@Emma,

It's not that simple, Brad Pitt is a "movie star" who got a free ride in Hollywood because of his pretty boy looks. He was a pretty boy and that's what got him through, he's also a decent actor, not great but decent enough, but with his great looks that didn't really matter in the 1990's.

We're not going to pretend he's an actor on the level of Daniel Day Lewis, Ralph Fiennes, Robert de Niro, Al Pacino, or Kenneth Branagh are we?

His breakout role was taking off his shirt and showing his six-pack in Thelma and Louise. Studios began hiring him because they knew the theaters would be packed to the gills with screaming girls. His acting ability didn't matter and like I said he's a decent actor and even managed to garner an oscar nod for playing crazy, but it's not something any other decent or better actor couldn't pull off. His acting was frequently skewered by critics but really his acting ability wasn't what buttered his bread, his looks werw what got him hired time and again. He became famous as "hunk" "heartthrob" "sexy" and that is an image he still can't shed even now that his looks are totally gone.

So are you seriously saying that a guy who skidded through Hollywood based on his good looks deserves a better A list status just because he's in movies as opposed to tv? If anything, a tv star gains more fame because they get broadcast into people's livingrooms every week and fans tend to see them on a more personal level than a movie star that they see once in a while onscreen. Friends was a bonafide hit from the start and Jennifer Aniston was famous and A list as one of it's main stars broadcast in people's livingrooms week after week. She didn't need a pretty boy to make her famous. She had enough fans around the world doing what she was doing, that's why she and Pitt became known as the Golden Couple when they hooked up, they were both already famous.

Now that Pitt's looks are gone, he's still a decent actor, even garnering some award nods here and there and some critical acclaim but still not in the class of actors that include Robert de Niro, or Al Pacino, or Ralph Fiennes, Daniel day Lewis, etc., but then again although these actors were very good looking in their youth none of them skidded by on their looks the way Pitt did in the 1990's, so he really doesn't deserve to be among them does he?

So you see it doesn't make sense to go on about how Pitt made Aniston famous just because he was an A list pretty boy that starred in movies.

I'm not a mega fan of any of the three of them, I like some work they've done and I don't like some work they've done. But anybody who is even slightly objective about it can tell you after the breakup Angie was vilified as the home-wrecker and Jen was portrayed as the victim earning her a lot of good will and sympathy. Really, Brad the one who actually cheated on his spouse is the one who somehow gets off without any judgement good or bad and that's the real issue. Jen did very well the first few years after the breakup, but she allowed her PR team to continue presenting her as a victim far longer than people could tolerate it and that's why there was a backlash.

Aaaaand....a Brangeloonie proves my point. No one on this thread has said anything bad about either Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt, who are both talented people entitled to their own lives. That being said, I enjoyed your response. The demented and completely thorough intensity of your devotion to one and hatred of the other is what makes the gossip threads worth reading.

She looked really uncomfortable at the oscars, and the dress she wore was not her normal look was a bit flared at the waist. I think she is pregnant, probably why she wants to be left alone

@Jenna ...

You 'do' understand the difference between A-list TV Personality and A-List Movie Star/Screen Actor, don't you?

I repeat, Jen was famous for her hair. Critics voted her one of the worst new TV actresses two years in a role when "Friends" premiered. Don't make it more than what it was.

so Summer are you saying you don't believe Jolie has done these things?

Or are you saying people shouldn't describe the things she's done?

Or does it just bother you that people are inspired by Jolie's work?

@Madchen, who wrote: "I’m not a even fan. I just remember that she got mildly teary during one interview shortly after her split which was eons ago and it’s been diminished media returns for her ever since."

But that's just it, and thank you for once again proving my point. Jen didn't get 'mildly teary during one interview shortly after her split,' because her split happened in 'January' 2005 and she got 'mildly teary' in a couple of interviews during July, August, and September 2005 ... months after her separation and after she'd already began a relationship with another man.

Doesn't that strike you as even a little bit disingenuous?

And no matter how much you guys try to re-write history for her, with all the archives at Blogs and Internet sites, there is 'no way' you can convince people that Jen was 'picked apart' and treated badly right after her divorce. She road a long wave of goodwill and sympathy after her divorce.

The backlash didn't even begin for Jennifer Aniston until shortly after her 'second' breakup with John Mayer. Do you totally dismiss how Angelina Jolie was treated by the press, Blogs, Internet sites during that time??
