Being a part of a celebrity couple is always more beneficial than being on ones own, in terms of press, Q score, finances, and ultimately work. Even when two "C" list people get together, they're more than the sum of the parts. One only has to look at Jessica Timberlake to see why an actor might cling to a relationship that makes them look pathetic but gets them far more notice and attention than they would get on their own.
