Also: Last time I checked, Dita von Teese starves herself just to look good in a corset, so apparently she does feel the need to conform to a standard, and therefore DOES give a f-k what people think.

If you’re going to be vain, that’s cool. I mean, I put a lot of time and effort into my own appearance as well, and I find nothing wrong with that since it’s my own business…but to praise a woman who openly doesn’t eat days at a time for the sake of vanity and then turn around and criticize other women for it just because they’re not placing that effort on the same standard is pretty hypocritical, in my opinion.

In any social culture, the wrong message is “be yourself, as long as it looks good”.

Anna, I’ll have you know, that I dress pretty goth…and I don’t look like Dita von Teese/Evan Rachel Wood. While I may not look like a Burlesque dancer, and shallow goth boys wouldn’t touch me with a ten foot pole, I take a lot of pride in my personal style. Diversity rules.

Just because I commented on the monotony of the women Manson only chooses to sleep with doesn’t mean that I look like a stereotypical generic girl. Just because I harbor a strong dislike of Manson doesn’t mean that I’m a stuck up “prep”, and trust me, next to the musicians I listen to, Manson is Fall Out Boy.

There is a certain beauty to the film-noir-like starkly contrasted glamour that Dita embodies. Life would be so dull if we were all the same

If you are an individual, then you are an individual. It does not matter how you dress or what make up you put on or what fashion mags you read. Dressing like a goth does not make you more individual and if you think it does, you are wrong! If you really were individual you would just buy the clothes that YOU like, regardless of their color or if they are featured in vogue or not! Perhaps in the olden days the very first goth was being an individual but nowadays there are so many goths that it is no longer original!

Anyway, manson is ugly. Not because he is a goth just cos he is! Look at his face!! His nose!! Eww. But I agree that he is intelligent.

All goth people look the same and look scary and people look at them and judge them so harshly. They are hardly the type you want to take home to mom. But Dita does not look like them, she is gorgeous and classy and hot. I see why he pines over her. She probably didn’t even realize what she was doing with him, she should get a regular person

I would miss her, too. Dita is absolutely stunning in person. The photos don’t do her justice. And it’s not all the lighting, etc. Face to face, she’s sweet and thoughtful. She was reading “The Case Against God” (or something) when I met her.

I just think MM is a weenie. I did, however, LOVE his remake of Tainetd Love and the video he did for it… THAT was GREAT. I just can’t be attracted to a guy who wears more make up than I do… and also i could totally kick MM’s ass with both hands tied behind my back. Not that the douchebag-frat-boy type does anything for me, either. It’s hard for me to imagine having any FUN with MM… he seems like he’d be all whiny and broody and emo.

MM is certainly no looker, but I think anyone with a contemplative mentality would be attracted to him. I’d love to sit down with him and pick his brain – he is far more intelligent than people give him credit for, largely because of how he choses to express himself (which was revolutionary ten years ago, but admittedly a bit cliched today).

It’s really fascinating how pervasive the Hollywood Schema/”Beautiful is Best” mentality is when reading some of these posts. If you don’t look a certain way, you’re obviously lacking as a human being and therefore unworthy of being loved. MM may have his own trust/relationship issues, but I highly doubt they manifest themselves in his pancake makeup and eyeliner.
