The gist of what I've been told is that JB fancied himself to be some kind of thug lovah who ditched school and roamed the streets. The Straford Truant Menace, apparently, who roamed the streets of Canada's answer to Star's Hollow. Avril was a bit older and from what I gather, she was a bit like those groups of kids who hang out in front of the city hall and bus terminal for HOURS after school every day. That's what they did where I used to live, at least. You know you're in a bit of a wasteland when the kids literally play in the traffic. You know how some people put on a disaffected affect and confuse generalized peevishness with insight and modern world alienation? She didn't bother with school too much, so she made it official when she was fifteen. She started off country, Shania Twain saw her at a mall talent show and she was re-configured with the bratty punk princess persona of today. There you go. I wonder if it’s too late to respond.

Like a long time neighbour she's known since she she moved to Napanee when she was 5 or 6 years old, greeted her with "welcome home" and was completely ignored. She just stared blankly at them and turned her back. She treats people who knew her growing up really dismissively like they are stalkers or out of control super fans rather than people from her hometown wishing her well. Napanee is small. There are only about 14,000 people and that includes surrounding areas. You can't get away with that crap without it getting around. That town supported her and were so proud and she's insulted it in interviews multiple times.
