Kim Kardashian to learn about the Middle East in between milkshake appearances

I was pleasantly surprised when most of you gave Kim Kardashian the benefit of the doubt in yesterday’s post about her Israeli-Palestinian tweets. While Kim is definitely dumb and a famewhore, I really don’t think she was tweeting her “prayers” out of nastiness or anything. She’s ignorant, but she’s not malicious. Well, now Kim is trying to rectify the situation! She’s going to be in Kuwait and Bahrain soon (she’s promoting her milkshake line, for real), and “sources” tell TMZ that Kim wants to “educate herself” on the Middle East. In between appearances for Millions of Milkshakes!

Kim Kardashian is about to embark on a whirlwind trip to Kuwait and Bahrain … and TMZ has learned she’s hoping to educate herself on the Middle East crisis while she’s in town.

Sources close to Kim tell us … KK initially agreed to the trip to make appearances at some Millions of Milkshakes shops opening in the two countries.

But after her recent Twitter controversy — centered around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict — Kim is telling friends she’s determined to use the trip to educate herself about the political situation in the region.

As one source puts it, “Kim wants to be as informed as possible … so she can use her celebrity to help those in need and raise awareness about important issues in the area.”

We’re told Kim — who will be under the constant protection of a private security squad — has already set up meetings in both countries with local leaders.

Kim Kardashian — putting the ass in ambassador.

[From TMZ]

I don’t have any problem with Kim – or any dumb famewhore – humbly admitting that they don’t know anything about anything and that they are actively seeking to be educated on some complicated matter. I consider “incuriousness” one of the greatest sins of all, and simply seeking out education is something that should always be applauded. So, what’s the problem? This part: “Kim wants to be as informed as possible … so she can use her celebrity to help those in need and raise awareness about important issues in the area.” Girl, know your limits. You are not the Secretary of State: Famewhore Division. You are not even Angelina Jolie – someone who has been educating herself on complicated international issues for more than a decade, and who still makes mistakes and still feels the need to prove herself in that arena. Don’t fly into Bahrain for an appearance with some milkshakes and expect to come out of there like Colin Powell Kardashian.

These are pics of Kim (and a particularly Khloe-looking Kourtney) in Miami yesterday, where they received the “keys to the city” at North Miami City Hall. Ugh!

Okay, but whose pic did you use for the tagline?

  2. Riana says:

What the hell is a personal milkshake line?

Sell something you know Kim, sell a cream for yeast infections from wearing too tight pants.

    • KellyinSeattle says:

ha ha! That’s what I was thinking, though I was thinking of foot fungas medication. I doubt she drinks many of her milkshakes because she doesn’t want the Kalories. I will say, her dress isn’t as bad as usual, but who thinks they can learn about such a long history by going to the area to sell milkshakes? Are they a diet line of milkshakes? She just wants to Kount more and more Kash, but I guess her mom does that for her. Maybe Kayne can accompany her and do a benefit/charity event to raise funds and awareness, since they’re such humanitarians.

    • the original bellaluna says:

All I know is I’d have to be in Hell to drink a Millions of Milkshakes shake, simply based on who they choose to endorse (and name) their shakes.

      Seriously, Octo-Toon? The Kartrashians?

      No thanks. I’ll just die.

      Hilarious comment!!!!

She maybe slightly brainless but at least she’s making an effort. And I can’t believe how much I love her dress. This is the best she has looked in a long time.

    • deehunny says:

i was just thinking how much i like her dress too and how good she looks there.

wonder where i could get a dress like that…

The whore of Babylon(or is that Kris?) is headed to the Middle East. I already feel sorry for the people there.

I think she’s in the early stages of pregnancy. There’s a lot of extra fabric going into the midsection of her dresses lately. She’s also looking much more tired.

    • Amelia says:

Spilt my tea at Whore of Babylon!
Maybe she’ll get arrested for indecent exposure. She does know Bahrain does not look kindly on bra-less, pantless, tight-dress-wearing famewhores?

  6. LadyMTL says:

While in theory I would applaud her willingness to learn, I know from personal experience that she will get blaaaaaasted if she opens her mouth again. (Full disclosure: I’m Arab with a Palestinian father and I’ve sort of grown up learning about the various conflicts…that said, I am NOT anti-Israel, before anyone asks :p ).

The problem with KK – or any celeb who thinks that they can ‘make a difference’ in a conflict like this – is that this issue is so complex and sensitive that it’s probably better to just shut up and keep your thoughts to yourself / do your good works on the DL. She’s seen what happened with one relatively innocuous tweet, after all. Books and books have been written about the subject, and she thinks she can learn anything useful on a PR trip? LOL.

    • Amelia says:

Nicely put. With the best will in the world, I doubt anyone seriously gives a sh*t about what she has to say. And anything she does say will get pounced on and ripped apart.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, because I don’t really like him, either, but I think Kanye has been having a really positive effect on Kim. I’ve been noticing that she looks a lot more human and she’s been acting more human, too. Who knew – they might just be each others’ perfect balance!

  8. abby says:

LOVE her dress! beautiful. Her veneers on the other hand…completely change her look in certain posed smiles. and not for the better. she looks robotic and stiff

  9. Dawning Red says:

KIM: (Pointing to map) “Okay, so this is Israel, right?”

    HILLARY CLINTON: “No, that’s Canada.”

KIM: “Oooh, Canada! That’s like where I get all my fur from, right?”

HC: “Come on Kim, focus. Now over here is Kuwait”

    KIM: “How long?”

    HC: “How long what?”

KIM: “How long do I have to Kuwait there?

HC (sighs) All right, let’s talk about Bahrain instead.”

KIM: “Goody! You know, I’m always getting tweeted about that!”

    HC: “You are?”

KIM: “Yeah! Everyone always tells me my Bahrain is so fresh because I never use it! Isn’t that awesome?”

HC: “You know, maybe there’s a better place for you to sightsee instead. How would you like to visit the Gaza Strip?”

KANYE: “Strip? Hell, we’re in, b!tch!”

  10. Cathy says:

Hell, I hate to admit this but I almost like her dress. It looks good on her. I wonder who dressed her that morning? That person obviously has taste.

  11. Milouette says:

I find this claim kind of ludicrous- you can educate yourself from anywhere. What is even more frustrating is how the Arab world is always lumped together. People don’t realize that the Arab Levant and the Arab Gulf are WORLDS APART. I would venture to say that Canada and US share more similarities. Would I go to Canada to ‘educate myself’ on the US? Of course not. In short, Kim’s self-education is going nowhere… no wait, it’s going to Bahrain.

  12. Jax says:

Oh my. Is it wrong I just can’t wait to see how this goes? Between her style and her lack of knowledge of anything outside her famewhoring…..I’d actually watch her show if they film any of this. Lol.

  13. Skipper says:

When I want information on something I google it. She set up meetings with local leaders? So is she going to sit down with a local leader in Kuwait and ask him to explain Israel to her? I’m confused

  14. CatfromFLA says:

OMG, don’t feel bad that the Ks got a key from the City of N. Miami…even in FL that place is filled with corruption. It is the perfect city of the Ks to be associated with…

  15. TheOneAndOnlyOnly says:

Well said LadyMTL – this isn’t about freedon of expression = this is about a nincompoop wandering into a complex subject mostly for famewhoring – this is why celebrities, unless they’ve actually studied the issue for a period of time, should be ignored – their vanity, egoism, and detachment from life disqualify them from commentary – and pr jaunts and photo-ops won’t give them the depth and gravitas they yearn for but can’t attain.

    love that dress

  17. Lindsey says:

I think you mean Kolin Powell Kardashian…

  18. Valerie says:

Not that I am defending her; I think she’s pretty dumb. But she is Armenian and I have read stuff that she has said about her dad and her ancestry that reveals she knows the history of her roots, which involves genocide and displacement. She’s also advocated for funding and attention for Armenian causes. In her own naive, uninformed and superficial way she now seems to be expressing her care for and connection to the Middle East. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/24/kim-kardashian-tweets-armenian-genocide_n_1448805.html
