These are some photos from last night’s LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala Honoring Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick presented by Gucci. There were some big names and a ton of B-listers at the event, so I’m just going to cover the most notable people today, and tomorrow we’ll probably have more fashion coverage. Incidentally, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were at the event and they posed for photos inside the event, but neither walked the red carpet. Aniston wore a cleavage-y black dress and she looked pretty good – you can see those photos here.
I suppose the most notable person at the event was Robert Pattinson. Ever since The Twihard Meltdown of 2012, it really feels like Robert is trying to do more “establishment Hollywood” stuff, and he’s doing it solo. Like, when he gets invited to a big industry event or a decent charity event these days, he makes it a point to show up, whereas in the past he might have ignored it. I kind of like seeing him go solo at these kinds of events – it shows that he’s interested in maintaining (and growing) his profile in Hollywood. He looks nice in tux… but his hair is a mess.
Speaking of hot messes, OMG Cameron Diaz. OMG. Just… dear God. She’s wearing Gucci, as most of the women were (for an event sponsored by Gucci). The color is horrendous on her, and the design is just… unflattering. You know what? Cameron Diaz has an amazing figure – she’s leggy and trim and athletic, and this dress makes her look saggy-boob’d, thick-waisted, no-hipped and stick-legged. This dress should be burned.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is wearing Gucci too. This dress is decent from the front, mainly because this is such a surprisingly beautiful color on Rosie. I kind of think the back and the side of the dress is a mess. Too much side-boob, too many back ruffles.
Salma Hayek in Gucci… it’s kind of boring choice for her. But she’s been having an awful style run lately, so she gets points for finding something flattering for her figure, and something that doesn’t look “too young”. I really dislike her hair, though.

Cameron’s dress is more costume than elegant outfit. But hey it’s Halloween. WTF is going wrong with Rosie’s neck. She has manly, wrestler neck.

It’s because Rosie is turning her head a bit to the side and has her chin lowered, that makes the tendons in anyone’s neck stick out. It’s just the pose and the angle.

Sparkles is trying to attend them big things now in a bid to slowly detach himself from the Twilight saga and K-Screwed.

Look at Salma’s dress again, it’s actually a really dark shade of blue. I too was like, ugh more black, but when I looked closer I was pleasantly surprised. That color blue looks really compliments her complexion, too.

but i guess in a museum where there are statues and paintings with no clothes on, this is already too much fabric.
(i’ve never been to lacma, so i don’t know what’s really in there, but i’d like to think that museums have at least one sans-clothes statue or painting)

I still love him loads. I was angry with him for a week but I am slowly coming back to where I was before. Hate that he chose to give the skank another chance but that shouldn’t define him, you know. She is irrelevant imo and I am far more interested in his projects and how he fares in them.
Lets see what happens to his relationship next year. I am hoping but not holding my breath that he will dump her but I realize that there is more to him than his abysmal taste in girls.

For Cameron she actually looks really good. I had the baby food green color of the dress but, overall, she looks good.

That was my thought too, that dress could work well on some women but not on her. Maybe on Cate Blanchett or on Rooney Mara. But Cate could wear a dress made of toilet paper, she would still look gorgeous.
Rob looks good in that suit. I find him more interesting looking than good looking. I think people are judging too much the story with the Twilight girl. Nobody really knows what’s going on. He seems a nice young man. I wish him a good and serious career after “crappy Twilight”.

Cam’s dress is he WORST… the color, the neckline, the sleeves. She looks like she isn’t wearing a bra, which she needs STAT. The Rose girl has a very thick weird neck in that photo. Her dress looks unfinished from the side color is good on her and the slit with her legs is fine. Selma looks good here am even o.k. with her hair.

Wow love the outfit but that bright yellow is a lot for a pale blonde to carry off…This would look better against dark skin. It also looks too big for her. It’s wearing her not the other way around. Cameron could wear that style in a lighter fabric, in maybe a pale pastel blue or green. It looks so stiff.

I hate that color on Cami and her hair looks awful but I give her a pass because next to Jen Aniston at least she is appropriately dressed for her age. I don’t really care to see Jen’s 43 year old boobs hanging out but that’s probably just me. Cameron’s dress is a rather unpleasant shade of yellow for any outfit. It’s not just the color though. The whole dress wears her like a traffic beacon, she is not wearing the dress. The sleeves are far too long and prominent for a short dress anyway. I don’t know what sort of dress would go with those sleeves. Apart from the color and sleeves, the dress is a nice design and fits well. Nice fabric also.

I am delighted to see Robert attending these well chosen kinds of event. It is signalling maturity and his readiness to play in the big league. Twilight will be forgotten soon and he knows that but his performance in Cosmopolis got him noticed by esteemed directors and that is more important. With regards to Stewart, well… this is Hollywood, nothing lasts. She just got lucky this time because they still have Twilight to promote otherwise, the dynamic of this story would have been different.
