These are some photos from last night’s London screening of Nicole Kidman’s new movie, Stoker. I previewed the film last year when the first trailer came out – Nicole seems to be doing a character role as “the unstable mother” in a creepy horror/suspense film starring Mia Wasikowska in the lead role (Mia plays Nicole’s daughter). Matthew Goode is also in the film, and all three actors showed up for the first screening, which is evidence that they’re all proud of the film I think. Here’s the latest trailer… God, this looks so creepy.
First, let’s talk about Nicole. She wore L’Wren Scott, one of her favorite designers (and mine), and I kind of hate it. No, that’s a strong word. I don’t hate it. I just don’t like it on Nicole. The gold turtleneck part is weird/confusing. And I’m not sure about the shade of blue. But, like all L’Wren pieces, at least the tailoring is stellar, right?
Meanwhile, we need to have a conversation about Mia. We rarely talk about her because really I don’t have much to say other than… she’s incredibly talented and she doesn’t seem to do anything scandalous or gossip-worthy. She’s not campaigning for anything, she’s not partying like crazy, she’s not boning every costar (that we know of). She keeps her nose clean and she’s adorable and talented. But… BANGS. Itty-bitty bangs trauma is the worse. Believe it or not, I don’t believe “bangs trauma” is a binary state. There are stages of bangs trauma, and this movement for itty-bitty, too-high bangs is one of the WORST. For me, it’s worse than the shaggy-dog, too-long, covering-the-eyes bangs trauma. I think girls who do these bangs look like alien Spocks. Mia’s dress is Christopher Kane, by the way. It’s blah. Also: Bonus Matthew Goode! He’s so handsome, but he’s such a douche.

I love Nicole’s look. It certainly would not look great on everyone, but she is one tall drink of water. Her hair is also softer and nicer than her past few appearances. I think the look is quite stunning.

Did anyone catch the pictures of Nicole and Keith swimming? (I saw them in the Daily Fail yesterday). She looked really good, I thought. And she was smart enough to cover up her nips with her arms when getting out of the water!

I like the dress, but the length doesn’t work. It makes it frumpy. It either needs to be floor-length or (possibly) at/above the knee.

Nicoles face is looking softer and more natural than usual…and I don’t think too many women could pull that dress off, but Nicole does…on the other hand, Mia, horrible! Hate this new bangs craze and hate, hate, hate, this new black stockings craze…she looks bad head to toe!

I like Nicole. She’s a beautiful woman and really looks good in about anything she puts on. The pictures of her on the beach with Keith I saw yesterday were great. They are a happy couple. You can just tell. They aren’t pretending. She’s got some great legs.

Kidman should give the movie making business away because she cannot act. A reality TV show, where her self-promotional PR shenanigans are documented, would be far more interesting and she may actually come across as convincing.

She has really cut down on the fillers this past year. I wish she would take her lips down a little more. She looks great in that dress.

I’m on the fence w/her dress. I sort of like the gold t-neck part but I don’t know if I like it with this dress. But without it the dress would be boring.

Mia is my fav but I totally agree that she needs help with fashion!!! She is very beautiful but hides behind bad bad fashion! All aside, I so want to see the movie so much! Mysterious, scary and it’s by Park Chan Wook!

If by softer and more natural you mean her expression is exactly the same in every single photo, and her previously non-existent upper lip is now the size of the bottom one then yeah, I guess she’s softer and more natural.
And celeb couples whose marriage is on the rocks go photo ops all the time to throw off reporters and paps. Remember they’re ACTORS – they know to pretend they’re happy together when someone is watching. Then, suddenly, they annouce the divorce.

I love this dress on Nicole. It is a nice change for her. I like her in bold colors. Simply cause she is so fair. It just brings out her eyes more to wear the rich colors.
And I agree. Her face looks better here. Maybe she did stop all the craziness.
Well except for the upper lip.
And I can not hold that against her. As long as it does not get any bigger.

Nicole’s body is amazing. I think she looks great despite the unusual neckline. Mia Wasikowska is extremely talentede but stylish she is not. I think she is the only Australian actress I can think of who isn’t!

I love Nicole…and her and her adorable husband are such a cute couple. I think they are very happy together… She is by far the prettiest, fairest lady of the land! I don’t think she has any reason to change..anything. She’s just perfect!

I just scrolled down to ask why Matthew Goode was a jerk. Never heard a word about him. Only became aware of him when he was in Tom Ford’s movie. Really, really like his looks. So I second Anonymous fan. Why?

Don’t love the dickey neck deal but the dress looks good on her. Her hair and face look much better then usual also. Going to give her a win here. Now that Mia is the worst the hair, that terrible velvet dress, those black tights, the shoes. Sooo bad. Mathew is quite handsome.
