By and far, the name of the evening for the LAMCA Art + Film event was Gucci. Keeping with the theme of the evening, Amber Heard wore a black Gucci dress with matching, open-toed, multi-strapped Gucci Lisbeth pumps, and the dress itself wasn’t bad at all. It was very figure-flattering, and Amber pulled the short length and sleeveless aspect off well. Now as for that “statement” necklace around her neck, I just don’t know what she was thinking. I suppose it fancies things up quite a bit with what would have otherwise been just another little black dress, right?
Amber is a gorgeous woman, and even though I’m still getting used to her with dark hair (for her role in Paranoia), she has a great presence on the red carpet. She definitely made a good choice going with an updo and bold lipstick (with matching nails) for this dress. Still not sure about that necklace though. I think if it had been missing those little “fans” at the top, it would have been okay. As it stands, the necklace is far too much of a “statement” piece.
Minka Kelly and Chris Evans both attended the event but walked the red carpet separately. Minka has certainly been embracing the maxi-dress trend lately, hasn’t she? Girl’s got such a great figure, and I’ve got no idea why she’s hiding it (cue vicious pregnancy rumors?), but this particular maxi dress is Gucci as well. She also avoided giving sideboob in manner of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Good for Minka.
Florence Welch loves her weird ass fashion, and Gucci was able to fit the bill here with this blue-violet, chiffon gown. This is a very severe look, but Florence is not a subtle woman by any stretch. Her hair and makeup are appropriate(ly weird) too, but I would have added a simple and sparkly necklace to complete the look.
Jeremy Renner was there too, bitches. He looked exactly like he always does at an event, but I’m not complaining.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were also in attendance! I don’t know who designed this spangly, shapeless, sleeveless, grey dress, but I’m guessing it was Gucci as well. Rita looks like she’s having a great time, but I can’t believe she’s gone ombre. Some subtle, all-around highlights would have made her hair look excellent. Her foundation/powder is also a bit too pale for her skintone, so she seems a bit ghostly.

I thought I would go in to this hating the necklace, but I actually don’t mind it. I rather like it, if you’re going to wear a huge statement piece like that, I think her look is the way to go. Also I love her shoes!

I think Amber Heard is a prettier version of Scarlett Johansson. Between her and Minka, they are (IMO) two of the most beautiful girls in Hollywood. Neither of them is really a thing, though. Interesting.

They are not a thing because you need more than a pretty face to make it in Hollywood. Talent is a plus and Minka is lacking in that department. I agree with you that Amber is beautiful but Minka had a little help from the plastic surgeon; google pics of her from 2005 and 2006. She’s pretty now but definetely not one of the prettiest girls in Hollywood. I live in NY and girls are a dime a dozen that look like her.

It would be almost impossible to mar Amber Heard’s perfect face; but she virtually destroyed the Gucci LBD w/ that necklace, totally agreed. The wings make it awful, but even without them, way TOO much. Are we certain that isn’t part of the dress?
LOVE seeing Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson together, but yeah…lflips said it upthread, the dress is a little age-inappropriate. Not that Rita doesn’t still look great, but I would shoot for less upper arm exposure and a longer hemline. Not body-shaming so no hate-comments, please.
With the number of long-term Hollywood marriages we’ve seen crumble recently (which is a complete contradiction in terms, I’m aware), I sure hope R & T aren’t next. Now THAT would truly give me a

I think if you are going to wear a necklace (collar embellishment?) like that, then Amber picked the right dress to go with it – keep it simple. She is a really pretty lady.
Minka looks really good, IMO. Seriously, other than her dating record – who is she? What would I know her from?

Not crazy about Rita’s dress but she is aging beautifully.

I know I’m going to sound like a total bitch, but…does Rita Wilson do anything? I know it’s stupid, because WTF is wrong with having no one gossip about the stupid crap you do and you seem to be doing a lot of things right in making a good life for yourself, but it’s not quite like that because my head just circles back to, ‘But it’s because there’s absolutely no ‘do’.’ Ugh, I’m not making sense, but I always get this odd, ‘Why are you here?’ sensation with her. Last I saw of her, she was hugely overexposing herself and congratulating herself to every interviewer in the hemisphere for sucking the life force out of Nia Vardalos. It’s–I’m awful–a milder form of what I experience with Christine Taylor, where I think, ‘Were it not for your husband, you’d be a ghost.’ Outside of one episode of Friends, she has played the same boring non-character and 97 percent of that is because of Ben Stiller. I already said I’m being a bitch, you were warned.

That ‘necklace’ is a dress, isn’t it? Something about the proportion is slightly off and makes the hips look wider. I think if it were a little touch tighter and the ornamentation started a tiny bit and stretched out a tiny bit longer it would perfect. It’s soooo close to ‘I love it!’ territory for me.

I’m not sure about no surgery, she’s super-beautiful, but she appears to have had that entry-level starlet rhinoplasty that they ALL get. Worked, though.

Amber is one of those people who can pull off white blonde, brunette and red hair. Any colour they all work. Very rare.
Rita looks ridic and needs to cut that trashy hair and stop trying to dress like a 20 something.

It’s not a necklace; it’s part of the dress. If anything, it’s not “What was she thinking?”, it’s “What was Gucci thinking?”. If you Google it, you’ll see that Gucci’s Spring 2013 collection is full of wacky necklines and neck-pieces.
I have a soft spot for her pretty face so I’m a little biased, but I really do think she looks great here.
