I doubt very very much he is drinking again, why be so stupid when he finally reached his goal. His Dad was a horrible drunk and he saw what it did to him and his life. Gerry has quite the life and why throw it away for booze. I think he is sober, but I do have to say, why would he hang out in clubs or bars being a recovering alcoholic.
