Halle Berry shows off her big baby bump, discusses her Mother’s Day plans

Here are some new photos of Halle Berry at the 20th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles yesterday. Halle is a longtime supporter of the Revlon Run/Walk, and I’m pretty sure she acts as host/main speaker every year. This year, Halle was showing off her sizable baby bump. She’s really showing now, isn’t she? That happened fast. Halle is not Jessica Simpson, who has to confirm her pregnancies within the first few months because she starts showing so quickly. I suspect Halle was able to keep a lid on this pregnancy until she was already in her second trimester. What do you think? She’s maybe five months along or so? During the Run/Walk, Halle spoke to People Mag about her plans for Mother’s Day.

Even pregnant with her second child – and with a wedding in the works – Halle Berry has admitted that she has no plans to slow down or take time off from work, which is probably why Sunday’s holiday will be particularly gratifying.

“What I love about Mother’s Day is Mom doesn’t have to plan it,” Berry tells reporters before hosting the 20th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women.

That means fiancé Olivier Martinez and daughter Nahla Ariela, 5, are in planning mode. And the actress couldn’t be any happier about the role reversal.

“I don’t know what it is,” she says of what might be in store for her. “My family gets together and they get to plan the day for me, and I love that. I’m the planner and I’m the one that organizes, and on Mother’s Day I get to just be taken care of.”

Despite announcing only last month that she and Martinez where expecting their first child together, the stunning 46-year-old proudly showed off her growing belly (and her still-slender figure) while wearing a black-fitted track suit, and a snug white T-shirt.

As far as whether Nahla is expecting a little brother or a little sister, Berry admits that the family is taking a wait-and-see approach – at least for now.

“We don’t know what we’re having,” she says with a smile, putting a hand gently on her stomach. “We’re having a baby, that’s for sure.”

[From People]

I idly wondered if Olivier grew up with the “Mother’s Day” tradition in France, and I had to look it up – France does celebrate Mother’s Day, but the French Mother’s Day is May 26th this year. Say bonjour to ya mutha. Anyway, I hope Olivier knows that Halle’s going to need some flowers, maybe a piece of jewelry and definitely dinner out. He knows, right? Because there will be hell to pay if he doesn’t know that.

Postpartum depression she never recovered from this.. since her own birth..

  2. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

For some reason I think she could be having a boy – also wonder if she got preggers naturally or by in-vitro?

    • bluhare says:

I read naturally, but there as also a blind item out there about an artificial conception to rehab someone’s reputation . . . .

    • Christina says:

The initial reports all claimed that she was having a boy, but I’m not sure what their source was, as Halle herself says she doesn’t know. We’ll find out soon enough.

  3. bluhare says:

Jennifer Aniston is probably spitting nails right now.

    • lisa2 says:

I doubt it. Halle always said she wanted a child and she had one.

that’s what you do when you want a child. You go and make it happen. However you can.

      • lena80 says:

I agree…she was vocal about it for while and made it happen by whatever means she CHOSE. Of course people now want to pick her apart for being surprised as if she can’t be surprised that it happened naturally at her age or if happened with help at her age (it’s not like in-vitro is 100%). I would think either way would be a surprise given her age.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@lena80, who wrote: “Of course people now want to pick her apart for being surprised as if she can’t be surprised that it happened naturally at her age or if happened with help at her age (it’s not like in-vitro is 100%). I would think either way would be a surprise given her age.”

Exactly. I seem to be the only person who remembers Halle saying, when Nahla was about 1 1/2 years old, that she and Gabriel were trying to have another baby, because Gabriel didn’t want Nahla to be an only child. They obviously had trouble conceiving their second child (and I wonder if ‘that’ might have been a bone of contention between them as well), so I really believe she ‘and’ Olivier were completely surprised by this pregnancy.

She does look rather far along. I imagine they waited until after her third month, and the all important test for Downs syndrome, before making the announcement.

        I hope it is a boy. 🙂

    • Lucybelle says:

Why? What does she have to do with this?

      • lena80 says:

Absolutely nothing, but people like to invoke her presence in unrelated threads lol.

      • V4Real says:

That’s what great about CB you can drag which ever celeb you want over to another thread. I get the Anniston joke btw Bluhare

As for Halle, natural conception my -ss but congrats just the same.

      • bluhare says:

Her name was invoked only because all the tabloids have her wanting a baby. That is all.

    • Christina says:

      Why???

Assuming no medical issues, JA, like most women, had about a quarter of a century in which she could have got pregnant, had she so desired. There’s not the slightest evidence that she wanted to become pregnant and was unable to. Is it really THAT hard to believe that some women simply do not want to have children?

      • Ms.Smurf says:

We’re not debating that though…we’re saying that JA says she wants to have kids…she’s already said that she doesn’t want to adopt a kid. She’s around the same age as Halle with no kid. Unless she froze some eggs ten years ago, she’s not going to get what she wants.

And at this point in her life, she doesn’t seem like she wants one, that she loves the way her life is. Which would be fine, if she wasn’t constantly saying that she wants kids. The point is, man or no man, she would’ve had a kid if she wanted one by now.

      • Christina says:

        @Ms Smurf

Has she ever explicitly said she wants kids though? Even if she has, I put that down to the fact that it’s still considered almost taboo for a woman to say straight out that she does not want children. Didn’t Cameron Diaz have to backpeddle when she said something like that a few years ago?

I do agree with you that if JA wanted to have kids, she’d have had them by now, whether naturally or through adoption, with or without a man in her life. All the indicators are that she has never wanted children, but I reckon she wants to keep people guessing about the state of her womb, as it’s one of the few ways she can stay in the news these days.

      • mimi says:

I have a friend ho wants to have children but she couldn’t find a lasting and loving relationship and that is something she wants as part of becoming a mother.

She wants a father to the child that will be with her in a loving relationship and to raise the child as a family.

Since she has not found the guy yet, she didn’t have children and now the years have gone by…

Maybe this is the same for Jen A.
Not to mention the trauma of divorce and to see your ex with his new woman all the time on news stands.
That surely could take years just to break free from the trauma.

      • Christina says:

Or maybe, just maybe, she’s one of the growing number of women who don’t want to have children? Just sayin’.

      • V4Real says:

@ Chtistina yes JA has said she wanted kids a few times but perhaps now she don’t or never really wanted to in the first place. She said it more than once when married to Brad. Rumors were speculating that was one of the reasons their marriage fell apart; Brad was ready but she was not.

      • Lauren says:

If i waited for the perfect man-father-husband i would have no children. I got pregnant after being told i could never have children. Had a healthy baby boy. Five years later, got pregnant again-a healthy baby girl. I was married to someone who said he wanted children..when they arrived he lost interest in me completely-claimed i loved the children more than him. I feel blessed to have my children, regardless of my failed marriage. One day hopefully i will have grandchildren too. Raising them alone for years was challenging, but my life would be meaningless without them. I am fortunate to now have a man who loves me and my children, after many years without a supportive partner. Life is for loving and family. Career success and money does not replace a family. Happy Mother`s Day everyone.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Christina, who wrote: “Has she ever explicitly said she wants kids though?”

Yes, she has … most passionately. In fact, when asked about the rumors about her marriage ending because she didn’t want kids she said: “I did, I do, I will!”

In another interview she said: “I’ve never in my life said I don’t want kids.”

While married, and after Brad Pitt all but cried during a televised interview Diane Sawyer did with the “Oceans Eleven” cast when he said “Okay, I’ll say it … I’ve got kids on the brain. I’m ready to start a family.”

Later, when Diane Sawyer interviewed Jennifer Aniston on TV and mentioned Brad’s comments, and the fact that he wanted to have a ‘soccer team’ of kids, and the fact that ‘Jennifer’ had said they’d probably start a family once “Friends” ended, Jennifer said: “We’ll have one, and maybe another one to keep it company.” But she looked very reluctant about committing to having kids … in fact, she sounded like she was talking about her dogs (she really said “another one to keep ‘it’ company”).

There’s nothing wrong with a woman not wanting and deciding not to have children, but these women are usually honest about their choice.

    • Irishae says:

      @bluehare

I laughed. That is all. 🙂

    • Irishae says:

      Double post.

  4. Beatrice says:

Do you think this Kim K’s fantasy of how she’d look pregnant?

    • AmyLynne says:

      100% agree, wow.

    • Maria_Spain says:

      XD lol!

      And true 8)

    • Dredz says:

Halle looks good, she looks younger even.

      • Denise says:

Really? Younger? I think she looks tired and a bit hard for the first time, all very in line with her age. Of course she’s still gorgeous. But I see her age finally making an appearance, not traveling backwards.

      • Me says:

I don’t think ‘tired’ and ‘hard’ is ‘in line’ with being your 40’s. Nor do I think that Halle looks tired OR hard. How she does look, however, is far better than most women half her age in this country. Wanna see ‘tired’ and ‘hard’? Go visit any college campus in the United States.

  5. Anastasia says:

Wow, she got pregnant at 46? Michelle Duggar is probably giving her a huge hairy stink eye for that.

    • Trek Girl says:

Lol Michelle Duggar wouldn’t be jealous of Halle, she’d be happy for her.

  6. A says:

    She looks so tired!

    • Lucybelle says:

I thought so too! I don’t like her personally but I have always thought she is a gorgeous woman. Here she looks sleep deprived and washed out.

    • Christina says:

Really? I think she looks great. She’s wearing less make-up than usual, as it’s a casual event, so maybe that’s why you think she looks ‘tired’. But to me, she looks fresh and healthy.

    • LandFar says:

She’s squinting, maybe that’s why? It makes her under eyes look like dark circles. It looks like shadows from her squinting her eyes.

    • Lulu says:

I think it’s partly because her botox has worn off and we can see her make a squinty/frownie face.

  7. Joanna says:

does she ever have a bad day? she ALWAYS looks good. so jealous.

    • Christina says:

No, I don’t think she ever does. Even 4 (?)months pregnant, 46 years old, wearing a tracksuit and not much make-up, she still looks way better than 99% of women 20 years her junior.

Whatever one thinks of her as a person, there is no doubt that Halle is a gorgeous woman.

  8. truthful says:

    cute

  9. Decloo says:

I wish she would change her hair. Her Marge Simpson do isn’t doing her any favors.

  10. V4Real says:

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the CB mothers out there

  11. Ag says:

    She looks fantastic!

  12. dorothy says:

She’s beautiful. Too bad that underneath all that is a crazy person.

  13. Noinin says:

She is looking really good and fit. And about the “surprise” thing : even with IVF pregnancies are surprises, simply because they seldom work at the first try… And when you are used to take pregnancy tests and they always come up negative, when one is positive it’s hard to believe at first 🙂 and CB please, I am French and we celebrate Mother’s Day just like anyone else, our mothers are spoilt too 🙂

    • LandFar says:

We don’t know if she actually had IVF. She said it was natural, a surprise, to her given her age.
      It’s not impossible people.
I personally know a few women 40+ to -50 who got pregnant naturally. They couldn’t afford IVF even if they wanted to and for them it really was a surprise.

      • Mauibound says:

From what I have read it’s easier to conceive at an older age of you have already had a healthy pregnancy earlier in life. But the chances of conceiving after 45 are less than 1% so I’m given to think that it’s IVF.

  14. A says:

    She looks great!
Although I love her short hair (she’s like the only woman on earth who can pull it off), I would love, love, love for her to grow it long. I remember when she had that long curly hair, it was so gorgeous.

  15. mimi says:

She looks great. Cute and at peace.

That really makes me want to have another child.

  16. Dawn says:

She is so pretty and so nuts! But I am happy for her and I know that she will take care of herself. Happy Mother’s day to her and all mothers (and mothers to be) everywhere!

  17. videli says:

Damn, she looks good! A true genetic 1-percenter. Why is she considered crazy? I’m not disputing it, I just don’t follow news of her, other than the shitty move of keeping the father of her child away.

  18. drdoolittling says:

    She’s a vile excuse for a mother.

  19. KellyinSeattle says:

I wonder if she’s growing her hair into a new style; I’m glad Nahla will have a brother or sister. Hopefully Olivier will be a decent dad. Gabriel seems to be , and Nahla looks so much like him, the older she gets, the more she looks like her daddy….No matter what, any children of Halle’s pretty much hit the genetic jackpot.

  20. Samihami says:

Yeah, she’s pretty, but so what? She’s also bat shit crazy and her baby’s father is a violent man. I pity this poor baby and am sorry that she got pregnant. At least Nahla has one stable and loving parent. This baby won’t have that advantage. A new baby is usually something to be celebrated, but sadly not in this case.

    • Me says:

Sigh. Well while you’re over in your corner not celebrating it, I’m sure the people who matter in the situation will be doing the exact opposite. Congrats to Halle and Olivier and Nahla.

      • SamiHami says:

Oh, no doubt they are happy about it. I’m just saying that they are two truly awful people that shouldn’t be procreating. I shudder to think what kind of parents they will be together-and once they break up, the crazy is really going to come out in full force.

As I said, at least Nahla has one sane parent. This baby won’t even have that much.

  21. TheRealTea says:

I’ll bet Kim K wishes she could look this great preggers! And they’re only a couple of months apart….it’s crazy how one woman can carry a baby & barely look pregnant. But then others, I.e. Jessica Simpson & KK, gain mega weight.

    • Thiajoka says:

If KimK knew how to dress herself, she could look this great pregnant.

    • Trek Girl says:

It’s not that crazy. Kim, Jessica, and Halle have different body types and carry weight in different ways, that’s all.

  22. Irishae says:

Why is there comparison between Kim K and Halle? Some pregnant women run with the idea that they can still dress how they did before. This trend of comparing pregnant women’s hotness is immature and embarrassing. I would expect it from 17 year old Maxim readers, but from other women? Like, women who’ve probably had kids of their own? I mean, I wish I could look this great NOT pregnant. Get real.

And a Happy Mother’s Day to the rest of us! 🙂

  23. la chica says:

Is Olivier still in France? Haven’t seen them together since she announced her ‘natural’ pregnancy.

  24. Thiajoka says:

Don’t the French know that May 26th is Arrested Development day?! Haha, I’m just so excited–my mind immediately went there when I saw “May 26th.”

I think Halle is way more along in the pregnancy since she’s slender and showing so much 6+ months?

  25. Sam H x says:

Not a fan of how she conducted herself during the custody battle with Gabriel, I’m happy for Nahla though! Atleast she will have a sibling to play with and lean on if things do ever get ugly again (I hope not)…I wish Halle a very happy and healthy pregnancy! Olivier will understand Gabriel’s position better now that he is going to be a father too. x
