Kathy Griffin’s 2009 may be A-list

After picking up her second Emmy this year for her reality series “My Life on the D-List”, Kathy Griffin is looking forward to a busy new year, starting with her New Year’s Eve co-hosting gig on CNN. She’ll be with Anderson “AC” Cooper, as she was last year. “My Life on the D-List” is currently shooting the fifth season, so hopefully there will another “guest” appearance by Cooper, who, by all appearances, takes Griffin’s heckling in stride.

But a stolen New Year’s kiss with the Prada-clad Cooper isn’t the only thing Griffin has to look forward to. According to Radar Online, she’s in final negotiations for her own Bravo talk show.

Self-deprecating comedienne Kathy Griffin has teamed up with TV Land producer Michael Levitt for her latest Bravo reality show.

“It’s going to be more celebrity-oriented, with a bit of a talk show element,” the rank-rising star spills. “And ‘good’ celebrities!”

Griffin is currently finishing Season 5 of My Life on the D-List, her career rebooting show that finally earned the 48 year old a couple of Emmys.

[From Radar Online]

“My Life on the D-List” is one of the few reality series that has a message beyond mindless consumerism and celebrity. On the show, Griffin has traveled with the USO to Iraq and Kuwait, she’s taken her stand-up act to a women’s prison, and in the devastating season finale of the fourth season, she visited Walter Reed Hospital, spending time with wounded vets and their families, and giving a stand-up performance. She cried, and I cried. She’s at her best when she’s around non-celebrities, but I still think that a Kathy Griffin talk-show revolving around celebrities could be hilarious.

umm, i disagree. No A-list here. Maybe C-List. A-List is more Kate Winslet, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon. Ya know, Oscar winners? Could you see Kathy G sitting at a table w/ them? hahaha that would be strange

I LOVE her and have tremendous respect for her (to qualify this I am a very conservative devout Catholic who supports the war). Despite her personal feelings on the war, she has put her ass on the line, literally, and doesn’t come off as someone who is doing it to support her views on the war. She just does it. She is hilarious and pretty damn awesome.

Having said that, what is up with her hair? I love the color but sometimes the style is REALLY off. She is gorgeous otherwise but I wonder if she teased her hairdresser a little too much.

I adore Kathy Griffin. I think her show is fabulous and she does seem like a woman just trying to get in on any list, much less the A-list.

I think if her talk show gets a greenlight and is successful, she’ll be higher up…perhaps the B-list?

I remember in her stand-up she made fun of Gwenyth Paltrow and trying to talk to her as she looked for someone else more famous to talk to. I’d almost would want to see her do that again, but Kathy almost annoys me because she looks like an evil trannie with a huge honker. Sorry, even her voice annoys me! There’s no way she’d make it to the A-list.

I used to be so annoyed by her and now I love her. She has a lot of guts yet is vulnerable and open. She deserves good things to happen to her.

Someone who tells it like it is IS an A-Lister.
She gets my vote, and my watch if she gets another show as well…
