what role they played. Guérard likewise was reluctant to give details, but revealed: “I did do some flowers for the dogs.”

Darcy Miller, editorial director at Martha Stewart Weddings, which is preparing a photo package from the wedding for its December issue, said the scene in the barn was unbelievably romantic.

“You just looked around the room, and all the candles were glowing, and they just looked so happy,” she said. “You know, I was with them yesterday, and I said to them, ‘I have a never seen a bride and a groom sit at a table so long and just look at each other and talk to each other.’ … Everyone there was just so happy for them.”

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the Marchesa co-founders who designed Lively’s wedding dress, said it was a joy to work with the bride.

“Blake is incredibly stylish, and she really knew what she wanted,” Craig said. “It was very much how we do a lot of brides. We started with a lot of sketches, and we sit down and talk through the sketches until we came to the final dress … She just wanted to be romantic and beautiful.”

Oh, hell. Baxter Reynolds and Penny Lively were involved in the wedding?! Damn. Now I’m looking forward to seeing those dog photos. I bet Penny was a mess! She’s such a little thing. She probably ripped her flowers off. But I bet Baxter was a good puppy and kept his flowers on. Unless Ryan arranged a special dog-tuxedo for him. Oh, God.

Seriously, though… you know Blake’s dress is going to be an ice-skater, faux-toga’d disaster. It’s MARCHESA, how could it not be? As for all of the emphasis on “rustic” and “barn-y” – it could go either way. Maybe it was really pretty. Or maybe it felt like a beautifully lit episode of Hee-Haw. It depends on whether or not there were actual bales of hay. Oh, and “The problem was she had 250 photos, and she wanted all those elements in her wedding”?? Let me guess – Blake had a binder full of images she had been collecting over the years because she had dreamed of her perfect wedding for so long because that’s all women ever dream of, the perfect wedding? No disrespect to those of you who are like that – I’m just not that kind of woman, so I guess I find it slightly bizarre. Different strokes, etc.

PS… You know what hasn’t occurred to me before now? Will Blake change her name, professionally and privately? Is she Blake Reynolds now? That seems like the kind of thing she would do.

Blake Reynolds would sound like a bloke name!

  2. Ailine says:

I didn’t read the article. I’m not really interested in this wedding. I guess because they aren’t big enough stars.

    • Shitler says:

      Yet here you are…commenting.

      • Lou says:

Exactly, why comment on an article you haven’t read?! I think it actually will look really well, as martha stewarted as it possibly could be but still, will look good. Also it seems Blake sure did have it all planned out very quickly! Like im actually intrigued, was ryan just like ‘ok cool, you’re organised’ or did he cop that maybe she wanted to get married for a loooong time, and he was the most willing to do so. Like if he didnt, would she have the exact same wedding except with say… leo inserted into it?or maybe she wanted to marry ryan as soon as they met, regardless of him actually being married to someone else. Girl got game.

      • Ailine says:

Cause I have an opinion and I live in America. I’m not being hypocritical. I admitted that I hadn’t read it. I didn’t say that no one else should be interested.

      • Canda says:

So what, this person is commenting that they don’t care enough because these two aren’t interesting/famous enough. What’s the problem? No one’s being insulted except for Blake and Ryan, so why be rude?

  3. Shitler says:

Penny Lively probably pooped everywhere. I bet that added to the “rustic element”

  4. MrsBPitt says:

Okay, I’m a dog person…so them including their doggies in the wedding, made them go up a zillion points in my book…dogs are family too!

    • Amelia says:

I tend to agree, actually. I know if I get married I’d like my animals involved. Not in a tacky, dress ’em up way, but just have them around.
I think Reynolds suits her as a surname more than Lively. If we’re basing it on her acting alone, anyway.

      • person3514 says:

I want to tie a pillow to my beagles back and have him be the ring bearer(is that the right word?) at my wedding! =)

      • deehunny says:

that’s funny. i have a cat who would have panicked and ran. i’ve never been to a wedding where there were dogs or other animals

  5. Hautie says:

With Martha Stewart being involved, the last thing this will be is budget looking wedding.

    Martha does not do budget.

After years of watching her shows and looking at her magazine. There is no way in hell, ole’ Martha would let her name be attached to an event looking “budget”. Ever. Especially if it is going into her magazine.

Now will the wedding gown be a hot mess. Probably. Unless Blake let Martha make the decisions for it. 🙂

Simply because I have yet to see a dress from Marchesa, that wasn’t a hot mess. I will actually be disappointed if there isn’t any glitter, gold trim and mounds of tulle. I want to see the ultimate ice skaters gown for this wedding.

I am actually surprise that Blake did not go through Chanel for the gown. I bet Uncle Karl Lagerfeld had his feeling hurt that Blake did not use his design for her dress. 🙁

    • mercy says:

I’m going to guess a custom Chanel gown would have been a bigger production, involving going to Paris for fittings, and I don’t know if he would have been down with making 5 different bridesmaids dresses like Marchesa did. Also Blake reportedly “had ideas” about what she wanted and it was a “collaborative” process. Can you see Uncle Karl taking notes? And would Choupette have been able to keep a secret? 😉

Kaiser, she still goes by Blake Lively.

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

More like Karl didn’t want to make her a dress…

      • mercy says:

Maybe, or maybe not. She works for another fashion house, but that hasn’t stopped him from inviting her to Chanel events or giving her clothes.

    • Liv says:

And you know, she has access to ALL designers! I wonder why she chose Marchesa then 😉

  6. I.want.shoes says:

Don’t hate but I really can’t bring myself to hate her. If she really is the famewhore you believe she is, then I think her game is pretty tame. Plus, she dumped Leo DiCaprio! That’s gotta count for something, right?

    • Mia 4S says:

Tame is the problem. She’s not a good actress so the only interest she could really generate is the fashion and famewhore stuff. I had hopes for 5 minutes she might be interesting when she dumped Leo, but nope. Her big move was marrying a B+ lister in a rustic, homey wedding? Dull.

    • deehunny says:

I understand what you mean. she’s like neutral beige.

  7. lower-case deb says:

i clicked on this article to see penny and baxter. but sadly none.
tis an oversight worth correcting, methinks.

  8. Micki says:

Too much obsessed about a wedding Blake?LOL
It’s just a day, it will pass, the rest is more important.

  9. mercy says:

Some of the Marchesa wedding gowns are pretty.

    http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2012/10/marchesa-fall-2013-bridal-collection.html

But I’ve heard the mag will only have a sketch, not pictures of the bride.

    • HotPockets says:

Some of those are really pretty, but you have to be a lace kind of girl.

    • L says:

I love Marchesa’s bridal lines. They are always so feminine and pretty. Their tendency to go over the top works in bridal.

Now their evening/resort lines that celebrities are wearing on the red carpet? AWFUL ice skater stuff. They should just stick to bridal quite honestly.

I’m willing to bet that while it’s a custom dress, that its something from the spring 13 line, which is also quite pretty.

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

@ Mercy and L – I just looked at both links…sure the dresses are pretty, but most have paneling on the chest and/or sleeves. Not a problem for a girl who doesn’t want to show off THE GIRLS, but we know Blake certainly doesn’t fit that. Of course it’s a custom design – would have to be after reviewing these two lines!

  10. Bek says:

I’m hoping the dress will be surprisingly good, although I’m not holding my breath, as this is Marchesa. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures as I think it’s great the wedding wasn’t sold to a tabloid.

  11. lama says:

I’m more excited by rumor that Mulder and Scully are married.

  12. Rux says:

I love Martha Stewart so hopefully this wedding will be subtle and comfortable as described but whatever, I don’t like weddings and I was THRILLED my husband had no objection to just he and I at City Hall with my Dad as witness. It’s all the planning and details that give me a headache.

  13. Nessa says:

Not a fan of this girl, but it is pretty adorable that the dogs were involved.

  14. Shelly says:

I would totally have my dogs in my wedding. They are like my children. My wedding envy for Blake continues…..

  15. silver says:

cant wait to see the pictures

  16. hoya_chick says:

Lol, I was thinking the same thing about the binder full of images (or women!? Hey Mitt!), because they haven’t been together that long so the binder must have preceded him. Lol, she probably had Leo has her groom up until she got with Ryan. I totally agree with you Kaiser, some women are in love with the idea of a wedding and not necessarily the work and commitment it takes to make a marriage work. They fantasize about their wedding day as if it is a crowning achievement. Weird. I give them 3-5 years tops.

  17. linda says:

i dont get why blake lively is a “fashionista” or whatever her style sucks, she reminds me of like a popular rich highschool chick, shes pretty but so incredibly bland looking.

    • oliveo says:

I totally agree. I think she’s fashionable in a trendy kind of way, but not classically/ seriously stylish… fashion and style are two completely different things.

  18. Lindsay says:

I like Blake & Ryan. And Martha Stewart, and Marchesa.
I can’t wait to see the pics, candelight wedding sounds beautiful .

  19. normades says:

I really want to see the pics too!!!

Blake is smart. She pulls the whole surprise wedding and gets lots of headlines. She makes us wait for pictures and keeps on getting headlines. Wait for when the pictures actually come out and she’ll get even more headlines!

This is not a cut on Blake. This is PR genius.

  20. Jay Elle says:

lol I know a Blake Reynolds.

  21. Brittney says:

The binder full of wedding ideas/pictures reminded me of Monica on Friends… and then I realized that there’s a lot about Blake that reminds me of Monica.
