Renee Zellwegger, Beyonce, Cate Blanchett & Jennifer Love Hewitt

Is there such a thing as a facial expression coach? Surely there are acting coaches who can help celebrities perfect their smile for the red carpet. You know who I’m referring to - poor lemon face Renee Zellwegger. She’s just got to train herself to stop making that sour pout. Her dress, undoubtedly Carolina Herrera, is safe and decent. She looks like she’s going to a cocktail party instead of an awards ceremony.

And Beyonce is ready to play Vegas in that metallic number. Somehow Cate Blanchett makes that lace assymetric black dress with the skinny belt work. She takes calculated fashion risks and unlike - say, Gwen Stefani, she usually pulls them off.

Jennifer Love Hewitt looks like she’s going to the prom in that copper number with the big bow, but I have to say her hair and makeup look gorgeous. It looks like smoky metallic eyes and neutral lips are in. Cameron Diaz didn’t get the memo.

  2. I think all of them look atrocious:

Renee - let this be a lesson that satin can make the skinniest woman look poochy.

Beyonce - took the Golden part a little literally.

Cate - Lace and a sweetheart neckline and a belt and off the shoulder and how about an asymetrical 80s hem?

Jennifer - She’s actually attending a Golden Globes show in 1997.

  3. I love Cate Blanchett’s dress. I would wear it myself. I am, however, impressed that she could pull it off. It is an odd mix of styles, but it looks great on her.

  5. I’m not felling Cate’s dress, but she is one of the most interestingly (is that a word?) pretty woman in Hollywood. You certainly don’t mistake her for anyone else.

I know in my heart one day Beyonce will wear something that does not involve gold lame.

I really don’t know what to say about Jennifer’s dress….I think prom dress pretty much sums it up.

  10. At ease, Renee!

I actually like Jennifer Love Hewitt’s gown. It’s baroque, and it went well with her hair and makeup choices. I also love how Cate Blanchett can make bizarre outfits work (usually). Work it, Cate!
