Her comments are always intelligent, humorous & not at all judgemental. Your health situation may be different, pregnancies vary. I’m happy for you things worked out the way they did, but just dial it down a few notches.

It is common for doctors to advise waiting a bit of time with c-sections before getting pregnant again, a year is the standard caution (I was told this after both children). That is just to give the uterus time to properly heal and to avoid the risks such as the incision not being fully healed and splitting open…that can cause a need for a hysterectomy. It has happened…so it is wise to give some time for healing.

As far as someone commenting that all ‘emergency’ c-sections having a vertical scar…that is simply not the case any longer. The type of incision is different for different reasons. My 1st section was emergency as my daughter was stuck in my pelvis and the labor had gone on 85 hours (back labor to boot) and there was no progress. She was becoming distressed…I have the standard bikini incision. I have a friend who is quite heavy that had to have an emergency c-section and hers was vertical..but that was due to her overall body size. From what I’ve read, with those who are heavier it’s easier with a vertical incision…the drawback is that it is harder on the uterus overall and does lead to a higher risk pregnancy in the future (from what I’ve read). Either way…it doesn’t take longer to do a bikini than a vertical incision…so being scheduled or emergency has no bearing on what type of incision it is.

How smug and self satisfied you sound. Does it make you feel superior to me by only gaining 10 lbs with your pregnancy? I wonder if you were overweight to begin with, for an OB to go along with a 10lb weight gain per pregnancy doesn’t sound quite right to me.

My starting weight with my youngest son was 122lbs. He was my 5th child (he is now 18) and I never had GD with any of my other pregnancies. My GD may have been unhealthy, but hardly pathetic.

I pity you Kiddo, you sound like an unhappy, uptight, blazing bitch to attack me with such fervor.

I don’t understand what you’re saying. “Up and down” is vertical.

And @sunny222– just because your GD was mild doesn’t mean women with severe, often life-threatening cases “don’t take care of” themselves. That’s a pretty broad stroke to paint, and just kind of a nasty snipe. Be grateful you’re having an easy time of it and don’t blame others whose experiences differ from yours. GD is controllable unless it isn’t, just like regular diabetes.

You would have seen the weight in her face, ass, hands, feet, arms, not just her abdomen.

I had GD with my last child, he weighed 12 lbs at birth and I gained over 100 lbs with the pregnancy. My son weighed more than my sister’s twins put together. I went up 2 shoe sizes, couldn’t wear my wedding ring from my 5th month on. Just walking up the stairs was very difficult.
