@Annie

No-one wants Rob to be the next Leo DC. Inception was garbage, as was The Aviator, and his performance in Gangs of New York was pure histrionics.

I am also incredulous that you think Rob's reviews in Cosmopolis are "mixed to negative."

Wake up.

With that one statement you just excused yourself from the adult table.

No, Gucci would not have been better.

I am not the only one sick of this mob of nutjobs making judgements about everything Robert or his girlfriend does.

Newsflash: Nothing that they do has anything to do with you, me, or anyone else.

They are playing the game, moving on, and doing just fine. It's time these so-called fans who are, in fact, closet outpatients, moved on too.

Please stop comparing Titanic to Twilight. Titanic has some sort of substance and was based more or less off of something that actually happened (sinking shit etc.). Twilight is all FICTIONAL, made to aim at a younger demographic. Leo and Kate actually had insane amount of talent when they filmed it, and still do.

Kristen will NEVER be able to compete with Kate but Rob is in a way the second coming of Leo. Leo got better with age, and I have a feeling Rob will too. Regardless of who he works with (really, the actors make the movie, not the producers, writers etc) he does have a future lying ahead of him. He makes good film choices, he takes parts that fit him now. Even if the films don't make an insane amount of money, he's still remembered.

To Mazunte Exactly what I think! He needs time to detach himself from Twilight and to build up his acting skills. And he's choosing supporting roles to have the opportunity to work with the best - actors and directors. Contract with Dior is a good way to stay relevant and earn extra money. Anyway, expensive contracts are better than cheap PR games.

I think it is a very smart move to work with smaller independent and interesting directors after the (crappy) Twilight and take the Dior contract for the $ and prestige (it is a great brand and it has beautiful and tasteful adds). Fassbender and Gosling, for example, who are amid the best actors of their generation, had, in my opinion, some of their best performances in indie movies: Hunger, Shame and A Dangerous Method for Fassy, and Half Nelson, Lars, Blue Valentine for Gosling. They were great in Fish Tank and The Believer too. Small, indie movies give the actors more freedom and it is the best way for them to improve their skills.

Everyone's entitled to change their minds. Two years is a long time, so changing it does not make him an hypocritical.

Just my opinion...

@ernie: Pitt is one of a handful of actors who can sell anything on his name alone. I don't think Chanel will regret their investment. Pattinson is nowhere near that status yet and his public image took a serious hit when he took KStew back. Overnight he went from a likeable, sympathetic personality to a spineless tool.

Nice essay there rme.
You're just belittling C.D and I don't think there's any need to do that. It doesn't matter if everything Dior has been boring to you, it's still a fashion empire, which is way more recognizable than Balenciaga whether you like it or not.

John Galliano's one the greatest designers of his time(ita with the house dropping him like hot potato after the anti-semitic remarks)even now after all his issues, you can ask anyone in the fashion world and they'd agree with that; and his "theatrics to distract" as you call it are still consider great pieces of art.

Fashion journalists are actually very excited about Raf's work, he's brought in a minimalistic+Dior essence approach to the house that was very much needed.

B. has been more influential since its beginnings, even Christian D called him the Haute Couture Master.
B. house was established almost 30 years before Dior's, so your archive bit is nonsense.

Nicholas G. has copied too_ it took him over a decade to have a successful collection in the B. house, in the end he did revived the brand, but he's not Cristobal and he has been entirely dismissing balenciaga's characteristics, it's not Nicholas Guequierre's label, it's Balenciaga.

B. is still one of my all time favs even over Dior, (S2006 is a dream) but imo it has been a huge disappointment from f2007 onwards(I'm deciding on the last collection, but it was refreshing, mainly because it went back to its roots).

My sales bit was to point out that balenciaga is not as big in the fragrance dep as Dior. It's common knowledge that perfumes and leather goods are the cash cow of many fashion houses, in the end they're the most affordable brand products for common folks.

In my honest opinion, I thought the Florabotanica(?!) campaign was a flop creatively and artistically speaking, great idea, poorly executed. The dress has been overly used, from editorials to
campaigns, any fashion enthusiast can recognized that dress, and which kinda of belong to Jennifer Connelly.

The spokesperson choice was merely based on demographics lbr. But going from Jen C, Charlotte G, Cate B, to kstew was a huge downgrade.

I had the audacity to suggest once that he wouldn't get nominated for Water for Elephants. I mean, I was right...but I don't think I'll be suggesting anything negative any time soon. I was a little scared to be honest.
