You don’t get to choose to not be a dwarf when you’re born. But that fact doesn’t seem to matter to people. Being a dwarf just automatically makes you a freak.

I am a 30 year old female dwarf (not small like mini-me but still a dwarf standing at 3 feet and 6 inches tall).

Its because of all the prejudice that I mostly keep myself socially isolated. I’ve never had trouble making friends with people one on one in college or at work. But for some reason I can’t seem to get involved in social activities like dating, hang out at parties (too many people who haven’t met me before), or just going out for a drink and talk like an adult human being.

It seems like whenever people meet me in a place like a class or a job or like a convention/event where people are there for a purpose, I have no trouble meeting people and making friends to some extent. But in any type of social setting, people are awkward. And if there is even a hint of possibility that I might be interested in someone socially or god forbid, something more than that, its as people want to run away and hide… even if I am not even interested but merely trying to be polite and friendly.

You have no idea how hard it is to live in a world where normal social interaction/connection as a human being, the same stuff I see everybody else around me experiencing all the time, is held back from you simply because you’re physically different.

And it doesn’t help that when you read about a dwarf actor, who may not be very classy or flattering I’ll admit but is behaving in a way that frankly alot of men do. I don’t understand why, just because he’s a dwarf, the mere thought of him having sex seems to be psychologically damaging to people.

Yeah, he’s different. Get over it. Grow up!
