Ben Stiller fractured his wrist snowboarding

Actor Ben Stiller was on a holiday vacation with his family in New York when he fractured his wrist in a snowboarding accident. The “Tropic Thunder” star took a spill on the slopes and was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital for his injuries. He was seen the next day finishing up holiday shopping in a cast.

Ben Stiller might be having a painful Christmas this year.

The Tropic Thunder star was rushed to New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital after fracturing his wrist in a snowboarding accident.

But his Christmas spirit remained in tact as he stepped out of Barney’s shopping centre on Madison avenue later in the day, showing off his cast and bandages.

Fans need not worry though as Ben, 42, is expected to make a full recovery in time for his next film, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, due in May.

Meanwhile, Stiller is preparing to produce and possibly star in a film version of the yet-to-be-published graphic novel The Return of King Doug, about a man who must return to the fantasy world he abandoned 30 years earlier.

[From The Daily Mail]

I’m pretty sure Ben Stiller is Jewish, but perhaps his wife isn’t and they celebrate Christmas and Hanukah. As for his injury, I’ve been skiing for more than 30 years and have never broken anything – I guess I’m lucky. There’s no way you could get me to try snowboarding – I’ve seen way too many injuries from it. Something about having your feet locked into one position just seems too risky to me.

Anyway, it’s good to know that Ben will be recovered in time to make another sh*tty “Night at the Museum” movie. Who keeps greenlighting these projects, anyway?

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are shown at The Who’s Tommy: 15th Anniversary Concert on 12/15/08. He is also shown at the opening night of Shrek: The Musical on 12/14/08. Credit: WENN

wow that header is a horrible picture of both of them lol…

on the skiing/snowboarding thing, i do both, but ive always thought it was scarier NOT having both feet strapped in one position…i always think of all the possible ways legs can go during a bad fall. my hips hurt just thinking about it lol

Ben Stiller’ father Jerry is Jewish. His mother Anne Meara is Irish Catholic. Whether she converted or not I don’t know but if not, Stiller Jr. isn’t a Jew (again, unless he converted) because the religion is matrilineal. Catholicism is too.

I used to like him, but I now he has become a bit crass.

I saw the Heartbreak Kid and he took this beautiful girl and she did a good comedic job and he still diminished her to get naked and be seen in awful compromising positions.

He is condescending on one hand but holds some lowly and far from progressive beliefs about women on the other hand.

He was holding down his hairpiece at the time.

Um, thx for your opinion, but Museum is a GREAT family movie. My 3 and 6 yr old both love it, and we can enjoy watching it with them. AND we cannot wait for the new one!!! But, maybe you will get lucky and they will make “Batman Forever and Ever and EVER…” Pretty pathetic the writer took the opportunity to take pot shots at him in the midst of a story about the man being injured…real nice.

His wife is so pretty. Remember, she was this generation’s Marsha Brady! 🙂

Yeah…I have to say that though Night at the Museum is hardly classic theatre…if you have kids? That movie is Oscar material if you have kids. It wasn’t made to impress grownups. It was made for children…and it was very well done.

dante: I was going to ask about the rug but you beat me to it. He must own one of those magical Hollywood mirrors, the ones that will show you want you want to see for the right price.

A lot of half-Jewish people do Christmas as well…as a matter of fact a lot of my full Jewish friends do Christmas. But it depends on the family, of course.

One family believes that Christmas is so secular now that it doesn’t really matter what your religious beliefs are.

Another is Russian Jewish so they are very traditional and only do Hanukkah.

Whatevs. I could never get into any winter sports; I’m a Los Angeles girl. The only snow nearby is Big Bear Lake and even then it was a question of “do we really wanna drive all the way up there with the chains and the thermals and all that or just stay down here with a lovely cup of hot chocolate and a movie?”
