Here are some of the fashion photos from last night’s CMA Awards in Nashville. I only watched a few minutes of the live broadcast last night, during commercial breaks of the Rachel Maddow Show (What? Maddow is my Forever Biscuit!). You can see the list of winners and losers here – from what I gather, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert had a big night, and it increasingly feels like they’re the “First Couple of Country Music” – a title which used to belong to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Little Big Town, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney and several other acts walked away with big prizes too.
Miranda Lambert wore Maria Lucia Hohan… I don’t like it. At all. She’s a short girl with curves, but she dresses like she’s a tall girl with no curves. I don’t get it. This dress makes her look stumpy, and I don’t think it’s the right color for her either.
Colbie Caillat looks fantastic. Great black dress, totally wearable. Miranda Lambert might want to try this style.
Here’s Carrie Underwood, who was the co-host of the show (with Brad Paisley). She wore Reem Acra, and it looked like the same kind of pageant dress she always wears. Maybe it’s Carrie who makes all of these dresses look like pageant-wear.
Hayden Panettiere in Georges Chakra Couture. Hayden was there because of cross-promotion for her show Nashville. Connie Britton was there too, we just don’t have those pics. Anyway… I think Hayden looks cute. Kind of a Jazz Age throwback vibe.
Here’s Kellie Pickler in a Pamella Roland. The dress is flattering and Kellie has a great figure. Her hair looks like that because she shaved her head a few months ago in solidarity with a friend who has breast cancer, which is a really sweet and lovely thing to do. Her hair’s in kind of an awkward stage right now, but it’s sort of cute too.

She looks okay, but she looks a lot frumpier and older than her 28 years. Maybe it’s the dress, and maybe it’s all that southern food she’s shoveling in. And her facial expression looks a bit pained/constipated.
She doesn’t look happy or comfortable.
And granted it’s only one pic but the body language between her and Blake is not the best.
She’s only 28??!! Wow, you’re kidding me!!! I don’t follow country music at all, and I would’ve put her in her late 30s.
That’s a horrible dress on her and why is her spouse wearing jeans? I realize that people involved in the country music scene want to portray themselves as “folksy and real”, but let’s not pretend that this man isn’t at a certain socioeconomic level that far surpasses his fan base. He can certainly afford to dress in a more respectful manner. His wife has to suffer through wearing a gown and he basically gets a free ride wearing jeans? I don’t think so.

Wow! Kellie Pickler looks so different. Haydens whole outfit is adorable but I don’t think it works on her, in particular. I need those shoes she’s wearing.
yes, but omg, doesn’t she looks amazing?! Never really noticed before how great body and sculpted arms she has! Plus the short hair really accentuates her facial features!
Did you see KP when she first shaved her head? She looked INCREDIBLE. She still looks amazing-she has the perfect face for short hair and she has a nice-shaped head.
I hope this thread is not going to degenerate into a hate-fest of comments about how “fat” Miranda Lambert is, how much she “needs Spanx” and how “ugly ” she is like the last thread that mentioned her did.
You don’t like her because she hunts? Fine, say THAT then, but don’t pick on her weight. And all you people that hate her because she hunts better not be meat-eaters, either.
I don’t hunt and don’t want to. But I respect people who hunt for food as opposed to hunting for sport. Enough said. Miranda dresses poorly for her figure and body type. That I think she is a bit of a tool is secondary. Girl has to learn what her body strengths and weaknesses are. She is making a classic ’20-something mistake in that she is dressing for “fashion” as opposed to dressing for her body type.

It’s funny, how some threads people bitch about people being too harsh on people’s weight, but then turn and do the same to Miranda. It’s a shame. Hate on her for things like personality, the hunting, whatever. But don’t try to preach women supporting each other in one thread, then turn around and make digs about her looks and weight just because she isn’t someone you like. It’s catty.
She’s not even big! She looks like a lot of women I know-she’s not emaciated, just NORMAL. And she doesn’t look unhealthy, which is a GOOD THING.
That being said, the dress isn’t right on her. Also, sorry but if she hunts just for the “joy” of killing an animal, then yes, she sucks. But def. won’t hate on her for being a normal, healthy-looking woman.

I completely agree. If you’re hunting for the joy of killing that makes you pretty sick. My boyfriends been in the woods off and on for the past two weeks ‘hunting’. But for food purposes. And he hasn’t gotten anything yet. I don’t think he will this year. He doesn’t do it to make a show of it.
And yes. She needs more figure flatering clothes. She’s very much a ‘normal’ looking woman.

Yeah I see what youre saying. I dont think its the dress because she’s pretty and her body is toned enough for it… but its the hair and makeup that make it look awful. The hair and makeup are way too “country.”

Miranda is just kind of odd-looking, anyway (I think it’s the huge forehead- makes the rest of her face look kind of squished.) However, that dress is terrible on her.
Miranda needs some styling help. She wore a few different outfits last night (that I saw), and the only one that looked good was the black one towards the end (and it was just a boring black strapless number, so it wasn’t “great” just not bad).
I think part of it is the hair? She parts it right in the middle which I don’t think is a flattering look for her. That’s what I kept thinking during her performance.
Hayden’s dress looked white on TV, but I like the minty color.

The halter style makes her look very wide on top. I’m sure she’s a perfectly lovely person so not being catty, but the hair and outfit make her look older than she is and she does look uncomfortable. A real smile would have helped.

I think she’s pretty and has a nice figure, she just has a weird sense of style. And as others have said, there is a big difference between hunting for food, hunting to cull a population.(I’d even argue trophy hunting to a very small degree) Running over endangered turtles and killing baby alligators for fun like these two do isn’t hunting. It’s just killing and its totally a slap in the face to actual responsible hunters.
Miranda needs a stylist, or to at least stop dressing in the most unflattering things she can find.
Everything Carrie wears looks pageant-y. I think it’s the big hair and big makeup she always piles on – she’s a pretty girl, but she overdoes it.

I really like Miranda’s dress. Not on her – I agree with your critique – but I would like it n someone else. I wish they would not have put those quilted half cones under the bust and I would have put one more ribbon in the neckline to accentuate the decolletage rather than distract with too much breast.
I like the cut of Hayden’s dress but is it sheer? i hate that I have to guess if I am looking at naughty bits or not. To me, it is not sexy, it’s uncomfortable.
I approve of your restyled dress! Maybe she chose this dress because an empire type waistline is supposed to be good for disguising one’s stomach. I don’t think she looks heavy in this, just think it’s cut too low.

These two don’t look too happy together. I’ve heard he’s cheating right and left. These two are the A-list version of Rimes and Cibrian. Breaking up marriages and now the women are desperate to keep the men and will look the other way when they cheat because they know the public is just waiting to pounce on them and tell them karma is a b*tch. Hayden is really good in the new show “Nashville” on Wednesday nights on ABC. Very good voice and totally believable as a young country star. If you haven’t checked it out it is worth a look.

The bustier portion of Miranda’s dress looks atrocious and ill fitting. I’m kind of shocked at how gorgeous Colbie Calliat looks in her minimalist plain black dress, but she looks absolutely gorgeous. I also love Carrie Underwood’s dress. I think the way she styled her hair makes it look more pageant then high fashion, though. And Kellie Pickler, as dumb as she is, has an amazing body. The dress she’s wearing doesn’t wow me, but on her body, it looks fantastic.
Miranda is pretty, but she has no neck and this halter dress only makes it look even shorter than usual. This dress is for someone tall and willowey.
I like Miranda, and the dress is not great, but I hate it that she is alway talking about drinking and getting drunk in her interviews. She sounds so tacky.
