Miley Cyrus was Nicki Minaj for Halloween, and Gwen Stefani was “Dead Sandy”?

We’re just doing an assortment of Halloween photos from various events – some of them will be from neighborhood trick-or-treating, some of them from actual events and parties. Let’s start off with Miley Cyrus showing off her Nicki Minaj costume via Twitter. Miley threw a Halloween party (which is apparently an annual thing now?) at Beacher’s Madhouse. The Cyrus Clan was there, as was Liam Hemsworth (who was a unicorn, and I would love to see those photos!) and Zac Efron, who came to the party dressed as a Brokeback Mountain cowboy. COUGH.

Here’s Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart taking Calista’s son (their son!) trick-or-treating in Brentwood. I guess they’re supposed to be “nerds”? Is there some significance to Harrison’s “Timmy” name tag?

Here’s Gwen Stefani last night in London, at Jonathan Ross’s party. Sandy from Grease/dead Hurricane Sandy I guess.

Gwen only made it to London yesterday – and she brought a costumed Zuma through Heathrow. He’s Darth Vader, right?

  2. mytbean says:

Harry and Cali look amazing…is it a Jimmy Timmy Power Hour reference? I dunno… but ♥

  3. V4Real says:

Miley looks cute. I love the fake booty. Nicki is such an animated character and Miley got the facial expressions down packed.

  4. jinni says:

    Dear Racist White People,

Do you see Miley? This is how you pull off a costume that’s supposed to be based off of a famous black person or character. Black-face is never necessary to do this.

    Sincerely,
    jinni

What I don’t understand is that people are in an uproar over Chris Brown costume(he is dressed up as some middle eastern guy), but when a white person does blackface people say its not racist, its not meant to offend people etc..

      • jinni says:

I think what Chris Brown wore is wrong as well. Middle Eastern descended peoples in this country and around the world have a hard time fighting the stigma that their all terrorists. Dressing up like this and acting like it’s cute isn’t funny at all. I’m sure part of the anger is due to the general dislike of Chris, but than he brings it on himself by constantly doing stupid stuff like this all the time.

    • someone says:

while i understand what you’re saying, i don’t really get why it was necessary to bring this up? but i will say that the makeup and the outfit really made me do a double take and i thought she actually was nicki!

      • jinni says:

It was necessary to bring it up because of stories like this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/29/university-of-florida-blackface-beta-theta-pi_n_2038326.html?ir=College

Lots of kids Miley’s age do think blackface is okay. Since the election of Obama, people have been believing this myth that we live in a post-racial America and have been using this excuse as a reason why blackface isn’t hurtful and wrong. I think having a popular, white celeb show that one can dress up as famous black person or character without blackface, is very positive.

Also, since it seems that my response to Jojo has been removed I will simply say that my initial comment was not meant for every white identified person on the planet, I don’t believe that ever white person is a racist. My comment was for those that have worn or think it’s okay to wear blackface as if it’s acceptable. That’s it.

    • T.C. says:

There are no racist costumes on this post and no “racist White People” comments. So why the need to come here and piss all over us bitch? Why don’t you take your ass to the Chris Brown post and preach to him that just because he is Black it’s not right to do racist Arab costumes and be ignorant about other cultures who aren’t Black. Your comments were completely unnessary.

      • jinni says:

There was no need to call me out of my name. If you aren’t the kind of person that would do what I was talking about than why get offended? Like I said @ someone, I brought this up because of the recent story of the blackface that took place in the that Florida college.

Also, if you go to the Chris Brown post I did make a comment on his disrespectful behavior.

      • Blue says:

Wow, that was kind of rude. There were a bunch of comments that have since been removed. I understand that you might have missed them but you could have said your piece without name calling.

      • deehunny says:

        +1 minus the bitch part

    • BrandNew says:

I agree with Jinni..the racist white people opening was unnecessary tho. Miley is rocking the Minaj. Black Face is Never Ok..it will forever be offensive

      • BrandNew says:

Also chris brown outfit is OFFENSIVE. Terrorists/ Terrorism is not funny or amusing. I wish he would crawl back under the rock he came from

      • jinni says:

I wish I could do the opening over since some have felt that I was generalizing white people. I guess I should have said “Dear people who think black-face is okay”, than maybe there would not have been so much of a miss understanding.

      • Kath says:

I really don’t think Jinni’s “dear racist white people” intro was meant to target people on this blog – but simply to address those clueless idiots (wherever they may be) who think donning blackface is funny/clever.

I’m not American or black, but I’ve been gobsmacked at some of this crap over the years. I find it especially nauseating when it comes from over-privileged tosspots like Donald Trump.

    • StopKiddingYourself says:

      LMFAO.

    • Greenieweenie says:

I get what you’re saying. If you live in the southern US, white ppl do and say the dumbest things about race. And I’m comfortable with that generalization….it’s rarely challenged. Yes, I lived there, yes, I’m white, yes, I have sisters who happen to be black so I have the pleasure of seeing it from all sides. So I agree–good for Miley for not getting stupid and making it about RACE…because frankly, black is the last thing I see when I look at Nikki Minaj. If its the first thing you see and makes your list of things you’ve gotta imitate in extremely poor taste to mimic her….you’ve got to get out more.

  5. effy says:

I think Miley pulled it off.

  6. Fyofeelings says:

    Miley killed that Nicki costume.

  7. Fyofeelings says:

Miley has the best costume that Nicki Minaj one.

  8. teehee says:

When I read the headline I thought she would show up in a space suit with a fish bowl on her head, and wax buck teeth.
Guess thats my costume for next year 😀

  9. Jessica says:

I love the bottle of wine Harrison Ford is carrying around.. kewl!!

  10. some bitch says:

    Miley’s costume is hilarious!

  11. JoJo says:

Much as I dislike Cyrus, great costume.

    • Bluedog says:

“…Miley did not do what most white people do when they dress up as someone from a different race.”

Wrong! Don’t generalize like this, please. You know and I know that “most” white people wouldn’t dream of wearing blackface. Statements like yours do NOT help the tone of the racial conversation in our country.

      • Greenieweenie says:

Actually, I think they do. Where is all the racist dumbassery coming from these days? White republicans and ignorant “REAL Amurrica” types. Way too many Senators/Congressmen. Donald Trump. Birthers. (Don’t think too hard, but yes, the stupidity over Obama’s legitimacy to hold office boils down to race). Don’t like being mischaracterized or subject to generalizations? Then call the ppl making them constantly out. But does anyone? Not really–half the voting public will still stuff one for Romney. Last I checked, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were still making millions and I can’t stand the racist/misogynist drivel that dribbles out of their mouths. Don’t like the racist world you live in? Here’s a place to start: confront white people–white MEN. They built it and they run it. Again, I’m white–just telling it like it is.

  12. T.C. says:

I’ impressed. Very good Nicki Minaj from Miley. She got the facial expression perfect. Harrison Ford and Calista are good sports. Like their costume too.

  13. shewolf says:

Hahahahaha I LOVE Miley’s costume! You can totally tell that she dressed up as Niki!

  14. Madriani's Girl says:

I just loathe that little Cyrus hillbilly.

  15. Thiajoka says:

Gwen Stefani is just as much of an ass for doing this as is Leann Rimes.

  16. Beatriz says:

Omg I love Harrison and Calista’s costumes, they look so cute!

  17. Ella says:

For a minute I was like “what the hell is a ‘a costumed Zuma’?!?

  18. G says:

LOL @ “most white people” and “racist white people”…uhhh wipe the corners of your mouth darlin you still have some shit from your shoe there.

  19. lucy2 says:

Miley’s annoying, but that was a good costume.
That kind of looks like regular Gwen Stefani with a head injury, not that different from stuff she’s worn before!

  20. woooooooop says:

I honestly believed she was RuPaul at first glance.

  21. redd says:

Seems more like Harrison and Calista escaped malnourished from a nursing home.

  22. Greenieweenie says:

At least Miley got someone who actually writes Chinese to do the characters on her arm…unlike Nikki Minaj, whose tattoo is just a hot mess of bad calligraphy and barely legible scribbles. Such a shame since nice calligraphy is an art form in China.
