Angelina Jolie talks warzone rape at the G8 conference, hobnobs with diplomats

Yay! I’m deliriously happy that we finally got some photos of Angelina Jolie in London yesterday, at the G8 Summit. Angelina went to the G8 probably at the invitation of her new BFF, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague. Angie and Secretary Hague recently traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo together (and Rwanda too) to raise awareness of warzone rape. They also spent time together last year working on the same issues and initiatives – rape, sexual abuse, women’s rights, etc. I think it’s a very smart collaboration for both of them.

Before he traveled to South Korea for an emergency diplomatic mission, our new Secretary of State John Kerry was also at the G8 conference and here’s a weird/funny shot of Secretary Kerry and Angelina looking at a spider or something. I think she’s like, “Dude, you kill it.” And he’s all, “Girl, you’re the Tomb Raider, you kill it.”

To get serious, Angelina is doing such wonderful work and she’s such a wonderful, well-spoken and effective advocate for her causes. I know that sounds so fan-girl-y, but seriously. I just watched the video of her speech, and I think she’s a better and more effective speaker than most professional politicians. Plus, she looks great in pearls.

PS… In the video, who is the dude standing behind Angie’s left side in the blue tie? He’s checking her out.

    Beautiful, inside and out

    • watchingyoubitch says:

      I love her !

      • Melissa says:

        +1

        I have always been Team Angie. I wish she would gain some weight, there’s an issue going on there but I like her.

      • Brie says:

        There is something fake and insincere about her. I guess I don’t believe that people can change that much. From attention loving egomaniac to full time job humanitarian. I don’t buy it. Her star lost shine so she found another way to be in the spotlight.

      • Lara says:

        Brie, she has been doing this for 12 long years. Its not like she suddenly started doing it. She has been doing this longer than her short wild child phase. Her star never lost shine at all. And do you really think the likes of Nelson Mandela who respect her and promoted her to Envoy can’t spot a fake? Come on, give him a little credit. I’d also like to know how you think she has changed ‘that much’. She hasn’t changed at all. All she has done is grow up, like we all do, and start doing something worthwhile. Its certainly not at odds with her before. I wonder if you’d like to be forever judged for the things you did in your teens and twenties. Are you really that stubbornly stuck in the past that you cannot grow, either? Perhaps you should let go of the past and move and grow as a person because you come across as incredibly immature and emotionally and intellectually stunted. Newsflash. Shes no longer a teen. Shes what, almost 40 years old. Perhaps you should try growing up, too.

      • flan says:

        Well said, Lara.

        She has been doing it for a long while. I’m sure Angelina doesn’t care about those who try to throw shade on her charity work. Glad she’s not so vapid that her whole world evolves around whether or not other people have had nose jobs.

      • Annette says:

        I love Angie but I hate how people are so very *bothered* by things like her weight or whether she uses botox and every little mistake she might have made when she was younger. Why are people so personally invested in someone else’s weight or someone else’s FORMER drug issues? Her weight has been stable for years and to me her personality is the same as always just matured from her teens/20’s. Guess these things are just part of Angelina so people need to deal with it. Thin legs can be genetic, and if you have them, unless you become obese or work out 24/7, you are stuck with them.

        And I agree, Lara, this is something that’s ALWAYS been close to Angelina’s heart, even in her wild child days. It didn’t come out of nowhere, so why do people insist on calling it a phase, just for attention, or just trying to look saintly?

      • Lishka says:

        I used to be a raver, a tweaker, an irresponsible teenager who snuck out of the house, suicidal, cutter, an alcoholic, a smoker, lying about grades and generally flunking out in life.

        I’m 36 now, going to be 37. I’m married, I have 2 beautiful kids, a third on the way, I have worked in finance, managed 2 teams at a dot com, I wakeboard, I volunteer and raise money for an orphanage in Nepal, I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, I help out at my kids schools, I help others in my community. How the hell can someone pass judgement such as “people don’t change” unless they have seen and experienced so little good or bad in their lives?

        It really defies logic and reason how people think someone would put themselves in such tremendously life changing, life altering situations as seeing first hand the victims of rape and abuse and not want to do something, anything, to help and to not be thinking”oh yeah, this will make me look good!” Really?

        It’s so narrow minded and shortsighted to even say something that petty.

    • Jocelyn says:

      I love the work she does.

      To every hater on here who says this is for PR.

      She has been doing this for over 10 YEARS. She was adopting children and doing this kind of important work before she ever met Brad Pitt.

      This is real and she is very committed to her charities.

      This is why I can’t stand people like Chelsea Handler who call this woman evil. I mean are you for real?

      She is not perfect. She has made huge mistakes in her life but she is trying to make a real difference.

      I can’t say the same for Chelsea or her other cronies.

    • littlestar says:

      Yep, I agree. I just love this woman. I respect and admire her so much.

      • bigt says:

        She speaks very well and is obviously committed and serious about her humanitarian work. What’s not to love and admire. Is anyone at 35 the same person they were as a teen or 20 something? I hope not.

    • Sara says:

      All the men she’s been involved with were married when she met them. I also don’t understand what an actress is doing at the G8 conference. I find it laughable.

      • deedee says:

        You find it laughable because you won’t take a few minutes of your time to actually read about what was she doing there and why. That is your loss.

        The other thing about all the married men, I’m not even going to comment on that because I find it laughable.

      • Lin-Rachelle says:

        Celebrities make good ambassadors. Look up Shirley Temple Black and Audrey Hepburn, both were actresses and represented the US during important types of meetings/gatherings. It’s nothing new.

      • Mairead says:

        There are far greater evils in this world than that.

        Even if that was a far greater crime than genocide, systematic rape and war, your statement is factually untrue.

      • Malak says:

        She is also the UN refugee agency’s special envoy, and she made the movie “In the Land of Blood and Honey,”
        which is about (covers) rape during war.

  2. Vee says:

    Love her and the work she does. Well done.

  3. Lucia says:

    it looks too much like a movie to me. Look the part, dress the part, play the part.

    • Janet says:

      Of course it’s impossible she could be doing this out of genuine conviction, isn’t it? 🙄

    • Guesto says:

      @Lucia – Except it’s not a movie, is it? It’s an all too real barbarity. But yes, she is playing a part, a vital one, in putting women and children’s right to not be raped and sexually abused at the top of the international agenda.

      • watchingyoubitch says:

        Amen

      • Nessa says:

        @Guesto – well said.

      • guilty pleasures says:

        Well said, how in the world can we hate on anything about this? She looks too good, sounds too good? Really?
        So very much behind her on this stand she does not have to take. She could easily sit back and bask in the joy of her big family, oblivious to the horrid pain in the world.
        (snark-Bethany Frankel may want to read this article, although she is going through the worst thing in the world, poor thing).

      • The Wizz says:

        Brilliant!

      • Malak says:

        Exactly! Perfectly said.

    • rachel says:

      I with people could say what they think without getting attacked personally. I know people feel passionately about Angie, esp lately but it bums me out that people without anything but the highest praise get jumped on.

      • Jenny says:

        No one personally attacked the first poster. They were just responding. This is an online comment board; I think the whole point is to respond to others’ posts.

      • Guesto says:

        ? Not one person above has attacked another poster for their opinions, merely disagreed with the perspective put forward. This isn’t to do with Jolie being a saint, just that her commitment to this and other human rights issues concerning women and kids has been consistent and unswerving – the evidence is out there – which makes the suggestion that it’s insincere or for effect a strange and contradictory one.

      • rachel says:

        Sorry- Jenny and Guesto-I stand corrected. I was confusing this post with something lower down that I thought was not so nice. I shouldn’t be skimming and posting anyway- back to work

    • LAK says:

      @Lucia – Perhaps no one impressed upon you the idea that you should dress appropriately for the occasion you are attending.

      Everyone is dressed seriously here. Should she have rocked up in jeans and t-shirt, tattoos on display?

      We are all in a movie in that sense, dressing for a role to put across how we want to be perceived.

      It’s ridiculous to criticise Angelina on this point unless you attend all occasions in your life whether work/extra curriculum activites dressed anyway you like without considering what would work in each environment.

      • Eve says:

        @ LAK:

        You shouldn’t be surprised by that: they will criticize her for breathing.

      • LAK says:

        @Eve – i was just thinking how hard it has been for Angelina to get the calibre of people like William Hague to take her seriously.

        Hollywood actors jumping on the charitable good causes and being made UN Ambassadors are ten a penny. How many of them stay the course, educate themselves beyond what is required for the photo ops, and get the true PTB to take them seriously that they will agree to be seen together?

      • Eve says:

        @ LAK:

        You’re preaching to the choir…

        I just don’t bother trying to argue with these people anymore. It’s simply pointless.

      • Amelia says:

        Nicely said, LAK.
        I think I’ve lost count of how many ‘UN Ambassadors’ there are kicking about. The only ones I can think of who have stayed the course are Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Tom Hiddleston (the cynic in me says it’s a little too early to tell, but at least he seems to be committing) and Angie. She’s a UN High Commissioner though, isn’t she? I’m sure that title doesn’t get bandied around the office too often.
        “. . .and get the true PTB to take them seriously. . .”
        I’ve been trying to figure out what PTB stands for. Gah. I’m having such a thick day today.
        Final note: there’s something about William Hague getting mentioned on C/B that makes me quite happy 🙂 I’ve got a strange soft spot for that man!

      • LAK says:

        @Amelia – PTB = Powers that be ie the people with the real power to make things happen. Until they take anyone seriously, it’s all just PR but nothing substantial will happen until they are directly associated with it.

        i have a soft spot for Hague too.

        And you are right about her title. it’s alot more substantial than the ten a penny ambassador one they keep handing out. At the rate they hand out those, you and i could be the UN Ambassador for whatever we fancied!!!

      • Malak says:

        @Amelia – Angelina was one of the UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassadors until its High Commissioner, Antonio Guterres, made her their Special Envoy.

  4. Lucy says:

    Who can blame the guy in the blue tie, if I was there I’d be checking her out too, and I’m straight

    • Josephina says:

      This guy truly has a one track mind. It is truly incredible that his tongue is wagging in the midst of a speech about rape. The horny smirk on his face says it all.

      I feel for his wife.

      • Eli says:

        Oh, don’t pity her. Kerry is married to the Heinz Ketchup heir!

        And like all politicians, I am sure, if not positive, that he beds whomever he wants! They are all just a bunch of ho’s!!!

  5. Eve says:

    This is the sort of awareness/campaigning Kate Middleton should be involved in…

    … oh wait, it doesn’t involve barrel curls. Nevermind!

    • It is ME!! says:

      Boom.

    • The Original Mia says:

      All the cookies for you!

      E! actually had the nerve to compare these two. There’s no comparison between the Duchess of Sausage Curls and Angelina. None at all.

      • Zimmer says:

        Exactly and the sad thing is, one would expect their roles to be the reversed. I love Angie, Kate should emulate her, though I doubt she’d ever have the same passion. Wonder if that might change a little when Kate has her child.

    • Miffy says:

      Excuse me, the Duchess has a devastatingly busy schedule of going on vacation and getting photographed in a bikini and then complaining about it. There’s no TIME for ending warzone sexual abuse.

    • LAK says:

      Stop being a jealous h8ter! Kate Middleton is very,very busy. She is so busy that we can’t actually point to what she does, but we can assure you that she is busy!

    • Eve says:

      [replying to myself, shut up]

      I was thinking about this some more – Waity would have a larger audience, more influence and ‘push’ surely than Angie? Possibly one of the largest audience in the world.

      And how does she deal with having such an audience? Grinning, waving and er, gestating.

      Eh, I’m not here to slam Kate, just wishing a woman in her position would take on an important women’s rights cause. She is one of the very few of us who could actually make a difference to the lives of people around the world. Imagine if her and Angie worked cooperatively on a cause?

      But no. Gosh, no. There’s coat hemlines to shorten and a prince to smile at >_>

      • TLC113 says:

        So well put!

      • LAK says:

        I think the people who gripe about Kate’s work ethic are in the same camp as you. She does have a bigger audience than Angelina. and she does nothing with it.

        I always have the same thought every time i see an Angelina thread on her charity work.

        It’s such a shame.

      • ya says:

        If we’re criticizing Kate, why not the Queen? Has the Queen done anything since WWII besides provide a symbol for people who want to wallow in nostalgia for British imperialism?

    • ya says:

      I don’t think there is any way Kate Middleton could get involved in this kind of thing – the monarchy would never allow it. Diana only started working with land mine issues, for instance, after she divorced Charles.

      And that’s not even considering whether it would be hypocritical for Kate to get involved, considering the history of the monarchy as an institution.

      • LAK says:

        The Monarch has a real job that can be recognised as a job that requires daily attendance just like a civilian ie The Queen has a job.

        Her public appearances are exactly that, not necessary to her job except as PR exercise. It was originally devised by the late QM to burnish the position of the royal family during the war. That often quoted statement,’I need to be seen to be believed.’ points to the true motive of her appearances.

        That said,The Queen does have a few charities that she is patron, that she is active with behind the scenes. My personal favourite is the WRVS [Women Royal Voluntary service] which looks after old people.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRVS
        http://www.wrvs.org.uk/

        The rest of the family don’t have jobs. They can’t have jobs because they aren’t heads of state.

        Only the direct heirs are slated for that role so one could say that they are apprentices.

        The Late QM [again], insisted that rather than party and enjoy themselves like the Duke of Windsor to such disastrous consequences, and to show how different and responsible Bertie was in comparison, made her family take up charity as duty and vocation to justify their position and of course to burnish it.

        Since it’s a newly made up construct, they have to decide how far they can push it. Diana showed how it could be done. AIDS and Land Mines were regarded as hot divisive potatoes with shades of politics. She changed people’s attitudes and led to the passing of worldwide resolution banning use of landmines. She changed conversation from the politics of the situation, to the humanitarian aspect of it. She also changed the way royals should work so that it isn’t just a photo op in a new frock. This is what Angelina is also doing.

      • ya says:

        You say that Diana showed how it could be done, but what was the Queen’s opinion of Diana and her work?

        I’m sure Kate ended up in her position because she doesn’t ruffle feathers, and I’m assuming the Queen likes it that way.

        As far as the Queen’s charitable works, as a person who comes from a country colonized by the British, I really can’t say that I have any respect for what the Queen – and the monarchy generally – stand for.

  6. watchingyoubitch says:

    What an amazing woman

  7. just saying says:

    the dude standing behind Angie’s left side in the blue tie is Laurent Fabius, French foreign affairs minister.

    he is a bastard with a criminal past of cantaminated HIV blood he allowed to be used during the 90’s. And of course he was not condemned.

    Oh and he is a friend of Dominique Strauss Khan, he covered his ass.
    Check him up on google

    • LAK says:

      This is where that privacy law pisses me off. SO much of what these people do is kept out of the public information for dubious reasons all swept under the umbrella of privacy.

      And we are all so much the worse off for it.

    • loganski says:

      Not only is he checking her out, he looks as if he’s bored with her speech. It looked to me like he almost had a full on sneer at the end. It is such an important cause that needs to be addressed globally. He looks like he thinks it is unimportant. Very sad.

  8. Eve says:

    I love her.

    • Eli says:

      We know… You gush continuously!!

      • zut alors! says:

        You sound oddly peeved. You do know that reading the comments on these posts is not mandatory, right? How does Eve’s gushing of Ms. Jolie impact you in any way?

      • Eve says:

        I love her!

        I. LOVE. HER!

        I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE HER!!!

        P.S.: I love her.

        P.P.S.: I love, love, love, love, love, love, love her.

      • Mairead says:

        Tell us, how do you feel about Angelina Jolie? 😆

  9. lama says:

    Well good now, since Jolie has solved the worlds refugee problem all by herself, and has now stopped any and all rapes on women in war torn areas. Now wars will stop also. Everything is going to be sunshine and roses, and the clouds will part and the sun will shine all the time….and angels are going to come down from heaven and annoit Angelina a saint.

    We should all bow at her feet.

    • Lulu.T.O. says:

      What a completely useless attitude. She is donating her time, away from her family, to bring a spotlight to these heinous goings on. If you hate for that, you are lost.

    • DeltaJuliet says:

      So, by your logic, it’s better to stand by and just do nothing? Interesting…..

    • doofus says:

      seriously…how can you bash someone for DOING GOOD?

      I’m not even a “fan” of hers (movie-wise) but I think the humanitarian work she does is admirable.

      • Diana says:

        Right? I’m not a fan, nor a hater, but I think it is pretty undeniable that her charitable work does make a difference. She is not claiming -no one for that matter- that she is the solution to all problems in the world but she is trying to be part of that solution. Is that so bad?

      • Asiyah says:

        Word, doofus. Not a fan girl by any means but I will not hate her for this!

      • TLC113 says:

        +111111

        I’m not a big fan, probably because she is way too skinny and beautiful and successful and I am just horribly jealous, but how can ANYONE knock her for doing this?

        OMG, if only everyone with such influence, and money, and time would contribute half as much. I do not understand what else people expect her to do? She is an actress who uses her acting talent to make lovely speeches about important topics. She supports worthwhile causes with her time, energy, and money, and she raises awareness for issues that the average person probably doesn’t have time to learn about.

        I say bravo AJ, although I may be even more of a bitter Betty and less of a fan now 😛

    • spinner says:

      Amen.

      • Lio says:

        Hyprocrite.

        You bow at JA’s feet for simply suntanning and talking about her hair.

        You are a fan of the most superficial and vapid celeb and dare attack AJ for not just tanning at her pool.

    • Hipocricy says:

      At least she is doing something worthy while you sit on your chair, protecting by your anonymity criticizing someone doing goods to other women.

      Don’t expect us to bow down to your childish ignorant jealousy rooted rant.

      Do something valuable and we will applaud too since apparently it’s all that matter to you.

      If not, just : boooo to you !

      • Maggie says:

        I don’t think Angelina would appreciate a fan like you. So what if someone doesn’t appreciate her the way you do. That doesn’t mean you should lower yourself to such a standard that you attack another person. I think this is why some people actually dont like Angelina Jolie. Because she is put on a pedestal by her fanbase and they attack anyone who has an opinion that may be remotely different. Personally I think she’s doing this because she does care, she’s sincere. All women should be passionate about this cause.

      • EmmaV1 says:

        @Maggie, no, actually the problem is people like you. Nobody has gotten into personal attacks, they’re just pointing out ignorant, apathetic, vile statements like the ones stated above.

        None of Jolie’s fans think she’s perfect or a saint. They admire and appreciate the enormous amount of time, work, and money she’s donated to causes.

        Whether genuine or not, she’s making much more of a difference than celebs people love like Jennifer Lawrence, Aniston, etc. This isn’t an attack on above mentioned, but it’s undeniable that they get less hate than Jolie and contribute less to society.

    • Miffy says:

      Yeah, f**k her, no one should do anything for other people ever. Sort yourself out, Jolie. *eye roll*

      • Absolutely says:

        Yes, Angelina needs to get to shopping & tanning asap if she ever wants to be liked. After that, she needs to hit the fashion shows and some hotel/store openings and she then could possibly be loved. Also, she needs to stop repeating outfits and stop with the hand-me-downs for her kids. The fancier your kids dress, the more you will be liked! Funny thing is, Angelina never says anything bad about anyone (unlike so many in Hollywood)- she just lives her life, loves her family and doesn’t hurt anyone (unless it’s on-screen). Sad that her example/attitude is so unique.

    • Bird says:

      Lama, this cracked me up :-). Some people really do suffer from blind Angie worship.

    • Lara says:

      You need serious help lama….

    • Tiffany :) says:

      The G8 took time to address the issue and pass a resolution. While it doesn’t solve all problems (obviously), it is still a huge step for it to be made a focal point.

      I think you made a straw man argument. No one (especially not Jolie) was suggesting that all the wars and all the assaults would suddenly stop.

    • flan says:

      People throw shade on anyone doing good because they feel jealous of the attention goodness gets.

      Doing something good as well is too much work for them, so they try to erase the goodness with their vile comments. Instead of making themselves better, they try to pull others back to their low level.

      Lama’s last sentence makes clear that is the case with her too. She’s preoccupied with the admiration Jolie gets for her charity work, and can’t care less about any other aspects of it.

      • moneyinthebananastand says:

        You’re right. It’s completely mental to question the motives of a movie star. To wonder why she does it and why people lap it up. To question it means that you lead a barren life full of sorrow and jealousy. To question it means you can’t have love or charity towards another human being. It’s impossible to question. You all have iron-clad proof of her wisdom and kindness. You all know her personally. To deny this is to question the universe you live in. I’m glad that lama has revealed her true nature here. Now I know to avoid lama on the street. I’m sure she’d hurt me if she had the chance. *massive eyeroll*

    • Leen says:

      Evidently, you’ve never been in a conflict zone before.
      well I’ve lived in one for over 18 years, and my people are one of the largest refugee population in the world (4 million actually, although admittedly they are covered under the UNRWA agency and not UNHCR). So I appreciate the efforts of a celebrity like Angelina Jolie bringing light to these problems and educating the people around her about the refugees, conflict zones and in this case rape as a war weapon.

    • Trillion says:

      That’s a childish reaction. By these standards, nothing should be done unless results are 100% effective and immediate. Please, rethink that one. Change is difficult and takes time, commitment and bravery from many people. The public needs to be informed and inspired by those in a position to do so. Otherwise, change cannot happen. We should all be thankful to the people who do not sit idly while injustices prevail. I can’t even believe this needs to be explained.

  10. doofus says:

    yeah, but which ring was she wearing?!

    I kid, I kid…

    great work she’s doing…

  11. yeahright says:

    This is the best she’s looked for a good while! Not that she ever looked remotely bad she just goes from stunning to jaw dropping to beautiful and back.

  12. Bacon! says:

    Comparing this story(and this woman) to the other stories(and people) on the front page, wow. Just wow.

    An amazing woman doing amazing work – this is who young women today should be looking up to, not fame-grabber Kim Kardashian, or ungrateful, eye-rolling Kristen Stewart.

    • JenD says:

      This.

    • beatrice sparkplug says:

      I usually escape to Celebitchy as a respite from the news, but have come to view Angelina’s work as so valuable not just in conflict areas which are spreading like disease throughout the world, but also here, in bringing awareness to people who glom up gossip but avoid the news for whatever reason. It’s really hard work she’s doing. And yet, people will choose to focus on her appearance or the seeming incongruity of her career and this kind of work and avoid her message. She is working with a bunch of war criminals to make change, the G8 is not the world’s wealthiest because they’re the most humanitarian, but whatever it may take to stop the sanctioned rape of children and women is worth pursuing.

      • beatrice sparkplug says:

        Actually, I usually forget she’s an actress and primarily view her as a celebrity activist. This is where her real talent lies, in my opinion.

      • Hipocricy says:

        People forget that she has two professions : actress and goodwill amabassador, high commissionner for refugees. Her professional status is on par with an ambassador passeport wise. She has immunity.

        Her activist activities have been done relentlessly for years while she has become a part time actress relagating her first profession behind her UN activities.

        She is there in the framework of her function as a High commissioner for refugees not as an actress.

    • Allie May says:

      I agree, Bacon, she is worth looking up to. She has worked hard for human rights.

    • Lara says:

      Amen

  13. AngelinaTheGreat says:

    I wonder how long until the morons come & bring her UN work down to just being PR. Her mother will be so proud if she was still around. She’s done so much.

    • cs says:

      Angie been doing this work non-stop for 12 years now, since she was 25 years old. PR?? Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, Ashton, Drew and Melanie Griffith.. all these people talked about their causes and helping but where are they now?? Angie is the only one that walks the talk. She is the modern day Audrey hepburn and more so.. I see her continue this work until the day she dies. Yes, she’s my “girly Girl”..

  14. Missy says:

    I find it strange someone smirking and sucking their lips so much while talking about rape, it’s such an important subject but it’s impossible to take her seriously.

    • AngelinaTheGreat says:

      If you actually listen to what she’s saying you’ll realise why she can’t contain her smile.

    • Eg says:

      Ugh…..so she has been involved in this type of work for over a decade and she is still not taken seriously by YOU??!?!

      God forbid she smirk or smile! She is torn apart for the littlest and stupidest things.

    • Tiffany :) says:

      She was talking about how they finally passed a resolution….there were things to be happy about in there.

    • Lara says:

      I feel sorry for you Missy. I truly do.

    • andy says:

      Been watching too much Nancy Grace?

  15. marie says:

    she’s doing good work, respect her immensely.

    • Jane says:

      What gets lost is that she has been working with the UN since 2001, and she has risen in the ranks because of hard work. Good on her. She is an excellent public speaker too.

  16. AngelinaTheGreat says:

    Oh lol, that didn’t take long. I suppose Angelina not doing anything at all is better bcoz she’s a movie star, she’s not allowed to help anyone. Idiotic nonsense.

  17. Celine says:

    I love her. THAT”s how more celebrities should use their influence and money – raise awareness and get involved in things that really matter, instead of launching spray tan and sock lines…

    Not to say that most celebrities would be as intelligent and compassionate than Angie though.

  18. Faye says:

    I’m neutral on Angelina, but I admire the work she does. Even if you want to say it’s one big PR stunt (and if so, it’s an awfully protracted and involved one, no?), who cares? Ultimately she’s still doing something good and bringing attention to worthy causes. Miles better than partying and pimping out your latest “self-written” cookbook or eco kiddie clothes line.

    On a shallow note, love her look here. Professional but pretty, and her hair looks great.

    • Birdix says:

      Quite a contrast between this and the blond comparing her rump to a 22-year old stripper’s this week. And ostensibly the blond is the Spence-educated, old money, upper crust. I’m generally neutral about Angelina as well, but she has my admiration this week.

      • DSS says:

        I agree with what you are saying with the comparison but…
        Goop isn’t “old money”. She just wants everyone to think that she is WASP, old money. Her old money can be traced back to the early 1980’s when her Father was producer of St. Elsewhere. Nothing old about that money. “Spence educated” pfffft….It is a glorified, expensive prep school but still a High School education at best.

      • Faye says:

        @DSS for the win! Goop is just another Hollywood kid, but her gimmick is trying to project some WASP-y image — hence all the Brit-love. There was some quote in a chic-lit book I read once about her that I thought was spot-on: “Gwyneth Paltrow is in therapy because she’s 50% Jewish and 100% conflicted about it.”

      • Birdix says:

        DSS–you’re right–of course! I was blinded by the blond hair and massive Hamptons spread 🙂 Although I do think from touring last year that Spence is an amazing school, especially at the high school level (and much harder to get into now than when goop was a kid). those kids have incredible opportunities to tailor the curriculum to their own interests and draw upon the resources of the city to deepen their knowledge and experience.

    • Asiyah says:

      Well said, Faye!

    • Malak says:

      +1

  19. Cherry says:

    Fantastic. Well done.

  20. toto says:

    In the third picture the close up, I can see some resemblance of Sofia Lorin .. The mouth and the area around it , maybe the way she looks side way. Cannot put my finger on it.

    • Green_Eyes says:

      I saw that too. Glad I am not the only one. Could be in their bone structures.. Both are very beautiful women.

  21. spinner says:

    I would like to know what the plan is. How do you stop something that has been going on since the beginning of time? I am hoping this is not just a bunch of lamenting & that they have an actual plan to end the atrocities. This is much bigger than just an awareness issue. People are already aware.

    • Eg says:

      Leave it to you spinner to be so negative throughout a thread.

      To be expected though of a person who is a big fan of someone who only talks about their hair and suntans.

    • rachel says:

      I think you make an interesting point Spinner.

      • spinner says:

        Thanks, Rachel…I truly hope that they can come up with an actual plan. I guess we will have to wait & see.

    • Hipocricy says:

      Why would you be able to understand the activities of a High Commissioner in the first place ?

      You worship a bimbo whose philantropic activities is to go to Mexico in expensive resorts belonging to pervert Joe Francis to tan day in, day out, in order and i quote her condescending ‘help those people’, aka, the Mexicans.

      When she is talking about Cancer while still being a tanorexic and smoking, do you lament too about that wasting of time and counterproductive act because it has been going on for ages ?
      Do you criticize her for pulling a PR ?

      No ! you applaud and bow down to the bimbo’s incredible act (sarcasm). You are the first one backing her in her hypocrit philantropic activities.

      Give me a break !

      • spinner says:

        ‘philanthropic’

      • Lara says:

        +1 At least Angelina does things for others. Aniston is just a piece of worthless garbage in comparison. Everything Aniston does is deceiving and manipulative, she never does anything without purpose or manipulation. With Jolie she is the real McCoy.

    • Bacon! says:

      A short summary I found in other articles:

      “The declaration calls for urgent action to combat what it describes as a “culture of impunity”.” http://www.euronews.com/2013/04/12/g8-pledge-to-tackle-horrific-rape-and-sexual-violence-in-war-zones/

      “The G8 has also agreed that there should be no amnesty for sexual violence in peace agreements, and committed to developing an international protocol to investigate such crimes. Soldiers, who are sometimes the first to come across victims in conflict zones, will receive dedicated training to deal with such scenarios.” http://news.sky.com/story/1076845/angelina-jolie-joins-hague-at-g8-in-london

      So the plan seems to be, essentially, to stop allowing war zone rape and sexual violence to go unpunished. And from that, it should, hopefully, spur a decrease in occurrence.

    • lama says:

      perhaps the G8 would do well to stop starting wars and the covert funding of wars, that might be a start…

    • Janet says:

      So since people are already aware, Angie should just sit back and shut up and let people focus on REAL problems like how to think thoughts and 100 ways to blow-dry your hair. Right, Spinner?

      • Lulu.T.O. says:

        Why the hell do these posts about Angie always get turned around like this? No one (well, ALMOST no one had a negative thing to say about AJ, but somehow it always turns into some sick roast.

      • Lara says:

        You obviously don’t pay attention Lulu.

      • Lulu.T.O. says:

        I don’t pay attention to what exactly? Please show me the error in my observation – I would be ever so grateful.

    • andy says:

      “People are already aware.”

      Yes, because we see so much interest in this subject in the press. The press is more interested in Kim Kardashian, Blohan and other trivial news items to report the atrocities in the Congo.

      People have been ignoring the suffering in Africa for decades.

      • spinner says:

        It all depends on what press you read & take note of. People & organizations have been shoveling aid to Africa for years & what happens to it?

      • videli says:

        Is it your unwritten assumption that the Westerners should not involve themselves at all with Africa, because it is basically a money pit, riddled with violence and specific problems since the beginning of times, at the outskirts of civilization, hence civilized people like us cannot possibly help?

      • Leen says:

        Well the G8 aren’t all western countries. Russia and Japan certainly aren’t ‘western’.

        And yes people are aware, do you propose we do away with human rights council as well? What’s the point, human rights were abused and violated for centuries on end.

      • Mich says:

        @ spinner

        What happens to it? Eighty cents of every dollar goes back to the West in the form of loan repayments, interest on old loans, contracts, etc.

        Many of those ‘loans’ (billions and billions worth) were not intended to develop Africa but to keep unelected dictators friendly to the West in power. Mobutu of Zaire (now the DRC) is a prime example.

    • Mich says:

      Wait…I’m confused…. I might not always agree with Spinner (yesterday’s Madonna post for one) but here she(?) is making a perfectly valid point about how difficult this issue is to tackle. Beyond awareness, what is the substance? This seems to be a question that has nothing to do with Jolie but is instead about the issue itself. Why the backlash? In the context of what she said it seems kind of unfair.

      • ana says:

        Again, please read the text of the resolution. You will then understand how they will try to approach this difficult problem.

      • Mich says:

        Gee. Thanks for the tip, ana.

        My point was more that Spinner is being attacked very unfairly.

      • ana says:

        Gee, Mich, you asked:

        Beyond awereness, what is the substance?

        My answer was to that question.

      • Mich says:

        No. I didn’t ask but thanks for being so condescending in your replies!

        I pretty clearly questioned the level of venom being thrown at Spinner regarding this specific post on the thread. I think it is needlessly antagonistic given what her original thought was. Having read through the rest of the thread, though, it seems that word twisting and attacking are pretty popular today. I should have just ducked out instead of engaging.

      • spinner says:

        @ Mich

        Thanks for engaging Mich. I appreciate.

        Also, thanks for the info you provided on “where does it go?”

      • Katherine says:

        If spinner and others would pay as much attention to the substance of what Jolie and this campaign was about as they did to the tabloid nonsense they would know what it was trying to accomplish, how and why.

        Last summer it began when a comprehensive team was formed and money was committed to support rape victims in the field and work toward prosecuting their attackers.

        Medical personnel, investigators, forensics specialists, prosecutors, etc will be on the ground to help and provide rehabilitation to the victims, collect evidence, and prepare cases for trial.

        There are plenty of articles explaining everything. If you can find tabloid nonsense about Jolie you can find real news articles about her work.

        Same with the recent G8 and Geneva Convention developments on this vital subject. They will work toward a consciousness that rape will not be an easy crime to get away with with concrete changes and a commitment to make it a priority in conflict and post-conflict resolutions.

        As for the idea that stopping or retarding the epidemic of rape as a weapon of war is too big to solve – well all I can say is the same thing was said about smoking. The idea that you could stop it or that you could slowly but surely change the nation’s and even the world’s views on the acceptability of smoking was viewed as pie in the sky – an impossibility when the vast majority of people smoked – well look around – the impossible has happened.

      • spinner says:

        You’re comparing stopping rape in war zones to banning smoking?? Oh Dear.

      • Katherine says:

        Spinner, now you are being deliberately obtuse. Perhaps on such a serious issue you should cease your trollish games.

        It really is a waste of time to even engage with those who are intent on purposefully miscontruing anything under the sun related to Angelina Jolie.

  22. LadyAnne says:

    Amazing woman.

  23. Allie May says:

    Angelina has turned out to be a great role model in a world that needs more of them. So happy to see her campaigning for justice. God bless her forever.

  24. Bebe says:

    Public speaking 101 people or check out Toastmasters. If you had a little bit of college or vocational training in public speaking, you would know that when she smiled and acknowledged those people behind her, that’s exactly what you are supposed to do when you are addressing individuals directly during your speech. And that’s how she smiles, maybe she’s a little bit nervous, and that makes her mouth dry, so she licks/bites her lips a little. Such an action can be strictly involuntary. They’ve made some progress on this serious issue at the diplomatic level, and she is happy about that. God knows how many people have worked so hard to make that happen. Ignoramuses, for critising the woman for smiling. And yeah I looked up that word. Educate yourself people.

  25. Georgina says:

    She is an incredible woman and an inspiration.

  26. mel says:

    Not Team Angie..but I seriously respect her using her celebrity to bring attention to such worthwhile causes. I also find it kind of fascinating that for someone who doesn’t really have women friends she is such an advocate for women…just kind of ironic…if that’s even the right word.

    • Joyce says:

      Angie has friends. Maybe not gazillions but I’m sure she has few “quality” friends. Just because she doesn’t have gazillions or seen out with her friends, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t have them. Maybe Angie has friends who are not in the entertainment industry. Perhaps that’s what she prefers. Most of Aniston’s friends are in show biz. I very rarely seen Aniston with her non-celeb friends. Have you?

    • Breee says:

      Try again….
      Marianne Pearl, Holly Goline, Jillian Armenante, Archie Panjab, Gwen Stafani, Eunice Huthart etc. are all long time friends.

    • andy says:

      Who cares about how many female friends AJ has? It has nothing to do with her work here.

      She obviously doesn’t despise other women like the haters want to believe.

      • mel says:

        http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/celebrity/498957/i-have-no-friends-says-angelina-jolie.html…..link to Marie Claire magazine where she comments that she does not have any friends. I never said she despises women…I merely commented on how its ironic. There is a point to bringing it up…but clearly you are to defensive to recognize it. I was not criticizing her…gee whiz.

      • Katherine says:

        The nitpicking is annoying and troll behavior.

        People rarely if ever speak with precision. She could have meant a lot of different things by that statement such as friends she talks with daily or friends she sees all the time or anything. She obviously has friends.

        The reality is that as women get older and take on more and more obligations in their lives they don’t have time for that girly type of girlfriend relationship. Further they are mature enough to acknowledge that those relationships change over time rather than cling to some high school or college mentality about what friends are. Many people with lots of friends are labeling what I’d call acquaintances as “friends.”

        Actually people with fewer buddy type friends probably have more time to get things accomplished in life. How much time does an employed, grown up especially with kids have to socialize strictly for pleasure? I know I rarely haev that kind of time.

    • Perspective says:

      That’s a valid point, but there could be a multitude of reasons why she doesn’t have that many women friends. Maybe the women she often meets are superficial (especially in LA), & she can’t relate to their superficial problems. Unlike the women mentioned above, you can sort of see the type of women she can relate to. Gwen Stefani is sort of quirky though coz she seems like a superficial person (I read she always has to wear make-up before heading out anywhere but I’m not 100% sure, please don’t start scolding me, lol.). So there could be something else they do have a common bond with, the kids? They were preggers at the same time & popped at around the same time. Sometimes you just don’t click with everyone, I don’t.

  27. Tiffany :) says:

    I really liked the point that peace requires justice.

  28. LoL says:

    Definitely Team Angie. She is way too good for Brad Pitt. She is soooo outgrowing him.no wonder they’re never seen together anymore… He must bore her to tears. 🙂

    • toto says:

      Well, I would say they are good couple,
      Always remember no one shines by himself unless there are people who believe and support her/him.
      A friend , a parent , a community a husband or whom ever.. I think brad do support her.
      My opinion

      • LAK says:

        exactly.

      • LoL says:

        She might be shining brighter w/out him…I mean, is she even still with him at this point? Never see them together and she hasn’t said anything about getting married. It would not surprise me if she is single now because she looks a lot better. Plus, She was much healthier and she was still doing this type of work Pre Brad.
        My opinion.

      • Linda says:

        Yes but pre-Brad without 6 kids. She wanted kids and many of them. I remember she said between 10-14 on The Jon Stewart show. It isn’t Brad’s fault she’s thin. If you look at her old pictures, she was thin. The only time she wasn’t thin was working on TR. Also, I think she’s thin to begin with and got thinner because her she breast fed the Shi & the twins. Isn’t it true woman tend to lose weight must faster and more when she breast feed?

        Also, it is stupid to assume they are not together just because they are not join at the hips 24/7. Didn’t both said that they love to do things together as well as independenly because they both have their own projects. Brad with MIR and her humanitarian works. They both support each other.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

        @LOL, who wrote: “She might be shining brighter w/out him…I mean, is she even still with him at this point? Never see them together and she hasn’t said anything about getting married.”

        What, do you expect her to run to “People” every week with a titbits about her ‘man’ and her wedding and the renovations of her mansion and her dilemma over which girl’s girl to have as a brides maid like Jennifer Aniston?

        Do you suppose Angelina Jolie wears that ring on her finger just to ‘save face’? And if she didn’t wear the ring or if she ‘did’ run to “People” every week you’d say ‘She’s trying too hard to sell her relationship, I don’t buy it.’

        Now you can go back to Female First and Ian Halpern Undercover and brag about getting your digs in today on evil Angie.

    • Breee says:

      Her and Brad go very well together. They obviously support each other!

      Also whats with this “never seen together”???

      Neither are hardly seen at all except AJ doing her humanitarian work and BP going to France to check in on their home!

      Just because there are no daily pics does not mean they are not together!!!! They are all in La now.

      • LoL says:

        Mmhmm. He says” the wedding is happening soon” she says…*crickets*
        LoL

      • lisa2 says:

        @LOL

        she hasn’t done any interviews to be asked about the wedding or engagement. Brad has. And she is wearing her ring. They didn’t have to get engaged. She didn’t have to wear a ring. So I think it is obvious what she want too. Brad is not making her stay with him any more then she is making him stay with her.

    • Kara says:

      People like you are strange. Why do you WANT to see a family break up? There are 6 kids involved.

      You NEED to see pics of them TOGETHER to think they are actually together. Lots of celeb couples are never seen. You need picture proof.

      It is not like Angelina or Brad are seen everyday out by themselves. There are never/few pap pics of them when they live in LA.

      Never mind they all spent Easter in Santa Barbara, never mind they are living in LA know in the same house!

      Excuse me, is she suppose to talk about her wedding in the middle of talking about rape? IDIOT. She has done no personal interviews at all since getting engaged.

      • Lara says:

        LoL is just an anti-Angelina troll.

      • LoL says:

        Yeah, I never said I wanted them to break up. I just wouldn’t be surprised if they have broken up because she looks healthier and they’re never seen together. I don’t know , I don’t live with them. I just go by what I see. She looks better though, doesn’t she? 🙂

        She has had chances to talk about her engagement but she hasn’t. Since when does she answer paparazzi tho? She shouted “No!” When they asked if she was wearing a wedding ring. lol

      • Janet says:

        @LoL: You didn’t have to say it, we can read between the lines. Your meaning was glaringly obvious.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

        @Kara, who wrote: “People like you are strange. Why do you WANT to see a family break up? There are 6 kids involved.”

        Because after leaving that evil witch Angie, Brad can then crawl back to pure, innocent ‘natural beauty’ Jennifer Aniston, where he belongs.

        Isn’t that right, LOL?

    • Kara says:

      You certainly do want to see a family break up.

      Again, neither are hardly seen period! Just because the paps do not catch them everyday does not mean they are not together! Why can’t you understand that?

      This year total AJ has been seen in candid pics a grand total of 5 times! And one of those was with Brad! The whole family was in Santa Barbara for Easter, did they both magically appear there without going there TOGETHER????? Obviously they are together. Deal with it.

      Have not seen Kevin Bacon & wife together in a while, guess they broke up!! Have not seen Meryl Streep & husband for a while, guess they broke up too!

      Brad does not go on every UNHCR trip! He is not going to go to the Women in the World event! They are not going to overshawdow the G8 event.

      And she has had zero chances to talk about her engagement. She said No to the wedding ring question because the answer was NO.

    • claire says:

      I don’t know…Brad’s got his New Orleans-based rebuilding project going on. They’re both very invested in their philanthropy. I would imagine they have lots to talk about and find each other pretty interesting for all of the work they do. Her work is growing on the international level, his on the local community level.

    • Janet says:

      @LoL: You really miss her pre-Brad, bad-girl days, don’t you? The thing is, she moved on from that stage years ago. Too bad you haven’t.

      • LoL says:

        Nope. You’re wrong Janet. You simply cannot stand that someone actually thinks Angelina can do better than Brad Pitt. -gasp- I don’t think he’s been good for her health at all… The brange fans are the only people on earth that think Angelina looks healthy and as gawgeaous as she did in the few years before Pitt. It is only my opinion…. 🙂

        But I must admit she looks healthier in these photos which is why I think they might be ovah! Finally she can eat.

      • Janet says:

        Oh for Christ’s sake, you and the rest of the Female First coven have been claiming they are “ovah” for the past eight years. Give it up, will you? You only make yourself look stupid repeating the same tired crap incessantly. Do you think if you say it often enough you’ll make it come true?

    • Janet says:

      “Team Angie”? Who are you kidding? Take that baloney someplace else, honey, you are fooling nobody on here. Scoot.

      • LoL says:

        Janet, you wish that was the case. Did you see angie airport arrival? She looks to be in fine form in leather pants. she def looks better… a sign she is single because ya know Brad Pitt would not want that 5lb weight gain.

      • Janet says:

        Now let me see if I got this right: you know for a fact Angie and Brad have broken up because she looks like she gained five pounds?

        Honey, if you keep this up, they’re going to be measuring you for a room with rubber walls.

    • Worldgirl says:

      Actually, I think Brad and Angelina very obviously inspire one another and support one another. Everyone knows they are the most loved up, tight couple in Hollywood. Their priorities seem clear. Also, neither Brad nor Angelina are ever away from home for more than a week at a time, and are pretty inseparable. Just because you don’t see either of them each weekday getting a starbucks or groceries, doesn’t mean that wherever they are, they aren’t together. I mean, don’t take my word for it. Take other Hollywood celebrities like Ben and Jen, or Matt, or George who discuss how inseparable and in love they are. But why am I telling you this, you know it’s true of course, which is why you want to infer differently. Meow. I know, it’s got to be infuriating, knowing Brad spend 6 mos, and 3 mos at a time away from Rachel Green. But let’s face it, like jen said, it’s doubtful he was ever really in love with her. She may have been only rebound from Goop, who did him dirty.

  29. Ai says:

    I work in advocacy for children’s rights and it is not easy to change the world as it is now to stop the crimes against children and women. People point out that awareness is already here but I beg you to think if that was really true, then these crimes wouldn’t still occur. Knowledge without action means nothing and in some ways, worse than ignorance. The fact that many ppl claim to know orcare aware but yet do nothing against the crime. It exists today because not enough people TRULY care, especially the ones in the position of power and influence to make an impact. This is why public awareness and understanding can play an important part; if one truly cares, then it can be powerful enough to make the changes. In the UK, a judge basically let a man who is a famous sports figure get away with sexually abusing girls because he shown ‘genuine remorse’. When the judge allows the crime to go unpunished like that, it is indirect support and telling these criminals that they can continue to commit the crimes with immunity. Just my thoughts.

  30. Tish says:

    What a woman!

  31. s says:

    ugh, I wish she would go away.

    • Lio says:

      Why? She is not hurting anyone.

      She would go away if you stopped clicking on pics and headlines associated with her!

      Also, learn to use your SCROLL button.

      I completely ignore all celebs I do not care for this way.

    • Lara says:

      You go away.

  32. decorative item says:

    I have great respect for her work. Love her or hate her, she has a healthy perspective beyond self centered Hollywood fame. Not saying she’s perfect, just more well rounded than many in her field.

  33. Kara says:

    @ Lol farther up…..Angelina has never been asked about the wedding since the engagement!

    The only interviews she has done are in relation to her humanitarian work.

    You are a nasty person wanting to see a family with 6 kids torn apart.

  34. Mrs.Darcy says:

    I am not a huge fan of her per se, but I really don’t see how anyone could find fault with her humanitarian work. I imagine it must feel a huge pressure to stand up and talk about rape and it’s horrific treatment in these countries with poise. It’s such a sensitive topic and such a personal one to women and yet very few actresses really put themselves forward to take a stand the way that she does here. I know she has a higher profile due to her ambassador status but still, I think this can only be a good thing she is doing.

  35. The Original G says:

    Angelina like everyone else,is an individual who has made her own individual path. The way she has used her celebrity, is IMHO very comendable.

    For those of you who cannot fathom either Angelina or Brad expressing themselves in any context outside of being actors and tabloid fodder, too bad. Are you as petty and small minded with your own spouses, children and co-workers? How sad

    As for other celebs, it’s not a requirement that they be activists as well. The last thing I want to hear about is some tabloid star inanely blabbing on a subject way out of their element. They can all feel free to tan, shop and dine in peace without being judged. but they really should hold their tongues when it comes to judging those are interested and capable.

  36. lisa2 says:

    Sad thing is many of these people wanting this family to be destroyed are women with children and families of their own. Now what does that say about Family Values.

    I saw a comment on another site and thought it was spot on. It talked about what is the crime that Angelina Jolie has done that she need to make amends to the public or that she has to make right. The things about her past that we know about are what she has said. She did drugs as a teen/young woman. So has 90%+ of Hollywood. She did things that hurt herself. Well so have we all when we make dumb young minded choices. She to my knowledge has never been arrested. Never killed anyone nor has she committed any crime. She was married and divorced like many other female and male celebs. She did silly things, but none any worst then what we see or hear about other celebs. She fell in love with a co Star..and so did the person some people need to protect.

    so exactly what is the crime Angie has committed that causes some women to want her family to break up, for her to fail in her career, for her to be attacked over and over.

    I guess I missed it; because I don’t get it at all.

    • Jane says:

      Thank you, I am right there with you on not knowing what this womans’ crime is. That is the reason I usually stay away from Angelina posts. She is quietly working, not asking anyone to follow her life style or do what she does, you rarely see the children and her relationship is going along well and quietly, no daily pap walks. She never responds to the crazy things others say about her or her family. And now her “fans” are trashing her relationship.

      I thought this one would be OK, but boy was I wrong. But then all hell breaks loose and from out of nowhere it just deteriorates.

    • Linda says:

      Angie’s crime is that she’s smart, beautiful inside and out. She has compassion. She genuinly wants to do good. She is talented.

      Like you, I don’t get it either. What has she done that’s so terrible? Like you said, there are many many others have done worse then Angie when they were young and still doing bad?

      Btw, very well said.

    • The Original G says:

      IMHO, Angelina’s “crime” has been her honesty about her journey to find herself morally, sexually and intellectually. She’s not the first or the last person to take some side roads into sensation seeking dubious lifestyle choices. She’s not turning in her “good girl” chips for public praise. She’s come to herself though honest and authentic searching.

      The hate on her is something more pedestrian. Angelina is the cool, gorgeous adventurer that can lure the man of the moldering mini-van wives away with her sexual enthusiasms and her lack of need to tranform them into suburban domestic animals. They want their men grateful for a tuna casserole and some grudging Saturday night sex not imagining they could pursue any interests of their own.

    • Janet says:

      Her “crime” is breaking up the idyllic marriage of the “golden couple”, for which she deserves eternal damnation.

      🙄

    • Jolie's gal says:

      Lisa2 well said! I dunno what Angie has done to deserve So much hate! Its So disheartening.. Am a Nigerian and down here in Africa we love her becos she put her money where her mouth is..She is an icon! Anyone hating needs to do an inner search into what they have not only achieved for themselves but for others..

    • Embee says:

      I think Angelina behaved in appropriately with Brad Pitt years ago. I also think she thinks so. I believe she has some guilt about it, but she certainly doesn’t owe any of us an explanation.

      To me, her journey from self-centered self-harm to humanitarian is beautiful. It is the optimal result of having pain: compassion for others’ pain.

      I am so grateful and honored that Angelina has turned her sites on sexual violence and women’s issues. I look forward to seeing her work in the future.

      Also, I think Jennifer Aniston is adorable and would love to hang out at the beach with her. So sue me.

      • lisa2 says:

        Well Angelina herself said she didn’t and has nothing to apologize for.

        If you didn’t do anything wrong there is nothing to need forgiveness for. And she has been doing this work long before she met Brad. So if what you say is true. She knew almost 5 years before meeting Brad that you and others would feel she is guilty of something.

        Seriously, you don’t have any proof of when or where her and Brad’s relationship began. Just the same as his ex wife and her relationship with JT. But for some reason Brad and Angie being together is the STORY OF THE AGES. I’m sure there are many people in Heidi’s life that have an opinion about Adorable Jen; and I for one find her extremely basic and uninteresting and lying on a beach with her holds no appeal whatsoever. I guess I need a bit more from a friend..

        sue me too.

  37. jasmine says:

    what a knockout!

  38. dee says:

    the guys in back are totally checking her out and i think the old guy to the left is staring at her tatoos too, hahahah

    • Maggie says:

      I watched the video. They are simply standing there listeneing. Where are they supposed to look?

  39. floretta50 says:

    Why is Angelina Jolie hub nobbing with the Secretary of State? Look at where she is seated next to John Kerry, like her as an actress but this is a little bit rediculous.

    • Lara says:

      Um, because she is a UN SPECIAL ENVOY and has a duty to be there? Do catch up. smh

    • ana says:

      Because she was crucial (from the beginning, as Hauge said) to getting this declaration (Declaration on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict)to the table. Before you pass the judgement on this, how about at least reading an article or too about the whole thing?

    • mayal says:

      She put the declaration together with Hague. That’s why.

    • read her book says:

      Angie has been working with refugees for more than a decade- her book, Notes from My Travels, is wonderful and very poignant. I hope she does another one. Did you watch In the Land of Blood and Honey (ITLOBAH)? Angie wrote and directed ITLOBAH (in 2 languages) and it is an intense, very well done award winning film that deals with sexual violence in war. William Hague himself has said several times that it was Angie’s movie that got him so passionate about this issue. So, yes, she belongs there.

      • Lili says:

        I watched In the Land of Blood and Honey and thought was an excellent movie, very sad yet realistic and how the finale was quite not what I expected.

  40. RHONYC says:

    I think she’s like, “Dude, you kill it.” And he’s all, “Girl, you’re the Tomb Raider, you kill it.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    then he says…”Guuuurl, you know what to do…go HAMburger on these fools and pour some ‘SALT’ on ’em with the quickness!” 😆
  41. bohemia says:
    Wow. This is awesome 🙂
  42. lisa2 says:
    I recall on her last thread someone said she was afraid to wear form fitting cloths because of her thinness. Well that is a very form fitting dress and she doesn’t seem scared about wearing it. I know she is thin,, but she looks so good in that dress.
    And her face is flawless.
  43. Bizzyb says:
    I’m not an Angelina fan, but I really appreciate what she does with her time and money. I have a somewhat wild background and I’m now a great wife and a wonderful mom. I give some time and money to a couple charities. A person can definitely change. Hate her for her past, but recognize her present.
    • Hea says:
      You “hate” her for her past? Wow.
      I don’t recall Angelina killing anyone. Do not recall her getting DUI’s or yelling racial slurs.
      Nothing she did in her past deserves hate. She did not even do anything that bad!
      • lisa2 says:
        THIS WAS MY POINT EARLIER.. What the hell has she done to anyone for them to hate her past.
        seriously..
      • Bizzyb says:
        I was being extreme by using the word hate. There are some commenters who do seem to hate her. I was just talking to those commenters. I’m with you, but not everybody is. Wow, some of you take this stuff personally.
      • Mich says:
        I don’t think that is what Bizzyb is saying.
        If you read again you will see that she is saying that, as a former wild child herself, she identifies with Angie. People should judge her by who she is today.
      • mia says:
        geez! some fans read one small “negative” thing and get so riled up they miss the entire point of the comment. Bizzyb was actually complimenting her.
  44. Maggie says:
    If anyone is interested google “Rehtaeh Parsons was my daughter” It’s heartbreaking!!!
  45. Ginger says:
    She really is inspiring. And I agree a very effective speaker. I would imagine that being an actress must help in public speaking skills. Me, I get so flustered and nervous when doing things in front of a group of people. So, Bravo to her! I think the blue guy tie guy looks a little bored and is most probably checking out her butt. But can you blame him? LOL! Yah, blue tie dude you are at the G8 summit…try to be a little professional!
  46. lurker says:
    A little off topic, I have sympathy to speechwriters who write those excellent speeches and remarks, by politicians and other famous/eminent people, but get very little credit. 😀
    • zut alors! says:
      Your attempt to be so clever with your passive-aggressive dig is so cute. Kudos to Ms. Jolie for recognizing her limitations, and working with a speech writer to hone her message thus giving it more impact. It does not diminish her, nor, does it make her any less effective. Your need to demean her says more about you than it does her.
      • Aagje says:
        Jesus christ, it was a tongue-in-cheek remark and you attack Lurker as if she personally did you wrong.
        Relax.
      • Worldgirl says:
        I’m sorry, did a speech writer step forward to claim the glory of her speech? That sounds like an odd happening. This woman has written an award winning film, and several op-eds for the NYT and Washington Post on issues concerning refugees and war atrocities through the years. So why would she suddenly need a speech writer for this little intro? I think the toxicity of envy is affecting otherwise normal brain function in some people on this board.
      • lisa2 says:
        @worldgirl
        Well according to them Angie is a high school drop out.. even though she graduated at 16 ahead of her class. I don’t understand why they assume she is not a smart person. I think actually seeing what these people have gone through and actually talking to them makes you very knowledgeable on the subject.
        If people want to question. Ask why the Politicians that are in Washington or your own communities have not visited any of these places and they are the ones that are making the decision. That is what should be of more concern then whether Angie wrote a speech.
        and as you said I don’t recall anyone saying she didn’t. So yes that comment is very passive aggressive. I do have enough intelligence to read between those very WIDE LINES.
  47. Jolie's gal says:
    I love you Angie. Keep up the good work!
  48. OhMyGawh says:
    These comments are proof that she detracts from the cause. Who is the woman to the right of Hauge?
    • Tiffany :) says:
      I disagree. How many people have now watched her speech and are aware of this declaration by the UN simply because she was the one delivering the message? Her presence brought attention to a worthy cause.
    • ana says:
      She detracts from the cause? She inspired William Hague to push for this resolution, so your statement is not only wrong but totally opposite of the truth.
      • OhMyGawh says:
        There are more comments here about how beautiful Jolie is than the cause itself. Again, who is the woman to Hauge’s right? Oh that’s right. She doesn’t matter because she’s not a mega superstar.
      • ana says:
        Who cares what people comment on Celebitchy? It’s a gossip site. It doesn’t matter at all in big scope of things, it doesn’t matter for this cause.(Lady’s name is Zainab Bangura,and if you are not happy that her name was not mentioned, you should take that with the writers on this site, not with Angelina – how could that be her fault?)
    • Jane says:
      Here is an article that does not agree with this assessment and identifys the other powerful woman standing next to Hauge and why both women belong.
      http://womanisapoliticalanimal.wordpress.com/2013/04/12/move-over-william-hague-angelina-jolies-got-this/
      • OhMyGawh says:
        You cited a blog? I expected an actual news article. You know, something accredited. Everyone is a writer these days. Thanks just the same. Zainab Bangura is far more involved with human rights organizations and causes than Jolie yet she doesn’t get as much press. It’s rather unsettling the way some worship celebrities.
        Hauge supplies terrorists. He’s not to be trusted.
      • ana says:
        OhMyGawd, ten minutes before you didn’t know who Zainab Baghura was, and now, you already know that she is “fare more involved” than Jolie? How do you know that? You have no idea how much and what did Angelina do to push this forward. You just don’t like her period and are angry that she actually is doing good things.
      • Loira says:
        http://www.abc.es/internacional/20130412/abci-mujeres-jolie-201304112107.html
        Do not blame Jolie because other important people are not in the picture. This has more coverage because of her in news all over the world and also on celebrity blogs. If you are in a celeb blog, what do you expect to find in the comments? I do not frequent poliitcs blogs, but I have learnt quite a lot via knowledgeable people who share about facts in war torn countries.
  49. Casey says:
    Great job Angie.You are so admirable and an inspiration to women.
  50. Casey says:
    She is so beautiful in this pics.So elegant.And to those people that said she doesn’t have friends, how do you know that? And I would rather have no. friends than having a friend like Chelsea Handler.I will never befriend a woman who attack innocent children who has done nothing to her.I hope Handler friends are aware how she attack JP kids.
  51. Maggie says:
    Forget it’s Angelina Jolie delivering the speech. All woman should be supportive of this cause. I can’t imagine being gang raped day after day. The level of cruelty humans inflict upon one another is atrocious and beyond belief!
  52. Rena says:
    I admire her so much. She is an example of excellence. She grew up which some here refuse to accept and sit in narrow minded judgement as if they are perfect specimens of humankind. She walks the walk and talks the talk and people in positions of power worldwide listen to her. She rolls up her sleeves and ventures into places and situations for now 12 years and counting. She is a worker bee with a caring heart who is loved by her family.
    She is not sitting on a lounger in the sun tanning and smoking or out shopping or clubbing. Or constantly solicting pap attention. Guess that angers those who prefer the shallow ones over people of substance.
    • april says:
      Bingo! I’m with you. I think she knows she’s blessed and wants to give back to society. Plus the fact she really appreciates her children and all other children, not just her own.
  53. lisa2 says:
    To the posters asking Why is she there?
    From a Times articles today..
    1. In the past 20 years more than 250,000 women have been raped in Democratic Republic of Congo; hundreds of thousands in Rwanda; tens of thousands in Bosnia.
    (and that is just in these places. There conflicts occurring all over the world)
    2. In the DRC, 11 babies have been raped in the past year.
    (BABIES.. BABIES.. BABIES.. )
    Why is Angelina Jolie there? Question that should be asked.. Why are not more women’s groups and organizations there..
    If you are a parent, sister, aunt, daughter.. How in the world could any woman find fault in her trying to help in any way possible. Because obviously there has not been a cognitive plan to stop this disgusting thing from happening over and over and over for years.
    • Rena says:
      BRAVO!!!
    • Casey says:
      OMG,this is horrible.This babies thing(I can’t even write it).I couldn’t imagine it.This makes me sick.How can any human being do something like that. Angelina must be terrified hearing this things that’s she is so determined to do something about it.The more I admire her.Upon learning this , my respect for this woman doubled. Please Angie continue what you are doing, this people need the worlds help.
    • Isabell says:
      Well said, applause.
  54. lisa2 says:
    Everyone has their passion.
    Angie’s passion is Refugees. Mainly because of her children and actually spending time with people fleeing from such ugliness you could not imagine.
    If Angie is helping the refugees overseas.. then maybe you should call on the thousand upon thousand of other celebs and see if they would take up the causes that you feel are more important. Or maybe you can share what you are doing in your community on a daily basis to make things better. I mean you believe in home first.. so I’ll be interested in hearing about what you are doing.. and why you are so mad that Angie ONE WOMAN is working on the things she is passionate about.. but you are not calling out the celebs that are not doing what she is doing and are not “helping at home”.. go and encourage one of them to do something..
    There were many celebs calling out for gun control. Where are they now. Angelina and Brad support many causes in the US.. Google is your friend. If you want to know.. go find the information on your own. That is what people do when they have questions.
    • Katherine says:
      Wow, as I think I said in another post, there are answers to all your questions but they can’t be supplied on some gossip post.
      Try reading real news articles. There are no monies missing in MIR. But again you’re never going to get your answers at a gossip forum.
      No one gets to criticize another’s choice where they devote their charity and volunteer work. No one.
      But the reality is that both Angelina and Brad have made numerous donations to efforts here in the US in a wide variety of issues and programs. In fact, Jolie’s first foundation she set up and funded supported all kinds of projects from medical to educational to helping abused women to environmental for Native Americans. Is that “American” enough for you? Plus they have donated large sums of money to both charitable and emergency efforts in Missouri. Again, is that “American” enough for you? They’ve also given generously to US military and their families. Is that “American” enough for you? If you’d bother you can read all the donations made by their foundation to various US programs. Go read their IRS 990s- everything is listed.
      I you have a problem with the US tax code then complain to congress. Donations to foreign charities are not usually tax deductible. And once your income reaches a certain level these kind of deductions make little difference in your tax bill.
      You spend all this time ranting yet you won’t bother to spend time learning the truth.
  55. dlsmith says:
    Just in case no one answered the question…there were so many comments and I’m just skimmming…the dude in the blue tie checking her out is Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird. ha ha…yeah only a Canadian would know
    • Glaughy says:
      Not to be a negative nelly but if you’re referring to the guy behind her in the video of her speech, that isn’t John Baird. Baird was wearing a striped blue tie and looks nothing like him
  56. mayal says:
    @ Wow
    And when the tornado struck Joplin, who gave the money?
    And who donated money for education of children of US soldiers?
    And who goes and visits military hospitals and wounded soldiers (only known because soldiers post pictures)?
    I can post donations she made to US hospitals, Native American charities and of course, her legal charity for immigrant children. I’m not even mentioning New Orleans – but most money also came there form Jolie-Pitt foundation.
    • deedee says:
      Yeah, where was that Beyonce when tornado hit Joplin?
      Joking aside, what Wow wrote does not make any sense. It would be like asking – why is Michael J. Fox doing all the charity work for the disease he suffers from? Why does he not talk about gun control? Because this is his passion, and everyone who have one, and make positive change in one, deserve admiration.
  57. Rena says:
    “There is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women”
    Madeleine Albright
    • paranormalgirl says:
      and the atrocities that Angelina Jolie is focusing on are what Madeline Albright was talking about, not the “injustice” Taylor Swift had to deal with from the horrible Poehler-Fey monster.
  58. pwal says:
    Hmmm… so last year, Johnny Depp, Kristen Stewart, etc. used rape in flippant ways during interviews and got hate for it. Meanwhile, Angelina, in her capacity as an UN Special Envoy, is trying to insure that rape is classified as an implement of war… and she’s getting hate for it?
    It’s unbelievable that people are wasting their time heaping hate on Angelina for assisting in this initiative which is, what, thousands of years, overdue?
  59. Lee says:
    I think she has found her calling. Also, at least she knows how to dress.
  60. Rhea says:
    @Wow : Honestly, I also really want to know why so many people still asking the question of “why won’t she focus on America?”
    Because like Lisa said, everyone has their passion. And if you check it with the google, you would find that she made donation too in the US.
    • Eli says:
      Well, for the love of God, answer the question… WHY? Why not America? Can you not answer it?
      Excellent comment, Wow! I have wondered the same t hing. She has never spoken out for any tragedy in America. Why?
    • spinner says:
      @ Wow
      OMG…you are amazing. Thank you, for your thoughts.
      • lisa2 says:
        Angie and Brad have done great things for years; together and apart. But you can’t make everyone happy.
        Good thing they don’t seem to be tying to.
        I like that Angie nor Brad are ever trashing anyone in the press. You don’t see them tweeting insults to anyone or making anyone else’s live the punchline to get attention. They are not on Facebook or instagram. You don’t see them dropping other celebs names to get attention. They don’t attack anyone else for the choices that they make or made in their lives. They don’t ask anyone to give to a cause until they themselves have given. They don’t jump on ever bandwagon but wait until they have the facts and information before they step out. They actually have interesting things to talk about when they do talk. They themselves are interesting enough. Even though they are talked about all the time, you don’t see them needing to go to every media outlet to answer.
        Angie won her Lawsuit. The vast majority of celebs would have been all over the press. When they won their case against News of the World, neither did any interviews about it. Just kept going. The lies printed for YEARS in the tabloids would have broken most couples. Hell we see break ups weekly. And the vast majority of those couples don’t have tabloid headlines about them, or have a group of sick strangers hoping for their relationship to end. Yet they do end, without the word putting their noses in your life, love, how you raise your children.
        so say what you want. Others could learn a lot from these two people
    • Rhea says:
      @ Eli :
      ?????
      I did answer the question.
  61. Janet says:
    Why are you whining about Jolie’s participation in causes she believes in, while you have nothing to say about celebrities who do nothing but tan on the beach gossiping with their girlfriends in and day out and never spare a thought or anyone else?
    Oh, and to Eli: She and Brad donated half a million dollars after the tornado hit Joplin last year. Brad contribute millions of his own money to building houses in New Orleans after Katrina. They put their money where their mouths are, unlike a certain airheaded rom-com actress who shall remain nameless.
    • The Original G says:
      @Wow. My observation is that Jolie is in involved in humanitarian causes and missions rather than political ones. Humanitarian work benefits those who don’t have access to a democratic political process or even basic human rights.
      That seems to be her niche. I don’t see her getting into political dogma. Ranting about what she doesn’t do seems kind of childish, BTW. Or Xenophobic. What’s your real point? That she’s not American enough?
  62. dvz says:
    Here, I’ll calm the heavy discussion with a completely shallow observation. Those pearls look plastic. I’ve never seen real pearls clash with skin tone like that.
    I love what she is doing in the world. I really do wonder if she’s headed for politics.
  63. Jess says:
    The US is not a third world country. The US has the most billionaires than any other country. The US is still a super power. So in essence, the US government should help their own, right? Maybe AJ’s focus on the poorer countries is because they truly need the most help?
  64. Ellen says:
    Despite the fact that she bugs the crap out of me as an actress and that I’ve always been Team Jen in the unholy triangle, I have to say that I really admire her for what she’s doing here. It’s obviously something that she’s really passionate about and she deserves praise for this.
    On a purely superficial note, that woman has great eyebrows.
  65. olivia says:
    @Wow
    You are asking about her contribution to illegal immigrants, visiting borders – here is what she does:
    Angelina Jolie and Brad Smith: Why We Need to Help Children Alone
    http://www.supportkind.org/en/blog/711-why-we-need-to-help-children-alone
    This is one of her lesser known but effective charities (with Brad Smith, vice president of Microsoft) – so do read if you are really interested in some of what she does.
  66. Sara says:
    I’m sorry but the speech and its deliverance are not special. The delivery is very actress-y. It’s ridiculous how her fans worship her. I also find it hypocritical that everyone criticizes GOOP for being shallow yet see nothing wrong with Jolie’s lavishness. Jolie owns a 40 million dollar mansion in Italy, a 70 million dollar chateaux in France, a Los Angeles mansion, as well as a New Orleans property (3.5 million). How can a woman who has seen the devastation of poverty, starvation, and war first-hand justify such exorbitance?
    • Janet says:
      I’m sure you’d rather listen to some fluffball with vacuum between the ears prattling about how she loves to sit and watch her philandering boy-toy “think thoughts”.
    • deedee says:
      Where is her mansion in Italy? That’s total tabloid fabrication. Where is her mansion in LA? It’s Brad’s that he bought in early 90s, before he got with Paltrow).
      You really believe things you read in tabloids. You shouldnt.
      • Janet says:
        I’ve notice that fans of Brad Pitt’s ex have one thing in common: as a group, they aren’t very bright. This one probably has a lifetime subscription to In Touch Weekly.
      • lisa2 says:
        The tabloids and BI are their bible. And no they don’t have a bit of sense. Brad and Angie have both denied they had a home in Italy. And do you notice how they don’t care if any other celeb is living large. But Angie and Brad should be living in tents to prove they care. But we see other celebs with mansions, lavish vacations, and not a peep.
        Silly twits.. is the best word. Like the tabloids know squat.
    • Rena says:
      Hyperbole much? Lies lies lies.
      1. Angie and Brad do not own any home in Italy and have denied that several times (just so you know several scenes in Tree of Life were filmed in a home in Italy and that is how that particular lie began).
      2. Their place in France is a working organic vinyard recording studio olive tree grower which cost them maybe around $30 mil which included their rent to own for 3 years of payments and provides employment for locals.
      3.The home in NOLA they bought and MIR uses it as well and the cost included it being in the French quarter and being historical and being in good shape after Katrina.
      4.Their home base in LA/Los Feliz comsists of several very modest homes Brad began buying in 1994, not one of which are $20+ mil mansions by any means.
      Shameful that you insist on ranting lies rather than doing a little fact finding and printing the truth.
      You are a pitiful spite filled selfish woman who has no empathy for anyone who refuses to recognize the good Angelina does and her effectiveness in her humanitarian endeavors. She pays her own way on all her trips, she never asks staff for any special favors or arrangements according to those in the field who interact wwith her.
      So those who work and earn money if their names are Angelina (and Brad I will say it for you) are not to spend any money on themselves.
      What a spineless woman you are to attack her in the matter you attempted.
      Real estate is an investment. It’s smart.
  67. aang says:
    i find it slightly odd that celebrities feel qualified to do this kind of work. not just jolie but any of them. because you are famous we should listen to you about important matters? that’s how we ended up with ronald reagan and arnold schwarzenegger.
    • Janet says:
      They do help bring attention to whatever cause they are involved in. It’s called using your celebrity for a good purpose and I see nothing at all wrong with it. What do you think celebrities should occupy their spare time with? I’m curious to read your take on that.
      (BTW your allusion to Reagan and Schwarzenegger in connection to Jolie is slightly ridiculous as, last I heard, she has no intention whatever of running for public office.)
      • aang says:
        there is a difference between using your celebrity to call attention to an issue you feel deeply about and sitting next to the secretary of state at an international conference. and i really feel that it says more about us and our own ignorance then it does about the celebrity in question. why do we need a celebrity to make us pay attention?
      • Jess says:
        Celebrity involvement attracts the wrong kind of attention, mainly from vapid, vitriolic women such as yourself, Janet. I would much rather listen to a qualified, well-intentioned expert than a hypocritical, non-actress such as A.J. I find it outrageous that she is allowed to do this kind of work, and attend such prestigious meetings, when she has the least of qualifications. Most people need to earn such privileges through many years of grueling academic study.
      • Janet says:
        @Jess: Talk about vapid, your comment was beyond stupid. Angie has been doing this work for 12 years. She didn’t just sit in some air-conditioned classroom, she got out in the field and saw what was happening up close and personal. She is far more qualified than some pseudo-intellectual who talks the talk but can’t be bothered to walk the walk. Grueling academic study is meaningless if you can’t be bothered to get out there and see it for yourself.
        @aang: If the conference organizers didn’t feel she had something positive to contribute, she would not have been invited. Similarly, she would not have been invited to join the Council on Foreign Relations if the CFR felt she was not qualified in her area. You sound quite bitter about all the recognition her work for the UN is getting. Would you like her better if she did nothing but sit around blow-drying her hair and gossiping with her girlfriends?
      • ??? says:
        @Janet:
        Skimming through this board, I happened to read your comment and felt the need to respond.
        Many of those “pseudo-intellectuals” who pursue a formal education in foreign affairs and humanitarian aid/relief and development also just so happen to dedicate years of their lives to LIVING AND WORKING CONTINUOUSLY — and often at their own risk, as a matter of fact — in war-torn, underprivileged countries. These people aren’t politicians or celebrities. They don’t get to fly in on a private jet, shake some hands, take some pictures with the locals, then be on their way. And sitting in air-conditioned classrooms is actually a very small part of their process.
        I commend Angelina Jolie’s continued dedication to philanthropy. But it’s inappropriate and disgruntling when her fans make trivializing generalizations in their haste to further glorify her.
      And Shirley Temple, Audrey Hepburn and others, like even Diana Spencer.
    • deedee says:
      I actually find that ok. Lots of them already have fame and money to some degree, so they are not as hungry as some other politicians, but there are such a small number of them going into politics anyhow, especially compared to lawyers and doctors.
    • april says:
      Ronald Reagan and Arnold was/is Republican. I’m sure Angie is a Democrat and is more sincerely a compassionate person.
      • Lulu.T.O. says:
        HAHAHAHA!!!! Please tell me you are joking!! Compassion is NOT limited to one political party or another. What you are displaying here, is a very intolerant attitude. And the funny thing is, you probably think you are a ‘progressive’.
        If you were being sarcastic in your comment, please accept my apologies!
    • Malak says:
      @aang
      I doubt anyone forced you to pay attention, so why did you? Must be because you find her interesting. That’s precisely why Angie is perfect for this job.
  68. paranormalgirl says:
    I can’t get my hate on for a woman who is bringing attention to the horrific treatment of women and children. Sorry, I won’t go there because this is a woman with a conviction and the means to provide the push needed. And for that alone, I admire her.
  69. lee says:
    Winners look for solutions. Losers find excuses.
    Anjie is so so beautiful and has a lovely heart.
    Just adore her and admire her commitment to keep finding solutions by giving hope to victims and warning the criminals that their actions will be punished.
    I hope the haters find help with their fears.
    Great job young lady. Just a brilliant job and thank you for trying to make a difference.
    • Lulu.T.O. says:
      What I find so compelling about her commitment, is that she continues to go to the most heartbreaking places in the world and immerse herself completely in what is happening to the people there. It takes A LOT of courage and conviction to do that. A lot. Anyone who says otherwise, has never been in that kind of situation. I can tell you that it is truly heartbreaking and creates images in your mind that will haunt you for the rest of your life. It is SO much easier and more comfortable to stay home and send money.
  70. april says:
    Angelina is smart, sexy and classy and helps those in need. Then there’s the Kardashians who offer nothing to society, or Jennifer Aniston who seems pretty insipid, Brandi who is nothing but a party girl, Ivanka Trump who is just like her dad and can only blow her own horn about how great she is, Goop is totally self-absorbed, Bethany Frankel who thinks divorce is the worst thing hasn’t seen anything yet.
    Thank God for the people who are actually doing something good for the world. They have vision, heart and soul. And there are a lot of them out there besides Angie, that I say thank you to.
    Exposure! It’s a win win. She get worldwide exposure and the UN gets a figurehead. I watched the Independant Lense the other night on the war on drugs which shows from a unigue perspective how the blacks in America are still enslaved. There are more black men in prison in the US for non violent crime than there ever were enslaved during slavery.The US imprisons more of their people than any other country in the world…..BY FAR. It’s a money maker for the gov’t to keep the war on drugs going. Starting or engaging in war is another. They sell a ton of arms. It’s a valid question WoW. I get what you are asking.
  73. Ali says:
    I can’t believe people actually take the time to criticize someone for their humanitarian efforts. The world is rapidly evolving into a global society and your highly nationalistic views seemingly spouted more for the purposes of criticism than concern ring false. One person can’t tackle every cause and shouldn’t be diminished for their choices. The plight of women and children in developing nations and in war zones impacts the world and should be addressed by it as well. She may not be an inspiration to you, but to the millions of people she speaks out for, for the millions of women and children for whom she is trying to better life I’m sure she is an inspiration. In fact, I’m sure she’s an inspiration to many who can see beyond the stars and stripes and want a better world not just a better America. There is certainly something pathetic and lacking in inspiration afoot, but it isn’t Angelina.
    I love every day that Celebitchy actually shares stuff like this because I would never know about it on GOD FORBID THE REAL NEWS that I watch every day its sad really you ladies are all wonderful 🙂
    I’m so proud to be her fan. I feel so lucky to being able to live in the same era as her.
  76. Bil-Inga says:
    My mother was a teenager in Berlin during WWII. When Berlin fell, the communist Russians swarmed in and began pillaging, plundering, murdering, and yes, raping. My mother had to live on the roof of her apartment building for 8 weeks before the Americans restored law and order. So many people were brutalized and women raped. The even killed my mom’s German Shepherd. Thank God they didn’t find her on the roof.
    We still discuss these events today, she’s 87 and will never forget. Thank you Angelina Jolie.
