Catching Fire’s looking good, I wish we got to see a bit more of the other Tributes, though.
Looking forward to seeing PSH, he’s a great addition to the cast. God, he plays sinister and creepy so well.

    • Liv says:

I am so happy PSH is in it – hope he’s the guarantor for the film to be great 🙂

And I like that they show a glimpse of the coming war. So disturbing.

Can’t wait for the film, so excited!

  2. Jenna says:

Ooh, it does look good. I still don’t like Josh for Peeta though. He looks like a sweet boy next to Jennifer and Liam.

    • Sweet Dee says:

Sadly, that’s true to the actual character.

    • Melymori says:

So I guess you haven’t read the books

      • Jenna says:

I’ve read them, thank you very much. But I think Josh is still TOO boyish for Peeta. He’s too childish.

      • Belle says:

I have read the books as well… and don’t like Josh in the role. I hate to say it is because he is short, but yes, it drove me nuts when they were doing promo for the first movie, and she was towering over him. I can’t help but think that he looks more like her little brother than anything else. So, I just don’t see them as a couple… at all.

      • Tessa says:

Another book reader here, and nowhere in the books did it say Peeta was tiny and smaller and younger looking than Katniss. If you’re casting Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, you need someone a little more masculine for Peeta. She’s too womanly to have such a boyish love interest.

    • dahlianoir says:

Why not complaining about Jennifer ? Katniss isn’t supposed to be porcelain white, quite the contrary and yet no one seems to mind :/

      • Jenna says:

Lots of people have complained about her; or at least her weight.

      • Belle says:

A lot of people did complain about Jennifer in the role… but as Jenna mentioned, mainly because she seemed too ‘healthy’ to be coming from a starving district. Of course, she wasn’t quite starving because she and Gale hunt for extra food, and Gale is pretty darn healthy-looking as well… lol 🙂 IMO, both of them looked a bit more healthy than they should have for the first movie.

    • Rell says:

He is suppose to be the opposite of katniss and gale. This is part of the reason katniss struggles between the two: her similarities and history with gale but her attraction to the differences in peeta. Also even though they are all poor peeta hasn’t hard as hard a life as gale and katniss.

      • Lia says:

Rell, I completely agree with you people really need to read the book

      • Sweet Dee says:

…especially the end of the last book.

Also, nowhere does it say he’s not small. He’s right for the part, if you read the books.

    • Bijlee says:

I think josh hutcherson sucks for peeta. Peeta should be bigger, more tender, and basically a pacifist. I know people are like big hero small heroine is such a cliche, but these books subvert a “cliche” and make it so interesting. Katniss being smaller was important in the book. She’s able to climb trees and do so many more things and despite her stature is tougher than nails. She didnt do things with brute strength. Whereas peeta was a bakers son and just sweeter and nonviolent. Hutchersons peeta is so arrogant and one dimensional. I once read an interview where Hiutcherson said that he worked with the director or something to make peeta stronger and less weak than in the books. I was so turned off by that. I used to like him as an actor and after this plus his girlfriend, the kid seems like such a douche.

Also I HATED the hunger games movie. I thought it was awful. Really really really bad writing, pacing, directing, and yes even the acting was cringeworthy at times. I thought it sucked monkey balls! I don’t think JLaw is a good Katniss. The girl is a talented actor, but I thought she was cringeworthy in this role. And why does hemsworth get lead role billing when his character is supporting at best????

      • magpie says:

I haven’t read the books (so I have no idea what I’m talking about), but when I saw the movie I thought Josh and Liam should have exchanged roles.

    • chria says:

he plays sweet. read the books!

  3. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Yes! This looks maybe even better than the first! PSH is freaking amazing..looks like he’s adding even more to it. Yay! Cant wait.

  4. Tiffany says:

Notice how PS Hoffman is mainly in the trailer. Yeah, this movie has my ten bucks come November.

    • bravocueen says:

WHAT? NOVEMBER? How the HELL am I going to survive? LOVE this series. Adored the first movie, LOVED the actors. Thought Josh was a little small but EH, whatevs. I got enough to complain about in general. This movie rocks!!

  5. marie says:

I must be the only one but this doesn’t look good. JLaw looks too old for the part, the costumes look cheap but I’m glad this director is better than the other one because the cinematography doesn’t look THAT bad.

  6. Miss so and so says:

Jennifer Garner is sure looking pregnant

    • Sumodo1 says:

Holy cats! She sure does look pregnant. Maybe Ben’s rant at the Oscars about marriage being a lot of work meant he was “working it” in the bedroom to have another baby boy. (Jus’sayin’)

    • Hea says:

      Doubt it.

She has movies to film this summer and her stomach always looks like that.

    • Belle says:

While I have seen a few photos that make me think she might be, I usually see some taken after that show that she probably isn’t. Even in this current batch of photos, there are a couple where she is holding little Sam, and her shirt is pulled up, showing some of her stomach. Granted, the middle of her stomach is not showing… but enough to suggest that her stomach looks great, and not pregnant.

    • chria says:

      you mean lawrence

  7. Sweet Dee says:

Hurrah for the Colorado (my state) economy! Good for us. I should probably try and meet Snoop but I doubt I’ll make it that far.

Ugh. Peeta. Josh Hutcherson. I guess it works because I dislike him in real life as much as I disliked Peeta in the books.

    • Jordan says:

Just curious but why do you dislike him in real life?

      • Sweet Dee says:

Oh I probably could have been clearer on that. I just dislike him as an actor, I don’t ever find him to be convincing at all. I heard he’s a lovely young man though.

  8. akua says:

Hoffman gets my $10 bucks on this

  9. RHONYC says:

    oh SH*T!!! 😯

i never was even inspired to see the 1st Hunger Games until now.

i’m going watch it ASAP to catch up ’cause this looks fugging dope as hell!!!

    😀

  10. Jordan says:

Lawrence and Hoffman acting opposite one another fills me to the brim with girlish glee. Trailer looks terrific. I’m very much looking forward to this film!.

  11. Cidee says:

PSH is a dreamboat. There. I said it.

  12. Mew says:

Gotta love the headlines like “how she and she got her body back after being pregnant”… it’s like where did her body go for the time being? Who took it? It sure would be nice to have a body back, quite hard to imagine living without one! Especially while being pregnant! How can, actually, anyone be pregnant without a body? So odd….

    • Happy21 says:

      😀

      Great post!

      • Isa says:

Don’t you know when you get pregnant your body is invaded by a little parasite that gets bigger and bigger and can really f*** s*** up!!

    • AmyR says:

I definitely see what you mean, and I like the way you phrased it. But on the other hand, with both my kids I reached a point where I wanted “my body back.” Not in the way the silly magazines mean it, but between pregnancy and breastfeeding it felt like my body wasn’t mine anymore, and I wanted it back!

    • magpie says:

So true! Even if you loose the baby weight, your body is never the same again.

  13. Holden says:

The first one sucked so hard I turned it off, not doing this one.

  14. gloaming says:

In a Chris Crocker voice ; Leave Thom Yorke alone!

Actually please refer yourself to my avatar. tvm!

  15. Lala says:

Am I the only one who doesnt get/like the Hunger Games thing? I have not read the books but the movie did nothing for me…

    • RobN says:

Reading the books gives you an emotional investment in the characters that skipping the trilogy and seeing a single movie does not.

      • Bijlee says:

Which means the movie sucks. The movie was AWFUL. I’m astounded by how much people liked the crapfest that was the hunger games…but Thor was so much worse and people loved and raved about that so…people are weird.

The books are really good, but not well written so I guess it’s about the same for the movie. Collins editor sucked, because the copy I had had spelling mistakes that I could notice. And my spellings atrocious.

  16. tabby says:

Didn’t like the first movie, I’m pretty sure I won’t like this one either. Just too boring

  17. Dizzybenny says:

at 1:57 what is she going to say after,”Make my day”?
    pfff please, no thanks!!

  18. j.eyre says:

May I volunteer for a Donald Sutherland and PSH sandwich?

    • Marty says:

You’re alone, very alone on that one my dear. 😉

    • Holden says:

I actually need to bleach that out of my brain somehow.

    • RHONYC says:

      i get it.

even though he’s older D. Sutherland still has that special something. i’ve always thought he was better looking than his son Kiefer. 😉

  19. Happy21 says:

    Re: The Mad Men recap…

I LOVED last night’s episode. Trudy Campbell is fabulous! She has annoyed me since the show began but her telling Pete how it was was epic. I am now her biggest fan!

  20. apsutter says:

That is the WORST review of Mad Men that could have been posted. There are dozens of thoughtful and knowledgeable reviews out there and you guys pick that one?

  21. I Choose Me says:

Phillip Seymore Hoffman, almost almost makes me want to see this. Still so disappointed with the first one. No disrespect to Jennifer Lawrence or Woody Harrelson who did great with what they were given.

    • Bijlee says:

I dislike JLaw in the role of Katniss (I dont think she suits the character), but the writing for the film was awful. Woodys character was horrendously written. I can forgive some bad character development, but his was just ridiculous. And I agree woody pulled it off with what little he had to work with. All in all I hated the movie. I’m probably not going to see the next one immediately.. I’ll wait for it at the dollar theater instead.

  22. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

I’ve become pretty ‘meh’ about this series. The first movie was completely over rated (along with JLaw’s acting in it) and boring.
Has anyone seen the Honest Trailers take on it on YouTube? It’s hilarious and spot on. I think I’d rather watch the Battle Royale series again (which is also based on a book).

    • Bijlee says:

Oh my gawd why are so many of you making so much sense. I feel like no one shares my opinions on films and tv shows like so many here. I’m obviously not hanging it with the right crowd.

Thank you! It is overrated and was boring!!! I watched it again on Netflix this weekend (whoever thought to put it on there is a freaking genius that’s excellent marketing right there) and i fast forwarded through an hour because it was so slow. I remeber I was so excited last year to see it and won a poster for it opening night. Im just so disappointed/angry at how bad it was. Then the conversation wasn’t how boring it was but how rue was black and Katniss had baby fat. Critics and twitter monsters suck.

      • apsutter says:

I feel the same way about fellow celebitchers…love seeing so many smart women share my feelings and opinions. Battle Royal was quite good and it’s also on Netflix.

      • LAK says:

I went to see THG film with an open mind, and several teen cousins/nieces. We were all annoyed at how bad the actual production was, nevermind the story. And everyone kept talking about JLaw’s chubby face and figure…not as comment on JLaw, but her character Katniss. JLaw refusing to lose the weight required by her character was really obnoxious, but not terrible since they could have used CGI to make her look leaner but chose not to go there.

The technical aspects of the film were also really distractingly bad but i blame that on the studio who decided on a release date 6mths ahead of prep.

on a different note, why is every teen book a franchise these days? The stories are filmsy at best, and would probably suit TV medium better.

  23. Marty says:

I still don’t get how they didn’t cast an Annie for this movie. How’s that going to work?

  24. videli says:

OT – for all the Boston folk: I hope you’re good and unaffected.

    • Alexandra Bananarama says:

My vacation was here to the marathon. All my friends and family are safe. This is terrible.

      • Lulu.T.O. says:

Lay low and stay safe Alexandra!

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

@Alexandra-I am so incredibly sorry to hear that. Boston is my home and I can’t…my heart is breaking and to be honest– I’m a just complete, hysterical mess.

I just hope you and your family won’t hate Boston forever because of this. Glad to hear you’re safe.

I’ve spent my afternoon taking inventory of friends and family. The city is chaos..it’s a fucking nightmare.

      • Amelia says:

I hope all your loved ones are safe and sound Kitten (and yourself, of course!). I’d love to be able to say something comforting/profound but really, there are no words.
I can barely begin imagine what it must be like to have something like this happen so close to home, thoughts and prayers xx

      • j.eyre says:

I was thinking about you @OKitt. Glad to hear you are safe but so sorry about what you all must be experiencing.

@Alexandra Bananarama – I am glad you and yours are safe. What a tragic turn for your vacation (or any day)

Good luck and many wishes for all those affected.

      • Miss M says:

@Alexandra: I am sorry to hear that and I am glad you are safe and sound. The marathon is such a fun day for us who live here to receive so many people and celebrate Patriot’s day. So, to see this happening is heartbreaking.

@OriginalKitten: I am glad you are safe and sound. I did the same, texting/calling everyone to check if they were safe and to let them know I was fine too.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go to the victims and their families.

    • Amelia says:

      +1
Thoughts and prayers with you all.

    • Lulu.T.O. says:

+2! This is terrible. My heart goes out to all there and to those who know someone there. 🙁 Horrible.

    • audrey says:

thanks. have a couple friends in hospital thanks to this. it’s scary stuff and hard since i’m in canada now so i can’t offer help to the family

here’s hoping they just need to be patched up :/

    • lucy2 says:

I am so terribly sorry for anyone suffering because of what happened in Boston today. I hope all of our CB’ers and their family and friends are safe. Such a terrible thing, I can’t even imagine.

      • Marty says:

All my thoughts and prayers going to all those in attendence at the Boston Marathon and their loved ones.

  25. MixerUpper says:

It amazes me that people think Jennifer Lawrence can act…She was laughable in that crying scene.

  26. Susan Brown says:

This is going to be a great movie war for a long time to come. Most of you already say PSH is in it and I must add that PSH is the one that will make the difference.

    Can’t wait it anymore.
