Good friends Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz went out to dinner last night in London. And to be honest, both of them sure looked the worse for wear. In fact they appeared utterly exhausted – to the point you couldn’t help but wonder why they’d left the house at all. The pair met when they costarred in the film “The Good Night” together last year.
Catching up with old friends is always a pleasure, but for Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz it seems to have left them exhausted. The actresses looked ready for bed as they left the upmarket Zuma restaurant in Knightsbridge last night.
Penelope rubbed her eyes as Gwyneth drove them home in her car, with no limousine driver in sight. And without their designer frocks and made-up faces the two were barely recognisable as the A-listers who stalk the red carpet.
The pair are old friends, and starred together in The Good Night last year. Spanish actress Penelope normally makes her home in Los Angeles, but often visits her family in Europe.
American actress Gwyneth, meanwhile, lives with her Coldplay frontman husband Chris Martin in London. This year she returned to work after taking a career break to raise children Apple, four, and Moses, two. At the time she admitted being apprehensive about going back into the cut-throat film industry.

Penelope looks much more out of it than Gwyneth, who drove them both home. She looks like she wants to curl up in the backseat and fall asleep. If they weren’t two of the most beautiful, wealthy, and famous women in the world, I’d almost feel badly for them. Gwyneth doesn’t look super tired so much as she looks angry. Maybe they were just sick of the paparazzi and doing their best to ignore them. Let’s hope they had a nice meal, nonetheless.

so good for us “normal people” who take pictures without the benefit of backlighting, wind machines, makeup artists and photoshopping that gwyneth and pene are normally privy to, to see these shots!

I for one think Penelope is weird looking. Her face looks “squished”. Gwynnie is as always looks like her old self: a bland bowl of oatmeal.

They arent tired they are HUNGRY. I wonder how much tip was left after feasting on the lettuce leaf they shared for dinner. I just know if Gwynnie had big fat cheeseburger and a side of chips it would wipe that scowl off her face! The woman is so hungry she named her kid after a piece of food!

Penny just looks bored to tears.
She looks like a duck and gwenie looks like an emaciated rabbit.
They probably go out together because that’s the closest either will dare get to “food.”

That line made me laugh. As if that isn’t true for virtually every actress nowadays. I can only think of 1 or 2 that might pass as naturally gorgeous and more so than women you see walking down the street. And they wouldn’t even really be considered A-listers.
So, two friends went out for dinner and were tired. Also irritated with the paps. The big deal is …?

Nad, I think they’re both dull looking, and just plain dull in general, but last time I checked, actresses deserved to be famous for their acting chops, and not their appearance.

but in our times…where is someone who can pull it off like grace kelly, marilyn monroe, audrey hepburn?
we don’t have this kind of filmstars anymore…it’s such a mass production in hollywood.
i’ll never have a coffee-table book of penelope cruz or angelina jolie or catherine zeta jones..i dunno…like i have of grace, mm and audrey. they are still icons and icons of their time. and what will our time left? charlize theron maybe. angelina jolie not…she has a too crazy past. not classic beauty.
maybe charlize theron is one of the less women in hollywood who have this old glamour.

Lene,true. I have no problem with Paltrow but have a problem with her trying to be the next Grace Kelly. Charlize doesn’t cut it either. The filmstars today are a product of nepotism, mostly.
I would be fine with Gwyneth and Penny being so plain if only they could act.
The closest we are going to get these days is Kate Winslet. She looks good but she should never smile. Distorts her whole face and makes her ugly.
Kate is one fine actress who has her craft nailed.
Gwyneth doesn’t belong in Hollywood and it is really starting to show. All comes out in the wash.
