Bethenny Frankel’s ex is going to court to impose a gag order on her

The last time we reported on Bethenny Frankel she was claiming she’d made the wrong choice in marrying her now estranged husband, Jason Hoppy, and should have trusted her instincts, basically. Bethenny added that she did have her daughter by Jason, but it sounded like she was backtracking. She also admitted that she was still sharing an apartment with Jason while they were going through a contentious divorce, and she claimed that he made her feel like a bad person while they were married. Oh and she also called divorcethe most difficult thing you can go through in your life” and complained that her divorce hadn’t been amicable like she was expecting.

So is it any surprise that Jason, who hasn’t talked to the press at all as far as I can tell, is going to court to try and keep Bethenny from talking any more crap about him? Radar has the story claiming Jason is trying to get a gag order that enforces the privacy clause in their prenup:

The latest missive in the War of the Roses split comes after Frankel gave an interview to People in which she revealed the marriage was “a mistake,” and the divorce was making her “miserable.”

Jason, 41, “has had enough and asked his lawyers to go to court asking the judge to impose a gag order on the entire divorce proceedings. He doesn’t want Bethenny discussing the divorce in the media. There are specific clauses in their prenuptial agreement that prohibit either party from talking about their relationship in the press. Jason wants Bethenny to just zip it when it comes to the divorce,” a source told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

As we previously reported, the former Real Housewife of New York star revealed that her marriage to Jason was a mistake, and that she regrets ever getting married in the first place.

“In my marriage, I made a mistake. It is what it is,” she said. “I made the wrong choice. But I do have my daughter, who is so beautiful and amazing in every way.”

Bethenny said that she was devastated when her marriage to Jason turned sour, and she hit a dark and low point with self- reflection.

“All the things that I’ve tried to resolve in therapy and get past from my childhood reared their ugly head in my marriage. My marriage made me feel like I was a bad person, like I was damaged, I was dysfunctional, I was never going to be happy,” Bethenny said.

“But I don’t believe that to be true. Yet there I was in a relationship that made me feel that way.”

Multiple sources tell us that the “Bethenny will fight any gag order. She wants to be the victim, and she can’t do that if she can’t talk!”

[From Radar Online]

Bethenny needs to keep talking about Jason so that she gets press. This is how she makes a living, by making people interested in her train wreck of a personal life. So Jason is talking about Bethenny to Radar, but he’s doing it off the record, which is smart. This reminds me of how Gabriel Aubry attempted to handle his custody battle with Halle Berry, and was ultimately triumphant.

I have to mention some great quotes in an earlier story on Radar, in which they claimed that Jason was “taking the high road” and “refusing to publicly bash” Bethenny. They quote sources who say that Bethenny “is having a temper tantrum because Jason isn’t giving in to her demands, and she wants him to give up custody of their daughter, and move out of their Tribeca loft. There is no way Jason would allow Bethenny to have full custody of Bryn without a dog fight in court. Jason gave their marriage 100% and was always very supportive of Bethenny. She is going to end up a bitter old lonely woman, just like her mother, whom she loathes and despises.” Jason may not be publicly bashing Bethenny, but he sure doesn’t mind doing it through a “source.”

Jason and his daughter, Bryn, are shown out on 5-10. Note that he’s still wearing his wedding ring. He’s also shown outside of court on 4-19-13. Bethenny Frankel is shown on 5-11 and 5-15-13. Credit: WENN.com and FameFlynet

    Halle and Gabriel were married??

Anyway…I think Bethenny is a horrible person and I can’t wait until her 15 minutes are up.

    • David99 says:

      +!

    • Celebitchy says:

Fixed the Halle and Gabriel thing, ha!

    • JH says:

      Totally agree.

    • Liz says:

I also can’t stand Bethenny. If you watched their show you saw Jason as a happy, loving, and loyal husband. Bethenny was always a mess. Like when she kept crying and crying during her surprise birthday party. She never made a real attempt at being close to Jason’s parents who seem so loving. Any Judge familiar with these two would give 100% custody of the little girl to Jason. If she is raised by Bethenny she will end up all messed up by her Mother!!

      • baklava says:

Actually, Bethenny behaved far worse toward Jason’s parents than merely not making any attempt to develop a close relationship with them. She appeared to go out of her way to treat them with derision.

  2. blannie says:

She disgusts me so I’m ashamed to admit that I used to like her. She’s taken a wonderful opportunity – a family with a terrific guy and turned it to dust because of her own narcissism. I hope she can find some peace with her past, but I feel for Jason and Brynn in the meantime. Good for Jason asking for a gag order!

    • Amanda_B says:

      +1

    • MrsB says:

Don’t worry, I think a lot of people used to like her on RHNY until she got her own show and she couldn’t hide her true colors anymore.

      • Itsa Reallyme says:

        Yep, this exactly!

Love the pics of Jason teaching Bryn to ride a bike!

      • Liz says:

EXACTLY!! Once she got her own show we saw how crazy she is. Bethany is a real hot mess. Jason will be the stability in Bryn’s life.

  3. marie says:

    that poor kid..

  4. epiphany says:

With jaws like that, it better be an awfully big gag!

  5. dorothy says:

Good for him. She hasn’t stopped talking about their personal relationship since she started the divorce proceedings. You have a child stupid, stop talking about your ex!!!

  6. Kate says:

I hate when people say they regret their marriages when children resulted from those marriages. Even Princess Diana, who went through a WAY, WAY more public divorce said that she never regretted the marriage because it gave her her two sons. That Bethenny says publicly that she was miserable and regrets her time with Jason — who always came off as friendly and easygoing and too good looking for her on the show — says something about her character.

Comparing her to Halle Berry is appropriate, I think, because I feel like they have very similar attitudes. They wanted a kid, found a guy, had the kid, but don’t want the guy anymore and feel he’s disposable. He can just be erased from the picture for all these women care, and they feel entitled, like that should happen at the snap of their fingers.

  7. JudyK says:

    Yeah, shut up already Bethenny.

    UGH. Can’t stand her.

  8. NerdMomma says:

“She is going to end up a bitter old lonely woman, just like her mother, whom she loathes and despises.”

Yup. That quote comes directly from him, and I can see how she would have felt miserable and like a damaged person with him. I don’t know either of these people but I think it’s clear that he’s not the perfect guy other commenters think.

    • Yvette says:

+1 I think Jason is probably nothing like what he’s been portrayed as, and I’m not a Bethenny apologist by any means, but do remember on her show her assistant supporting her Saying he had two sides and a bad temper.. Or something to that effect.

      • Emily says:

        Okay…her assistant…that she pays.

I’m sure there are two sides to this story, and that Jason’s not perfect, but just watching her show she came off as harping on him non-stop. Reality TV and editing can hide a lot of things, but I couldn’t hide how annoying and mean Bethenny could be. Jason managed to at least be able to hide it.

    • bridget says:

She says that she wanted an amicable divorce… And then demanded sole physical and legal custody of their daughter, that she get the loft, and some pretty unreasonable financial demands. I don’t doubt that Mr. Happy is far from perfect, but Ms. Frankel is behaving really, really badly which just makes him look even better by comparison. You want amicable? Start by treating the other party with respect.

      • Pandora says:

That is a fairly normal starting point in New York State, which is notorious for very very tough financial and custody settlements in favour of the man. You start high and it gets whittled down, no lawyer doing their job properly would advise a client otherwise.

These very backward and biased outcomes have been the subject of inquiry by many legislative and women’s groups.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Yeah I mean you never know what goes on behind the scenes. He may have been great, but we dont really know that. All we know is that Bethenny has come across as an immature jerk in the press during all this, but that doesn’t mean he is perfect. For all we know, he wants a gag order so she wont spill some big secret about him in the future. Who knows.

    • Lee says:

Unless your partner is chronic tear down artist, abuser, or sadist then any feelings of being bad, worthless, or not good enough are all the result of the person experiencing them. Some degree of contention is a part of being involved in any normal relationship. However, Bethenny cannot deal with any person or situation that does not 100% align with her. In her world, even innocuous challenges are seen as budding betrayals. She sorely tests the sanity of everyone in her orbit and someday soon, poor Bryn will experience that and be torn between her loyalty to an unbalanced, unreasonable mother and a the basic normalcy offered by her father and his family.

  9. Rhiley says:

Any relationship is going to make her feel damaged and dysfunctional because she is. When I saw this couple on television, it seemed as though she was telling Jason he was not good enough, he was not man enough. When she was first trying to sell Skinny Girl, she kept telling him this was “theirs,” but when he was reluctant to to make commitment to working with her full time, which was wise on his part, she told him he was lazy and jealous of her success. Just because someone doesn’t make millions of dollars a year doesn’t mean they are not successful. Jason seems a little white bread boring, and he is the one who made the mistake by marrying her, but he also seems like a decent man and I hope he can find a partner is good to him and his daughter.

    • Emily says:

This! I felt the same way watching their show. Some people are happy to work, work, work hard constantly to make a lot of money. Others go to a job that they find okay from 9-5 and then don’t think about it ever again until 9 the next day. It’s not like they were broke and he was refusing to work!

  10. Poink517 says:

Good for Jason! Hope he succeeds. She’s a real piece of work.

  11. TG says:

I believe in taking the high road but I understand too why Gabriel and this guy Jason would want their version out there too. I mean both Bethenny and Halle get opportunities to present their side in magazine and TV interviews and of course they aren’t going to tell the world they are miserable c*nts and they can present in subtle ways or not so subtle ways that the guy is bad or was bad for them. I don’t like either of these two women.

  12. Viv says:

Weirdly, I have no sympathy for him. He came across as quite bitchy himself sometimes during that show. He knows how to push buttons. There were moments when he made her look worse than she was, as annoying as she may be. He hated that she made all that money.

  13. Dedrie says:

That is a huge.. wide mouth to gag..

  14. Sam says:

God, the daughter looks just like her dad. You know Betthany is gonna throw that in her face when she gets older.

  15. RHONYC says:

that lil’ Bryn is such a sweetheart.
the 1st pic with her & papa Jay just made my heart go all melty inside.

    TEAM JASON! 😀

  16. pnichols says:

If she actually did put her daughter first and not herself she would keep it private. She is so attention seeking. Cant stand her. She hasnt stop talking since day one. Jason is the man.

  17. Veruca says:

“My marriage made me feel like I was a bad person, like I was damaged, I was dysfunctional, I was never going to be happy…”

Um, she really just doesn’t like reality (except TV), does she?

  18. Hakura says:

I just feel for the little girl, having to put up with a woman like that as her mother. I don’t know them or follow the show, but she doesn’t do much for her image in these statements she’s releasing.

  19. audrey says:

i loathe any woman who tries to take their kid away from the father(unless he’s abusive)

too many women think the child is theirs. a child isn’t anyone’s property and deserves to know both parents

there is nothing more selfish, immature and inconsiderate. think of the child, not yourself

    • Hakura says:

@audrey – This is so true. =( The child’s well-being (emotional & otherwise, of course) should be the absolute first priority of a good parent, in situations like this.

She’s had a ‘daddy’ with her all her life, now he’s going to just ‘disappear’? How painful & unfair is that?

  20. Maddie says:

If he did say that she is turning into her mother, I going to say he’s not far from th truth.

Remember when Bethany and Romoana (sp?) were walking over the bridge and Romoana went off on Bethany and made her cry?

Well what Ro said has happened because Bethany is self destructive and what ever fanbase Bethany got from her friendship fallout with Jill has long gone with her nasty behaviors.

  21. lisa says:

he should encourage her to talk more

the more i hear her comments, the more i feel sorry for jason
