Reese Witherspoon in a cobalt blue dress and navy blazer: adorable and professional?

These are some photos of Reese Witherspoon out and about in LA yesterday. The Daily Mail says she’s headed to a lunch meeting at a French restaurant called Bouchon. I just wanted to gush over her a little. I love Reese’s casual style and have followed her for some time. She dresses conservative yet cute and this outfit is no exception. The cobalt blue color is striking, and I must own at least 10 items of clothing in that color, probably more. (I’m pale-skinned with red blonde hair and I wear a lot of bright blue and green tones.) So I love this breezy dress and blazer on Reese with some smart low heels. She dresses in solid colors most of the time and I do that too! I’m not too into patterns or anything fancy, other than the occasional stripe or scarf. So it’s nice to see Reese out in an outfit I could see myself in. At first I thought her jacket and heels were black, but they’re both navy. It’s a thoughtful, understated look.

Also, can you believe she had a baby just two months ago? I could have sworn it was longer than that, but Reese and her new husband, Jim Toth, welcomed little Tennessee in late September, and here she is looking like a million bucks and going for a working lunch. There are photos from last week of baby Tennesee here – he looks so cute and sleepy!

Reese has one film in the can, Devil’s Knot, which is out sometime next year. The Mail reminds us that she filmed it while pregnant. She’s also slated to work on three films next year. Reese’s career as a lead actress is kind of faltering – she did How Did You Know in 2010 and This Means War earlier this year. The only movie she had out in 2011 was Water for Elephants, although that did OK. Reese will be fine, though, she has a production company and they’re working on several films. She’s a smart cookie and she works hard. Although she’s selling her Ojai ranch – do you think things are a little tight, very relatively speaking, for Reese? Maybe she just wanted a change.

I’m still kind of bummed that she’s going to star in the Gone Girl adaptation. I just don’t know if I can picture her in that role.

When I read the book I knew the movie had to be in the works. I thought Charlize Theron would be perfect as Amy;certainly not Reese. I also think James Marsden should play Nick.

She looks great. I don’t care for the blazer with that dress though. Love the rest.

She must still be nursing. She looks much more chesty than usual. πŸ™‚

Actually don’t love this look. I wasn’t ‘wowed’ by this look and agree the pieces separated would work better. But I like the blue and it’s fun to read CB’s color and clothing choices!

p.s. um, yeah, I’d imagine she’d be nursing if baby was just two months ago. i’d hope so!

Agreed, the blazer doesn’t really go with the dress. It looks like she just grabbed the blazer and put it on over the dress rather than think about it. One is business-like, the other, the dress, very different. She needs to use a different kind of cover up, but love the blue color of the dress, but I would put another style of clothing on Reese altogether.

    she is getting old.

Nice dress, but the jacket doesn’t go well with it. A light, loose coat about the same length of the jacket would look much better.

I know this is not the popular vote: I just find her so boring anymore. Yes, I clicked on the article, but I have some downtime this a.m. and I like hanging out on CB.

And something bugs me about her “cozying” up to Waity (if the rumors are true). I really can’t articulate why it does. It just does.

… the blazer and dress don’t go together and the dress looks a tad cheap … but the more important issue here is: Who makes that handbag? I need it!

She does look lovely in these photos. At least we can depend on some Hollywood actresses to live a decent life and avoid being in car accidents and/or arrested every ten days.

Any idea who makes the dress? WANT IT! πŸ˜€

It’s okay; she looks good but I don’t like the blazer, either.
