Jude Law in character as a gross gangster/felon in London: would you hit it?

I emailed CB and told her to check out these photos of Jude Law in London. I think I might have included the words “gross” or “ew” in my email because… look at him. Jude’s prettiness has taken a few hits over the past few years, but just a few months ago, he was looking really hot again. Anyway, this was CB’s reply: “I think he still looks good! Should I be ashamed of that?” I didn’t want to say it… but yes. You should be ashamed of it!!

To be fair to poor old Jude, he IS in character. The film is called Dom Hemingway (??) and IMDB describes the plot as such: “After spending 12 years in prison for keeping his mouth shut, notorious safe-cracker Dom Hemingway is back on the streets of London looking to collect what he’s owed.” So don’t go into the film thinking that it’s about Ernest Hemingway making champagne or something (“Dom Hemingway or Dom Perignon? Who can decide?”). What I’m saying is that Jude is supposed to look like a gross mobster-type who just got out of prison. And I still would NOT hit it.

Meanwhile, I just watched the new trailer for Jude’s latest film, Side Effects. It looks… interesting. It’s another Steven Soderbergh film, and it also stars Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but everyone looks really interesting.

I would see that. It’s interesting to see Channing Tatum in this kind of serious ensemble, right? But Channing looks great, as does Jude. Rooney might be the weak link? We’ll see.

I’m also including a photo of Jude’s costar in Dom Hemingway, a woman named Madalina Ghenea. You may also know her as “the chick who is currently boning Gerard Butler.”

hahaha, no, I would not hit it. I never wanted to hit it and at this stage in his life, in this role, with his looks I praise myself for not wanting to hit it before, I feel good about my decision.

    so cheesy but YUM.

    no, absolutely not.

For once, he left the hair piece at home…

I think I am going to be sick. But if this is as good as it sounds then he may have a hit on his hands (and maybe an overdue Oscar nom). While I just have sickness on my hands.

Eek. He used to be really cute when he was younger. I know they’ve probably really fugged him up for this role, but yikes.

Sienna has actually upgraded by moving on to Tom Stu. Who’d have thunk it?

    So so gross.

I know you are not a fan of Rooney, Kaiser (I’m not a big fan neither, she sometimes seems smug and full of it, imo ) but how can she be the weak link in a movie with Channing tatum?!? He seems like a nice, cool guy and all but he is a very limited and wodden actor whereas I think Rooney is a solid actress, and she can act (I loved her version of lisbeth salander). It’s a shame she came across as unprofessional and ungrateful in several interviews. And her voice annoys me. It’s like she tries too hard to be one of the most serious, edgy, dark and hardcore actress of her generation. Kinda like Kristen Stewart… but with talent.

    Side effects looks intense!

I’m disturbed that I am spending this much time thinking about it lol. It’s the very first picture. Jude definitely seems like he has some jekyll/hyde in him.

I’m going to go with no for this look but if he had a dark side in a nice suit it would be over.

I am with you, Grace. When I get to the end of my days, I know I am going to wonder why I spend that much time seriously debating whether or not someone should be on my hit list.

I blow hot and cold with Jude. Many times its a no but then I watch him and Downey in an interview and I think “ah, they are so cute!” and then I immediately start thinking about a sandwich – and not the kind you eat.

Is this Don Hemingway trying to emulate Don Corleone or something ? Why the Brando underbite ?

  13. Kelley says:

I think he looks like General Zod from Superman! 🙂 I thought he was in character for that part until I opened it up.

  14. Happy21 says:

    Uh never!

The only time I ever found him remotely attractive was when I saw The Holiday. He was dapper and adorable in that movie. Maybe because he played a widower, don’t know.

    Side effects seems really ok.
I’ve read somewhere, that in the internet people mostly read first 2-3 lines of text and then they scroll down… So now, when no one is reading…
It’s still Jude, so I would, always *so ashamed*

  16. Alana Fajina says:

Oh my, how greasy. And the underbite? I’m giggling. Still though, and against better judgement, I’d hit it.

  17. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

    Side Effects looks interesting.

I wonder if this is Jude’s attempt to finally get himself an Oscar with the gangster role (judging by how he has ‘uglyfied’ himself for the role).

  18. Giselle says:

Is Rooney Mara in everything now? I can’t stand her.

  19. Trixie says:

Side Effects looks good, but Jude’s paunch in these photos- not so much.

Of course, yes, anytime. You have to remember he is an actor, a good one btw, trying to erase the good looking image. He is totally doing this on purpose, he wants to be recognized as an polifacetic actor not the handsome man that get the girl at the end. You wait he finish this and you will see how he changes. God, i like and respect him more.
