Only the force major factor is totally unpredictable by the authors. The authors has admitted club. One of the most inspiring stories I ever read, was how the authors taught 14 people who had never traded before, to trade successfully in just two weeks.

They probably had a lot of money but wanted more.
So rather than sticking with something safe but lacking the sizzle of Madoff’s scheme (like treasury notes) they took a higher risk and ended up losing.
I’d guess they still have more money than most people and she must be earning big bucks.
Surely their real estate is valuable so I don’t think I’m gonna lose any sleep over their loss.
